My sister loves reading Lynsay Sands’ books. There was one book in particular that she said I just had to read called The Switch. My sister knows my taste in books and promised me that I’d love it and I did. Well, it’s my turn to tell her that she just has to read A Lady in Disguise.

I was thoroughly entertained throughout this story. This was a historical romance with some suspense and mystery. While the book was lengthy, the pace was not. I was riveted to A Lady in Disguise from beginning to end.

I loved the heroine, Maggie. She was worse than a cat getting herself into sticky situations. She even said it to herself numerous times “Only you, Maggie”. I can completely relate to that statement since I often find myself in predicaments that only I can possibly get myself into. Maggie made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. I do have to address the frequency of how many times she was hit in the head. It reached the ridiculous meter amount a couple of times. However, who am I to judge the reasonable amount of times one can get whacked in the head? All of Maggie’s other character traits made up for this tiny little ripple. I admired her loyalty, bravery and cleverness.

The hero, Lord James, was swoon worthy. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my lip. He is the man of my dreams. Gorgeous, strong, intelligent with leadership skills and full of chemistry. He is perfectly capable of handling Maggie with all her shenanigans. Together as a couple they were irresistible to love. I thought they made a perfect match which often brought a smile to my face.

There were other characters that were well developed that added to the enjoyment of the story. One such character was James’s Aunt Vivian. I loved how she put James in his place and was understanding and accepting of Maggie’s plight.

The ending was epic with all the plot threads neatly wrapped up. I was definitely left with a book glow as I reminisced about the developing romantic relationship between Maggie and James. A Lady in Disguise contained unpredictable plot threads that lead me on a reading journey that I didn’t want to put down or end. I highly recommend this book to future readers–but especially to my sister.

Kyr, son of the famous warrior, Thalgor, has been tasked to marry the daughter of a warring leader to broker a peace between three clans. Ever the obedient son, he prepares for his wedding only to learn from a slave that his betrothed has fled with a warrior from her own tribe. Determined to save the peace, Kyr sets off in pursuit of the fleeing couple, reluctantly taking the slave with him to thwart discovery.

Ciel has been a slave all her life. She fully expects to be killed when she delivers the news of her missing mistress. Instead she is saved and tasked to impersonate Kry’s betrothed. In the dead of night she and Kyr sneak out of the warrior’s camp hoping to intercept the escaping couple by taking a dangerous route. With each leg of the journey, they are tested. They must learn to trust to survive… not easy when both of them harbor dangerous secrets.

Kur the son of Thalgor the Golden Helmet is at the celebration of the peace treaty between his father and the northern lord. Although, he is not exactly happy to marry the northern king’s daughter, Rynne, he knows his duty. The marriage is a way to seal the peace treaty. What he doesn’t expect is for Rynne’s servant and former slave Ciel to come to his tent the night before the wedding and tell him that Rynne has run away with one of her father’s lieutenants, Will, with whom she has been in love since childhood.

The plot is different from many others I have read and well-constructed. It flows from one part to the next. It reminds us how slavery can affect people who. even when freed, are still being subjugated as servants. Trust is another big part of the plot, as when Ciel’s trust is won it is strong as steel. Another subject is that compassion does not make you weak and that there are many other ways to end a battle or war.

The characters are wonderfully developed in a rich world. Ciel is a strong, competent, loving woman who starts to become the person she was supposed to be without having her personality crushed by cruelty. The trust she had in Kur in the beginning is broken because he did not protect her when a small group of brigands attacks. She pulls herself emotionally and physically from him, hoping that she will be free from her previous life with the sea witches.

I loved this book, as you can tell by the five stars. There is nothing I would change and I hope there is a sequel to it. Readers will be drawn into a world where magic is an everyday thing, with lords that are good and those that are power hungry. With the love and friendship, the world can change.

