Princess Bria Visconti demands the return of the money her brother rashly invested in Cutter Salvage. Treasure hunter Nick Cutter is too reckless, too arrogant—and far too handsome—for his own good. But he can’t charm his way out of this one. Bria plans to make Nick pay up even if she has to board his boat, don a wet suit, and dive for the treasure herself…

Nick sees Bria as a beautiful but spoiled princess who’s never done a day’s work in her pampered life. But once they set sail for the dive site, and the legendary fortune in gold the wreck carries, Nick begins to see Bria in a new light. This princess may be out of her depth, but she’s ready to take on the hidden danger and excitement a treasure hunt stirs to the surface. Together they must fight unexpected enemies—and reveal their darkest secrets—before they’re pulled into a rip current of danger.

Seekers of adventure, treasure hunting, intrigue, double-crosses and high seas romances can’t go wrong with Riptide. This high impact tale is told at a speed that made me breathless. There is so much going on, so many nuances that taint a simple relationship with tension, mistrust and high stakes, it’s amazing the hero and hero had time to fall in love.

Nick and Bria, right from the very first chapter, were at odds with each other. Of course one of them didn’t know it at the time and when the other found out, it wasn’t a warm and fuzzy moment. That pretty much sums up this whole reading experience. It’s not cute or silly or lame. It’s hard edged, gritty, dramatic and suspenseful.

The only people I could trust in the story were the names Nick listed plus the heroine. He was never too sure about her. I’m pretty sure it’s not because she gave him ammunition to feel that way. I certainly didn’t pick up on any anything she did or said to give him that impression. It’s because the hero reacted so icily to Bria, so in control and arrogant to an almost inhuman degree that clued me in that when he eventually did succumb to Cupid’s arrow, Nick was going to go down hard. And he did, and I loved every wonderful and explosive moment of it. For a man whose nickname is Spock, he was more volatile than Kirk or Scotty at their most stressed.

Bria is quite the mixed bag of contradictions. She is polished, clever, sweet and sassy and has one heck of a raging temper when she lets fly. Of course the only person that inspires her to let it rip was Nick. He pushed her buttons big time. I was entertained at her temper tantrums because I never knew what she was going to do. I giggled at her decorating, laughed out loud at her verbal profanities and got a kick out of her penchant to throw things. Another aspect of her character I appreciated was her training. It was nice to see a regular woman being able to defend herself and not fall to pieces in a crisis without having to credit some super secret spy agency.

Oh, the super secret T-FLAC agency does give a cameo performance but they were not as impressive as they’ve been in the past. The goobers. For all of their access to fancy and sophisticated technology, they didn’t discover the very intricate and well thought out evil plot when it would have done the hero and heroine the most good. And, when Nick needed their help, something never seemed to go right. For this adventure, Nick Cutter has to rely on his own brains, wit and alpha tendencies and ended up partnering with the last person he’d ever expected to, Bria. What fun.

More amazing surprises were in store for me with the revelation of a secret identity. It was bittersweet and the timing couldn’t have been worse but Ms. Adair knew what she was doing. The introduction of this person means that a future book is going to be an auto-buy for me. There is no way that there won’t be a story about this, it’s awesome.

Another thing I liked was the dialogue. I loved seeing Nick’s paranoia rationalized. I enjoyed Bria’s determination and internal pep talks to out ice Nick’s Spock demeanor and fire him up. There is not one scene that didn’t work for me, not one chapter that was slow or weak. Everything that happens does so for a reason and the result is a masterful bit of mystery, treachery and grand storytelling.

Riptide is a pulse-pounding read that thoroughly entertains and provides a stunning and satisfying happily ever after. As soon as Bria steps foot aboard Nick’s boat, the Scorpion, the action never stops. Readers will be hard pressed to put down the book. Every chapter has a hook that won’t let go, compiled with revelations and suspicions that can keep a reader wide-eyed and riveted. This is the kind of story that can make time cease to exist. The adventure is that good. The romance is that wild and I had a grand time discovering the truth. Pick up a copy and see for yourself.

Black Knights Inc.—Behind the facade of their tricked–out motorcycle shop is an elite special ops team assigned the jobs too hot for anyone else to handle.

