LASR Anniversary Scavenger Hunt: A Sinful Tune by Wendi Zwaduk

Thanks for joining us on our anniversary scavenger hunt! It’s easy to play– first read the blurb below, then answer the question on the Rafflecopter. You might win a $100 Amazon/BN GC.

Two hot rockers and one girl…what could go wrong?

Robbie thought when he formed his band he’d get the girls, the gigs and the money. He’s got the gigs, but the money is a little slower in coming. He’s also got more than a few secrets. He wants the band to succeed, but even more, he wants to find the one woman who can accept him—warts and all, but also with his best friend Dillon involved.

Dillon loves Robbie like a brother. Robbie’s his other half in the music world. He handles the words while Robbie writes the music for the band. But all the music in the world isn’t enough if they don’t have their perfect third—Jess. She hits all the right notes for him and Robbie. The only issue? She may not accept their love in return.

Jess has followed the band for years and worked her way up to selling their merchandise. She knows their music almost as well as they do, but doubts they’d want to be with her. She’s so unlike the other women they’ve had—she’s short, curvy and a purple-haired Goth. When Robbie and Dillon hang out with her after one of the gigs, she has a choice to make. Either head home and wonder or let go of her fears and give the two men of her dreams the chance to make her fantasies come to life.

Gifting!
By Wendi Zwaduk
I’m a sucker for Christmas and the winter holidays. Why? I love to give gifts. If there are card exchanges, ornament exchanges, secret santas or book swaps, I’m there.

There’s something about seeing the glee on the recipient’s face when he or she opens the gift. It’s fun. Be it a book, piece of jewelry I’ve made, an ornament I’ve made or cards… I love to see the joy spread.

I also rather enjoy shopping, too. I won’t lie. It’s fun to go from store to store looking for just the right item. I tend to go to the smaller shops and local places for gifts, too. I don’t know. It’s neat finding that treasure for someone I love or someone I’ve known a long time.

When I’m shopping or creating, I try to go not by the person’s Christmas list (not for everything), but by what I think they’d like or they’ve mentioned liking in the past. For instance, I took part in an ornament exchange, but instead of buying a nice bauble, I picked out jewels and pearls to create one that was more befitting the person who would be receiving it. I went with the colors she liked and something elegant. I also created an ornament that’s inspired by the season with holly berries and a rustic quality.

She loved them.

But that’s kind of why I love them, too. They weren’t just something I bought. They were something I made and put thought into. I guess that’s what the spirit of the season is to me. It’s putting a little piece of me into whatever I’m giving away. Finding that one treasure that will light up the person’s day and gives them happiness.

What about you? What’s your ideal present this year? What did you ask Santa for? I’d love to know.

As for me, I haven’t asked for anything. It annoys the family, but I don’t know what I might like. I’d rather be surprised by their creativity. 

She’s always known who she wanted. Now she needs to find the strength to make him see they’re more than a mistake.

Molly Neff creates promotional art for companies with confidence and her work partner is sex on legs. Austin Dean is sexy, smart and everything she’s wanted in a man. They’ve slept together a couple of times, but things haven’t worked out between them. When another woman enters the picture, can Molly convince Austin they belong together or will the relationship end up scrapped for a better idea?

As much as he likes working with Molly, Austin wants more out of life than creating advertising campaigns for others. He wants to be the star. Molly has always been his good luck token—with her brains and charm, she helps him make his dream come true. But his starring role comes with complications. He’s always sort of known he loved Molly, but another woman wants his attention. Will he choose Molly and a simple life with her or the bright lights of fame?

Summer Fun in the Sunshine with Wendi Zwaduk

It’s summer again! Hot days, sometimes hotter nights and lots of fun. As I write this post, I’m looking at cloudy conditions, but it’s been steamy around here until now.

I’ve been thinking about things to do outside for the summer. Quite a few came to mind.

One of my favorites is watching racing. I can’t get enough of the cars or trucks slinging around the track. I prefer dirt racing over racing on asphalt tracks. Why? There’s something fun about watching the dirt fly, smelling the acrid scent of the fuel and rubber of the tires as well as watching the blur of cars or trucks as they go by.

