It’s a hot summer day and Beth is engaged in her favorite pastime—daydreaming about Grant, the college-aged young man whose cut her lawn every summer since her husband divorced her three years ago. He’s on a football scholarship with a quarterback’s lean limbs, tight abs and strong shoulders and Beth would love nothing better than to figure out how to get to know him better. She’s imagined a thousand scenarios.

Can she bring herself to act on one before the summer ends?

When you just can’t stop thinking about someone unattainable then all that’s left is to daydream, or is it?

Beth Barnes is an older lady busy keeping her house in order and ogling her sexy gardener Grant. Grant has earned a football scholarship to Kansas University and his athletic, perfectly honed body is a welcome dose of eye-candy on her lawn. Who can blame her? I would look too!

What’s nice about Daydreams is that Ms Towers has gone a little deeper than just the physical; the main characters enjoy each other’s company. And what’s also nice is not only do we get to hear Beth’s lusty thoughts about Grant, but we also get an insight into Grant’s feelings for Beth. The story switches between the two character’s minds and let’s just say they are seriously hot for each other and not lacking imagination.

There is an age gap sure, but it’s handled well by the author and I have to say I really enjoyed reading about the fantasies this couple were having about each other, and that is the main part of the story, their daydreams as they admire the other on a hot sunny day in the garden. The temperature certainly goes up as you turn the pages that’s for sure.

The story ends with the feeling that there is so much more going to happen, and I for one would be happy to find out all the juicy details, even though I did feel for Beth and her… predicament at the very end.

Daydreams is great writing and a hot short story that left me panting for more, much more.

Lara’s years of rigorous training are evident in how calmly she reacts to everything that happens to her in this story. Her demeanor also gave me the opportunity to get to know her better as an individual in a very short amount of time. I finished this tale feeling as if I’d experienced a novella’s worth of character development because of how well Lara’s thoughts and reactions are woven into her flight.

Given everything I learned about the ship she is stationed on, the ending doesn’t quite seem to fit in with the scenes that precede it. While it wrapped up the main storyline it also prompted me to wonder why a decision that a particular character makes during it was not utilized much earlier on. In a novella information about why that was the best option for this particular situation could be subtly woven into ongoing conversation, but in a story of this length there wasn’t room for the plot development necessary to explain why that character made that choice.

Ms. Nix kept me on the edge of my seat. Every single sentence in this piece accentuates the rapidly building tension. What was even more surprising to me was how the brief flashes about Lara’s past and life outside of her occupation added to the suspense.

I’d recommend The Shuttle to anyone who enjoys military and hard science fiction. It’s a quick, rewarding read that I’m glad I picked up.

He’s not necessarily a nice guy, but his ability to cut to the heart of the matter propels the plot forward on more than on occasion.

So much time was spent developing Gerry’s backstory and personality that it was difficult for me to figure out Lily’s character at times. Because this story is written from Gerry’s point of view it wasn’t always easy to differentiate between his opinion of her and her genuine personality. The few glimpses I had of her were tantalizing, and I wish more time had been spent on dialogue between these two characters so that it would have been easier to determine if Gerry’s opinions match what his wife would say.

The mystery itself was tightly woven and a challenge to unravel. Ms. Russell packs quite a few plot twists into this tale, some of which were completely unexpected to this reader. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

The Loving Wife is a spellbinding mystery about all of the unspoken moments that accompany marriage and other long term commitments.

When Emma knocks a wolf unconscious with her car, she naturally takes it home with her to make sure it’s alright. By the time she gets home, the wolf is awake and as soon as she brings it inside, it transforms into a hot man, Kevin. He spends the night convincing her she is his mate.

The morning after Emma is horrified that Kevin claimed her without her permission … can Kevin convince her he’s the werewolf of her dreams?

Emma is frustrated her boss kept her back late at work, forcing her to drive through the oncoming snowstorm. On the icy road she accidently hits a grey wolf with her car, completing the crappy start to her weekend. Still, her nature to collect and rescue stray animals has her bringing the large wolf home with her to take care of him.