Hold On Tight…

Ex–Marine Nate “Ghost” Weller is an expert at keeping his cool—and his distance—which makes him one hell of a sniper. It’s also how he keeps his feelings for Ali Morgan in check. Sweet, sexy Ali has always revved his engine, but she’s his best friend’s baby sister…and totally off limits.

Rough Road Ahead

Ali’s never seen anything sexier than Nate Weller straddling his custom Harley—or the flash of danger in his eyes when she tells him she’s in trouble. First something happened to her brother, and now she’s become the target of a nasty international organization. With Nate, her life is in the most capable hands possible—but her heart is another story altogether.

Edgy, raw emotions, graphic, often horrific, descriptions of man’s inhumanity to man, and the breathtaking, joyous love scenes celebrating life make Hell on Wheels throb with life. Carefully placed in among these extremes is the gentle, sweet humor of a kindergarten teacher and the caustic humor of the black ops people that gives the story a touch of normalcy when evil threatens chaos. Woven together all of these things make bold and subtle designs in a tapestry that reveals much about each of the intriguing characters. Also in the design, the dark thread of death is ever present.

Even though off-putting at times, the cryptic, often crude language seems to be a coping devise that many of the characters use to get past the incredible horrors they have dealt with and will continue to deal with to help make the world a little safer.

Time and again the petite kindergarten teacher, Ali Morgan, wonders whose life she’s living as she’s mugged, bugged, and tailed. It’s certainly not her own quiet life. In desperation she runs from North Carolina to Chicago to seek the help of her dead brother’s partner when the police do nothing to help her. She stays the mild, gentle little person everyone sees until push-comes-to-shove then the black ops people see her cupcake façade covers a tough-as-nails determination and abilities to fight that her brother Grigg had taught her as she grew up. She’s no pushover. However, she has few defenses when it comes to Nate Weller. Her heart just won’t give up on him even though his surliness toward her is like a ‘no trespassing’ sign.

Nathan “The Ghost” Weller had been Grigg’s partner in clandestine missions for years and he’d been in love with Ali since the first time he saw her when she was still in high school. But she was and is totally off-limits to him. The tough, battle-scarred Nate now carries so much guilt about Grigg’s being dead and his being alive he feels he must stay away from her. It’s not easy when she shows up with a hair-raising story that has all the markings of being tied to Grigg’s activities before he died. Nate’s surly attitude, he uses as a defense against her, weakens as they work to unravel the mysterious happenings that sent her running to him for help. Her sunny, happy nature brings light to his dark world.

The secondary characters ratchet up the action as they each do their job to unravel the mystery. Ozzie, the computer geek with an off-beat sense of humor, makes life interesting for all besides being a mighty force in getting the information needed and getting it with breakneck speed. Of course, he’s not above thoroughly enjoying checking Ali’s luggage for bugs, especially her interesting lingerie—which WAS bugged.

The intrepid Rebecca “Rebel” Reichert with her many talents and her unrequited love for the ‘older’ Frank Knight “The Boss” creates some high tension. She also reaches out and touches the reader’s heart when she feels crushed by Frank Knight’s hard-nosed response to her special hopes and dreams (hope there’s a story about these two forthcoming)

The antagonist and his henchmen create suspense that revs up the adrenaline to a fever pitch. The power-hungry senator seems to have no redeeming qualities. His self-centeredness and craving for power is incredible. How he finally gets his comeuppance is SO satisfying.

Julie Ann Walker’s writing style hooks the reader’s attention from word one and never lets it go. The incredible descriptions of emotions, places, actions, and people put the reader right with the characters so that every one of the senses is on alert. The humor sparkles–even the dark humor sparkles like a black diamond that has many facets and secrets. Moreover, the love scenes are breathtaking, earth-shattering and, yes, exquisite-like coming home. Yet, while she mesmerizes with an entertaining story, she creates compelling situations that seem like current events one might read about in the daily paper. The undercurrent of the never-ending struggle to keep intact the freedom we all enjoy and so often take for granted makes Hell on Wheels a fantastic novel.

She plays a deadly game, but nothing is as dangerous as love.

Benedict de Malorie, Earl of Trevisan, can never forget the masked woman he met one night at a London pleasure garden. The clever pickpocket stole his heart and his family’s prized jewel – the Malorie Phoenix. But the family treasure reappears in Benedict’s darkest hour, returned by its thief, along with the unexpected gift of his infant daughter.

