When the Civil War tears her family apart, Tassie Folden must journey from her Tennessee home to a new life with her aunt in Cincinnati. But Major Micah Corchoran is the most secretive man she’s ever met. What is he hiding? And how can they have a future together if he won’t trust her?

Micah Corchoran uses his position in the Union Army to aid in a dangerous and secretive cause. Returning home from the war, he again encounters the lovely Southern belle he aided on the road. He’s already fallen for Tassie, but loving her could put his family at risk. Can he trust her with his secret?

During the Civil War, Tassandra Folden lost most of her family. When she finds herself alone in Piney Gap, Tennessee she decides to pack her few belongings to leave the memories of the war and its destruction behind her to travel north to make a new start with her Aunt Margot. Along her journey she becomes ill. Nursing and caring for her is a loving family that welcomes her. Will Tassandra make her new home with the Corchoran family or will hope that her brother survived the war lead her to Cincinnati?

Somewhere Down the Road is a warm story that centers around compassion and family. Though Tassie is a stranger she is welcomed and loved within the Corchoran household. She is included in the daily chores and quilt making. This is a heartwarming book with a family that shows such compassion that they would reach out to help a stranger. The story grabbed at my heart and I had hopes that everything would work out. It wouldn’t be a story if it didn’t have a bad weed trying to spoil the beauty of family life trying to blossom. Caroline Clark knows that Micah Corchoran will marry her when he returns from the war, but will Tassie’s appearance alter Caroline’s dream of matrimony?

Much details or depth wasn’t given about each character but they are likable. I found myself wanting good for them. During the war they each lost so much, they didn’t dwell on it but found the strength to help others. I thought this was very encouraging. I enjoy historical romance and family settings and this was a book that brought both. The author did a good job in relaying the storyline as well as including historical facts.

I was a little confused about the brother Matthew’s roll in the book. I couldn’t follow or understand what happened on the battlefield that led to such secrecy. Also the physical attraction was evident between Tassie and Micah but I didn’t feel the coziness of their attraction building into love.

This is a nice story with a little mystery that kept my interest. A balance of good and bad characters makes for an interesting story. This would be a book that I would recommend to those that enjoy a casual read that doesn’t include a lot of action but still a story that leaves an impact.

Growing up in the fast lane…

With ailments like hypertension, baldness and a myriad of sex related problems being http://djpaulkom.tv/sim-djs-dj-paul-x-carnage-bang-she-killin/ cialis viagra generico rampant for men, online pharmacy and men’s health have become truly inseparable. In few cases penile fracture might occur. sildenafil online uk This was one of the powerful medicines that really worked on all those men generic viagra who used it to enhance sexual arousal, build muscle and provide energy. Patients who ordering levitra from canada purchased generic drugs may get the same benefit do not really present a life-long cure to the problem. By the time she’s sixteen, Telluride Marshall is tired of running away from bad men with her sex kitten mother. On the road from Maine to Florida, Tellie tries to talk sense to Kittie about the stolen Porsche and the thousands of dollars taken from her abusive ex. Mother and daughter are destined to clash–and to share some wild ride adventure.

Telluride Marshall loves her mother, but that doesn’t make the teenager blind to her faults. The relationships her mother has with numerous men might always start good, but there’s always the same problem. Her mother has a habit of picking men who beat her. And all too soon Telluride would be woken in the middle of the night, given two or three minutes to dress and grab a few essentials, and then they’d both be moving on again. But this time Telluride – and her mother in particular – have bitten off more than they could chew. Cleaning out her latest boyfriends safe and stealing his 1964 collectable Porsche, this time they might run, but Telluride was fairly certain Kevin – or his goons – would follow. And he wouldn’t be happy.

I found this to be a very interesting book. Set back in 1989, Telluride is sixteen and looking forward to taking her SATs and finally having the freedom to start her own life. All that changes, however, when her mother – yet again – wakes Telluride up in the middle of the night and insists they both run away. What follows is a road trip unlike any other I’ve read before. While I felt some sympathy for Telluride’s mother, Telluride’s antagonism towards her, and her many, varied and strongly unflattering thoughts made this story a far cry from the usual “girls road trip” sort of story.

