Over the past two years, Rory has learned that other people aren’t the best of company, that the guilt of causing the Apocalypse is a heavy burden, and that monsters only see him as a meal. Until Rory met Inkiri, who sees Rory as his mate.

Now, Rory has to navigate what it means to be with someone who not only isn’t human but who also is from another world altogether… and since Rory finds himself in that otherworld all of a sudden, he has to adapt fast. Inkiri definitely has no intention of slowing down in his quest to make his human mate happy.

While Rory is beginning to wrap his head around liking the new place and the new customs, he can’t relax into a peaceful happily ever after because whatever connection Rory has to the magic that unleashed the Apocalypse, people want that, meaning they want him. Where Rory and his newfound family ran to may not have been far enough to escape their pursuers’ clutches.

More magic, more intrigue and more love.

I liked book one in this series and I’m glad I picked up book two. This one is set in Ink’s world, and I really felt like I was there with the characters. I liked the pacing and the way this book is set up. The story moves so fast, but it’s a great clip. I was right there with the characters and liked how they grew through this book.

Ink and Rory are good together and I liked seeing how they grew together. Rory is starting to come into his magic a bit more and Ink has welcomed Rory into his world. They’re a great pairing.

This isn’t a simple story. Ink has found family with him, and they add their own complications. Plus, Rory seems to be a magnet for trouble. These added layers to the story and I liked it. I liked how things never really slowed down.

If you’re looking for a monster romance that’s not the usual, then this might be the one you’re looking for. Check this one out!

Two years ago, the world ended with a wish, and it’s all Rory’s fault. Now, after he’s managed to survive all this time, it looks like karmic justice is finally coming for him. It looks like a monster is going to eat him, and Rory, while he is sorry for what he did, doesn’t want to die.

And he does not, because a stranger saves him from becoming monster food. The stranger features horns, blue skin, and too many swords. He is also really tall and muscular and handsome. In a monstrous way.

Rory might have jumped from the frying pan straight into the fire, because a big blue monster isn’t exactly Rory’s idea of a happily-ever-after. Not that he’s been thinking about that or about any sort of ravishing when the blue monster might still eat him or keep him as a pet.

But while Rory does not get eaten or ravished (sigh), the meeting with his monster mate shakes loose more revelations about what really happened two years ago than Rory is prepared to handle, especially since he was considering the comfortable life of a monster’s pet. He definitely wasn’t considering his monster’s murderous buddy, running so much, and going to another world, but sometimes, you just have to roll with the handsome blue monster the Apocalypse gives you.

Fast-paced and full of heart.

I love finding a new series and this one looks promising. Alexa Piper is a favorite author of mine and I’m glad I found this new series. The writing clipped along well, and I couldn’t get enough of Rory or Inkiri. They’re good together and I rooted for them. I also liked how there wasn’t a ton of world building, but enough to make the story flow well. I knew what was going on.

Rory has been through the wringer and he’s skittish. I liked that he showed the human side of trauma because he’s relatable. I also liked how Inkiri took care of him. He needed that. I liked the two together and for monster romance, this one sizzles. There’s a lot more going on in this story than one book, so I’m glad there will be others.

If you’re looking for a post-apocalyptic story with monsters, humans and a fleshed-out storyline, then this is the one for you. Check it out. I’m off to find book 2.

Or is she?

Usually when you hear voices in your mind, it’s a sign of impending madness or a load of stress. For Lenore, she is convinced it could be both!

I found the start of this book to be very confusing. The point of view changed from Lenore, to Jon, to Zeena, to Minton, and back again with no indication of who was ‘speaking’. As well as Lenore, other people are being called too and you have no idea why. Add to that, that this is set in futuristic Earth with beings from another planet/dimension/time zone and maybe you can understand my confusion.

The relationship between Lenore and Jon was mostly physical. I didn’t really feel any other connection between them. The relationships between the others of the Octad were jumbled as I hadn’t had time to get to know them so I had no idea about their capabilities etc.

I found some things in the book to be way too easy and others to be unnecessarily hard. That being said, once I got my head wrapped around the fact it was a futuristic romance, then I began to enjoy the story more. There were no big surprises but an easy flowing story that eventually held my attention.

It’s not an easy story, but it’s a good one and recommended.

Due to a fortuitous circumstance, Wyatt and his friends are invited to the star-studded opening of Monsterland. In a theme park full of real vampires, werewolves and zombies, what could possibly go wrong?

Not quite horror (despite some gore), but certainly plenty scary in parts, Monsterland was a great read.

First off, I have to say this: author Michael Phillip Cash has serious writing chops. From the first line I was plunged into the story with his clear, vivid descriptions and interesting scenes. The characters were so clearly drawn I felt as if I sat right there with them on the couch in the home watching the TV. I was really impressed.

