“Is there a Dom you’re interested in?” Andi asked.

“No.” She’d seen them all, and no one spoke to her soul.

“Justin’s off limits. What about Delana?” Andi half-shrugged. “Maybe she’s who you want.”

“I want a male Dom. Delana’s great, but she’s hunting for a hunk, too.” Mary swept her gaze over the crowd. She knew everyone there, but one man caught her attention. Sebastian Paul. She gasped. She knew Sebastian. Too well. What was he doing at the club? He’d never struck her as being interested in the lifestyle, much less a Dom.

“What?” Andi nudged Mary. “Who do you see?”

“A guy from work.” She sank onto the nearest stool. Would Sebastian care if he knew her? Would he out her? They worked together. He wouldn’t want to out her … right? He’d risk outing himself.

“Oh, Master Seb.” Andi nodded. “He and Sir are friends. I guess he started coming back to the club last month. You know him?”

“Not as a Master.” He worked in the area next to hers at the air traffic control center. They shared working hours one day a week. When their breaks aligned, they talked about life, music, and whatever else they thought of. She liked him and looked forward to their Thursdays together.

“Well, he’s friends with Sir. Maybe I can set up a meeting. We can all play or hang out.” Andi grasped Mary’s hand. “Come on.”

“Andi.” She didn’t mean to be pushy or expect special treatment. They were at the club, and she didn’t deserve to be ballsy. She could be forthright, and Doms didn’t want subs to top from the bottom. They wanted bratty subs. She wasn’t bratty. She also wasn’t sure she wanted to submit to Sebastian. She didn’t want to ruin the friendship.

“Just come with me.”

One touch from his lover and this marble will come to life.

Kratos, God of power and strength, has been imprisoned in pure white marble for more than two centuries. His lover can break the spell—if only his lover would find him.

Andy Green knows his ancient artifacts. He spends his days restoring works of art. When the sculpture of Kratos enters his studio, he can’t hide his attraction. Will he be able to free the god or will forces beyond his control destroy everything he’s earned?

“Do you have some … clothing?” Kratos waved his hand in front of Andy. “Something like you have?”

“I’ve got a change of clothes in my car. I don’t know if they’ll fit you, but anything is better than running around nude.”

“Nude can be freeing.” If he had his way, he’d strip the odd clothing from Andy’s body and learn every bit of him.

“Freeing, but it can get you arrested. Public nudity is against the law on campus.” Andy grinned. “Give me a minute or two. My car’s in the back lot.”

“Car?”

“Ah—it’s like a chariot, but without the horses.”

“Interesting.” He had so much to learn. He’d been able to observe some things, but not enough to venture out on his own. Andy would be invaluable, and not just as a guide.

Andy picked up keys. “Stay here. I’ll be right back.” He hurried out of the room, leaving Kratos to his thoughts.

Kratos glanced around the room. The human race evolved so well. Tall windows opened the view to the other rooms in the building. A couple of other statues waited in the room. They weren’t the vessels for imprisoned deities. He touched the face of the female statue. He remembered seeing the work back in Athens. Praxiteles carved Aphrodite well and captured the very essence of her faint smile. He’d been vanguard to sculpt her without clothing. Then again, Aphrodite preferred to spend her time in the nude—usually with one of her many suitors.

He sighed and folded his arms. He missed the other gods and goddesses. What he didn’t miss was the water and the ship. The man who’d rescued him from the depths of the sea didn’t please him and couldn’t free him from the marble. He shuddered at the memory of the man’s hands on his body. Rough touches, fondling his ass while the man grunted and rubbed his own dick on Kratos’s thigh. His stomach churned. Was the rescuer the man who sent him? Couldn’t be. That man had to be dead by now. Then who was his owner? He wanted to think about better things—like Andy. He closed his eyes. A vision of Andy’s bright-blue eyes formed in Kratos’s mind. He could listen to Andy’s voice and moan into his touch.

“You’ve broken the curse.”

Opposites can attract, but can they make the love last?