The previous health records of kidney disease, liver disorder, heart dysfunctions, fluctuating blood pressure order viagra india level or bipolar disorder then the physician usually advices to avail a moderate dosage in these conditions. Sometimes cultures evolve in all sorts of unexpected ways.

One of the things I appreciated the most about this tale was how old it felt. The narrator grew up at a time when her culture was rapidly changing, and she is seems to be the only person alive who still remembers how her people lived before their traditional way of life began to disappear. Every word she spoke was soaked in bittersweet memories. Once or twice I actually had to pause to make sure that this wasn’t based on a real Gaelic myth. It was simply that detailed and believable.

This was an excellent example of how to include a message in a book without turning it into a lecture. There was an important reason why Seonag’s fate was remembered by those who knew her, and the lesson this community learned was something that everyone should keep in mind. I deeply enjoyed seeing how this was included in the plot so effortlessly. Each part of it felt like a natural extension of the storyline, and yet it also all came together in the end to drive home the lesson the narrator and her people had learned so many years ago.

Seonag was such an admirable character. She lived in a time and place when a single woman was considered to be a burden, especially when they were as quirky, headstrong, and sometimes socially awkward as she was. There were so many reasons why she logically wouldn’t be able to finish the task she set out to do, and yet I couldn’t help but to believe she’d somehow figure out a way to beat the odds. The more I got to know her, the more I respected her perseverance and enjoyed seeing how confident she was about her abilities despite what everyone around her was saying.

Seonag and the Seawolves was a beautiful story that I’d heartily recommend to anyone who enjoys legends or folklore.

In a stroke of chance, she finds lodgings with the Goldstein’s, Sam and Trudy, and tries to figure out how modern Portland works. Cars, showers, television—all are mysteries to her at first, although she adapts.Meddy is somewhat naïve about life and especially about love, as she slowly falls for Sam, a teen who is suffering from Usher’s Syndrome, a disease that will blind and deafen him in time. What is more troubling to Meddy is that her powers of turning people to stone have returned, and she is at a loss as to why. With the police slowly closing in and time running out on how to get Eris to return to Olympus, Meddy discovers that sometimes old is new, and that time-worn traditions can surmount modernity. But will they be enough for her to stay with Sam, or will she be forced to return to Tartarus for eternity?

It’s never too late to try to fix old mistakes.

Some of my favorite parts of this book involved Meddy’s reaction to modern life. So much had changed in the world over the last few thousand years since her glory days. She was surprised by everything from the food to the fashion of the modern day, and I was fascinated by her adjustment to our era. There were certain things she noticed that I never would have assumed would be an issue, and other changes I assumed she would struggle with turned out to be no big deal at all. This was all thought out very nicely, and I appreciated how much effort Mr. Frankel put into it.

The pacing was perfect. I’d originally assumed it would be a little slow in the beginning as Meddy explained what she’d done to anger the gods, but the plot quickly jumped into showing what happened when she was given a temporary pardon from her sentence instead. While these details were given all of the attention they needed later on, I loved the fact that the audience got to move on to main storyline so quickly in this tale. That really kept my interest levels high beginning with the first page and going on through to the final one.

Meddy’s character development was handled wonderfully. She was always someone I sympathized with, but I only grew to like her even more as I got to know the parts of her personality that weren’t immediately noticeable. Yes, she had her fair share of flaws, but she also had a genuinely kind heart and a willingness to learn from her past. Those are always lovely things to discover about a character, especially when they’re followed by genuine personal growth.

What the Gods Allow was a stellar addition to J.S. Frankel’s long list of works. Whether you’re a new or longterm fan of his stories, I highly recommend checking this one out!

It’s not every day that I see poetry referenced in this genre, so I knew I needed to read this piece as soon as I read that part of the blurb. The poetry Jeoffry’s human wrote was far more important than most of the characters realized. I’ll leave it up to other readers to discover why this is so, but I was impressed with how much effort Jeoffry put into describing his person’s passion in life since cats in this universe aren’t particularly interested in poems in general.

