Lindy Hopkins works early, works late, always gets the job done and never, ever has incredible one night stands with handsome coworkers. Until that night. But it’s okay. She’s just going to keep on pretending that it never happened.

Alex Anderson never imagined that buttoned-down workaholic Lindy had the ability to transform into a table-dancing, champagne-guzzling femme fatale. Until that night. And it’s not okay that she’s been giving him the coldest of shoulders ever since.

Neither are prepared to face the other, but they have no choice. They’ve each booked the company Catskill cabin for a few days before Christmas and are both too stubborn to budge. Over mulled wine and under a blanket of snow, it’s starting to look like that night might happen all over again.

But this time Alex is playing for keeps, while Lindy is determined that no man will come before her career. Will they find that love is forever or will it be just another night to remember?

Lindy has borrowed her friend’s cabin for a few days of well-earned vacation, determined to do nothing but rest, relax and read. After unpacking and pouring herself an enormous glass of wine, she settles onto the couch with a forbidden delight – a cheesy romance novel. She’d barely begun to unwind when the cabin door bursts open and the unwelcome sight–Alex–enters. Some sort of mix up had her friend double booking the cabin – allowing him a few days vacation simultaneously with her own long-awaited rest. Unable to believe her terrible luck, Lindy tries to continue her break and ignore the sexy intruder. Sensual, frustrating images of “that night” they’d shared many months ago continue to bombard her, and Lindy knows her ignoring Alex will only work for so long before sparks fly.

I really enjoyed this book. Alex is a hoot! Smart, sexual and super-charged, he’s a wonderful hero. I particularly liked how patient he is with Lindy – who is having a hard time accepting she’d acted so outrageously on “that night” – even when she made me grit my teeth with her continual denial over their brief fling. Alex made me laugh and sigh – everything a hero should be. Lindy is more of a mixed bag. I related very well with her need for a break, her love of wine and eclectic assortment of reading material (everything from an Elanor Roosevelt autobiography to a Management textbook to spicy Greek romance novel) and while I connected with her I also never really fully understand her adamant denial of her fling with Alex. Despite a few small things like this, overall I really enjoyed the novel. Alex and Lindy have a bunch of things in common (lurid reading material included) and when they’re not trying to discuss or argue about “that night” they seem to have a lot of chemistry and work well together.

This is a slower-moving romance story but still quite steamy and sensual. There is plenty of sexual tension between Alex and Lindy. I really appreciated Alex’s patience with Lindy, especially when it came to helping her open up emotionally. There was no macho, alpha insistence or bullying – he was patient and kind, a real gentleman. In no way though was he weak – he knows exactly what he wants, but is prepared to play by the rules to get it. This is a spicy, wonderful romance story that I think will appeal to a broad range of readers. I found that the plot is interesting, the romance scenes spicy and enticing but not overly graphic or offensive. An enjoyable read I’d recommend.

Disgraced in her father’s eyes, Isobel Maitland travels to Scotland, determined to purchase her sister’s happiness at the cost of her own. But when her coach is held up and she is abducted by a dangerous highwayman, she faces an unexpected choice: suffer the loveless union to which she has resigned herself, or marry this ruthless, Scottish outlaw who can ignite her desire with a single touch.

They call him “Diabhal Dubh” – Devil Black – and he spends his days terrorizing the countryside, trying to outdistance the memories that torture him. The King has decreed he must settle and take a wife. And when he steals the alluring woman betrothed to his enemy, Dougal MacRae sees a way to both answer the King’s demand and obtain the revenge he has sought so long…

I’m a sucker for historical romances. The hero was exactly as he should be and what a great Warrior! I wouldn’t mind being his “property”. I also really enjoyed how he dealt out punishment. The long hair and the kilts, oh my! It doesn’t hurt that on the cover he is not wearing a shirt…very eye catching.

This story is about Isobel. She is a disgrace (in her father’s eyes) and decides to flee to Scotland. What she doesn’t expect is to be abducted by a dangerous and ruthless robber or highwayman. Now she’s fearful of her own life, and the life of her sisters.

Thanks to the “Diabhal Dubh” or Devil Black, she can marry loveless, or she can marry the infamous brute that terrorizes the countryside. At least with the Scottish brute her desires are awakened. What should she do? I liked that the author gave her a choice of worse and worst. I might have left with the highwayman as well. At least there was a chance that he might get killed faster. However she would be right back where she started.

Little does Isobel realize that she is still just a pawn in the hands of a different man. Devil Black (Dougal) sees Isobel as a way to get even with his enemy. Revenge can make people act crazy. I liked that the author gave Dougal a reason for his madness. He was not just killing people. His character definitely had conflicting feelings. The way he killed was brutal.

As the book went on and Isobel lived her life with her chosen husband I only liked the book more and more. The ending proved to me that love can grow. Every one got what they deserved and justice was dealt fairly, in my opinion. I was surprised that Dougal was called Devil Black. I always thought that the Scottish were fighters. I also thought that the stronger they were the better so it seems that being thought of as a devil would be a compliment. I guess that is why Dougal is different than the rest.