Before learning about the complications, let discount cialis canada us discuss some basics of impotence.
Let go of reality and logic and sink yourself into this sexy story. At first I struggled with Emma’s actions. Who brings an injured (but not bleeding or desperately hurt wolf) into their car and doesn’t restrain them? Or what kind of wolf wakes up in the back of a moving car with a human close by and doesn’t attack, growl or even raise his heckles? So there were a few logic points that had me wondering in the beginning. Very quickly though, Emma is shown the truth, that she hasn’t brought back a hurt wolf to her home, but a very handsome, horny werewolf. And this is where the steamy, sexy fun really begins.

While many of Emma’s reactions aren’t firmly realistic—like being more interested in jumping Kevin’s bones than wondering how a real, live werewolf actually existed and had fallen into her lap—the erotic sex scene, sensual fun and games she and Kevin play more than make up for that. I enjoyed how the author walked the fine line between animalistic pleasure and more tender sex. At first it was a little shocking to me how Kevin actually bit Emma in the heat of the moment. That’s more a vampire thing to my mind, not werewolf, but the author wrote it in good taste and I could see how the wolf side of Kevin was very strong and his aggressive attraction to Emma was legitimate and not some plot device.

I found this to be a short and very hot story, with an excellent erotic component. The world Ms Wren has created sounds very interesting and I enjoyed some of the snippets she showed us of the pack life and differences in her werewolves. I’d have enjoyed reading more of Emma and Kevin, especially to see how his pack takes her presence or what happens after her life has been so drastically changed, but this is a delicious teaser and I’d be interested to read more. A fun, sexy, quick read, I really enjoyed this.

Everyone says Nicole is a survivor, but she doesn’t feel like one. The jagged scar across her chest is a bitter reminder of the disease she overcame, and the life she lost because of it. Now, on six months into remission, she’s spending a week at a secluded resort for a family wedding. Nicole has to put her anger aside and fool her family into thinking everything is fine.

Jake has his own scars. After he is left marred by a deadly fire that killed his fiancé, he now lives a recluse life as the handyman at Eden’s Escape. Jake only wants to keep being invisible but from the minute Nicole gets to the resort, he has to save the reckless woman from herself and the risk that she carelessly seeks out.

Nicole wants to spend the week living without regrets and is determined to feel something besides the anger that has consumed her through a brutal battle she never wanted to survive. She can’t deny the attraction to the man with a dark past. Together, Jake and Nicole discover that hiding scars is easier than healing them.

Heading to an island retreat for a family member’s wedding, Nicole Seville’s phone runs out of battery at possibly the worst time ever. Stuck in a bus shelter, in the rain, in the middle of nowhere wasn’t her choice of ways to celebrate her six month anniversary for being in remission from cancer. When her lift finally arrives Nicole isn’t thrilled when Jake’s mere presence at the small Crab Bar almost starts a fight. That, coupled with his forbidding attitude and scarred face, has her wondering what the heck she’s let herself in for.

If you are coming here later in the evening, you will be able to listen to soothing tunes belted out by a pianist while sipping on a mojito. You will not be able to perform like cheap price viagra in your youth.
I was greatly intrigued by the set-up of this story. While Jake is the one externally scarred, Nicole also has plenty of emotional and inner scars herself. Having survived cancer (or being in remission, she admits one never “survives” cancer) and trying her best to convince everyone around her – her family in particular – that everything is fine and dandy, she’s a complex woman with a number of problems on her plate. I also found myself drawn into Jake’s dark, broody nature. While from the outset it’s clear he’s survived a nasty fire that killed a woman special to him, it’s also just as crystal clear there’s far more to that story than the mere “coward” tag the rest of the town seems to have branded him with.

Almost immediately I wanted to dig deeper into the mystery and find out what was beneath both their surfaces. Initially I was frustrated because Nicole was so submerged in her own issues it didn’t even cross her mind to open her eyes and discover the story behind Jake. One can’t blame her, with family to placate and a wedding to attend, as well as being set up with various cousins of cousins, Nicole does have a lot going on. I found Jake far and away the most interesting character – aside from Nicole herself – and I was glad when they started spending time together. As Nicole and Jake got to know each other better both of their complex personalities shine and their compatibility becomes both more understandable and clear.