Believing that she is dying, Jenny Smith leaves her daughter in the custody of the baby’s blueblood father. Seven years later she finds herself in good health and alone, yearning for her only child. To raise enough money to support them both, she takes part in a daring escapade that requires her to impersonate a woman of quality. She fools the ton and Benedict himself.

When Jenny finds herself entangled in a murderous plot against Benedict, the father of her child, her carefully laid plans begin to fall apart. All she wants is her daughter back, but she never thought she’d fall in love with Benedict. Revealing her part in the plot means she will almost certainly lose Benedict and their daughter forever. But continuing to play her role puts them all in terrible danger.

False identities, murder, mystery, and kidnap, The Malorie Phoenix has it all. It would be a mistake to dismiss Ms. Mullany’s book as ‘just another’ same-old-same-old. It is not.

While the plot is not new, the treatment is refreshing, the writing clean, sometimes poignant, well paced and vivid. If I had to retrace my reading steps at the beginning and a bit near the end, perhaps it was more a matter of this reader familiarising herself with the writer’s style than plot holes.

Jenny Smith, Ms Mullany’s heroine, is no sweet, simpering pre-Regency Miss. She’s surviving in a harsh environment the only way she knows how. And yet from the start we are shown her integrity and her weaknesses. She’s a character who caught my attention and empathy from the beginning. If Jenny made a couple of mistakes that seemed totally out of character, while I found them irritating I had to acknowledge the author had my emotions raised and therefore was succeeding in involving me in her story and characters.

The circumstances of Benedict de Malorie’s meeting with Jenny had me anxious to see how it would pan out. The hero’s subsequent actions took a little believing and perhaps that particular scene was only one of two I had a little trouble accepting. But it plays a pivotal role in the rest of the story which more than makes up for it.

The story plot is well thought out and well paced. The supporting characters all have substance and had me either loving or hating them.

Ms. Mullany offers a few unexpected twists in The Malorie Phoenix which added to the suspense, and I am so glad that the Stanleys took Jenny into their hearts.

I enjoyed The Malorie Phoenix for its story, plot and characters. This is the first book of hers I’ve read, and I would look out for more. If you enjoy a London-based romance set just before the official Regency period, then this is a book well worth considering.

ALL FEAR THE ENEMY OF OLD

Driven by his insatiable need for revenge, Lothaire, the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, plots to seize the Horde’s crown by offering up the soul of his lovely new captive, Elizabeth Peirce. Yet the young human soon tempts him beyond reason.

A DEADLY FORCE DWELLS WITHIN HER

Ellie Peirce’s life was a living hell—even before an evil immortal abducted her. Though he plans to sacrifice her, the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, she surrenders her body, while vowing to protect her heart.

CENTURIES OF COLD INDIFFERENCE SHATTERED

In one month, Lothaire must choose between a millennia-old blood vendetta and his irresistible prisoner. Will he succumb to the miseries of his past . . . or risk everything for a future with her?

This book should be called “How to Fall in Love with the Bad Guy Everyone Loves to Hate” because that is what this amazing and nail biting romance story is all about. As much of a loathsome, power hungry, arrogant and cruel man Lothaire has been in all the previous books in the series, this time the love story is epic because it ends up redeeming a character that was thought to be irredeemable. The almost insane vampire falls head over fangs for a woman possessed. Doesn’t that sound awesome? Believe me, it is.

One thing that surprised me the most was how romantic and sweet Lothaire ended up being, which is saying a lot because all the other tales in the series were all romantic to one degree or another. However, I found them to be dark and sort of mired in violence so reading them hasn’t been a comfortable experience, especially the last few. That’s why, when I picked up Lothaire I was a bit wary because I had gotten to know how vicious and deprived of a moral compass his character had been and I was sure that there’d be even more violence and darkness in the book. Ms. Cole could have knocked me over with a feather. Despite the blood thirsty nature of Lothaire and the initial villain, Soroya, the book wasn’t nearly as dark and depressing as it could have been. In fact, it was full of warped humor, funny dialogue between Lothaire and Elizabeth and amazing loving, once they got to that point.