He’s so brutal. He’s the opposite of Isobel. I have a feeling that Dougal does not know what it feels like to be disgraceful. Isobel’s character was a little meek for me in the beginning. If she was trying to help her sister, then her father should have understood. Once they are together Isobel starts to change, and as her heart grows, so does her confidence. I think that Dougal needs a strong woman to be by his side, he definitely needed her at the end of the book. The ending proved to me that love can grow.

This was a good read and I’d recommend it to my friends who enjoy historicals chalk full of adventure, intrigue and set in the Scottish Highlands. I’ll be keeping an eye out to see more from this author as well!

In the space of a few minutes she finds herself handcuffed and totally at Mike’s mercy. Cuffed and laid bare, Eve’s desires are revealed and Mike is more than up for the challenge.

This is a short but scorching hot story. Eve is a little sassy – which I really enjoyed – and Mike is a tall, hot hero, strong and sure in all things. I enjoyed the author’s style and voice, I connected immediately to both Eve and Mike and their sensual encounter. I did, however, find that there were a lot of horse similies that jarred me with how frequently they were peppered through such a short story – things like “a racehorse coming out of the gate”, “wild horses couldn’t…” and “a mare with a lusty stallion”. While the earlier analogy of a big jungle cat gave me a good mental picture of Mike, having so many in a quick story started to niggle me as a reader. Having said that – the sex is scorching, the fantasy a sensual one and the interactions of Mike and Eve is super hot.

Overall I really enjoyed this story and would certainly read more by Ms. Snark. I felt the heat not only from Eve and Mike’s interactions, but also had the clear sense of a steamy Georgia evening, out on a back country road and the luscious interlude that could follow from a bit of speeding. A fun, sizzling read – definitely keep some cool water handy!

But when Irene crashes her car in Sam’s front yard and gets a nasty bump to the head, she’s forced to spend the night at Aggie and Sam’s. The truth of her relationship falling apart comes out, and so much more.

This is a delightfully complex book. Irene and Aggie are in their sixties – but that certainly doesn’t slow them down. Irene is an ex-cop now turned PI and the deeper into the plot I read the more she surprised me. I thoroughly enjoyed learning all the twists and turns the author embellished into the story. While I never did realize quite why Irene was so reticent in discussing recent happenings in her life with Aggie—and found it mildly frustrating that Aggie had to all but pull answers from Irene—the reward of the intricacies of the plot were well worth it. About half way through the book the pace really picks up and I thought the author came into her own. The characters were well-rounded, the plot outrageously fun and the pace of the action started racing ahead.

A fun, highly different read, this is a wonderful book filled with surprises. I found it to be well paced from the middle onwards and greatly enjoyed it. The romance is sensual – hot, but not explicit enough you can’t share it with a friend or family member – and the plot is solid, deeply formed and certainly enough to sink your teeth into. While the start is a bit spotty in places I found this to be a great read and wonderful book.

But soon, through her young son’s eyes, Katy discovers the good in Joe. As their feelings for one another deepen, small town gossip and prejudice threaten to ruin everything. Will Joe’s past come between them, or will they be able to get beyond it and hold onto a love neither expected?

Bad boys are popular, from rogues and rakes in historical romances, to tattooed musicians in contemporary romance novels. I have nothing against them, but too many is never good. There is another problem with bad boys especially in real life – most of them stay bad. But in novels it is very common to see them reformed under the magic spell of true love. Therefore, from time to time I discover a different approach to the transformation from bad boy to good and it’s more than welcome. This is exactly the main reason why I liked Debra St. John’s An Unexpected Blessing.

An Unexpected Blessing features Joe Mason who spent some time in prison and his past is not a rosy one. He is well aware of his transgressions, and now that he has served his time he wants to just lead a normal life. Joe Mason is a bad boy, but at the very beginning of the story he is also reformed one, but not by the love of the heroine – Katy Roth – or through his love for her, but because he learned his lesson in prison. What actually stands between him and his path to a happy life is the small-minded community into which he returned. Fortunately, with Katy’s help and love he realized that if love is a true one than it will conquer all; prejudices, gossips and fears.

As I already mentioned, I liked this story because there was a shift from the usual bad boy transformation. I also liked it because the author wrote a small town mentality so realistically and palpable, it felt genuine. Katy’s character is also great. I loved how she stood up for Joe, but also how she fought for their relationship and his stubbornness.

Usually stories that features a small town, a single mother and some kind of holiday tend to be too sweet and full of unnecessary drama and emotions. But not An Unexpected Blessing. This story is a pearl, a great shiny pearl. It is really worth reading. And, it comes with bonus features: lovely recipes for your Thanksgiving dinner.

