Even the dialogue each of the characters used showed the difference in their personalities. You also cannot help but feel sympathy for Dana. She thought she had problems when she was just a starving artist. I am sure that would have seemed like a cake walk had she known she would have two dragons claiming her father offered her as a sacrifice to them when she was a baby. She cannot help but be attracted to them, especially Aiden whom she had dreamed about for years. With another dragon that may be out to harm her and dragon hunters around every corner, a few past due bills are the least of her worries.

The thing that made this story unique was the fact that, although a stronger connection was obviously between Dana and Aiden it still did not stop her from lusting after Jace also. How could any female resist Jace’s flirtatious nature? I think this really demonstrated how love and lust is not a clear cut line. Another thing that intrigued me was the fact that Aiden felt possessive of Dana, but still allowed his brother to also seduce her since that was what was expected of them. It allowed you to see his dedication to the Drakoni even when he did not agree with them.

With so many conflicts, I could not wait to see how the author got the main characters out of the bind they found themselves in. At one point it really seemed like everyone was out to get them. The author did a great job with the ending of this story. With so many different plot lines some authors may have forgotten to complete one or not had a very good completion of a conflict. This was not the case with this story. I was equally satisfied with all of the conclusions, especially the one with the hidden antagonist/hunter.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed in the hope that author Jodi Redford will create a sequel for Jace. If she does, it will be on my must read list.

Sometimes, you’ll come across a story that has an amazing premise that you can’t wait to read. Such was the case for me with Interdependence. Dee Carney writes incredible characters, and I couldn’t wait to delve into this world in which light battles dark and a woman is the only salvation for two brothers who are doomed in her absence.

When we meet Laurel, she’s in a bad place in her life — emotionally and financially. So when she meets Elijah, who offers to buy her a hot meal, she eventually caves. His offer for a job follows shortly after and she finds herself driving to his home with his business card, unsure and uncertain. Shortly thereafter she meets Jonah, Elijah’s twin, and after being shown around and told her duties, she quickly settles in. What she isn’t aware of is the darkness that Jonah struggles against, a power so consuming that soon he will lose all control. Elijah has managed to work out what he believes is a plan to save his brother, which involves Laurel, but he’s not sure of the part she will play — or how to go about banishing the darkness using her presence. Together, they begin revealing more and more about each other and, in the process, unravel the mystery.

The beginning of this story got me hook, line, and sinker. I was curious about Laurel and these two men who continued to struggle against this mysterious force. All are complex and the way they open themselves to one another is timed extremely well, so that there is a necessary and believable amount of growth. While the bond Laurel, Elijah, and Jonah form is understandable, those deeper emotions they all proclaim to feel (including Laurel) seemed a trifle rushed as a result. There was also another element that I’m hesitant to reveal as it could be construed as spoiler, but suffice it to say that Laurel is a woman who deals with her inner torment and pain in a very dangerous and dark manner, yet, I felt that it was slightly out of place as it’s mentioned, used as a catalyst for possible tension (although it is used as a tool to bring two of the characters closer together, which is only fair to mention), but is forgotten by the story’s conclusion.

There are great things to be said about Interdependence, however. Ms. Carney has a very distinctive voice that I enjoy very much, and her ability to lure the reader into her worlds allows them to feel as if they are experiencing the story versus reading it. Her descriptions are vivid, and her dialogue is always witty (one memorable scene with Laurel, Jonah, and a sharp object, had me laughing aloud). The writing is spot-on, which is always important, and the pace doesn’t relent from start to finish, so there is no desire to put the story away and return to it later.

I enjoyed the emotional interactions between Elijah and Jonah, as well as those which occur as Elijah, Jonas, and Laurel create a tentative balance. There is a lot of heart here, especially as they face a future in which the fall of one brother will bring about the destruction of the other. As Elijah and Jonas continue fighting the good fight, you’ll cheer for them, cry for them, and when things take the downward turn you know has to happen, you’ll rally for them. That is always a fundamental part of an engaging and entertaining story, and Interdependence delivers.

Fans of unique paranormal erotic romance are sure to enjoy Interdependence. There is enough sizzle to keep you hot around the collar and enough mystery to keep you reading to find out what happens next. If you’re searching for a steamy ménage, this is just the ticket.

I like that fact that it wasn’t the perfect situation that brought them together. Instead it was a series of unfortunate events that really forged the relationship between this trio. This story definitely had its spicy moments as well as its sweet. I think this is especially true when dealing with the different men. You got to see more of Ayden’s spicy side since the relationship between him and Nicole was based on a physical relationship initially. With Trevor, they did not jump into bed immediately so they had a chance to fall in love with each other before experiencing the physical pleasures of their relationship.