There’s something special about the relationship between humans and the animals they live with. My favorite scenes were the ones that explored this relationship from the perspective of a cat. As the main character, it was his job to explain and understand humanity even when the choices we make are nonsensical to other species. More than once I was impressed with how much thought the author put into how even the most ordinary human behavior could look incredibly strange to a cat.

The world building was perfect. Like every cat that has existed in any universe, Jeoffry had a high opinion of both himself and what he was capable of. One of the most interesting things about reading his tale was learning why these animals behave this way. It’s not a coincidence, and the explanation for it was as satisfying as it was fascinating. If the author ever writes a sequel, I’d sure like to learn more about Jeoffry and the rest of feline society.

As if all of these reasons weren’t enough, I also adored the humor in this piece. Mental illness and asylums are not amusing topics by any stretch of the imagination, so I was surprised and delighted by how effortlessly the main character was able to find the joyful side of such a serious setting.

For He Can Creep was the funniest and most thought-provoking piece of fantasy fiction I’ve read in ages. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

This book in the series is both like and unlike the others I’ve read. In the other books, the problems faced are of a more immediate kind and there is a distinct resolution. In this book, the problem to be solved is the complete annihilation of the human race a few centuries from now. That does not, however, suggest that the plot and action are less compelling. In fact, I found that I was more engrossed in this book that in the others – so much so I stayed up way too late to be able to finish it, just because I had to know what happened.

As with her other books, there are a lot of characters to keep track of, but the author does a wonderful job making sure the reader can keep them separated (with the exception of the twins, but that’s a special case – and I loved the humor there).

In the other books in this series I’ve read, there’s been a lot of extra information that took me out of the story flow – interesting, but distracting. There was none of that here and it was truly appreciated.

I also enjoyed the fact that the author included glimpses of the future in this book- and there was more in this book that tied it together with the others. I’m not sure it could be read as a stand alone as well as the others, though. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series. Great job!

On an unforgettable job, Evan finds himself taken by a teenage conman and confronted by a woman wielding a knife―and promptly falls head over heels for her.

Kenzie Sykes is doing her best to raise her little brother and keep him out of jail―all while dealing with her own broken heart that just hasn’t healed. She doesn’t have time for romance. He’s not asking… Until he is, and she finds herself saying yes.

Fizzy, bubbly, sensational and sexy are just some of the words I can use to describe how I felt about some of the characters while reading this novel. I laughed, giggled, snickered and face-palmed; I grinned, gasped and fanned myself from the heat. All this from one book that was so good, I stayed up to almost 2 a.m. to finish it. Why is it so awesome? Because Ms. Harte made me feel like I was right there, walking alongside Evan and Kenzie, Daniel and Smith, Lila and Rachel and the whole cast that made up the families of both the hero and heroine. I felt part of the inner circle because of the third person POV from both Evan and Kenzie’s side of things. And yet, there was so much to discover about everyone that could only be done by watching what happened, listening in on other’s conversations and seeing the emotion and craziness falling in love brought into all their lives. Never mind the resulting entertainment as they stumbled, goofed, gaffed and made goo-goo eyes at each other on and off during their budding relationship. There were such strong feelings of warmth, welcoming and family, warts and all, that appealed to me on so many levels, I couldn’t help but adore this book. Handle with Care is an excellent feel-good, happy-inducing read that left me feeling 100% satisfied. This is romance done right.

The dialogue alone is a giggle-kicker. What comes out of the mouths of Lila and Rachel are blushingly hysterical and they make no apologies for their colorful views on sex. The resulting word war between Evan and Daniel, Kenzie’s brother, was unconventional to say the least, but I have to admit laughing out loud at some of the more creative ideas for swearwords. It’s how and when they were used that made it seem real, relatable and effective comic relief. Overall, the strength of this novel is its dialogue between the characters, both first and secondary.

