It is the year 1480, when dark forces and violence corrupt the European court of the Duke of Nemours. The only hope remains in the hands of the Duke’s daughter Polyxena, a woman of stunning beauty that is coveted by many men.

Polyxena arrives at the castle of the Duke of Lorengar-Lorraine only to discover that the arranged marriage to her prospective husband has been foiled. The Duke has been killed in a coup d’etat. She is immediately captured, held in isolation, and commanded to marry to the new Duke, a cruel man who rules with a combination of force and fear.

A mysterious knight hears of the strength, plans, and determination of this beautiful woman, and comes to her aid. He knows she faces many obstacles and counter-plots, but he would be willing to risk his life to protect hers, not only for the sake of her people…but his own heart.

The odds are against them, death and despair come from all sides…the two will risk their lives and love for the country they share.

This truly spectacular book features a dynamic plot line with a multitude of twists and turns that kept me reading into the wee hours of the knight.

Polyxena and Arsenio’s (the Lorengar-Lorraine) were never honored enough to meet one another, but that did not change the fact that they were forced into an arranged marriage which began with scandal that never seemed to end. Polyxena never got to meet her late husband, but her determination to honor the man he was, as well as herself, is noble and made me take a instant liking to her. I really enjoyed that she immediately considers the people of Lorengar-Lorraine her people, even if they do not know or trust their new Duchess. While the people of Lorengar-Lorraine may hold her attention, the mysterious knight Duccio somehow takes grip of her heart, even if it leaves both of them extremely vulnerable to their enemies.

The romantic development definitely plays second fiddle to the external conflict within this story, which pleased me. I found the conflict between the Duke Ludwig of Saxe-Hanover and Polyxena and her deceased husband completely enthralling. The action and tension is immediately and increases beautifully until the final climax.  I typically do not favor this time period, or know much about it, but found this book entertaining.  If you enjoy a unique and dynamic plot line, you’ll undoubtedly want to read this story over and over again.

The author did a great job depicting the time period without losing her audience. I have read some historical fiction stories that are to0 modern to believe, and others that are to historical to understand and this story is neither. While the history or stories about the knights templar do play a role in the story you do not need to be familiar with them to understand or follow the storyline. Though I would have liked to have known a little bit more about the secret hidden treasures, I understand and appreciate the mystery because that was one of the largest aspect of the knights that made them fascinating.

I would highly recommend this story to practically everyone, and will absolutely re-read it myself again on a few occasions. I have a feeling this is one of those stories that you learn a little bit and appreciate it more each and every time you pick it up no matter how many times you have gone through it.

Set in Kentucky in the late nineteenth century, A Forbidden Union is sweetly endearing and inspirational. Full of faith and hope from the start, this short gem of a story takes us on a journey nonetheless. Anna , a young woman on the prairie, feels no contentment. She has a nice home, is part of a devotional community of Shakers, and has specific duties –even friends – but in her heart, yearns for something more. And the yearning brings her guilt: She is a gentle-hearted character that is so easy to sympathize with.  Any reader can understand her perspective.  Her doubts might be considered universal.

We as readers hope that things will change, even as we suspect those changes will cause Anna, herself, to change – and challenge her faith. James confronts Anna with a challenge – a heart-wrenching challenge, and we readers know what we’ll hope for, but with such regret!  The well-constructed characters kept me turning pages to see what would happen.

Dulcie Thorton returns to Harrison to write a story about the town’s famous Ice Carousel. Not only is it a 100-year tradition at the February Frost Festival, it’s also inspired love among many locals. She’s unaware that she has a history with its mysterious creator though she feels drawn to him when they meet.

Rankin, the carousel’s sculptor, has loved Dulcie for many years. Now she’s finally coming back, just when he, and his magical carousel, will be leaving town forever. Unless he can win her over and ignite her memories, he can’t stay with her.

Dulcie isn’t sure that magic really exists. Yet how could human hands carve such a wondrous carousel? If she doesn’t remember her connection to Rankin and believe in magic, she will lose the only man she has ever truly loved. And time is running out…

The reason for this is generic cialis canadian very obvious. Every year, for the last hundred years, a Mr. Carousel came to town at the end of January and he’d create the most amazing ice carousel you could imagine. It was a special event for the town and the carousel was magic. Every year, a couple found love on the carousel and subsequently married. Dulcie thought it would be there forever…

I enjoy reading about magic and fairies. For me, it’s fantasy at its best. This author does a good job of entwining fantasy, real life, grief and love all together in a tale that makes you feel good. I like happy endings. How Ms. Hahn achieves that for her characters is what the makes the story work.

Dulcie works as a journalist and is assigned to write a story about the carousel. She’s not enthused, but part of that is because her brother died and his widow lives in that town. She hasn’t really accepted his loss in her life. Her sister-in-law is remarrying and Dulcie is having a hard time picturing Jack as the new man in the family. By going to write a story on the carousel it will give her a chance to get to know him better. The interview raises more questions about Mr. Carousel than it answers.

