I loved this story. Leila Brown has made Ciarran a totally luckless witch, one whose magic is not only gone, but any magic she does have goes horribly wrong. The misadventures that occur on the way to solving her problem are hot and hilarious. Anything that can go wrong does, but Ms Brown does it with such humor that I laughed right along with each and every mishap. And the sex is way above hot, with the attention of two hunks focused on this witch. Possibly the only good luck for Ciarran was meeting these two.

This is a wonderful short read, and would be especially fun to read at St. Patrick’s Day. Does Ciarran get her magic back? Read this tale and find out.

It moved quickly and fluidly always keeping the reader wanting more. Keeping one interested all the way to the very end and even making you want to know more about the other characters in the story. Characters like George, the Emperor or others (don’t want to spoil any surprises) fit smugly into the plot, which although seemed to advance a bit slowly at times, ended up rising to its challenge.

Glimpses of humor along with large doses of love and very wild sex (as usual Mrs. Marsters descriptions are wild and vivid) make Empire 1: After The Fall a hot read for these warm summer nights.

The sensuality of Deadly Crimson sizzles on every page. It is not limited to the sex scenes. Trista Ann Michaels builds a world of the senses where every moment is foreplay and games between the sheets are the culmination and reward for the waiting.

Deadly Crimson is most definitely a fun read, and Trista Ann Michaels is an author worth watching. It looks like there is more to tell about the world in which Stacy met Jason and Vincent, more heat, and more danger on the horizon.

The relationships formed in Joely Sue Burkhart’s first book in the Blood and Shadows series, The Rose of Shanhassan, are cemented by blood in this book. The characters are richly drawn and fully engaging, and the feelings are deep and strong throughout the story.

This book deals with the struggle to win acceptance for Shannari from the Nine Camps, and to prepare her for the tribulations ahead of her as she fights to meet her destiny to become Queen of the Green Lands and unseat King Theo, the embodiment of Lygon, the lord of The Endless Night who controls him. The bonds of Shannari and her co-mates are forged by blood, and are strong and enduring. Shannari becomes the mate to both Rhaekhar, Khul of the Nine Camps, and his First Blood, Gregar, the Shadowed Blood. The tribes don’t want to accept an “outlander” like Shannari as the mate to their leader, but she is able to show them that she is not weak. This book takes the reader on the journey with Shannari as she comes into her power, not only as the Last Daughter of The Blessed Lady Leesha of the Green Lands, but as Khul’lanna of the Nine Camps of the Sha’Kae al’Dan, co-mate to Rhaekhar and Gregar. All roads in this lead to the great battle for the Rose Crown of Shanhassan, a Trial by Blood between the Champions of Shannari and Theo.

The Road to Shanhassan is definitely not a standalone book. The relationships in this book are dependent on the set up from The Rose of Shanhassan, and could be quite confusing if you have not read that book. But this book pushes the limits to new levels, in terms of passion, strength and pure lust. The scenes between the three main characters are so explicitly hot and erotic I expected my e-reader to melt. Ms. Burkhart creates her world so skillfully, the people and places become real to the reader, and the emotions are deep and, at times quite gut-wrenchingly real. There were many places in the story where I cried along with Shannari, at her depth of loss and her heights of joy and passion. There is humor scattered throughout the book as well; wicked sharp humor with a bite to it, to be sure.

Nothing in this book can be seen as “filler”; every single scene is necessary to the plot, and even the seemingly innocuous events come to have significance in retrospect. The character development throughout the book is wonderful, and I look forward to the final installment impatiently.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who loves a lot of action, a lot of passion and lots of steamy romance. Like the previous book in the series, this one is not for the faint of heart. If you want a simple “happily ever after” this is not the book for you. But if you want depth of characters and excellent storytelling, Joely Sue Burkhart comes through with one fantastic book. I can’t wait for the next one.

This was one of the most enjoyable reads I’ve had in a long time. Well written with humor and sass, this story draws you in, holds on tight, and doesn’t let go till you’ve read the last word. The author combines elements from several genres, which I just love, and brings them together for a really good, really hot read.

The sex is also really, really smokin’ hot from the first scene with Matt, who tries to explain to horny Maya that he’s seeing someone else. Maya couldn’t be less concerned as she explains, “See her, fuck me,” and continues this way right on through the book to the very end with a threesome. But what I like about the story more than the hot freaking sex, and I really liked the hot freaking sex, was that the plotline and characters could actually hold their own even if there hadn’t been graphic sex. (Though I would like to thank the author for including it!)

Hannah Beckham provides a rollicking, frolicking, licking good time that will keep you engrossed all the way through. Put down what you’re reading now and pick up this book!