Another favorite is the annual 4th of July fireworks display. I’m either lucky or cursed—depending on how you look at it—to live in the country. In addition to the local city and township sponsored fireworks displays, quite a few of our neighbors have their own festivities. Now, my black lab and beagle/basset cannot stand fireworks. Not a bit. So when I have displays in front of the house, behind the house and a few going off to the north of the house, it’s bedlam. I’d really like it if the fireworks didn’t freak them out, but I kind of like having so many displays seemingly done just for me. It’s fun. Chaotic, but fun.

I’m also a sucker for the annual football draft—although it’s back in April—and the subsequent early practices. I’m a football girl through and through. Maybe it’s the muscle-bound bodies covered in sweat or the violence of the sport, but I love my football. I’ll watch practices just because that means we’re one week closer to preseason, which means one week closer to the season opener! Did I mention I liked football? Grin.

I do love the boys of summer, aka the baseball teams, but mine isn’t doing so hot right now. No matter. Hot bodies in mostly tight uniforms…that’s a winning combination.

Summertime also means I’m out with the dogs walking, too. The tot practices for cross country and I take the dog for a couple mile jaunt to keep us in shape. It’s nice to be in nature and exercising. Plus, that quiet time means I’ve got a chance to think through my next story idea or wherever I’m stuck in the book I’m currently working on.

So now I pose the question to you. What’s your favorite summer activity? Does it have to be done in the daytime? Let me know. I might like to try it.

herman_800The love of her life isn’t the man she expects but he just might be the man she never saw coming.

Cass Jensen writes hot books and likes her life as an author. She’s got the material things she desires, good friends and a side career singing with the band. What more could she ask for? A sexy man to warm her bed during the chilly Ohio nights—that’s what she wants. Someone to make her blood sizzle and her heart race. She heads to California to help cast the movie being made from one of her books. She’s not interested in dating another actor, but what if the man she needs is on the other side of the audition table?

Logan Malone is known as one of the biggest playboys in all of Hollywood. He’s rumoured to be dating half the single ladies in town and romancing the other half. There’s only one problem—Logan doesn’t want to be the player any longer. He wants a strong career and an even stronger woman in his life. When he meets Cass, he knows she’s the one he’s been looking for. But Cass comes with her own complications. Can he handle being her man or will the glare of the media be too much for them to handle as a couple?

He’s about to find out just how hard he’ll have to work in order to be her man, but he’s up for the job…

Breathing Life Back Into a Story by Wendi Zwaduk – Guest Blog

Long and Short Reviews welcomes Wendi Zwaduk whose new print anthology, Second Chances, recently released.

Breathing Life Back into a Story

Something that scares an author is when their publisher collapses. It might not be a huge explosion or a minor implosion. It could be something as simple as the publisher decided to shut its doors. Simple and clean.

That’s what happened to me. I love all of my publishers. I do. Even the ones I’m no longer with. I love them. Why? Because they’re doing something I think is remarkable—publishing a book. That’s awesome. Now, I could do that myself. I could and I did with Second Chances, but they take the work out of it for me. Yes, I have to complete edits and approve of the covers and all that, but they do the formatting and distribution. Fantastic stuff.

So, one of those publishers of mine closed. Turquoise Morning Press. I learned so much there and love the friends I made along the way. I have no regrets except that they’re no longer in business.

But this is where the rub is. Those stories I had with TMP ended up without a home. What’s an author to do? I could shop them to another pub or dip my toes into self-publishing. I’ll be honest. Self-publishing, although it’s been done by a lot of people—kind of scares me. But…I tried it anyway. What’s the worst that could happen? Well, lots, but I won’t get into that.
So I tried. I put my chin out and gave self-publishing my best shot. Second Chances is what I have to offer. I breathed life into stories that might have otherwise have disappeared. How cool is that? It is to me. I loved these stories and didn’t want them to go away forever. Now, I control the destiny of them. That’s very cool.

Want to know more about my first foray into self-publishing? It’s only in print, but hey, there’s something awesome about holding a print book.

4_19 wendiAnything is possible when you only accept the best, even if it takes some second chances. Four stories of white hot romance from bestselling author, Wendi Zwaduk.

SIMPLY THE BEST
Can this seasoned officer accept what he never knew he wanted? She longs to wrap herself in his muscle-bound arms, but can a chance encounter really be simply the best?

SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL
He drives fast, lives on the edge and loved once, but things ended in disaster. Can he accept the woman who holds his heart, despite all of their gagged past? She never intended to leave him, but life got in the way. Is coming to terms with her past the key to winning the love of her life back?

