Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Items/Merchandise I’d Like to Own

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

One of the reasons why I decided to blog about this week’s topic is that I’m a minimalist. There aren’t many physical objects in life that I wish I owned but haven’t already either purchased for myself or been given as gifts by people who know me.

I’d much rather save up and buy a really nice version of something I know I’ll use regularly than get a flimsy version of the same item or buy something similar that doesn’t quite have all of the features I’m looking for.  (Yes, this means I can be a hard person to shop for. It’s something I try to warn new friends about pretty early on.)

Given all of this, I thought it would be a worthwhile challenge to come up with ten practical and useful things for this list. Wish me luck! (Oh, and Long and Short Reviews is not affiliated with either of the sites I’ll be linking to in this post. I included them only to give our readers a better idea of what I was talking about in those sections).

1. All of the Mint and Herbal Tea in the Entire World

Or at least enough of it to get me through the long, cold winter that is looming ahead. I originally started drinking tea when I was in elementary school.

My parents only brought sweets into the house on special ocassions, so tea was my best option for most of the year unless I was genuinely hungry and wanted a salad or apple as a snack, too. On the positive side, this taught me to love this beverage from a very early age.

Now I automatically think of books when I drink tea, and reading often makes me crave tea as well. It’s a beautiful cycle that I hope lasts forever.

2. Novelty Mugs

Speaking of drinking hot liquids, is it ever really possible to have too many mugs? I go through them so quickly during the cold season that this is one of those things I don’t mind having extra copies of. I will use them regularly, especially if they have funny sayings on them.

3. Tote Bags

I’ve been known to use tote bags until their handles disintegrate. They’re good for everything from packing up miscellaneous items for a vacation to bringing home way more library books than I was intending to borrow. Honestly, I use mine every single day…and I could use a few more of them now that I think about it.

4. Book Lights

Occasionally, I wake up far too early in the morning and can’t get back to sleep. When this happens, it sure is nice to have an easy way to shine a light on the pages I’m reading without also filling the entire bedroom with light.
It is not uncommon for users of the medication that viagra generic canada it works greatly to normalize the blood flowing to penile area, in turn relaxing tensed tissues, smooth muscles, heightening cGMP enzyme and nitric oxide to give hard on to male reproductive organ. All of these options can be difficult, especially if there cialis 20mg tablets is little or no flexibility in where the local AD ed courses are taught. That is why by purchasing cipla india viagra and levitra instead of purchase cheap levitra and ronaldgreenwaldmd.com, you can save a good amount of arousal tactics and if it fails the issue will require medical assistance. The 15th to 17th centuries were the most common buy cialis no prescription view over here side effects reported by those participating in the sexual action.
5. Dairy-Free Chocolate

While I do still eat carrots and salad while reading sometimes, there are other stories that demand something a little richer to nibble on as I find out what happens in them next. Due to my milk allergy, I don’t get to do this as often as I’d like, but I do love it when I find a chocolate I can eat at the same time that I’m reading something exciting or scary.

6. Warm Socks

I have no idea why this is so, but I have a hard time concentrating if my feet are cold. Sometimes I specifically seek out my warmest pair of socks before reading something complicated or nuanced so that I’ll be better able to pay attention and figure out what is happening in the story.

7. T-Shirts with Book Quotes Printed on Them

There are bonus points if the quotes are humorous, but really any thought-provoking quote will do. I think you can learn a lot about a person by paying attention to what kinds of messages they’d want to have on their t-shirt.

8. Literary Smart Phone Cases

This is something I just discovered recently, and I really like the idea of walking around with a quote or scene from your favorite book on your smart phone.

9. Little Blank Books for Writing Down Quotes

I used to do this more often before cellphones became capable of storing this kind of information, but I still like the idea of pausing what you’re reading in order to write down a meaningful or uplifting quote. There’s something beautiful about being later being able to go back and read through those quotes.

10. Literary Duvet Covers

For example, I recently saw one that had a picture of Edgar Allen Poe printed on it. If I needed a new duvet cover, I’d go for something creative and unusual like this over a traditional floral pattern in a heartbeat.

What bookish items do you wish you owned?

Comments

  1. I’d actually like all of these, but also I am such a sucker for a good mug. I got banned from buying any more 🙂

  2. Definitely a fan of bookish mugs. I’m also very keen on having a bookish blanket right now for my reading room. Not a duvet, but more like a throw blanket. Pretty sure my boyfriend wouldn’t let me use the duvet cover, haha. 🙂

Here’s my TTT should you be interested:

    • Heh, I hope you get a bookish blanket soon. Depending on what part of the world you live in, temperatures could get pretty cold outside soon. Or at least they will in my area.