This wasn’t an average romance story. The opening few chapters were filled with tension and had a multi-layered mystery feel of “it was a dark and stormy night”. Both Jake and Nicole – initially at least – are abrasive, intriguing characters. Neither are from the classic, “traditional” hero or heroine mold. While the strength (and sometimes rough temperament) of these two won’t suit everyone, I really enjoyed how the author presented both Nicole and Jake and made me want to know more about them. The clever writing and subtle clues led me to believe there was so much more happening than a first glance would show kept me turning the pages.

Much of the mystery initially presented became background noise as Nicole and Jake got to know each other in the middle of the book, but the author does subtly drop hints and teases of why Jake’s hung around, what really happened the night he got his scars and how Jake and Nicole could well be the perfect tonic for each other. I found this to be a complex and intriguing romantic mystery novel. The characters are well drawn and while the mystery lags a little in the middle, I found overall the pace moved swiftly and kept me interested. Recommended.

Colin Lyre, recently inherited 10th Duke of Lincoln, has been told his whole life that he is superfluous to his family.

Life throws Colin’s plans wayward when he rescues the beautiful Annabelle from a ball. She makes him realize how much better his life could be, but he doesn’t know if he truly deserves such happiness.

Annabelle wants nothing to do with the responsibility of marrying a title. She simply wants to make a suitable match with a gentleman who can support her family.

However, making the rational decision to stay away from one another is much harder than either of them expects.

Colin Lyre, always told he was “superfluous”, begins to slowly overcome his feelings of inadequacy when Annabelle Collins makes him feel like the “most important person in the world”. It is a painful process that costs him dearly emotionally.

He is overwhelmed with his responsibilities and duties as the new Tenth Duke of Lincoln. He seems rather spineless and inept as he lets this mother and his dead brother’s wife manipulate him.

He had fit perfectly into the role of the second son of a duke—the spare. However, coping with his new role is too much and he lets it preclude protecting his wife from the vicious machinations of his mother and sister-in-law. He even seems to side with them against his heartbroken wife who is “his angel”. When she distances herself from him, he turns to drink and gambling.

Colin is a flawed hero that needs more to redeem him than most. He kept me turning pages hoping he’d get a grip and use the power he has as a duke.

Annabelle, a nineteen-year-old beauty, is without money or position. She has one Season to find a wealthy husband—no title needed. She hope for a gentle man under forty that will be wealthy enough and willing enough to help her siblings get established in life. She falls hard for Colin but knows she is not duchess material. She is a genuine, straightforward, warm, happy, talented beauty without guile—not traits that endear her to the Ton.

The Reluctant Duke entertains well. Another thorough edit would have made it even better. A few things here and there take the reader out of the story. The interesting secondary characters pretty much carry the action of the novel other than the love scenes. The hero all but retreats from the field of action; while the heroine hides and bides her time. However, each of them gains insight and courage from some of the secondary characters like the indomitable Victoria and the other three ‘spares’.

The love scenes, well-drawn and explicit, give the reader a picture of how dear and necessary Colin and Annabelle are to each other. I felt like I was just being told about many of the other scenes and actions, but through it all there is no doubt about the soul-mate connection the hero and heroine have. I did so want a scene where Colin puts his mother in her rightful place to smooth the way for Annabelle. I did get the feeling that Annabelle gained strength and a sense of her own worth and power. She will probably smooth her own way to being a notable duchess.

In a foul mood after travelling back to her parent’s place for the Christmas holidays, Joy Grady fell into a bitter argument with her mother and siblings and ended up leaving before she’d even had the chance to unpack her suitcase. Not having thought her abrupt departure through, there were the proverbial no rooms to let, and Joy ends up in one of the seedier motels she’s had the displeasure of finding. But beggers can’t be choosers. When an emergency occurs, she and another patron of the motel – Eli – are put indefinitely in the same room. Sparks fly and suddenly what seemed to be a waste of a plane ticket and the worst Christmas ever seems could turn out to be not so bad after all.