I was also very surprised by the fact that I, personally, found there to be zero romance at all in the story. Yes, there were some off-screen sexual shenanigans from Telluride’s mother and a few different men. And there was plenty of sex discussed – in the general form of Telluride recalling/recounting her mother’s various past boyfriends – but there was no hero in this story. No slow building (or fierce and fiery) love match, no romantic happily ever after and indeed no real “romance” at all. It’s important to note this did not change my enjoyment of the story. But I did find it a bit odd that a book marketed to me as a romance had no actual romance in it.

My main criticism actually came from some of Telluride’s character herself. Despite the fact that for all except the last few pages Telluride is a teenager, I feel it important readers are not fooled by her age. This is in no way a YA novel to my mind. Telluride is far older than her short years, and more mature than many adults, her mother included. I found it a little startling just how honest, and jaded in some respects that she came across. While many girls her age are dreaming of college, gossiping about boys and studying for exams, Telluride wishes for some stability. Much of her cynicism comes out when she talks of how promiscuous her mother is, easily mentioning things like how she’d open her lips and “swallow down” all her boyfriends’ lies, or how easily she’d rush back to an abusive ex “with open legs” and many similar comments. While I didn’t find Telluride’s comments mean or angry, they certainly spoke to a teenager far older than her years and certainly a little cynical when it comes to sex. I’ve never read anything with a similar heroine and while fresh and different, it wasn’t precisely comfortable as a romantic read either.

Overall I found this to be a very interesting “coming of age” style story, and also a good “road trip” style of story. While both flawed to my mind, Telluride and her mother are interesting, engaging characters and they clearly carry the story. Die-hard romance fans might want to give this one a miss, but readers interested in a different style of story might find this to be a hidden gem.

Garrett “Trip” Trippington is the easiest going, most laid back, steady member of Team Arapahoe. Nothing ruffles his feathers or causes him to falter; not even being shot while on a mission. All that changes the moment he first sees Karen, a curvy vision of feminine perfection with a razor-sharp tongue. He’s tripped up, falling hard, and experiencing feelings that make his head spin. For the first time, his duties as a SEAL seem an easier mission.

Karen James is bridesmaid to her friend, Syndra, and has been given the task of “babysitting” Garrett “Trip” Trippington, the SEAL team’s demolitions guy. Trip is staying at Syn’s apartment, literally across the shared hallway from Karen. Half the team appears determined to set Karen up with their single friend. The wedding couldn’t be over fast enough for Karen’s peace of mind. Setting up the scene for a photo shoot, Karen finds herself carried away a bit with the preparations, and ends up meeting Trip for the first time in a somewhat compromised position. Trip had been reluctant – to say the least – about being set up. The last single man standing, he’s not planning to join his buddies tying the matrimonial knot. But Karen gets his blood pumping, and soon Trip realizes he’s falling faster than he’d ever imagined possible.

If you’re looking for a smoking hot read, full of a confidant, brash SEAL and a full figured heroine with a strong backbone, this is a good place to start. I found the sex sizzling hot and definitely something to be lingered over. This is a smoking read that you’ll want to keep for yourself and only share with a select few friends.

I was a little disappointed that in the beginning Karen was so brave in her thoughts and fantasies, but still seemed outwardly quite emotionally tender and under-confident in herself. She had some wicked and lush desires but fully expected to be turned down. In some respects I can feel sympathy for Karen, as a larger woman being rejected is difficult to keep up a strong front, but that doesn’t have to mean expecting a negative response every time, particularly when Trip’s actions were all about his desire for her. I guess I’d hoped Karen could look past her own insecurities and judge Trip by his words and deeds, not her past issues. Having said that Karen is not some wimpy little miss who shakes at every turn. Even at their first meeting she verbally gives back to Trip as much as he gives her, and in all other respects she’s a strong, independent woman. While I understand her self-image problems, it would have been refreshing to read about a curvy woman who owns her sexuality from the beginning and is brave enough to not let past history colour her seeking out a new bed partner. Karen’s confidence issues didn’t detract too much from my enjoyment of the reading, but it did frequently make me pause and wonder. That stopped me from totally devouring the book without hesitation.