Ms. Hahn shows the depth of the family’s sorrow over the death of Dulcie’s brother and then creates a magical journey to happiness. The fairy is in love with Dulcie and needs to make her love him to stay in this world. With a short period of time, that is quite a challenge. Even Jack isn’t what you’d expect. These little surprises keep your attention and make you uncertain just how the story will end.

This is a novella so the author didn’t have a lot of space to work her storyline out. She did a good job and left me smiling at the end. If you enjoy fantasy novels, you’ll enjoy this one. You’ll also enjoy if you like a good romance. Why not give a try and see what you think?

Both know nothing can come from this, but the chemistry sizzles between them anyway, the tension rising as the simple hair-style becomes something far bigger than either could imagine.

I loved the growing sexual tension in this story! Never have I thought a hair appointment could be so sexy or be filled with so much arousal. Javier clearly wants more from Bridget, but is unwilling to cheat when he’s been slowly exploring the beginnings of a relationship with his mystery woman, and Bridget is reluctant to trust her heart again, insisting to herself continuously that Javier has to be gay.

Although the ending wasn’t surprising it left me with a wonderful warmth and a giant smile. The buildup was excellently paced, fast enough it didn’t drag but also slow enough for there be to a really electric sensation humming between Javier and Bridget. I believed whole heartedly that they were both into each other and wildly attracted, and that made their resolution all the more satisfying. A quick read, this is perfect for when you’ve got some time to pass but still feel like a great pick-me-up story.

Doesn’t she realize that she gives away her true identity every time she moves? But Nicholas also hides a secret—one that lies at the very heart of him and can never be revealed….

With Nicholas, Emery had some wonderfully stable times even amongst the chaos that seem to lurk around every corner. The troubling times help to bring these unlikely companions together, but the thing that brought them together may also be the one thing that can tear them apart.

Nicholas is everything you would want in a knight of his time. He is strong, cunning, and stubborn in his resolve. Most of all he is a man of his word and when he makes a vow no matter the size he intends to see it through the end even at the risk of his life. These characteristics would make any woman swoon in his presence. Though, for a while I had to question if he was dim witted since he seemed to have difficulty seeing Emery for who and what she truly was, even when his squire Guy was so quick to pick on the subtleties. I quickly learned that he was not dim witted, but instead like many, he could not see past what he wanted to see to learn the truth about what was in front of him. While this may seem like something negative to another, I appreciated that it showed that he may not be as perfect as others perceived the De Burgh family members to be.

Emery’s resolve to help her brother no matter the cost is extremely noble. It is clear from the very beginning that the love for her brother has been her driving force in many instances. While the love for a sibling may be what made her start her journey, it may not necessarily be the driving force in the end. Another enduring quality of Emery’s is her ability to keep up with the boys, yet display her femininity depending on what the situation calls for. At some times I found myself forgetting the woman underneath the cloths and the boy everyone else seen where one and the same. It also made me want to learn more about her both past and present.

This story was truly a incomparable experience for me. Historical romance is a genre which is fairly new to me and, in order to engage my interest really need to have some unique aspect to pique my interest.  What attracted me first to this was that the author incorporated the Templar knights in the story. While the involvement of the Templar’s may have been what made me start the story I can honestly say that the author’s dynamic plotlines and entertaining characters are what drove me to finish the story. The various twist and turns the characters must face both from external factors as well as their own personal journeys kept  me reading well into the late night hours, and had me opening my eyes in the morning to read more. It was a delight to able to experience this other world and I could actually picture these historical characters wandering the world we once lived in.

Scraps of Paper had everything I enjoy in a story-a mystery to be solved, secrets from the past, and possibly a ghost in the heroine’s new house.

Ms. Griffith did a wonderful job setting the scene for this small town mystery. The town is even called Spookie and I felt like I was there roaming around viewing everything as the characters went about their business.

There’s a developing love interest for Abigail in the shape of an ex-sheriff, at least you hope it’s a love interest and not the person responsible for a missing woman and her children from the seventies. The pacing was perfect, and in some spots I found myself reading an extra chapter, despite my lack of time, to see what would happen next.

All the characters were well drawn and there were even a few very quirky ones thrown in. While there were some contrived things that seemed to be thrown just in to help solve the mystery, overall it will leave you guessing about the identity of the guilty party. If you enjoy a suspense with a light touch of romance thrown in then this is probably a good pick for you.

Peacock feathers have long been thought to be unlucky. So when Drusilla accidentally comes to possess an India fan made of peacock feathers she has to decide whether she lets the unlucky myth follow her for the rest of her life, or try to live her life to the fullest.

