Our dork of destiny rides again!

Edger is falling for Mary, his bodyguard, kick-ass spy, and cover wife. But she’s so hopelessly out of his league, it’s clear someone’s going to get hurt. Less clear? That someone may be the Prime Minister of Australia.

When Mary confesses her desire to kill the world leader whose assassination Edger’s supposed to prevent, Edger’s superpowers pick the worst time to stop working. Without a fully functional psychic superhero, their team of spies can no longer order him to probe Mary’s mind for ill intent. The stage is set for a confrontation that threatens to strip a defenseless Edger of his loyal protector just when he needs her most.

Return to the Collective Unconscious, this time with Listerine-chugging stoners, Hollyweirdos, commie-alien-kung fu robots, one space gorilla-unicorn, and an exceedingly lovesick Vladimir Putin.

Mind your fingers and toes on page 270. Those skydiving mind-control monkeys have been known to bite!

This is the second book in the series, but I didn’t have any trouble figuring out what was going on. I’m sure my experience would have been richer and I would have understood all the nuances of the relationships better had I read the first book, but I still enjoyed it very much. I have already downloaded the first book in the series, though, because I want to read them both (heads up– the first book is free on Amazon).

I absolutely loved this book. It’s quirky humor reminded me of one of my favorite books, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe. Edger Lives shares a lot in common — zany, fun characters, adventures in saving the universe, and a bit of a love interest. Parts of this book were so laugh out loud funny, I found myself interrupting my husband’s reading to share segments of the book.

Great job, Mr. Beem. I’m definitely hoping there will be more books featuring these characters. You have won a new fan!

  1. Thank you for your thoughtful review, and for featuring my book today. I’m so delighted to know you enjoyed Edger Lives! Also happy to hear you nabbed a free copy of Edger #1!

FYI for your readers: Sadly, the free sale on book 1 ended at midnight 3/28–HOWEVER–KU readers can still get it free. 😉

    Thanks again,

    David

    • Thanks for another great book David. Is #3 on it’s way?

      • Hi Kathy! YES, book 3 is on the way. My 3-year plan on this series was one book a year through book 3, so no later than April 2020. My 9-year-old and I also plan to release a middle grade comedy this year with a fun premise. He keeps asking daddy to write something funny he’s allowed to read! 🙂

        Have you started book 1?

        Take care, Kathy!

Are there any sublots that you wished you could have added or explored more in your book?

    • Hi, Bernie.

Thanks for your question! As it happens–YES. I would’ve liked to introduce the skydiving mind-control monkeys in Act 2 and given a bit more background for the assassin hiding in the bell choir.

  4. Sounds like a fun read.

  5. Thanks for sharing, sounds like my kind of book!

  6. Thanks for the giveaway; I like the excerpt. 🙂

How long did it take you to write your book?

    • Hi Bernie,

Thanks for your question. Edger Lives, took about seven months from the time I began until I handed in manuscript from editor. After that, it took another month of comma wrangling, mostly. So, 8 months tops.

      Take care!

  13. Thank you Heidi, Rose, and the staff at LAS Reviews for Edger Lives’ Book of the Month nomination, and the well-run event. Super fun and exciting, and want you to know how much it is appreciated.

    Thanks again!