Dillon came to the Sanctuary to hide, but also to heal. He’d been abused and needed a safe place to come into his own. He never expected to find a partner, but love came looking for him. Can he accept what he deserves or will he push away a chance at forever because he feels unlovable?

Cinders knows from the moment he sees Dillon that he wants the wolf shifter for his own. But can a jaguar shifter and a wolf shifter really pair up? He doesn’t know, but he’s banking on the attraction to pay off. What he doesn’t expect is how deep Dillon’s scars run. Is he strong enough to see beyond what’s happened to Dillon and help create a future for them together?

Anything’s possible when the jaguar shifter, a former stripper, and the wolf shifter figure out how to restore his howl.

“You can talk. Well, all right. That’s amazing. I thought you could, but since you don’t, I wondered. You’ve got a nice voice,” Cinders said. He grinned, his bright teeth standing out against his mocha skin. “You’re cute, too.”

Dillon longed to taste Cinders’ mouth and kiss him. Would it feel like heaven?

“So we’re supposed to be at a party tomorrow. I’ve got some costumes. Most of it is tear-away stuff, but it’ll work for one night. You’re welcome to try on anything I’ve got and find something that fits. I’ve got dibs on the naughty cop, though.” He laughed. The throaty sound echoed in the room. “Want to?”

Dillon almost asked what Cinders meant but nodded instead.

“What? I got one word out of you, and now, you won’t talk to me?” Cinders frowned. “If you’re going to use my clothes, you’ve got to speak to me.”

The wolf stood up within Dillon and watched Cinders. The animal tensed.

For a split-second, Dillon had thought Cinders meant he’d make Dillon fuck him for the clothes. He fought the urge to shake his head. Fucking to get things was part of his old life. He had a new one here at the Sanctuary.

Cinders smiled, and his shoulders slumped. “I’m sorry.”

“Why?” Dillon managed. Despite his best attempts, he couldn’t get out any other words. He spent most of his time tongue-tied, but around Cinders, something different happened. His wolf took notice, which was unusual. The wolf distrusted more individuals than his human side did. If the wolf cared to pay Cinders attention, then that meant something, right? He needed to keep an eye on the panther shifter.

“I’m being pushy,” Cinders said. “Ryan will tell you I’m good at pushy. Quiet? Not a chance. Look, you don’t have to talk. I can do that for both of us.” He waved to his end of the corridor. “Come over when you’re ready, and pick out a costume. The jaguar and I won’t bite. Promise.”

Dillon nodded. The first step to healing had to be getting out of his comfort zone. Going with Cinders was a leap. God help him, he really wanted to leap.

“It’s Valentine’s Day. What’s on your docket?”

“I’m not sure. Aydin said something about a plan and celebration. I’m the lousy boyfriend this time. I hadn’t gotten him anything and was going to on the way home.” The tips of his ears burned. “I was so worried about the review, I kind of forgot it was Valentine’s Day.”

“You forgot?” she blurted.

“I did.” He walked beside her. “I was going to get him flowers.”

“Flowers?” She stopped in her tracks. “Are you serious?”

“He likes them.”

“Not chocolates?”

“He doesn’t like them. I thought he did, but he just ate the ones I got him for Christmas because he didn’t want them to go to waste.” When she started walking again, he fell into step beside her. “I know what he likes—now.”

“Flowers, eh?” She laughed. “And what else? Some hey-hey?” She elbowed him. “Right?”

He wasn’t about to tell her the other gift would be a blow job.

“Well, good.” She stopped at the classroom door. “I hope you have a good night.” She poked her head into the classroom. “Bye, Aydin. Have a wicked hot night.”

“That’s the plan.” Aydin left his spot on the desk and picked up the portfolio. “Ready?”

Heat slid through Brandon’s body. He couldn’t wait to get home. He’d strip Aydin down and taste every inch of him. “Yeah.”

“Good. Let’s go. I drove, so we can blow this popsicle stand.” Aydin carried the case out of the room. “Goodnight, Georgie. Do you need us to walk you out?”

“Nah, I’m meeting my friend Durand upstairs.” She waved. “Night! Do all the things I can’t do but want to watch.”