BEST I EVER HAD
All he wanted was a pint of ice cream, not to be a witness to a double murder. Good thing she has not one, but two sexy men willing to keep her safe. Sam and Quint had it all until she came along. Can these three find love beyond the bedroom or will things go up in flames?

SWEET IN HIS ARMS
Gage Bell considered Ryan Dane the one that got away—except he never pursued Ryan in the first place. He’s done trying to ignore the way Ryan makes him feel, and an incident on the track has given him the right incentive to find the sweetness he’s always known was in Ryan’s arms. If Ryan will give him an inch and let him take the wheel, Gage is ready to run the right man over and over again.

Getting Sucked In with Wendi Zwaduk

Sounds like a crazy title for a winter blog post, doesn’t it? I agree, it’s odd. So what doesn’t it mean? Getting sucked in?

This time of year always gets me thinking of romance. Where’s one place you can always find romance? On the television! All those sappy movies playing on the different channels. Each one has a happy ending. There are a few miscommunications, some mishaps and merriment, but the characters usually get what they want in the end. Some of the movies could use better actors or better scripts, but hey, I want romance and happiness. I’m willing to overlook a wooden actor or choppy dialogue. I want to be put into the spirit of Christmas and these movies are the way to go—for me anyway.

So what does this have to do with getting sucked in? The Christmas movie marathon is well underway on two of the channels on my television. I flip through the guide trying to find something to watch. An action flick or maybe a crime show. But this time of year, I tend to stop more frequently on the Christmas movies. I also can’t watch just one. Yep, that’s how I get sucked in. I need to know that the happy ending the last movie will bleed over into the next movie. Before I know it, I’ve watched three!

Now that’s not to say I’m only sitting there watching the movies. Nope. I’m usually writing, reading or doing another chore. I tend not to sit while watching movies. I’m a mover. But that doesn’t stop me from watching. Nope. I love the happy feeling and the romance. I’ve got to watch them.

Call me kooky, but it’s a fun holiday tradition. I can’t say there is a particular favorite among the newer holiday movies, but I’m a sucker for Miracle on 34th Street (the black and white version). If it’s on, I’m probably watching.
What about you? What movie is your holiday addiction? Are there any you can’t stand? Let me know. Grin.

DancingTogether-BWhat happens in Vegas at Christmas stay in Vegas…

Jordy Murphy isn’t the warm, fuzzy family type. Instead of getting together with all the newly minted couples in his family, he is in the center of sin, decadence and sex for the holidays. He craves the lights, the Christmas glitter and dancing with sexy women when he spots the one woman he hoped to see, but never expected to be there—Ally.
Allyson Benson wants Jordy Murphy in her stocking for Christmas. No other present will do, so she’s pulling out all the stops to show him a sexy time. Will their relationship extinguish faster than Christmas candles or do they have the passion to last throughout the season?

Reader Advisory: This story has graphic sexual language and scenes—no closed bedroom doors (or other rooms) here!

Being twenty-one and never going beyond second base doesn’t exactly endear her to the guys, but the one guy she never expected to notice her has. Will she give him a shot or run the other way?

Evan Phillips has a way with the ladies. He can charm them just as easily as he hits homeruns, but this ballplayer has a problem. He won’t be able to pass art history without help. Enter Bliss. Spring Has Sprung? It Can and It Will!

I don’t know about where you are, but spring hasn’t quite made it to the great state of Ohio. We’ve had some warmer days, but there’s still snow on the ground. A lot of snow. But since snow is cold and I’d rather be warm, I thought I’d post a photo of one of my favorite flowers, the daisy. Daisies remind me of summer and hotter temps. They’re pretty and I just love them.

: {{Information |Description= |Source=self-made |Date=5/2007 |Author=User:Jina Lee }}

I also love a steamy story. That’s probably why I write them. I like to entertain myself and my readers. Grin.

Since it’s cold out here, I thought I’d work on one today. I can’t share my work in progress with you, but why not one of my latest releases?

Off Camera takes place on a college campus in late October, but for some reason college makes me think spring. Like it’s a new chance or an opportunity to start over. My writing has a lot of those elements, too. I’m a sucker for second chances. In Off Camera, Kade and Tony have a rocky start. Tony’s brash and Kade’s shy. In a way, they are the odd couple. But it’s how the mix things up when they finally decide what they want that’s key. Both are film students—Kade writes the scripts and Tony shoots the movies. Will these two get together and have a fun-filled spring after the rocky fall? You’ll have to read Off Camera to find out.