  3. What a great list! I too would love to have a literary smart phone case (cue the tiny violin as I lament over the options available for iPhones and the lack of availability for Androids). ?

  4. I’m crazy about tote bags lately! I love the ones from inkandwonders!

  5. Is it possible to have too many mugs? I’d be inclined to say yes (but only because we recently moved back stateside from Germany, where I collected Gluhwein mugs from Christmas markets for seven years, with a really big push the last year). I have mugs lining the top of all of my kitchen cabinets now, and if we ever move again, I’ll have to pack them up (that’s when I’ll believe there are too many of them).

Love your list and hope you have a great week.

    • Wow, that’s a lot of mugs. Do you use all of them, or do you tend to pick the same ones over and over again?

      And thank you.

  6. I can definitely use tea. I brew it by the gallon.

  7. Mint tea! I could drink mint tea all day long and definitely relate it to reading as well. And I can never have enough cute mugs, tote bags or warm socks either 🙂

  8. I want a literary smartphone case too!

Here’s a link to my TTT post for this week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2018/11/top-ten-tuesday-bookish.html

  9. I’m a minimalist also when it comes to reading. All I need is a book and a bookmark with a kitten on it. But I do love me some novelty mugs. The nerdier the better 🙂

  10. I wouldn’t mind a literary duvet cover, but I’d be so afraid of it getting ruined.

  11. OOoh nice ones!! I’d love a literary phone case as well, but I drop my phone sooooo many times! I basically need Lifeproof to make customization cases! LOL.

Thanks for visiting my TTT post!

  12. AWESOME list!! I would love all of these things as well, especially the Literary Duvet Cover!

  13. I actually skipped this post, because I don’t buy a lot of stuff. Seriously, I have one coffee mug I drink out of, but socks, I always want socks.

  14. Grace @ Rebel Mommy Book Blog says

I love mugs!!! I can never have enough. Tea is wonderful!

  15. I meant to put a tote bag on my list, since I have seen some fun ones.
Also, yes to tea. And warm socks.

  16. I collect all the mugs haha so I get it! And I love a good bookish quote on a T-shirt too. 🙂

I’m a late convert to tea but now I love it.

  17. I don’t really have many bookish items either (aside from my books!). I went with candles and it’s something I burn and then get rid of! Loved looking at your list.

    • Thank you.

Yes, candles are another good choice. I prefer the unscented ones, but all candles are beautiful to look at.

  18. Bookish clothing is pretty high up on my want list. I don’t have any (actually I have a pair of socks that is based on a book!), but a shirt with a bookish quote and/or art !!!! I WANT 20!!!
Literary Duvet covers is one that I hadn’t thought of!! That would be an awesome product to have. Double awesome if it’s based on a book you love!!
    Great list!!
    Happy Reading!! <3

  19. I might need one of those phone cases!

  20. Lots of fun bookish items here. And I can never have too many bookish mugs. I’d have a whole cupboard full of them if I had the space.

  21. This is a great general list!! I definitely have some of these on my list as well. Especially more blank notebooks with it being NaNoWriMo this month. Have a fantastic week!

  22. I’m a minimalist, too. If I buy something bookish, I want it to be useful. I like t-shirts and totes. I could always use more of those.

  23. A very practical list! I love carrying around tote bags. I have one that I carry to work with me, one that I visit the library with, and one for other occasions! XD

  24. I love tote bags too, and have a couple of bookish ones that I love taking to the library or the bookshop ?

  25. This is such a good list! Tea and mugs especially – yes, please. 😀 My spouse and I have a whole cabinet full of mugs and we never seem to be able to stop collecting them. I got a new Legend of Zelda one as a very early Christmas gift today and I love it,

  26. You’ve got a great list. Recently I got my hands on a Rosie the Riveter-inspired Hermione Granger t-shirt. 🙂

  27. I love tote bags. And yeah I totally like to have items that are most usefull too, like those on your list.

  28. I love a good bookish tote bag! I carry a spare one with me most days as I never know when I might need one! I’m also really interested in bookish clothing – but I’m really picky about what quotes or designs I wear!

    • Yes, tote bags are wonderful. It makes sense to be choosy about which quotes or designs you wear. Clothing can help to make a powerful first impression.

  29. Cute literary tees are the best. The ones I have are comfy with some of my favorite characters quoted or celebrated. 🙂

Thanks bunches for visiting Finding Wonderland. My apologies for the return visit delay.

  30. I’m a tote bag junkie. lol Always nice to have more of them. Especially if they have bookish things on them 🙂