“We will,” Aydin called.

Brandon stood rooted to the spot for a second. Do all the things I can’t do but want to watch…holy shit. And Aydin hadn’t batted an eye. Damn. Excitement radiated through Brandon. He had the guy, the grade, and good friends. Now, he’d have a hot Valentine’s Day. Sweet, indeed.

“There’s a bookstore and it has a coffee shop. I go there. I spend a lot of time with Molly because she’s alone at the B&B. Her last boyfriend was a real peach and when he left, he screwed her over. Stole her money, wrecked her car…so she’s kind of touchy.” He stretched his legs. “Otherwise I do my own thing. I spend a lot of time at the library and working with the ladies group who helps the library.”

“No boyfriend?”

Isn’t he full of questions again? “No.”

“Me either.” Tristan blew out a long breath. “Why don’t we go down to the diner? I’m starving and…why not?”

“Sure.” He eyeballed Tristan. The guy wasn’t asking him to come home with him. Just a meal together. Why did this feel like more? Because he wanted more? Christ, he hadn’t gone out with anyone since Barry and even then, the connection wasn’t strong. He stood and stretched, then settled next to Tristan. He could be crazy, but he’d like to find out more about Tristan.

Tristan remained beside Michael as they walked to the diner. He could get used to being with Michael. He’d only been in town for twenty-four hours and he couldn’t fathom not having Michael in his life. As friends? Absolutely. As lovers? If he had his way, then yes.

Christmas Movies!! With @MeganSlayer #movies #christmas #writing
I love this time of year. The shows on television, the songs in the store…but mostly the movies. I’m a sucker for the sappy movies on certain channels. I can’t get enough. Why? I know I’ll get a happy ending each time I watch. Okay, so I know some will be a tad on the cheesy side, but I don’t mind. I love watching. I write while the movies play and it gets me in the mood for the season.

So what are my top five favorite Christmas movies? Now these are my favorites. I’m sure your list will be different, but maybe there’s one or two you might like or haven’t seen.

5. Arthur Christmas – I love the original take on Santa and his family. The story involves a family of Santas who pass down the role of SANTA through the years. It’s new, fresh and with Arthur being voiced by James McAvoy (le sigh), I can’t go wrong.

4. A Muppet Christmas – this isn’t a widely known Christmas film, but it’s about the Muppets going to Fozzie’s mother’s house for the holidays. The Muppets, the Sesame Street Gang, plus the Fraggles are involved. It’s the best and I could watch them fall on the icy patch for hours.

3. Nightmare Before Christmas – I love the oddity of this movie and the music is awesome. I’ll watch this one from Halloween straight through to Christmas. Why not? It covers both holidays. Plus, I love Jack Skellington and Sally.

2. National Lampoons’s Christmas Vacation – I don’t know about you, but I can identify with so many parts of this movie – the dog crashing the dinner, the dog drinking the tree water, the cat and the Christmas lights, the family disagreeing on everything, the shouting, arguing, intrusiveness…the list goes on and on. It makes me feel better about my family Christmases not being perfect and reminds me to laugh. Above all…laugh.

1. Miracle on 34th Street – the black and white version with Natalie Wood. I have to specify because some liked the remake and others like the colorized version. I’m a purist. I want the original without the fixings. John Payne makes a great lawyer and crusader for the downtrodden. Edmund Gwenn might as well BE Santa and the magic in Natalie Wood’s eyes is palpable. This movie snags me every time.

So I ask you…which one from my list is your favorite? Which one is you favorite that I didn’t include? I’d love to know. I’m always open to new Christmas movies.

Two men, one kid, and the frayed nerves that come with the holidays… Can they make it through to Christmas without a blow-up?