Wendi getthumbNavigating college is hard, but not as hard as learning to love and trust.

Kade Evans knew what he wanted to do with his life—write scripts for Hollywood. He’s poured his heart into his work and learning the tricks of the trade, but being only twenty-one he knows he needs experience. How’s a guy supposed to get experience when he’s shy and quiet? The answer might be closer and more forceful than he thinks.

Tony Victor’s goal in life is to make movies. He won’t quit until he’s working on the next blockbuster. First, he’s got to get through college and get the handsome guy from script writing class to notice him. Tony’s never had trouble getting attention, but something about Kade calls to him. Tony’s head says go slow, but his heart is ready to take things to the next level.

Will these two find common ground or will the simmering passion between them fall apart when their secrets are revealed?

About the Author:Like spicy romance? So do I! Come along on this journey with me.

Welcome to my corner of the universe. I’ve always wanted to write. I love storytelling and weaving images with words. There’s something magical about a happily-ever-after that draws me to a story. Summer Time Fun!
Summer is my time to get things done. Sounds sort of silly, eh? Yeah, well, it’s not. Usually, my days are packed with tot duties, making sure tot gets where he needs to go, being a wife and the day job. I don’t have much time to write during the lion’s share of the year.

That tends to change once the weather gets warmer and school lets out. I get time to myself. I rather enjoy having some time to do what I want to do. Most of that time is devoted to writing. I’ve always got a handful of stories that need finishing and this gives me the opportunity to work hardcore on them without interruption.

Plus I get to sit on the balcony and enjoy the weather. How cool is that?

This year, in addition to finishing those stories that have been calling to me, I’m going to watch a few of the movies I haven’t seen yet.

I have a running joke with my best friend. She’ll ask me if I’ve seen ______________ (fill in the blank with a current movie) and I’ll usually reply, no, I haven’t seen it. Her response? Why am I not surprised? I don’t mind being out of the loop, but sometimes it’s nice to be able to converse about the same things. So, I decided to level the playing field. I’ve got a thing for comic book movies. I do. The Avengers, Watchmen, X-Men…I’m there. I finally got caught up on the Avengers stories. Yes, I enjoyed Captain America Winter Soldier. Who didn’t? It was filmed in Cleveland, where I’m at. Not too shabby. I even watched all of the X-Men movies—even Futures Past. Yep. I’m caught up.

But that’s what I like about summer. I’ve gotten caught up on those stories and done something I wanted to do (well, really, quite a few things I wanted to do.)

What about you? What are some things you’ve been dying to do and haven’t gotten to yet? Let me know!

Drawn Together by Wendi Zwaduk

I’ve wanted to write for Ellora’s Cave since I began writing. It took some time for me to get there, but I’ve made it. I’m really excited. My cover for Drawn Together turned out better than I imagined and my editor, Whitney, has been great. What’s the book about? Teachers! I spent time teaching art and I used that experience to create Tessa, the heroine. She’s got flaws, but also a heart of gold. Graig is thought to be a typical jock, but he’s more than meets the eye. When these two get together, the sparks fly. Why don’t you check it out for yourself?

And now a Hot EXCERPT:

Artists do it dirty.

He loved the poster on her wall. Such an odd item for the bedroom wall of an adult woman, but then again, he liked it, so maybe he was just as odd. Didn’t really matter. Once the woman caught him watching her, well, the game would be over.

Graig settled back into the easy chair he’d moved into his bedroom. He checked his watch once more. Eleven o’clock. Just about time for her to come into her bedroom.

He shouldn’t watch her. Shouldn’t be turned on by the sway of her hips as she shimmied out of her jeans. But damn. She moved like she knew he was there.

The light flicked on, bathing the room across the courtyard in warmth. Thank God they both lived on the top floor with balconies blocking the view to the apartments below. Any lower and everyone else would be able to see her. Blood pounded in his veins and heat flooded his body. Any moment now. The woman stepped into frame. She unwound the elastic from her hair and tossed her dark tresses over her shoulder. The scent of strawberry floated to him. Her perfume? The scent of her shampoo? Probably his mind playing tricks on him, but he didn’t care. He licked his lips. Just to grab hold of the silky locks and bury his face in them.