The story is told in Lothaire’s point of view and Elizabeth’s. My favorite is the hero’s because finally I got to understand what formed him, drove him, warped him and tortured him. In a few cases the torture was literal. Poor guy, he really was misunderstood. The thing of it is, he preferred that, fostered it and made everybody around him miserable because it was a form of power and protection. You can’t be hurt if you had no heart or sentiments to injure. And that’s why I loved Elizabeth. She eventually got through his shields and the hero had his world turned upside down. He tried to remain as he was but the heroine, just be being herself, twisted him up in knots. It was the absolute best reading experience because she frustrated him, fascinated him and turned him into a mass of raging hormones. It was fun!

Lothaire might not be the enemy in this book but he has plenty of threats to deal with. Soroya was a scary and demented character. When she got her comeuppance from a very unexpected source, it was a freaky scene. The bargaining chip worries me. If that person is truly as evil as depicted, the Lore has a new worry and I’m almost afraid to contemplate what that will mean to the characters I’ve come to know and love throughout the series. I wish I could talk about this openly with other readers because the possibilities are mind boggling. Then again, it might be Ms. Cole being clever and introducing a new story thread to breathe new life into the series. If so, she succeeded. The one major hint that excited me was Lothaire’s decision to help Phenix. The author has mentioned the subject quite a few times in past books but this is the first time that it sounds like a decision has been made. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

The relationship between Lothaire and Elizabeth is contentious. She likes to talk, he doesn’t. She wants to understand, he doesn’t feel the need to explain himself. He commands, she butts heads. He expects her to turn her back on her past, and she fights to keep it and grab for more. There is so much internal angst and yet the author handled it so well, it was entertaining and fascinating. I especially got a kick out of the scenes with the sword, the head, the heart and the finger and the ornery dog. How they make this story great has to be read to be understood. It was awesome. I was equally horrified and snorting with shocked humor. Ms. Cole’s characters sure know how to make a statement. Oh, I forgot the Mothman. I’m still giggling over that line.

Most surprising was Elizabeth’s family. What a wonderful addition to the cast of characters and their role is integral in solidifying the hero and heroine’s relationship into one that will endure, much to Lothaire’s consternation. In fact, the epilogue filled me with glee. Ms. Cole injected very human demands and expectations into the royal mix and created an optimistic, delightful and extremely satisfying happy ever after that even now has me grinning ear to ear.

Lothaire is the best of The Immortals After Dark series. This is a book I can brag to all my friends about with utter confidence that I’m recommending a story that will keep them on the edge of their seat. There is so much going on and each chapter reveals new hooks that simply astound and amaze. Whether it be the twisted nature of the villain, the revelations of Lothaire’s young life or the convoluted path of true love for Elizabeth and the hero, the author succeeded in surprising me at every turn and made me want to read more, more, more! I’m exceedingly happy that I read this novel and any fan of this series has something to look forward to when they pick up their own copy. I firmly believe that this can be considered a standalone read, but reading about the characters that came before and Lothaire’s role in them would greatly enhance the sheer pleasure of seeing the villain turned hero as he did in this book. I’m a happy reader.

Jeweled veil weighing heavily on her head, Zoe Martin waits for her sheikh husband-to-be. The shame of her adoptive family, orphan Zoe has endured six years of being kept as a slave—now she’s been sold into marriage…to a man known as The Beast!

Being discarded to the sheikh has one bonus—this could mean freedom! Zoe must play along with the three-day—and three-night—ceremony, but she isn’t expecting the blazing attraction from just one stolen glance at playboy sheikh Nadir.…

The clashing of culture and customs create quite the conflict in this very emotional tale. An American woman faces the challenge of surviving a harsh and unforgiving country and grasps at any opportunity to escape. But ducking the surprising bonds of love turns out to be harder to break than the heroine thought, especially if they’re real.

Ms. Carr set up the whole vehicle for strife and distrust right from the very beginning. It was easy to accomplish because Zoe has been abused, humiliated and treated like dirt for many years and is stuck in a country that looks down upon her. What I liked about Zoe is that she wasn’t broken. Not yet at any rate. She still had hopes and dreams but she played them extremely close to her chest. She had to for self-preservation’s sake. She gambles with her life and although in the beginning it seems like she had lost, her journey was just beginning.