By the time I finished this story I literally had to take a deep breath because I hadn’t realized I stopped breathing for a minute. If that is not a reason to give this story five cherries, I don’t know what is.

No, both men are plagued with despair, fear and helplessness. Yet, the emotional bond gives them strength and it proves to be their greatest weapon in their fight to escape captivity.

I’m glad I read it.

I was so wrong.

D’Akola’s story is just as interesting, perhaps more exciting even, than his brother’s and I enjoyed finding out what happened.

D’Akola is a man beset by a curse that forces him to be a man only at night and a beast by day. He’s been alone without friends or help for years. It’s amazing he retained his humanity. I felt rather sad for him because there seemed to be no hope. Even though he’s intimidating, he is hunted mercilessly. It’s his very injuries from an attack that present him with a life altering event and an opportunity never expected.

Suniko and Jayket were running for their lives and feared they’d never make it to safety when a reader meets them. In that short scene, a reader gets the sense of extreme danger, people fighting against improbable odds and the enduring power of the will to survive. In that there is also the drive to experience the joys of life whenever possible because in their world the end could come at any moment. The action stems from D’Akola being hunted and what happens when they fight back. There was an interesting revelation and a sweetness to it that was a delight to read. This story ends yet doesn’t, because a reader is left knowing that there is something more coming and I can only imagine how the dramatic conclusion will unfold. I get the impression of big goings-on and I can’t wait.

Dragon by Day is a fast gripping read which flowed well; the dialogue was brisk and true to character and the loving between the three was truly delicious. Of the three, I liked D’Akola the best because he suffered emotionally and physically making his getting a happy ever after a wonderful thing. He hit the jackpot with both Suniko and Jayket and as a reader, I felt I too won just by reading this book. If you haven’t read the previous book, that’s alright. This one does just fine by itself and I recommend reading it.

Cody, Knox and Jace are all hot and wonderful in their own way, but I would have to say that Jace with his sweetness and caring is my favorite brother. I liked seeing the bond that the brothers have be put to the test and see that it stands up, showing that their family bond is a strong one.

Some of the secondary characters like Cindy and Tony caught my eye as well while reading this story, and I would enjoy finding out more about their relationship. If you enjoy an intense erotic read than this may be the book for you.

Jia-Nian is the heroine, tiny in stature compared to the guys but big on determination, bravado and sheer stubbornness. Once she gets introduced to the sensual side of her nature, she more than matches the guys in her thirst for some seriously hot-and-bothered loving. She has the ability to stand by her men in a sword fight as well as introduce them to a very unique Strathulian massage technique that men in real life would be all agog over. Like a foreign film with subtitles. Other than that, I enjoyed the story, the characters and their tribulations.

There’s a mystical quality that gets introduced as well. I can’t stand books that refer to magical deities who never seem to care about those that worship them. The ones in this story care and I was pretty happy about that. But it got me to wondering too. Later in the story, some information is divulged about the planet’s history. It makes me wonder exactly who or what these deities could be and how they can do what they do. What does Ms. Dobbs have up her writer’s sleeve?

Last Strathulian Standing is an entertaining story of boys meet girl, they fight some bad guys, they discover the joys of carnal exploration and find out that destiny won’t be denied. Yes, there are some gruesome scenes and some bloodshed, but that’s all part of a warrior’s life. It’s the finding of love amongst the gore and mud and watching it blossom and grow that makes this romantic tale work. I’d recommend this story for readers who enjoy sensual spice along with their swordplay. It delivers.

I did like the characters who were well-defined and interesting. Kylie is the younger sister, wanting to prove her worth, trying to live up to her sister’s accomplishments. She doesn’t realize her own worth, and feels that she will always be in the shadow of her warrior sister. Dalton is the strong, smart aleck human cop, handsome and sexy and attracted to Kylie. This story had promise, but I was not sure where it was headed at times. The sex was hot and heavy, but there seemed to be less emphasis on finding the woman than on how many times they could make Kylie orgasm. Then, near the end of this, a new element was added with little warning. A new enemy is introduced and is also seeking the same woman, so the story becomes a different one altogether.

I really did enjoy these characters and so can only hope that this story continues, as this installment ends without a real resolution to the search, although Kylie, Dalton and Olav do resolve their issues and form a trio to continue the search. I would say that these need to be read in order to thoroughly enjoy the story and grasp the full idea behind it.