I felt this co-authored book was written very smoothly. I couldn’t really tell where one author wrote and the other took over – and to my mind that’s the best kind of dual writing. I really enjoyed reading things from Trip’s point of view, not just Karen’s. It rlet me see into his mind and I love that in a book. I found the sex mind-blowingly good, but not offensive. It is graphic though, and prolific – so that might need to be taken into consideration by other readers. I would have enjoyed a bit more plot outside of Karen and Trip getting together, but having said that I did get invested in both characters very quickly. The two of them are complex enough that despite the lack of external plot I still enjoyed turning each page and wanted to see them come together and build their relationship.

A character driven book, full of smoking hot sex and a strong emotional relationship, I think this will appeal to many readers. This book has also continued my love of a good SEAL romance novel.

When men fight over the feisty new arrival in town, the battle for her hand begins…

Annalee Gallagher loses her parents, home, and business in the Great Fire of Chicago. When she travels to Cicero Creek in the Wyoming Territory to start a new life, more heartache awaits her, and so do the attentions of several men–for good and for evil. Why was her stagecoach attacked, and was the shot that zinged over her head one night a wild bullet or a bad aim?

Boone Hartwell, the marshal of Cicero Creek, suspects someone is out to kill the new spitfire in town. She amuses him and touches a lonely part of his soul, but keeping her safe is a fulltime occupation. More importantly, can a white man raised as Cheyenne rise above her other suitors to win her heart? One thing is for certain in his determined mind: He’s the man for Annalee.

Annalee is going to Cicero Creek to meet her grandfather and live with him. She certainly didn’t expect the stagecoach to be attacked!

I enjoy a western once in a while and this sweet romance novelette was just the ticket for my “taste” of the old west. Ms. Davis writes with historical facts with good humor and makes her characters endearing.

Annalee’s hat gets shot off her head, but she’s still mad at the man who shoved her on the floor and is lying on her shooting back at the robbers. He’s hurting her burns and he’s rude anyway. The fact that he’s the local sheriff does not impress her much. When she sputters about the finishing school she attended, he just informs her she must have failed the deportment course. This makes her even madder!

Annalee’s parents had died in the Chicago fire and her home and work place both burned up. Her grandfather was her only living relative. When the doctor examined her after the stagecoach ride, he sadly informs her that her grandfather was shot in the back and had died two weeks ago. What was she to do now?

Little does she know that arriving in town has set all the bachelors on notice like bird dogs. Boone is already trying to stake his claim on her, but she didn’t come here to get married. She came to run a fabric store and do some sewing for the town folk. She’d live in her Grandfather’s home until they found a will and determined ownership. Then someone shot at her!

My favorite part is when she meets Boone’s Native American brother. He’s all Indian and she’s speechless when she sees him. So he tells her that her hair is safe, he’s already scalped five people this morning. She faints again…

The conversations are fun, the killer isn’t identified until the end of the story, and romance grows along the edges of the tale. It’s a fun read and a smooth journey for Annalee now that she’s come home to Cicero Creek. Ms. Davis does a very nice job with this story.

Dr. Dora Adler’s life has been in disarray since the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, but when she gets bitten by one of the undead, her whole world is turned upside down. Held captive in a secret underground lab, the tall, muscular hunk in the next cell is her only hope for salvation. Unfortunately, he claims to be a werewolf. Yeah, and she’s supposedly a witch.

Dirk Gunderson is an alpha Arbor pack werewolf. Captured and collared, he’s sold to the zombie lab in hopes his blood serum can create a vaccine. He needs to escape, but not without the hot little brunette witch.

In the midst of enemy werewolves and the hordes of undead, Dirk and Dora’s sexual tension ignites a blaze hotter than the desert highway. Along their journey, they battle the inevitable: a werewolf must never take a witch as a mate.