Nadir is a man who straddles both worlds. He understands duty and tradition but he’s also expected to bring his country into the modern age with technology and business. That’s hard to do when what he’s trying to do is a lie based on the fact that his countrymen don’t support his methods. It takes a man of extreme focus and determination pared with ruthless actions and business savvy to make it work. The author created a man that readers can root for because he doesn’t wear blinders. Sure he resorts to Neanderthal ways every now and again, that’s to be expected and makes for some hot spicy scenes with Zoe. But it’s his willingness to listen to Zoe, eventually, proved that he might not have been wearing blinders but had instead a version of rose colored glasses. It took Zoe’s impromptu intervention to show him how much her input should be valued. It’s at that point in the book that he became a true hero in my eyes.

Fortunately, the author did not go into any graphic detail regarding Zoe’s treatment by her uncle. The descriptions were heartbreaking enough. And her cousin Fatima is no Strawberry Shortcake either. I find it amazing that women can survive and rise above such treatment given half the chance. Nadir gave Zoe that chance and that made reading this story bearable. I found this book hard to read at times. I mean, I’m an American woman and I don’t have to censure what I say, what I wear or how I walk. To be expected to be less than what I am at all times would eventually break me. The thought is depressing. Putting myself in the heroine’s position was a very uncomfortable place to be and that’s a credit to the author’s writing. If her writing was any less stark or tight, my emotions would not have been affected. They were, in a big way.

The most beautiful part of the story was when I realized that both Nadir and Zoe were falling in love. What one did for the other because they wanted to, needed to, spoke volumes of how far both of them had come by the end of the story. As with most types of these books, the ploy of overhearing part of a conversation that leads to one more piece of drama before it all gets resolved and everyone gets their happily ever after was utilized effectively. I was a bit shocked as to the source. For some reason I thought he would have understood or at least respected that Nadir was actually, finally, happy. I kind of hope that he gets his own feisty heroine someday, then he’ll understand.

The Tarnished Jewel of Jazaar is a book that entertains and takes a reader on a journey filled with emotions and feelings. The finale was peaceful, romantic and true to all time-loved happily ever after endings. The dialogue is insightful, the romance scenes were wonderfully done and although harsh at times, the story is compelling. It’s a quick tale but well worth taking the time to read.

Guys don’t tend to find gals with guns too sexy. So after years of awkward fumblings, deputy Shelly Lancaster is lookin’ for a man . Not for love—good Lord, no. She just wants some hot, heavy and unforgettable sex with a man who knows exactly what he’s doing!

As it turns out, Shelly’s just found the perfect guy. Cowboy Colton Braddock is tasty as hell—and one of the perks of being a vampire is that he has years of hot, lusty loving under his belt. Unfortunately, this cowboy also has a wicked thirst for vengeance. But will it prove stronger than his hunger for her?

This romance has the perfect bite!

I’ll admit right away that I’m a sucker for Kimberly Raye’s books. Yes. I love her vampires and when I got the chance to nab this book, I jumped. This book is part of a series and yes, I’ve read the others, but I didn’t have to in order to know what was going on. The writing was tight and flowed well, drawing me right into the story. And yeah, the sexy cowboy vampire didn’t hurt one bit.

This book grabbed me from the start. A want-ad with sexy connotations and one glaring mistake. Shelly’s name printed right on it. Oh and her email, too. Yeah, what a way to begin a novel. I loved it. She wanted to let go and experience a man with experience. Interesting premise, especially for hot romance–it’s usually a story arc reserved for erotic romance. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a sweet romance by any means. It’s hot and when Shelly and Colton really get going, they steamed up my glasses. I liked seeing the other characters from the previous books in the series. This also looks like it could be a wrap up of the series, to which I beg Ms. Raye to continue anyway. Did I mention I love her cowboy vamps? I sure do!

If you want a book that’s got lots of heat, a sheriff willing to offer her body to one scintillating vampire and a guy with fangs (yes, he knows how to use them), then this is the book for you.

The shy, studious one among the royal Devereaux family of Chantaine, Pippa wasn’t known for controversy.

So her brief romance with Texas tycoon Nic Lafitte—of the detested-by-the-Devereaux Lafittes—had to end. Too bad Pippa couldn’t get the darkly handsome, modern-day outlaw out of her mind!

Given their generations-long family feud, Nic was stunned when the sweet princess secretly defied the Devereaux clan to fulfill a Lafitte’s dying wish. But if Nic gave in to his attraction to Pippa, he’d break her heart—again. He tried to resist her…until a night of passion led to a little Devereaux-Lafitte! Now the royal and the Texan have to somehow bring two worlds, and two families, together.