Colt Harrison knew when he met Ashley Willis that he’d found the one man for him. He loves Ashley’s son, Wyatt, as if he were his own. But the stress of living together, compounded with buying a home and adopting pets, has worn him down…not to mention the aggravation that comes with the diner he owns. He wants to make Christmas special for his family, but how can they have a great holiday when Colt’s never home?
So if your body is reflecting any tendencies like skin infection, kidney infections, illness of bladder, prostate dysfunction, bronchitis or pneumonia etc, then you should start your diagnosis with the help of Generic overnight shipping cialis Levaquin, a capable anti-biotic solution that has been developed to treat the sicknesses that may corrupt your body due to bacterial movements. Ashley’s got a two-week vacation from his job at the elementary school teaching art. All he wants is time with Colt and Wyatt. He loves Colt, but not the long hours spent at the diner, especially around the holidays. Can he be honest about what he wants from Colt and keep the man he loves?

Anything is possible if they embrace the magic of Christmas.

Bonus story included!

Biting Love and Halloween Fun with @MeganSlayer

I love writing vampire stories and the season of Halloween. I’m not fond of gore and blood. I faint at the sight of my own blood. I know…it’s not fun. And I love to write vampires?

By Book Illustrator Charles F. Lester (The Project Gutenberg Etext.) [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons

Don’t they drink blood and aren’t they a tad gory? They can be. I love the mean, scary vampires. Nosferatu and Dracula are favorites. I’m not wild about pretty vampires. Now let me clarify this. I want vampires that are alluring. The kind that draw you in only to bite the crap out of you. The ones who look sexy, but are scary as heck and will kill you. Those are my kind.

One thing I’ve struggled with when writing my vampires is the alluring factor. You might ask why or you may see the conundrum. I write romance. How can a vampire be romantic and still want to rip out your throat? Isn’t that an odd pairing? It is. Here’s the thing: vampires have to be alluring. They’re the undead. If you saw someone strolling up to you who has half of his face falling off and smells like death…you might not want to offer your blood up to him. He’s essentially a zombie. The walking dead. This is one of the genesis stories for vampires – they’re really zombies who don’t eat brains, but rather drink the life blood from living beings. Okay, so zombies on the whole might not be terribly sexy. So what’s a vampire to do to be alluring? Be sexy. That’s why vampires got the Dracula, handsome, but deranged count overlay. He’s handsome. His minions are pretty. Or her minions. One might be more attracted to a guy with money, nice clothes and something that draws you to him.

So that’s how I want to write my vampires. They can kill you, but they’re still handsome and sexy. They’re still something attractive, but they can turn on a dime.

When I wrote Biting Love, I wanted Anson, my vampire, to be attractive. He’s got to win the trust of Parker. How can he do that if he opens with the line, I can and will kill you? Um, probably won’t work. Grin. So  he has to be charming. Has to be protective. I loved writing Anson and Parker because they’re very opposite, too. Anson is dark, kind of scary and sexy. Parker is a geeky kind of guy. They might not have run in the same circles to begin with, but once they find each other…it’s a whole new thing.

Part of the fun of writing Biting Love has been my getting to work with my dear friend, Madison Sevier, again. We wrote in her Rosie Peaks series earlier in the year when we wrote Faeries After Dark together. Biting Love is the next in the crossover world. Her book, Out Foxxe’d features her characters after Faeries. She went with a shifter and I have vampires. Hehe. And there will be more books in the crossover world. Vampires are like potato chips. I can’t have just one.

Vampires

Contemporary, Paranormal

Mix one vampire with one human who doesn’t believe in the paranormal and add some sizzle.

Anson wasn’t looking for a partner when he spotted the handsome human, but he’s not about to argue when the mood strikes. He’s got to bring a date to the Halloween bash and Parker fits his bill exactly. Now all he needs to do is convince Parker that vampires truly exist.

Parker is practical, intelligent and a little on the geeky side. He can’t believe his eyes—a handsome man has not only hit on him, but asked him out…to a masquerade ball. He doesn’t believe in vampires, but Anson wears his Dracula costume a bit too well.

Can these two find love and trust after all or will the sparks only last until the dawn?

“Okay, then where’s your boyfriend?”

“Don’t have one.” Not since Seth dumped him a year ago. Seth wanted to sleep around and Parker wanted monogamy. According to Seth, gay men couldn’t be monogamous. The asshole. Parker tried to get him back, but Seth never called him again.