A blow to the head is what it takes…

That could be the beginning of many scenarios. Unfortunately, for Dr. Dora Adler, it pertains to zombies. Human wars of the past paled in comparison to the devastation caused by the Z-phage infection as it swept across the globe. When combined with natural disasters, crashing stock markets, and numerous other catastrophes, it promotes the perfect scenario for total annihilation of the human race. Being a medical provider, Dora is stuck right in the middle of things. Every patient that comes through the door is potentially infected and poses a risk to the few humans left. Not only does she have to treat these patients, but she also has to single out the ones already compromised and then watch as they are carted off to quarantine. Thankfully, those she holds dearest remain safe, but for how long?

If the possibility of becoming a zombie weren’t bad enough, she has a family curse hanging over her head. One way or another, her number is up; number 27, that is. Every female in her family for several generations had died at the age of 27. Dora has no idea why; so it made it somewhat difficult to prepare or protect herself from her impending fate. As luck would have it, her 27th birthday comes with a new twist. Not only is she bitten and rushed off to a facility to await turning into a zombie and death by a bullet to the head, she discovers that she’s immune to Z-phage.

Now that might sound like a good thing—if one doesn’t relish the idea of becoming a cannibal and eating loved ones and close friends—just imagine becoming a science experiment in a world desperate to find a cure to a virus that depletes human numbers by staggering amounts every day. Soon, there won’t be anyone left. Just because Dora is immune to zombie bites, doesn’t mean being ripped to shreds in a feeding frenzy doesn’t pose a threat. She’s immune, not magic, right? Dora, honey, you better get ready for a little more weird in your life. Seems you’re not completely human, after all, and zombies aren’t the only monsters to go bump in the night.

Dirk is your typical badass, playboy, alpha-male werewolf. He likes fast bikes, fast women, and uncluttered relationships, except when it comes to his killer pooch, Fang, a teacup Chihuahua who’s managed to turn this big bad wolf into a dotting “mommy”. While Dirk certainly feels the responsibility of his alpha status and knows he needs to choose a mate soon, he’s got bigger and better things to attend to, like tracking down the hunter who almost took his sister’s life.

Catching Z-phage wasn’t a concern for him; he’s immune to the virus. In fact, zombies didn’t even seem to notice his presence. Apparently, werewolves and other shifters didn’t smell like food. Unfortunately, the invulnerability didn’t extend all of his wolf family. Lower wolves—betas and omegas—were unable to shift except during a full moon, leaving them susceptible to zombie attacks. The sheer number of zombies looking for human meat had already decimated many wolf packs. If something wasn’t done to stop Z-phage, there wouldn’t be a world left for any of them, human or shifter.

I’ve got to say I’m not a fan of zombies. I don’t know why, but they creep me out. I can’t even watch zombie movies without getting the heebie-jeebies. Why I grabbed this story is beyond me, but I’m glad I did. I expect my attraction to werewolves and other paranormal beasties overrode my anxiety about flesh-eating ghoulies. Ms. Gordon certainly had my unease in high gear when it came to her thorough description of a world riddled with this highly contagious virus that turns just about everyone into mindless cannibals, but her twist on things really sparked my attention and kept me turning the pages—despite being scared of the dark for a few days.

The relationship between Dirk and Dora steadily grows as they develop companionship, trust, and inevitably love with one another. Despite the chaos around them and the rules governing both their kind regarding mingling of the species, they can’t stop destiny. Fight it as they may, when they finally come together, it’s explosive and a major turning point, even if they aren’t quite ready to admit it to themselves. Some of the dialog seemed a bit cheesy at times, but I envisioned a world where anything to laugh about was likely cherished and exploited to the fullest.

This book certainly has a lot of plot twists and excitement to keep you entertained. I like how the author adds a new take on things with shifters and magic. I mean, how many ways can you write about zombies without everything sounding the same? Ms. Gordon certainly presents a stimulating change from a perspective I hadn’t considered before. There were some similarities to several different movie plots that seemed a bit “borrowed”, but the author still manages to give it her own voice, making the overall book an enjoyable—if not anxiety provoking—read. There were a few remaining loose ends so I’m hoping there will be more tales to come.