This tender and poignant romance is a read-in-one-sitting story with elements that might require a box of tissues to be on hand. Ms. Banks put a lot of heart and soul into creating her characters because if she hadn’t, I wouldn’t have cared as much as I did about Nic or Pippa.

Many books are written about feuding families and a child from each growing up and somehow overcoming their differences and fall in love. That’s the basis for this tale but the author put a different spin on what brings the hero and heroine together. In fact it was so effective, it zinged directly to where my heart was softest and my emotions the most vulnerable.

The back cover blurb was a bit misleading. This tale is solidly about the growing relationship between Pippa and Nic. It’s about the hurdles they had to overcome, the preconceived notions of the past and one woman’s kind-hearted, compassionate and strong moral compass. I think Pippa did the most growing and in the process, she taught her own family about forgiveness and redemption. Certainly the power of love cannot be denied. I’m not talking about physical love between the sheets. I mean the love between a son and his mother, the love of family and the love between a wife and her husband. All of those are what makes life worth living and the sacrifices that are made to protect that love is what gives this story the power it has to affect a reader’s emotions.

Pippa was a delight. She’s a bird in a royal gilded cage and she struggled to be what her family wanted and needed her to be. But it wasn’t what she needed. It wasn’t until she met Nic, then his mother, that gave her a better understanding of just how trapped she was, what she was missing and it gave her the inspiration to strike out for independence. It’s not without cost but I admired the heroine’s character because she was willing to pay the price. She didn’t love her family any less, but there’s another kind of love worth fighting for, she just didn’t realize that’s what she was doing in the beginning. A reader can see her love for Nic grow. The author puts hints here and there, little phrases or internal comments from Pippa’s POV that showed the progression of her connection to Nic.

Nic was a surprise. At first, readers are under the same impression as the Devereaux family, that he’s no good, a bad influence and to be avoided. However, once I got to watch him with his mother, watch him as he responded to Pippa, I grew to adore his character. Still waters run deep and what Nic bears on his shoulders is impressive and yet he never made a big deal about it. A lesser man would have buckled and run from such responsibility. Not Nic Lafitte. Towards the end, a reader gets full disclosure and it will simply astound a person that the hero bore what he did. Every mother should be blessed with a son like Nic. It brought tears to my eyes.

The tears really showed up with the introduction of Amelie, Nic’s mom. The strength of her character and its influence fueled the plot’s conflict as it weaved throughout the book. It affected how the hero and heroine came together, and what kept them together. Shared pain tends to be a bonding experience between people and the fact that Pippa ended up loving Nic’s mom as much as he did truly tugged the heartstrings. It was beautiful as it was tragic. Ms. Banks treated Amelie with respect all the way through. Her pain, her hopes, her little joys, all made her character real so when the eventual thing happened, it was all the more powerful. The paragraph with the butterflies was the most stark and heartfelt of the whole book. That’s when I needed the tissues.

I liked the dialogue, the character interaction and the pacing of the story. I enjoyed how the romance grew and matured and I had a lot of fun meeting Goldie, one of Nic’s helpers at the cottage. I liked the family component with all its prickles and spines and I was entertained with the all the little kids running around the palace.

The Princess and the Outlaw is a book about heart, family and love. It illustrates what is really important in life and that historical grudges have no value or power except to hurt and destroy. The strongest characters, and the ones that make the most impact on a reader, are those that stand up for what they believe in and pursue their dreams into the future. That is what Nic and Pippa eventually do and what makes this story work so well. It’s an awesome read and well worth taking the time to spend it getting to know Nic and Pippa. You’ll be glad you did.

He’s a Marine…she grew up on a commune.

He always puts duty first…she’s a free spirit with an unshakable belief in Fate.

He loves routine and order…she brings chaos and creativity wherever she goes.

They’re going to balance each other perfectly—or drive each other completely, utterly insane…

On a wild pre-deployment celebration in Las Vegas, Captain Timothy O’Shay encounters free-spirited beauty Skye McDermott, and for once lets down his guard. Now his life is about to take off in directions he never could have imagined…

A Girl’s Night Out (GNO) ends in an “I do”…is it Vegas or is it Fate? Only time will tell.