The story was interesting. Occasionally scary, occasionally funny, sometimes desperately sad, I was completely engrossed. Is it an unlikely scenario? Absolutely. Most dystopian-type books that I read I’ll nod and think, “Yep, I can see that happening.” but not so much this one. Did that diminish my enjoyment? Not really. But, honestly, that’s mostly because I was so crazy about the characters. There were a few places where I really had to suspend my belief in reality for this, but I didn’t care. I’d have followed Carter and Wyatt anywhere.

The story does start a little slowly, but it sort of had to in order to introduce us to what’s going on…a town that’s on the brink of collapse, a virus that turns people into zombies, a wealthy businessman who’s going to save everyone with his theme park and Carter’s suspicion of the guy’s motives.

I really loved Carter. He’s trying so hard to be a good dad to his step-kids, both of whom are teens so it makes it that much harder for him to connect with them. They have the “you’re not my dad” syndrome, but he doesn’t give up. He’s a great guy. Despite wanting to slap the boys now and then, they grew on me and definitely did some growing up and maturing during the story.

There is some strong language and descriptive gore throughout, so be warned if that’s not your thing. But if it is? You should definitely give this book a go. It was a winner for me, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for more from this author.

In the aftermath of battle, Esterion, Ranger of the New Order, is looking for nothing more than a few moments’ peace. The last thing she expects is to be swept off her feet — literally — by a massive Blue Dragon who claims she’s his mate. Esterion knows nothing of the old ways — her mother’s seen to that — and she’s not about to be cowed into accepting Cerulean’s word that she’s the mate he’s been seeking for over 100 years. She certainly wasn’t searching for him!

The end of the world…Shifter style!

Esterion is a ranger of the New Order. This means she’s a warrior, a soldier (not human) who fights to protect the humans and the world they live in. Esterion is the daughter of two powerful dragons. Her mother also fights to protect the humans whereas her father, who has an old world belief, prefers to not get involved in human business. However, with the Earth dying, the humans and dragons are going to have to pair up to protect humanity.

After years of searching for his mate, Cerulean finally finds her as the result of the outcome of a battle.

The first thing that I have to say would be that I didn’t read the first book of this series. There was a lot of the back story and initial facts of the book that were missing in this second book. For a reader who is interested in this book I would very much suggest to get the first book to completely understand the whole story.

Renegade is a very short story with an end of the world quality to it. However, the plot was not as developed as I would have liked. It felt like the main plot went missing halfway through. Though by the end I still wasn’t quite sure if the main plot was the Earth dying or the relationship between Esterion and Cerulean.

That being said, the sex between Esterion and Cerulean is hot. Very Hot! Never thought shifted dragon sex could be sexy! But it is both  sexy and passionate.  Anyone looking for a quick and hot dragon story should check out this book!

In an alternate 1900s New England, suspected witches are sent to the gallows–although they are hardly the witches of olden days. No, these are gorgeous contemporary girls with lives, loves, and special powers. They’d use the power for good, if they could–like curing disease–but they are in a world where helping someone means putting themselves at risk.

Spotswood’s characters simply shine. The good in their hearts speaks louder than any special magic skills, readers can’t help admiring them and sympathizing with their plight. These are not the dark characters found in some tales: no, in fact, Cate’s specialty is healing magic. Tess, who can foretell, seems always the sweetest and most vulnerable of the sisters, Maura… oh, dear, Maura. Sisters can be sisters! In a family of remarkable closeness Cate and Maura have their differences – different approaches to try to achieve the same thing, only here, those differences might lead to disaster.

Cate struggles not to lose boyfriend Finn, who has no memory of her, while being true to her sisters. Finn is a simply wonderful, real, heartfelt character; readers will adore him.

Spotswood’s New England is both familiar and entirely strange: geographically the same and yet, a magical world that is scene to the struggles between powers.

Although part of a series, this can be read and understood as a stand-alone. Reading this makes me regret not starting at the beginning! Although a ‘paranormal,’ Sister’s Fate, so character-driven, will have a wide general appeal and might well draft a few new readers to the genre! Beautifully written.

In a post-apocalyptic world where medieval kingdoms have once again evolved, Princess Cadence is forced to choose only one lover, and he must be a real Prince.

Dominic of the Northern Free Zone received a Royal Invitation to journey to the New West Dominion and meet Princess Cadence by mistake. He’s not a real Prince at all. Still, he isn’t about to pass up a chance to meet Cadence, who it’s rumored can please beyond imagination in bed.

