Madison Sevier is a new-to-me author and I’m glad I picked up this book. There were moments of telling versus showing me the story, but that wasn’t a big issue. Once I opened the book, I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what would happen next. I’m glad this is a series because the ending came way too fast for me and I wanted to know more about these characters.

One issue I did have was with Kallie. I liked that she wasn’t easily broken. She’s a tough cookie and knows what she wants. I loved how she stood up to JB, her boss. I could relate to her various issues–getting her items broken and that run of luck. I’ve been there and it was nice to read a character with the same problems. Near the end, I thought her toughness melted a tad too easily. I understand why the author wrote her the way she did, but I almost thought Kallie needed to keep her backbone a little longer. That said, I could understand why Kallie did what she did. We all make choices and I’m glad she followed her heart.

If you’re interested in a hot read for the beach, then this might be the book for you. I recommend it.
