This story was a terrific one, with an interesting take on witches and their familiars, and I loved that Ms. Redford gave the witches a governing body, with rules and laws and penalties. If this book is any indication, this world of Southern magic and witchcraft should provide more stories of magic and mystery in the future. I certainly hope it happens soon, as I would love to read more about these characters.

Chris immediately becomes the villain of this story since he’s supposed to be protecting and caring for Emily, not abusing her. Although Chris’ character doesn’t interact a lot with the others, his scenes are intense and emotionally challenging for the reader to witness. I think that it was clear from page one to the end how much Thomas/Lord Fyre and Celia/Kitten cared for one another. The way that Kitten’s needs depended on him so much for emotional support made their relationship believable, which is part of the reason that she fell apart when his brother, Nikos, showed up causing Thomas to step away for a while. Leaving Thomas to war between the love for his past life and his brother and his future with Kitten and Garrett/Master.

The relationship I did not understand was the relationship between Garret and Kitten. If Thomas was not around they could not seem to get along in the least bit. The story mentions how they had been together prior to Thomas entering the relationship, but to be honest I don’t see how they did it without him. Thomas really seemed like the glue that held the ménage together.

Individually I liked the characters, but together they lacked certain chemistry at times. Thomas/Lord Fyre seemed to have so much on his plate and so many commitments he couldn’t possibly handle everything. It was clear that he loved both Garrett and Kitten, but he just did not have the time to dedicate to the relationship. Garrett, although a Dom, could not seem to dominate Kitten – that was a major part of the problem in their relationship, yet he seemed to be a great dom when it came to his responsibilities at the club. Kitten, although a submissive 100-percent when it came to Thomas, seemed to have no respect when it came to Garrett. She and Garret definitely seemed more like equals and not a dom/sub relationship. But since I did not previously read any of the other stories I just saw the problems and not so much the happiness between these two characters. So I suggest readers to read the first story in this series prior to this one since it is obvious when reading this story this series is meant to be read in succession and not as individual stories.

One thing I did really enjoy about this story was Thomas and Nikos’ relationship. As identical twins they really had that twin connection. Even if they hadn’t seen each other for a while they were willing to do anything for the other. This was evident in the way that Thomas dropped everything to take care of his brother. Nikos was definitely a character someone would want to see more of.

The external conflicts in this story really added excitement. Thomas was trying to hide his brother Nikos from the people who attempted to kill him and Nikos has attracted some less than desired individuals. Garrett also struggled with the changes within his and Kitten’s relationship and did not cope with them in the best manner. These conflicts allowed me to see just how difficult the relationship between the characters really was and how much they had to fight for what they have and want. Especially Thomas – he tried to protect so many people, without them even realizing how much he did.

This is one of the few true BDSM stories I have read. The “play” really took precedence in this story even over the sex which I found fascinating. It definitely gave me a better insight on what a BSDM relationship can be. So if you are a true BDSM lover this would be a good series to look into.

While Jack may have been my favorite character it does not mean that the other characters weren’t intriguing. The conflicts in this story are epic. The reason Jack and Shere find their way together is because they are both investigating the same man. Seems the US and the UK both want to get a piece of Mickey, our antagonist. As if this conflict isn’t enough a previous lover/partner of Shere’s shows up. With various twist and turns the conflict will keep you wanting more until the very end.

So let’s to down the check list: Great characters? Check.  Exciting plot? Check. A must read story? Double check.

A romance with psychic werewolves is a unique and entertaining idea that makes this story worth investigating.

Shane and Thomas are twins who have a unique gift but it only seems to manifest when something of a great and far reaching effect is about to happen. Because they were right when it counted most, their latest vision is taken seriously but this time, they are given the task of seeing it through. Right away I got the impression that they are young men, relatively speaking, and they’re not spotlight seekers but are content to remain in the background and follow their business instincts instead of their wolf instincts. The two brothers get along very well and are very much two peas in a pod. I bet that Shane is the older one by minutes because he has a slightly more dominant personality. He’s also the one with the most emotional depth. He’s suffered a broken heart before so his character is a bit more fleshed out. Thomas is the quieter one but he also knows his own mind and isn’t afraid to take a leap of faith when it’s asked of him. They are a good balance in personalities. But when they are both in wolf form, they are formidable.

Cheryl is the hapless human who narrowly escapes with her life from a demented werewolf. She too is recovering emotionally but hers is from an abusive relationship. Now she has to add a life and body changing event to her plate and I think her cup runneth over. For being so traumatized I think Cheryl handled the news extremely well. It might have had something to do with her going into heat but the author actually had Shane and Thomas giving her the space she needed and the information she should have so she could make her own choice. I think that made it more realistic and made me like them and believe it would work with all of them as partners. I liked the premise of the story and the idea of werewolves guarding the human race. The reason this book isn’t rated higher is because of a couple of things. The story style had a lot of passive telling and there’s one part where it was raining but the next scene the moon was out. I noticed a few punctuation issues but those are negligible next to the big moon/rain scene. It’s sort of a letdown for me because this story idea had so much potential to be extra exciting that I was thrilled to read it. Even with all that being said, I still enjoyed myself and I liked the characters especially when Cheryl, Thomas and Shane finally do get physical. Ms. Frost hits her stride nicely when it comes to writing ménage scenes that work. I had a good time reading those too.

The external conflict was light but definitely memorable and brought a nice bit of tension and suspense to the story. I wonder what the bad guy’s background was and how he played into the bigger picture that was alluded to in the book. The head guy has his own theory but I am not convinced he’s right. There’s a loose end dangling and this book just whetted my appetite.

It Begins with a Rogue’s Bite is an engaging and different perspective on the relationship between humans and werewolves. Ms. Frost has Shane, Cheryl and Thomas create sensual magic that should please and satisfy erotic romance readers while creating a unique paranormal world with an interesting and titillating problem that entices a reader to beg for more. I was also satisfied with the happily ever after and I thought the lead in was hot and the delivery sweet. But I still want to know about the nefarious plot the rogues have and what possible future roles all three of the main characters in this story might play so I’d say the author did a nice job of hooking me. I had a good time reading this tale and would read more books by Ms. Frost.