Cadence turns out to be more than Dominic bargained for, both in and out of the bedroom. When he realizes Ethan, one of the Royal Gardeners, has worshipped her from afar for years, he invites the servant to join them in the Princess’s bedchamber.

But what happens when Dominic’s true identity is revealed, and the King and Queen find out their daughter has bedded a servant?

Cadence is the spoiled princess, Dominic is just looking for some fun and Ethan just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and is helplessly in love.

The Rebellious Princess Chooses Two Lovers was a fun, light, sexy read without an overly complicated plot and full of lots of scorching sex.

Though I enjoyed reading this short story, relating with the characters was not an easy task. Cadence knew what she wanted and how she wanted it but she was a little too passionate about everything. She vowed her love, she vowed revenge, she vowed to uncover the truth…I believe the author was trying to construct a strong and enthusiastic character but I found her ardour annoying and a little shallow.

Dominic, on the other hand, was the ruthless man looking for a good time who falls for the pretty girl. He was attractive and inquisitive when it came to the sex and his secrets were genuinely surprising.

Finally, Ethan was really sweet, but at times he felt like a filler character, placed into the story so that Cadence could have sex with both men. It was a shame, because I really would have liked to learn more about the servant.

One thing is for sure, the author knows how to portray the chemistry between the characters, and her descriptions when it came to the sex were sizzling. There was male-female, male-female-male, a little brushing up between the two hot male protagonists and even some spanking. Based in a “pseudo-medieval kingdom”, the crude language the author sometimes employed just made the story a whole lot more fun to read.

Overall, The Rebellious Princess Chooses Two Lovers is a fun, light and hot read, perfect for a quick bedtime story.

FALLEN ANGELS

They rule Moscow’s seedy underworld, promising untold pleasure to the females who dare to mate them. That promise—and Brends Duranov’s own raw sexual power—has hopefuls mobbing the velvet rope outside his elite club G2’s.

But Mischka Baran has no intention of hooking up with one of the Fallen. Not even after Brends gives her an unforgettable taste of the sin and seduction he can deliver with those wicked lips. She’s after information, not a stint as some Goblin’s toy of the month. What she doesn’t know is that with a sadistic killer carving up his brethren, Brends is playing for keeps, hunting the one woman whose bloodline can end the mayhem, whose bond can restore his lost wings.

What price would you pay to save someone you love? Would it be too much to ask for your soul? This is the dilemma Mischka Baran finds herself in when her cousin, Pelinor, goes missing. Before she can find Pell, Brends Duranov, resident club owner and fallen angel, convinces her she must accept his mate bond to ensure her safety from a rogue angel.

My first thought when I read the blurb for Bond With Me was “Wow, this sounds darkly seductive”. Let me tell you, I was right on the money! Dark and seductive only begin to describe this powerful and creative journey into the Russian underworld. Ms. Marsh had me riveted from the very beginning. Her characters exude strength in personality as well as spirit. I felt like the setting of an inhospitable war torn city and neglected countryside in the year 2090 is representative of the fallen angels or Dominions. The differences in Brends attitude from the beginning of the story to the conclusion is like walking out of darkness into a brightly lit room.

Brends character is filled with a soul consuming combination of self denial of his inner Beast, anger at the one he holds at fault for the lives of the fallen and a longing to return to Heaven. His one chance at redemption shows up his club needing help. Mischka is the consummate caretaker in her family. She feels it’s her duty to always “do the right thing” when secretly she wants to be more carefree like her cousin, Pelinor. Brends brings out the bad girl in Mischka and she in turn reminds him that doing good has its own rewards.

While Pell and Dathan are secondary characters in this novel their story is beautiful, poignant and pivotal to the plot. There is a rogue Fallen that does the dirty work and then there is the evil “puppet master” that manipulates the Fallen as well as circumstances to put himself into a position of power. This is a very typical bad guy plan that isn’t quite completed by the end of this story. That was just fine by me because that means that hopefully Ms. Marsh is planning a follow-up book that will allow us to revisit Brend, Mischka, Pell, Dathan and the rest of the Fallen to see if they find the redemption they were promised.

I liked Tria because even though she’s in a sticky situation, she only loses her pluck a few times and what woman can’t relate to that? Lots of people have to make do with what they have and that resonated with me. I found her resolve once she made her decision to move a tad fast, but that was the nature of the story and it works.

Luca is an interesting hero because he’s got his sights set on Tria even though he’s never really seen her. He subjects himself to lots of humiliation which tears his ego to pieces, but it’s because he’s doing it for the chance to be the man she loves. Talk about dedication! I liked his unwavering desire for her too. Once he set his mind to making her his, I rooted for him to get his wish.

The sex in this story sizzled, but I thought it went a bit quickly. I wanted to see more sensuality, but it still scorched my fingers.