Drusilla spent her entire life watching the eccentric Framlings live a life of privilege and little consequences. Drusilla, the practical one, spends too many years trying to fix everyone else’s mistakes and seemed to forget to live her own life in the process. Drusilla really got to experience a lot when she befriended Lavinia Framling as a child. It saddened me however, that Drusilla seemed to forget about her own needs in order to try to keep her mischievous friend in line. It made for a truly entertaining story.

One thing that did puzzle me was the lack of romantic development between Fabian and Drusilla. For a better part of the story Fabian isn’t even present. While it is obvious he has some type of infatuation with Drusilla the romance just seemed to be missing. I think part of this is because of the time period in which the story took place. Courting was different back then, and Drusilla was a very modest girl. With such little relationship development I would not consider this story a romance novel at all, but by no means does this mean the story was not entertaining.

This was a true adventure of two very different girls who are thrown together by circumstances. I think this is a great story to show morality at its best. While Drusilla may seem plain and uninteresting to some she has a good head on her shoulders which leads her to make practical life choices, as well as try to guide her friend on how a young lady should conduct themselves. The story completely enthralled me from the first page and pulled every emotional imaginable out of me, and in the end I didn’t want the story to end. I would definitely read this story again and again for years to come.

1893—A man who goes only by the name of “Jones” isn’t looking for trouble when he happens across Miss Trinity Franklin at the riverside. He is simply on his way to North Dakota to seek the advice of Tom Curtis, a former CN&W Railroad land purchaser. But when Jones spots a lady who is about to become the victim of a marauding band of thugs, he quickly follows his instincts. A handy barrel and a nearby river seem the perfect getaway solution…how was he to know she couldn’t swim?

Thus begins an adventure beyond what either could have anticipated. After Jones again rescues Trinity—this time from the river—they find their destination is the same: a small town in North Dakota. A seemingly coincidental beginning comes to a delightful and charming ending when orchestrated by the One who can put the pieces of any lost and broken life together.

Not only did she not know who this man was, he stuck her in a barrel and put the lid on it. Then during a fight with others, he managed to knock her barrel into the river! She hated being confined in the dark and couldn’t swim. What was she going to do now???

Ms. Copeland writes western historical novels with a touch of romance. She brings her characters to life; they no longer live in the pages, they walk in your mind just like real. She also creates endearing characters. You have Trinity and Jones, the two main characters, who have been getting along fine and aren’t looking for love. She also adds Trinity’s grandmother, who happens to be 94 and is sparking with a long-time love that she denied in younger years but is feeling a bit mellower about in her old age.

Life is not easy for a woman alone in the west. Trinity had nothing of value but the ranch her brother was trying to build. Her parents had died and now her brother is gone, too. When rustlers come through and destroy the cabin and her belongings and steal her money, it’s bad enough. But then locusts come through. Anything that had any value is gone now. She only has the land left. How will she locate the title to sell the land? She has no idea, but she knows she may have a relative in town, so she starts walking.

The dance between the couples facing love is the best part of the book. Grandma is still feisty and her suitor isn’t about to give up. Trinity and Jones keep trying to separate and go on with their lives, but somehow it never works out. The author tantalizes you with the back and forth emotional war they are living through.

It’s a good read about strong personalities and good people and I liked it well enough I’m going to keep the book in my personal library so I can read it again. I do that when authors can bring their characters to life and keep my attention though out the book. After all, I wouldn’t mind taking Jones home with me…

I really enjoyed this sweet fantasy romance. Truthfully, Aria “felt” very young and this book would be more than appropriate for teens and the young adult market as well as those adult readers looking for a sweet escape. The story was very well written, exciting in places, touching in others and I never wanted to put it down. I loved Aria and the Il-Bora, enjoyed watching them together and appreciated their fight to be together against what seems like insurmountable odds.

However, the ending was a bit of a disappointment — not in the resolution, which was more than satisfying — but in the execution. The entire book is working its way to this moment and then zip-zap, it was over in just a few pages. I was sad that it felt so rushed, because the rest of the story is just so lovely and well executed. I also would have liked just a bit more of the H/H at the end, so we would have the satisfaction of finally seeing them together at last.

Still, Wind’s Aria is a story I’m glad I read. And Tessa Stockton shows amazing promise as an up and coming author. I look forward to reading more from her. Good fantasy isn’t always easy to find, and she clearly knows how to write it.

I enjoyed this book. Hamden, the watching spirit, brings humor to the grisly situation of murder. Ted seemed a little too quick to judge Zoe, especially about the paranormal visions she has. Apparently he has a reason for this but I didn’t really understand why as the meaning wasn’t revealed in any great detail.

The storyline is excellent and the highs bring in breath-holding tension to be released only when the tale slows to a moderate pace. Questions surfaced as I read further into the book. Who committed the murders? Will Zoe deny her abilities and have a happy ever after with Ted? Or will she embrace her powers and wave goodbye to non-believer Ted? The author kept me guessing until the end. Good book, scintillating story, well worth a read.