Zombies, werewolves, and witches oh my. This certainly ain’t Kansas and I think Dora’s going to need more than a pair of ruby slippers to save the day. With her alpha-mate at her side and newfound skills in “witchmacallit”, she just might be able to turn the tide and save the human race, one person at a time. If animated corpses who love to gorge on human flesh sparks your fancy, and sexy, Harley-riding wolf shifters give you thrills, then you’ll probably enjoy Ms. Eva Gordon’s Apocalyptic Moon. It’s a hair-raising, moon-howling adventure that kept me eagerly turning the pages to see what happened next—as well as checking my closet for any hidden ghoulies wishing to make a meal out of me. I’ll be sleeping with a bat next to my bed for many nights to come. Thank you, Ms. Gordon, for penning a story that will likely stay with me for a while to come.

Hope Morningstar couldn’t believe it when she was dumped via text message. Incredibly hurt and questioning herself, Hope couldn’t help but wonder why every man – starting from her father and moving on to her latest ex-boyfriend – seemed to walk out on her. After a brilliant man-bashing verbal session with her sister and a bunch of sympathetic ears and a new haircut, Hope’s spirits have lifted somewhat. Getting lost and starving for some food, Hope ends up at a small café and meets the slightly eccentric owner, Freya. After some delicious hot chocolate and a heart-to-heart, Freya changes Hope’s life forever by introducing her to Declan.

Declan has spent the last two years getting over his ex-wife’s terrible betrayal and the death of their infant son. Although it’s been a year since he’d unburdened his soul to Freya, he’s pleased albeit apprehensive to get her phone call. Sparks fly when Declan and Hope meet up, and they’re both determined to give the chemistry bubbling between them a chance.

At first I found it hard to understand Declan and Hope’s attraction. Hope is quite bossy, feeling the need to be in control to try and protect her heart from more hurt. Declan is also quite stubborn and strong-minded, not one to back down or follow direction well. Although they don’t argue, there is definitely friction in their initial meeting. Considering their character differences I felt their getting together and spending the rest of the day together was a little rushed. It didn’t gel with my impression that although different they could come together slowly, understand each other and discover the good along with the friction. This aspect was glossed over and I felt it lent a rushed pacing to the progression of the story. It’s possible, however, this was done because of the shortness of the story and the word limit. I’d have definitely liked the build-up to their meeting rushed and more exploration of their sorting out their differences, as it would have made the story deeper and more realistic to me.

This is a heartwarming story about two people who’ve been hurt in the past and the rocky but ultimately wonderful road they tred to happiness and love. I enjoyed how honest Hope and Declan were, and how they were still flawed characters, not perfect and difficult to relate to. I particularly loved how Declan staunchly believes in love at first sight, and how he and Hope bring out the best in each other. After an initial bit of friction they complement each other wonderfully and this is a wonderful, sweet romance for women of all ages.

Can Rae stay long enough to give him a chance? And will Daegen be able to convince her that he isn’t going anywhere?

This story is based on a great premise. Rae finds her father dying and rushes to his rescue. We find out many things about Rae, but we do not really get a full view of her past. That past involves a self-made billionaire Daegen Tan. He controls the clinical study that can save her father’s life. The rest you might well guess.

Rae’s father’s story is heart wrenching. The author spends time showing us how guilty he feels about his life and his inability to take care of Rae. Now that he is so sick, he is guilt ridden that he is a burden to Rae when she should be living her life.

Daegen appears to be a strong Alpha Male type who is made out to be ruthless. I felt like he still loved Rae and his ruthlessness comes from the fact that she hurt him deeply when she left. I like how the author brings out his disillusionment with Rae as an issue he has to deal with. His emotions are clearly raw and throughout the course of the story I understood the fact that she left him to pursue her career and climb the corporate ladder. To Daegen this was tantamount to a slap in the face. This vulnerability is his most redeeming factor as far as I’m concerned. He’s either angry or losing his temper but somehow does not come through as overly ruthless even if that’s the way his character is presented.

Although the story has interesting scenes and a strong premise, I would really like to have learned a little more about Rae’s character. I did get a lot of facts about the turmoil going on in both Rae’s and Daegen’s lives. Their relationship is strained to say the least. They have a history and the feelings are still raw.

Overall, this is an interesting story. Readers who enjoy an emotionally charged romance with lots of plot twists will likely enjoy this novel.