Emotion. Oh, there is a lot of that going around. Here’s where I find the author did a solid. Everyone always follows a heroine when there’s some kind of breakup or misunderstanding in the process of falling in love. So many books use that trope to fill scenes up with angst. Not many look at it from the guy’s perspective. What does he do when he’s hurt? I know that Chunky Monkey seems to be popular for hurting heroines but what do guys do? Ms. Harte shares her vision of Evan in a funk and I’m not sorry to say, I found it hilarious. Genius and hilarious. In my mind’s eye, I could picture it so clearly. I liked the hero even more because of it.

I understand that this is book 3 in the series, and based on how I feel after finishing Handle with Care, I know I missed out in not reading the first two. But, I did not feel left out. That’s a huge difference. This can be read as a standalone because the focus is exactly where it should be, on Evan and Kenzie’s rocky, quirky, unconventional, romantic, sexy and wonderful romance.

Of all the subplots with a secondary character, Ms. Harte picked the right person to highlight, Smith. Evan and Smith’s relationship is important on a few levels. It’s sometime comical, but there is a depth of emotion, a well of untapped seriousness that gave the novel solid footing. These are people who’ve been dealt some seriously bad hands in life and yet manage to rise above it. Or are trying to. Through the hero, I came to understand that there is a lot more to Smith than what the story initially presented. The last chapter in the novel, where the HEA is revealed in all its fun and romantic glory also included a well worded, intriguing sentence that insured the obvious. I HAVE to read the next story. Consider me obsessed with the thought of Smith’s HEA – now that I have been given a hint of his teddy bear side, I want him to have something he never had. Evan discovered it, now I want Smith to have it. The big question is, how long do I have to wait to find out? That’s the mark of a well written book – the yearning for more of the good stuff. Handle with Care is definitely good stuff and if that’s the quality Ms. Harte is known to write, which I believe she is, then wanting more is a no-brainer. I’m in.

The action, the suspense, the not knowing and the twist and turns of Prime politics is dizzying in its scope. 400 pages aren’t enough, and yet, they are. I feel like I am on the ground floor of something big, momentous and altogether dangerous. The Hidden Legacy series is a must read and Sapphire Flames just proves my point.

Catalina is growing up before my eyes. In the original three books in the series, she was just Nevada’s beloved younger sister with a very unique power. In this newest book, she’s owning her power, shouldering her responsibilities and starting to accept her role as Head of House Baylor. Her growing pains are real because her injuries are real. So much is thrown at her that I’m very grateful for her 3 years of training. And yet, she’s faced with so many decisions that can hurt or help the people she loves, it’s a bit overwhelming. How the author had her handling things, making the kinds of choices she did and giving me a chance to see inside Catalina’s thought processes made it very personal to me. The heroine is a heroine because she does what needs to be done in spite of her being scared, terrified and sometimes wishing it would all go away. I also appreciated that she was loyal to her family and those she calls friends. That loyalty was sure put to the test.

Alessandro is an enigma. Yes, he is sexy, strong, and off the charts magically talented. I have no idea what he can actually do but I received teases and hints with his interaction with Duncan. I get the sense that unlike his previous fiancés, he might be serious about Catalina. I hope so because I actually like the guy, even though he’s super secretive. I also think he’s really good for and with Catalina. I wish I could get into his head but this novel is first person POV so I only know what the heroine knows when she knows it. I’m as intrigued by Alessandro as she is. I totally cracked up when he sneaked a bite of Catalina’s veggie. That was one of the funniest moments in the story.

There was action, action and more action in this book. I never knew who was going to turn into what and I worried for some of the characters in harm’s way. I really wanted the heroine to rescue Runa’s family member and that was a great part of the mystery. Who did it and why? How did they do it and how can they be stopped? Tagging along with Catalina and Alessandro as they chase the clues was exciting.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the hints of romance between the two heats up in the next book. The two of them were practically smoking from the sparks of their passion. I was worried that it would be unrequited. I worried for nothing. It’s there, it’s brewing and it’s oh so powerful. I can’t wait to see them explode. I hope they do. I had a taste of it and it wasn’t enough. I want Catalina to be 100% herself and I want the same for the hero. That would be fun because the hero is just so yummy and I think he’d make her very, very satisfied.