“You should.” Anson grasped Parker’s hand. “But it makes this so much easier.”

“Me? I? What?” Oh Jesus, he had to stop talking. He made no sense and he could’ve sworn Anson wanted to kiss him.

“It’s rather difficult to ask someone out if they’ve already got a date or boyfriend.” Anson scooted he chair around the table until he sat next to Parker. “Right?”

“You’re asking me out?” He must’ve heard Anson wrong and understood the wrong vibes. “Really?”

“Of course…unless you don’t want to.” Anson trailed his fingers down the back of Parker’s neck. His eyes shimmered. “Not interested?”

“I…yes.” Christ. Start going for what you want, Parker. “I’d like a date. Yes. But I need some time. I mean—not tonight.” Shit. He was fucking up the plan. “I mean…”

“I’m pretty free. What works for you?”

“Uh…I need to get this paper down. But I’ve got time around lunch tomorrow. If I can get this turned in before tomorrow night, I’ll be free for Halloween. Would lunch work? Then if you don’t like me, we’re not committed to a night date?” He’d just talked himself out of a date. Shit.

“No good. I’m…in a class at lunch.” Anson draped his arm across the back of Parker’s chair. “I’m better at night.”

“Oh.” Anson didn’t strike him as a college student. “Which class? I could meet you at your building afterward.”

“Uh…it’s off campus at the sculpture building at the old farm.” Anson nodded. “You know, all of those power tools and bending machines. They can’t have it too close to campus in case one of the artists does something crazy.”

“I doubt that.” He turned in his seat to face Anson. “The worst you could do is burn down the building, but why? Performance art? Nah. You’re all careful. It’s a reason to be out there.” He wanted to touch Anson and prove to himself the man was real. He rested his forearms on his thighs instead. “I’ve never been to the arts building out there, so I wouldn’t know too much about it.”

“Oh? Why not?”

“No wheels.” Embarrassment washed over him. If his dorky personality wasn’t enough to push Anson away, his lack of a car would be the topper. “I had to sell my car to make my tuition payment. My job at the front desk at the student housing complex was cut.”

“That’s awful.” Anson didn’t pull away. He kept caressing Parker’s biceps.

“Unless I can find a sugar daddy or get some cash flowing from my writing, I’ll have to get a part time job over at the burger joint across from the student center. It’s not a bad job, but I’d rather be writing.” He smiled to hide how he felt—embarrassed, dejected, screwed over. He had to get more positivity into his life, but damn it. Life kept throwing him curveballs.

“You never told me what you write.” Anson wriggled his eyebrows. “Anything juicy?”

“No.” Here he wanted to be a writer and he hadn’t self-promoted. Bad Parker. “Science fiction with a little paranormal mixed in. It really depends on the day and my mood. I’ve got one about aliens invading the earth and this one is more paranormal.”

“Really?” Anson smiled.

Parker couldn’t read his expression. “You don’t like it? Too out there for you?”

“No, I’m fascinated.”

“You are?”

INTERVIEW: MEGAN SLAYER

Photobucket

Long and Short Reviews welcomes Megan Slayer, the LBGTQ alter-ego of erotic romance author Wendi Zwaduk. Her latest book, Fallen, is about a fallen angel.

“She’s not your average kick-butt angel. She’s actually pretty meek. She’s wandered the earth looking for her use in the world. Being a fallen angel, she doesn’t even have her wings. Writing about her wings and how she gets them back was a lot of fun. I got to do a bunch of research. Want to kill a demon? Lop his/her head off. Yep. I learned that in my research. Who knew?”

She currently working on the next in her Glow series.

“Glow? Sounds like a strange title for a series, you might be saying to yourself. You’d be right. But the punk band in the series calls themselves Glow. I’ve been able to write each band member’s story and I’m in the midst of writing Slash and Hiram’s love story. As much as I’ve loved writing their stories, I’ll be sad when the series ends,” she said. “It’s my first ever series and I love the characters.”