Nate Thomas is sick to death of constant business trips and crowded airports. Then, before a customary Monday morning flight, Nate is forced to alter his carefully-arranged routine. His unplanned encounter with Annabelle, a confident and quirky kiosk clerk, permanently alters his worldview. Instantly, every trip is an occasion to anticipate, just to see Annabelle’s smile as she hands him change and intrigues him with her peculiar philosophy on customer habits.

Over coffee and bagel breakfasts, clandestine observations of eccentric passengers, and occasional electric brushes of fingers, Nate realizes that his growing attraction to Annabelle is quickly turning into something weightier than he ever expected.

But after so many pre-flight hours in Annabelle’s company, Nate arrives at the airport only to learn that Annabelle has quit her job as a clerk without warning. Can he muster the confidence to track Annabelle down outside of the airport bubble, or has he permanently lost his reason to fly?

Ms. Quinn describes herself as a writer of ‘quirky’ romance, and while I wouldn’t describe this as a comedy, A Reason to Fly is certainly quirky. It is also a story with a message. “…Wrappers are meaningless. It’s about what lies inside, the same as people.” But will the hero ‘get it?’

A Reason to Fly is a charming, feel-good short story with each scene clearly delineated by a new chapter. It is an easy, smooth read and ideal for anyone who enjoys reading while waiting in a queue, riding a bus, or just because they want to enjoy a light-hearted, happy-ever-after novella.

Clever use of the setting – an airport – creates much of the pace and vibrancy. The sense of movement around the hero and heroine emphasizes the oasis of calm they create between them when they set up a little guessing game to play each week when the hero, Nate, has to take a plane to work.

Written in the first person, the hero’s hesitation is well put across. He’s a likeable character who is not quite certain whether to dare to dream or not. When challenged by the heroine to play a guessing game he takes a gamble and goes along with it because he wants to see her again. Ms. Quinn’s tight writing ensures we know he is well respected at work by his boss and work colleagues, and this other, uncertain side to his character is lovely to watch as it unfolds.

Annabelle loves everything about airports and took the first job available just to be at one all day, everyday. And the people! She just loves analysing the people based on their purchases. So when she challenges Nate to join in her game she is surprised and pleased when he agrees. Ms. Quinn’s heroine may be a whiz at philosophy but she has a lot to learn when going after her dreams.

While the many other people that pass through an airport were implied, the author remained focussed on Nate and Annabelle.

The writing is tight, vivid, and as Ms. Quinn promised, quirky. The hero and heroine came across as real in as much their flaws were out there for this reader to see and wonder whether both would overcome them.

A Reason to Fly is an ideal story to read if you enjoy ‘happy-ever-after’ endings.

Use your “suspension of disbelief” and you have a billionaire chasing a blue collar girl (bartender) and making this a lovely romance story.

As I read this book, I was caught up in the daydream of actually having a hunk such as Jake chasing our heroine (and wishing I was the she). Gentle, passionate, caring…sigh! Yes, Jake was perfect in so many ways, throw in Rosie (our heroine’s dog), and this story becomes what dreams are made of.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was like a soft balm for a rainy afternoon, where you would lie on your sofa and just daydream the afternoon away.

Captive Bride is a engaging little novella. Ms. Hampton did a beautiful describing the time period and drawing this reader into the setting. While I would have liked to have had a chance to actually see the budding romance there was enough detail sprinkled in to let me know imagine how it might have happened. I also felt that the story was a bit predictable as there were no surprises but I did enjoy the fact that the romance was detailed. It felt like a western as the tension between the “pioneer settlers” and “Native Americans” was present. There’s also a bit of mystery to be solved. Davy has a vested interest in finding out who killed his father and why. Besides the romance, I was interested to see Ms. Hampton would work out the questions Davy had and how he and Abigail would find their HEA.

This is the first story that I have read of Sandi Hampton’s and I can see that she has an abundance of promise in her future if she continues her romance writing! I am looking forward to reading another story from this writer soon.

This was a pleasant read and I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys a sweet romance with just enough heat to make it a little spicy. Readers who enjoy the idea of being stolen away should check this out. I was held captive by this tale of lovers reunited.