She looked so damn familiar, but he’d never ventured across the courtyard to get a better look. She reminded him of the minx from the school. Tessa didn’t strike him as the type to dance in front of an open window. She came across so stiff and proper, not at all like the vibrant babe he loved to watch. Maybe if she peeled back the layers surrounding her and lived a little. Maybe. God, he wanted her to be Tessa. The resemblance was uncanny.

The woman turned her back to him and rolled her shoulders. Graig rubbed his flattened palm across his torso. His nipples beaded. From his touch or the vision of her? Both worked for him. She rested her hands on her hips, drawing his attention to her ass. A nice, plush bottom, perfect for slapping during sex and sinful when she danced.

He prayed she’d turn on her stereo. Not for the music, although sometimes he caught faint snippets of her selections. He wanted the music to accompany her dance. God, he’d come in his hand just from watching her move to whatever sensual beat she blasted from her stereo.

She snapped her fingers and left the frame of the window. Graig shot forward in his seat. Oh hell no, this wasn’t allowed to be over so soon. His heart raced. “I am too attached to this mystery woman, but damn,” he mumbled and closed his eyes. “I’m not done.”

Graig gripped the arms of the chair, ready to vacate his bedroom. Without her on display, going to bed wasn’t in the cards. He opened his eyes and watched the window.

Tingles shot from his toes to his brain to his cock. She was naked.

“Whoa,” he whispered. Full breasts bounced with her every step. Pink tinged nipples pointed to him. A thin thatch of curls protected her pussy. His lips parted and he gasped for air. For the first time since he’d started watching her, she stared in his direction. Could she see him? She cupped her breasts, giving her nipples a squeeze. Had to be Tessa or her damned twin. Did she have a twin? Not that he knew of. He couldn’t help wanting the fantasy girl to be the woman he craved—to be Tessa.

“Come on, Tessa. Show me everything.”

Here’s a little bit about me:

I’ve always dreamt of writing the stories in my head. Tall, dark, and handsome heroes are my favorites, as long as he has an independent woman keeping him in line.  I love playing with words and letting the characters run wild.

NASCAR, Ohio farmland, dirt racing, animals and second chance romance  all feature prominently in my books.  I also write under the pen name of Megan Slayer. Come join me for this fantastic journey!

Halloween Blogfest: Wendi Zwaduk

Love Witches and Halloween
by Wendi Zwaduk

I love Halloween. I love when it’s spooky. Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m not wild about being scared. I don’t like surprises and I hate when people jump out at me. You’re liable to get a fist to the face. But I love the spookiness of Halloween. There’s something sexy and fun about crushing against the one you love when you’re having the crap scared out of you. Plus, there are some really hot witches.

Jack_O_Lanterns

When I set about to write Candlelit Magic, my witch story, I didn’t want to write a typical wart encrusted, green-skinned witch. Nope. I wanted mine to be sexy and to sort of blend in. I’d done a lot of research on the Salem witches and while I don’t know if those folks were really witches, I ran with the idea of real people with special abilities. But writing about a witch isn’t easy. Nope. There’s a little more digging to be done. Like…the stones and their meanings for the witches. Or the different herbs. And the spells! Can’t forget those. What happens if a witch decides to cast a spell? Can the spell really come back to haunt him or her? Oh! And what about male witches?

Yeah, I did a lot of research. Granted, my witch isn’t conventional. She’s a love witch who has some powers, but still has to come into her own. She’s also got some serious issues—she’s not conventionally pretty, but she’s got a big heart. Oh, and she’s got blue hair. Not your typical knockout. She’s got her friend, Cian – another witch – and her store selling potions and Halloween fun, but it’s not enough. She wants love, too. The theme of the story is finding the perfect someone even when perfect isn’t possible. Havan, my witch, is looking for her special someone. You’ll have to read Candlelit Magic to see if she does.

candlelitmagic_800 (4)Here’s a little bit about Candlelit Magic:

Even love witches get the blues.

Havan’s magical potions bring couples together and give them the happily ever after of their dreams. Too bad her spells don’t work for her. In Erie View, the townspeople see nothing more than a witch. All she wants is to find that special man to embrace her quirks and love her. Will she be able to accept the blessings of the Goddesses or lose faith in herself?

Neil doesn’t believe in magic. It’s trickery for television and movies. No one creates a spell for people to fall in love. Hell, he doesn’t even believe in love. After a string of crappy dates and dead-end romances, he’s through with relationships. But a chance meeting at the grocery store changes his mind. Havan’s nothing like he expects—but is the blue haired witch enough to make him give romance another shot?
