When Sapphire Jewel turns to him on the final evening he’s assigned to protect her, ex-Army Ranger and security expert Jake Knight sweeps her into bed. His personality and his profession have shaped him into a man who needs to be in control of all aspects of his life, especially in the bedroom. He’s not into the whole dominant/submission BDSM thing, but he does need to be the dominant force when it comes to physical relationships. Fearing his sexual demands are too much for Sapphire to handle, Jake does the only thing he can to protect her—he leaves her.

Sapphire is in love with her bodyguard. One night of intense, passionate sex has him running for the door and she doesn’t know why. When Jake unexpectedly shows up in her life again, she must decide if she can live with the sexual demands he’ll make of her. But most of all, she must decide if she can once again risk her heart.

Sapphire Jewel seduces her bodyguard Jake Knight on the last night he’s assigned to her. He breaks her heart when after a night of passion, he leaves and tells her they can’t see each other again. Fast forward to Sapphire out on a date with an entitled arrogant man who thinks dinner buys Sapphire for the night, in steps Jake to save her.

This is the beginning of two souls finding each other again and working to make their relationship stick. Jake is controlling in the bedroom, he needs and craves the control in a world where everything is out of control. This isn’t a BDSM story, he isn’t into the rituals and the toys. He just wants to be in control so he controls the situation and can allow himself to let go. Sapphire, is a very independent lady but finds she craves the feeling that giving up control gives her.

I haven’t read any of the other stories in this series, but I easily dived into this story. There are some scorching hot sex scenes. The chemistry between Jake and Sapphire is off the charts. I liked that Jake easily committed to Sapphire and showed his caring and loving side even if he took a while to admit to love. Sapphire was great, she knew she wanted Jake and was able to reconcile what he needed with what she was willing to give. I liked being able to see her thought process and that she didn’t just say this has to work, she actually thought it through.

I loved every minute of this story, and I read long into the night to finish it. This is the book for fans of scorching love stories with Alpha men and the woman who love them.