While a part of me totally sympathizes with the heroine in her rotten Christmas mood, I couldn’t help but feel in part she came across as selfish and childish. Jealous of her sister’s fast, rich, model lifestyle and her baby brother being spoiled silly by their mum, she takes her angst out on her family, fighting with her siblings and mother. Despite her mum calling twice to make amends and request they spend some time together over the Christmas season, Joy initially ignores these olive branches and I found much of my sympathy for her soured. I also felt the plot device used to get Joy and Eli together was a bit over the top. I certainly can give the author kudos for imagination, but coming after a huge argument with family and quite a bit of highly emotional shouting the circumstances in the motel felt a bit unrealistic.

The chemistry between Joy and Eli, however, was fast paced and hot. I thought some of the interactions with the secondary characters were highly emotional and a lot happens in this short space of time portrayed. I understand that this is a short story, but still feel a bit of a better balance would have made this book even better than it is. The sex is well written and steamy. I would have loved a bit more detail to slow the pace of the story at this final point, particularly once Eli and Joy get together in the hotel room. There is a lovely amount of build up in the first half of the story – explaining how Joy came to be there with Eli – and once things get moving the sexy action is quick and the chemistry between them intense. I enjoyed the happy ending and feel there is definitely a rosy future for Eli and Joy.

Being stereotyped because he was raised in a household with money is nothing new for him to deal with. With the advice of Thaddeus Thorne, Rayford’s work out pal and the help of Sharon, Cecilia’s receptionist Rayford devises a plan to win Cecilia’s heart.

I am a romance at heart and love to see love win. Rayford greets Cecilia with flowers and a Saturday outing planned that soften her heart and also showed a side to Cecilia in my opinion that she was easy and desperate. Maybe that description is a little too harsh, but in this day and age Cecilia was moving a lot to fast for my personal speed in a relationship with a stranger she has only known just a few hours. I tried to keep in mind this is a fantasy but that did not help. I was so hoping the author would keep Cecilia as a strong, intelligent woman that she started out to be but that wasn’t the case.

I enjoyed the sex scenes and there were plenty of them. I think the author did a great job in the description of their love making. Believe me I was making mental notes on some of the sexual play. Ms. Trent had plenty of hot sex scenes that would have you blushing while your reading. However, the premature pet names, grinding and tongue kissing and they had only known each other possibly not even an hour. This was a huge turn off for me. Like I said I was so hoping the author would extend the romancing session but it continued on. Rayford met Cecilia on a Friday and was staying the night at her place Saturday night. Whoa! Nothing happened sexually that night, but it would have if Rayford had not stopped Cecilia’s advances.

Even though I didn’t agree with the early on set of sexual conduct and the romance seemed rushed I still found the storyline of Cecilia and her views of those with money very interesting. I was also happy that Rayford turned out to be a good guy and had Cecilia’s best interest at heart when her past made an appearance.

Over all What Truly Matters is a good read. If you are looking for steamy love scenes wrapped in a neat happy ending this is a book you will want to read.

An enjoyable read, Forget Me Knot is the second book in the Dog Wild series by Melissa Glisan. This book can be read as a standalone but is best to be read as part of the series.

Celena is a smart woman who has worked hard all her life. She skipped several grades in school. She met Madden in high school. Both were taken with each other at first sight despite the age difference. Madden is the alpha of the wolf lord’s pack. The pain of losing Celena makes Madden stay in wolf form as much as he can.  The chemistry between Celena and Madden is off the charts. The sex scenes are very hot. These two complement each other very well. I can see these two spending the rest of their lives together.

Flora is one of triplets. She is different as night and day compared to them. She always felt different compared to them. Faunus is used to getting what he wants. There was a lot of chemistry between Flora and Faunus.

The book was difficult for me to follow for the first third or so.  One of the problems I had with this story was the dueling story lines. They seemed to compete with each to each for the reader’s attention. One couple always seems to be more interesting to the reader. I think if the author separated the story lines, I would have appreciated each story line more.  And the use of nicknames was a bit confusing.  However, the heat and chemistry between the characters made up for that!

Overall, this was enjoyable read. This author shows a lot of promise for the future and I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.