Wendi wanted to write LBGTQ stories and, even though her mother doesn’t care, Wendi was afraid her dad would drop dead. So, she decided to write them under a pseudonym: Megan Slayer. Megan is actually her middle name—and Slayer?

“Well, I managed to fry three computers in the space of a very short time. My best friend informed me that I was the slayer of computers. The name sort of stuck. Megan needed a last name and Slayer was it,” she explained.

“Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?” I wondered. “If so, what do you do about it?”

She snorted. “Okay, I’ll answer this completely honestly. I listen to music to get me into the mood. Why? The parts where I tend to get writer’s block is when the characters want to get frisky. I have to be in the mood to write it and to do that? I use music. And I look at pictures that will inspire me. You know what I mean,” she said with a nod and a wink.

Most of her titles are song titles. She doesn’t deliberatel set out to write a story based on a song, but there have been a lot of songs that she’s thought Hey, that would be a great story.

“I usually get my titles in the middle of the book; however, by the time I’d gotten to the end of Fallen I still didn’t have a title. Livia, the angel, snorted. ‘Um, Fallen?” I thought, duh. And it was even funnier because I’d had the Sarah McLachlan song of the same title going through my head at the same time. Poof! Title.”

She has to have noise going on when she writes—otherwise she won’t get anything accomplished. She will usually have the television on (even if she doesn’t have an idea what’s playing) or itunes running on her laptop. And, with the laptop, her writing space is wherever she happens to be: the RV, the living room, the front porch on the swing.

“One of my favorite places to write is standing at the kitchen counter. Why? I can write in between loads of laundry, jotting down little notes, keeping pets from being themselves on my floor and watch the TV if I need another distraction,” she said, then added, “I didn’t say I got a lot of writing done, just that’s where I like to write.”

“What is your strangest habit?” I asked.

“Depends on who you talk to. I don’t think my habits are strange, but some might. I capitalize some of the letters when I write letters and lists. I have to alphabetize my CDs and make lists in my itunes according to what I’m writing at the time. Maybe those are strange. Who knows?”

“How do you personally distinguish between pornography, erotica, and erotic romance?” I wondered.

“Porn is sex for the sake of sex. Can be any grouping with any type of toy or furniture. Erotica is the sexual journey of the character. Erotic romance is a story with a heavy dose of romance involved. The characters are sexual individuals and the story holds up without the sex, but the sex certainly enhances the tale.”

She told me that there are too many writers who write excellent erotic fiction to count, but there are a few she really enjoys.

“KA Mitchell writes fantastic characters that are so plain, they are exciting. Brannan Black writes paranormal stories I can’t put down. If I see a Mychael Black story on the coming soon page, I’m liable to snap it up. Always feel like I’m in a new world when I read his work.”

Mitchell is her all time favorite because even though the characters are ordinary, Mitchell writes in a fashion that makes Megan remember them long after the book closes. Her favorite book is Regularly Scheduled Life by the same author.

“I was a teacher for a while and the scenarios in the book are very real,” she explained. “The emotions are even more vibrant and I wanted to know more about them after the book closed. I wanted to know about them in the next book that wasn’t even about them.”

“What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever done in the name of research?” I asked.

She laughed. “I don’t know if it’s weird, but I’ve gone to strip clubs in the name of research. And toy shopped. I also found out it’s possible to make a dirty book/toy store worker blush when you tell them you’re buying items in the name of research.”

Finally, I asked, “What are you passionate about these days?”

“Making sure that what we teach our kids is the same things we practice. If we want our kids to not cut in line, we shouldn’t be shoving through the store to get what we want. If we want our kids to respect our elders, then we should show those same elders respect. Kids model what we do. How are they going to model this if we aren’t modeling what we tell them to do? I’m also passionate about the right to marry whoever you want to marry. Elliot Garfield in The Goodbye Girl said it best: ‘I will bring home anyone or anything that I choose, including a one-eyed Episcopalian kangaroo if that happens to be my kinky inclination.’ Let people be themselves. Sheesh.”