I really enjoyed when Cam and Eli first meet Sophie in the store. It made me laugh and was a fantastically set scene, showcasing perfectly how the author has managed to blend humour, passion, real-life absurdities and mingled them all into a historical setting. The instant chemistry between Cam and Sophie was lovely – and racy for a Western novel – but it still managed to click together perfectly for me. Despite the amazing attraction and the clarity of how a marriage of convenience would work for both Sophie and Cam I felt that part of the story was a little rushed. The explanation Cam gives Sophie as to why it’s so fast is logical, but as a reader I still would have preferred even just a few scenes with them getting to know each other before getting married. I’d have enjoyed a bit more time between them in this initial stage – maybe even something funny like their first meeting – and think it could have gotten rid of the rushed feel.

The author does an amazing job of filling the story with all the romance, loneliness and history of the Old West. There were a number of plots interwoven and the storyline felt full, gratifying and dense enough I became really engaged in the book as a whole. I read this slowly, relishing each page and thoroughly enjoying the characters and world the author has created. Many of the images painted were wonderful and took my breath away. I really felt that taste of dust on my tongue, and felt the hardships faced by the characters. With complex, three dimensional characters, a solid plot and vibrant setting this is a lovely book and one I’d strongly recommend.

Logan McCutcheon returns to colonial Virginia after seven years in the hands of Shawnee Indians. But was he really a captive, as everybody thinks? He looks and fights like a warrior, and seems eager to return to those he calls friends and family.

Kira McClure has waited for Logan all those years, passing herself off as odd to keep suitors at bay–and anyone else from getting too close. Now that he’s back, he seems to be the only person capable of protecting her from the advances of Josiah Campbell and accusations of witchcraft. And to defend the settlers against a well-organized band of murderous thieves.

Ms. Trissel has done it again!

I could see, hear, and smell everything she did. Completely immersed in the story, I eagerly dove into the pages that followed.

Kira is certainly a spirited young woman. She wants to live her life on her own term, but that proves to be much more difficult than she ever imagined. Logan is the only man Kira has ever loved and she is determined not to marry anyone else. Kira goes to extreme measures to ensure that no one else wants to marry her. While her odd way of behaving has successfully kept unwanted suitors away, it has also ensured that people have a hard time believing her when she is actually telling the truth.

Kira’s brash behavior frequently gets her into some interesting situations. I couldn’t help but laugh the first time that Logan and Kira meet. Kira is alone in the woods when she sees someone coming toward her. Before Kira realizes who Logan is, she makes an ill fated attempt to hide that had me smiling and shaking my head.

Logan is the perfect man for Kira, but he is also deeply conflicted. Logan claims that he belongs with the Shawnee, but it is very clear that he still harbors strong feelings for his old home and community. I have a feeling that Logan and Kira are going to face a very tough decision concerning where they are going to make their home. Logan has found a new family among the Shawnee, but Kira desperately wants him to reclaim his family’s old homestead. Will they ever find a place where they both truly belong?

I have been a fan of Ms. Trissel’s work for years. Kira, Daughter of the Moon completely lived up to every one of my expectations. I highly recommend this wonderfully written tale to anyone who loves historical romance.

I enjoy reading about magic and fairies. For me, it’s fantasy at its best. This author does a good job of entwining fantasy, real life, grief and love all together in a tale that makes you feel good. I like happy endings. How Ms. Hahn achieves that for her characters is what the makes the story work.

Dulcie works as a journalist and is assigned to write a story about the carousel. She’s not enthused, but part of that is because her brother died and his widow lives in that town. She hasn’t really accepted his loss in her life. Her sister-in-law is remarrying and Dulcie is having a hard time picturing Jack as the new man in the family. By going to write a story on the carousel it will give her a chance to get to know him better. The interview raises more questions about Mr. Carousel than it answers.

Ms. Hahn shows the depth of the family’s sorrow over the death of Dulcie’s brother and then creates a magical journey to happiness. The fairy is in love with Dulcie and needs to make her love him to stay in this world. With a short period of time, that is quite a challenge. Even Jack isn’t what you’d expect. These little surprises keep your attention and make you uncertain just how the story will end.

This is a novella so the author didn’t have a lot of space to work her storyline out. She did a good job and left me smiling at the end. If you enjoy fantasy novels, you’ll enjoy this one. You’ll also enjoy if you like a good romance. Why not give a try and see what you think?

Brimming with laughter, Christmas spirit and a healthy dose of spicy romance, this book is fantastic fun. Both Molly and Aiden are quite attracted to each other, but equally frustrated and irritated. I loved how Aiden and Molly are both strong minded, independent people who don’t like giving an inch. As they each try to one-up the other by “fixing” each other’s life, the chemistry between them smolders and grows, guaranteed to explode with sexy consequences. I really enjoyed how this wasn’t a “regular” romance story. While yes, they do help each other neither is initially very accepting of the other’s help. They’re not pig headed about it, but each so strongly resists the sense of being “helped” or fixed the situations they both create made me laugh and really enjoy this different way they came together and realized their true feelings for one another.

With a bunch of interesting secondary characters, and strong ties between everyone, this light hearted romance really had me giggling and sighing happily. Perfect for a chilly evening or curling up and relaxing over the weekend, I’d think this would appeal to a broad range of readers.