Lieutenant Timothy O’Shay doesn’t make snap decisions, that could be fatal in his line of work. He certainly doesn’t do it when even a little bit drunk. Well, not normally, anyway. One decision to “let go and live in the moment” will forever change his life in the form of one curvy, nature loving brunette. Sometimes you have to give up control and give fate a hand.

Skye McDermott was not raised in the military. She doesn’t have a clue about rank, the Corps or military protocols. But she does know that what she felt the first time she touched Timothy O’Shay was real and meant something. She’s not sure what it meant but walking away and not giving their marriage (for what it was worth) a fair shot wasn’t an option for her. Her open mind will be tested to its limits when faced with the stricture of the military life. It’ll take more than a stiff shirt CO and his less than welcoming wife to send her packing. Doubts about her ability to be the wife Tim needs…that’s a different story.

I can’t get enough of stories that make me proud of our service men and women. The Officer Says I Do introduced me to three honorable men who chose to serve and structure their lives around the military they live and breathe. Ms. Murray doesn’t skimp on the character building. I knew who Tim was before the military and who were his influences. I met his parents, and his sister was a pivotal member of the cast. The same with Skye. Her family is brought into the picture and her background is clearly drawn out. It gave me a solid foundation to watch how she and Tim grew as a couple. It was beautiful and refreshing how honest and open they were with each other. Tim is a bit an alpha but it’s mostly in the bedroom and even the feminist in Skye can’t help but melt when this soldier gives a command.

Book Two in this series is slated for January 2013 but I’m not sure whose story it’ll be. I’m hoping for Jeremy and Jessie since the tension was slowly building as a side story in this book. I think the other friend, Dwayne, is going to be a sweetheart when he finds his match. He’s had some heartbreak in the past so it’s clear it’ll take a special woman to get him to embrace the big C (commitment).

If you crave a genuinely sweet and altogether spicy romance with a military flavor, you NEED to pick up a copy of The Officer Says I Do. The clever dialogue will tickle your funny bone while the characters, the chemistry and sensual love story will have you begging for more. An easy recommend and a new favorite writer for me.

Cecily has no desire for a husband. Instead, she plans to follow the example of her spinster aunt—refusing to marry, supporting herself with a modest inheritance and entertaining herself with a stream of lovers and a collection of naughty books. She’s already acquired a taste for sex through her secret stock of books, and she can’t wait to make her vivid fantasies come true.

Forced into attending a house party, Cecily decides to make the best of it—which means taking up with a fop her parents are certain to disapprove of. Perry is no mere fop, though. He’s attending the house party to investigate rumors of espionage…and is definitely not there to find himself a wife.

Cecily and Perry seem like an unlikely pair, but together they’ll learn much about spying, exhilarating passion and true love.

Delightful humor, spying intrigue, breath-catching daydreams, voyeur scenes that sizzle, and a fair share of Regency parent manipulating keep Cecily’s Secret racing along.

This well-written, short novel sparkles with young people trying to outmaneuver parents who are trying to manipulate their young into advantageous marriages. Everyone seems to know the name of the game and accepts the challenge with determination.

Cecily Bettencourt knows her parents are plotters and schemers. She plays along but has a plan of her own. Strongly influenced by her Great-Aunt Alice’s books, Cecily plans to live independently on her inheritance and have lots of lovers.

Her sensual, spicy daydreams heat up the story and keep it on simmer, while activities at the house party keep things moving with twists and turns in the matchmaking and in the spying. Everyone works hard to reach the goal he or she has set.

Pericles Munk (Perry), a late invitee is not one of “the prize-winning bulls” as he so indelicately tells Cecily on their first chance meeting in the garden. He hopes his posing as a fop will be over soon. If this spy job turns out well, he can meet his financial responsibilities and still go back to sheep farming.

The side story of Cecily’s cousin Amelia adds a special touch. As she and Cecily plan, the reader gets to share in the strategy.

Secondary characters like Wilfred, Amelia’s brother and Sebastian, Cecily’s brother, give the reader revealing tidbits of information that enrich the story. Franco Comestibili, the Prince of Persepoli, not really one of the house party guests, plays a unique role in Cecily and Amelia’s strategy.

Trinidad West weaves together an awesome amount of details in this short novel while creating characters that captivate. The smooth writing style slips the reader into the story to enjoy all the goings-on at a matchmaking house party where young women with decided views find true love.