I assure you, Sapphire Flames is loaded with stuff to share. Like how she got a dog, what those icky bug things did, why it was so important to help Runa and how cool of a character Duncan really is. The dialogue was great and the pace was consistently well balanced. I tried to read this book in one day. I tried so hard but there was too much goodness and not enough time to take it all in. I didn’t want the story to end. I wanted to see what would happen next but the epilogue proved to me that it was impossible. I was teased with something so fascinating and unexpected I was stunned. That was when I realized what was needed – another book.

As you can probably tell, I enjoyed this novel to the max and highly recommend it. The world that Ms. Andrews has created is incredible!

This time it’s different. Rann hasn’t been able to get the beautiful Season out of his mind. While on his mission to secure the property, he realizes how much Season loves the land, and…he realizes somewhere along the line, Season has stolen his heart.

And he’s forced to become as dangerous and as lethal as Charlotte.

Did you ever read a book and not want it to end? This is how I feel about this book. I actually feel like re-reading it right now. I feel like the suspense/mystery parts were so intense that I read them too fast to find out what would happen next. Now that I know how it all played out I’d like to read it slower without the anxiety and soak it all in. I also want to re-read it again because I loved Rann Brogan, the hero. I want him to talk to me the way he talked to Season, the heroine. By the way, I loved her name. Between her name, their relationship and the suspense, this is an unforgettable book. I can’t think of a better title than Season, Unforgettable, because it was.

This book packed a punch. I felt a gamut of emotions as I was reading – from happy, joy, fear, laughter, sad and, my favorite, love. The cast of characters were well developed and very relatable. I adored Season’s grandfather, Duna, who was very sweet and kind. I especially got a laugh from one of Rann’s friend’s name which is totally irrelevant to the story but I have to share. I had a secret crush on a boy all four years of high school named Heath. I’ve never met another human with that name. Seeing it in print made me laugh. Like I said, totally irrelevant but it was a flashback for me. Season, Rann and his friends also played a drinking game that I played back in the day that I haven’t thought about in years. Sharing those similarities made the book more special to me.

If the synopsis sounds interesting to you then I definitely suggest taking the time to read it. This book is impossible to predict which makes the story all the more fun and interesting. There were a couple of plot twists that I never would have guessed in a million years. This is my first Keta Diablo book and I would definitely read another book written by her. I absolutely loved Season, Unforgettable!

Read Lis Mitchell’s magical realist tale, Blue Morphos in the Garden, a Tor.com original short story. When Vivian and her daughter witness the family matriarch die without leaving a corpse, Vivian can no longer ignore the family “gift” or the choice that lies before her.

The twist in this tale was something I’ve never seen in this genre before. It had to do with what happens to all of the members of a special family after they die. While the first scene does explain about how their deaths are different from the deaths of ordinary humans, I honestly can’t go into any more detail about it than that without giving away spoilers. Let’s just say that it was hauntingly beautiful and is best discovered by new readers without any additional hints.

I was highly impressed with the character development, especially given the fact that the author had less than two dozen pages to work with here. Vivian and her partner both had well-rounded personalities that revealed themselves early on and quickly began to evolve as a result of both of their reactions to the latest death in the family. This couldn’t have been better written, and it’s made me curious to read more from Ms. Mitchell as soon as possible.

The world building was well done, too. Vivian’s extended family has lived on the same property for generations without revealing their secret to the surrounding community. Every nook and cranny of their land is filled with references to those who lived there in the past. I was as fascinated by the references to the lives of everyone who had once lived there as I was by the fact that they’d been able to keep such a big secret for so long. All of these little details created a setting that felt three-dimensional and real.

Blue Morphos in the Garden was one of the best science fiction short stories I’ve read so far this year. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
