A simple promise to protect her friend’s infant son has turned Allie Chambers’ existence upside down. Caring for—and feeding—an orphaned vampire baby has been tricky enough. But as little Liam grows, so does his appetite. He needs more blood than she can personally supply. And when her attempts to steal from a blood bank go awry, Allie wakes up surrounded by doctors, cops…and the gorgeous, mesmerizing Magnus, who she can neither trust nor resist.

Magnus never expected to find his life mate breaking into a blood bank. Clearly, Allie is already entwined with his world—in deeper, more dangerous ways than she realizes. A band of vicious rogue immortals is in pursuit, and Magnus’ first task is to keep her safe. His second: to awaken her to mind-blowing pleasure, and hope she’ll accept the life, and the passion, that only he can offer.

But of cost levitra lowest all the cases, the major case of ED problem in men and highly-admired by majority of medical professionals due to its effective result in improving Erection problems. Though Kamagra takes care of your sexual problems, it cannot replace drugs like buy cheap cialis http://downtownsault.org/soo-lock-boat-tours/ or Silagra online but will certainly benefit from the all-natural advantages that these pills provide. This is a romance after my own heart. The cast of characters is delightful, the placement of their physical love is perfect and I adore the relationship between Magnus and Allie. They’re so cute together. There’s not one thing I don’t like. Okay, I don’t like the bad guys but I’m not supposed to. In fact, the bad-guy plot is shockingly twisted.

I enjoyed how the author used a circular story pattern in the beginning to show how Allie and Liam came to be together and why the heroine was so afraid and distrustful when Magnus first came on stage. Later on I discovered the tragic and sadly wasteful truth. What I mean is that the “if only” from 20/20 hindsight about Stella made Allie’s reality more intense, sad and emotionally poignant. And, it justified what Allie eventually did at the action packed climax, making it all the more satisfying because it brought closure. I didn’t expect that in the aftermath of such a serious battle, Ms. Sands could make me laugh, but she did. When Magnus and Tybo discovered how Allie’s dramatic action went down, their reaction was priceless. What Magnus then said about Allie was absolutely wonderful. It was a happy ‘aww’ moment and sealed my opinion that he’s a swoon-worthy hero.

Also included in Immortal Born is the funniest scene I have ever had the pleasure of reading in this series. It involves Allie and Magnus consummating their passion for the first time as lifemates and it does not proceed like everyone likely expected, myself included. I can cheekily say that the hero is up to the challenge.

Another comical technique I enjoy reading about comes from the main characters being new lifemates. It’s practically impossible to prevent other immortals from reading their thoughts. Sure, it can come in handy in navigating tricky plot points but it’s also a perfect medium for causing embarrassment, giggles and many a grin. Ms. Sands uses it to good effect.

My absolute favorite aspect of this story is how it was written. Yes, it’s a wonderful romance but it’s the way I like them to be and rarely found. Lifemate sex was delayed. Magnus knew the reasons were practical but that didn’t stop him from being frustrated, impatient and tempted. Oh boy was he tempted, but the hero was determined to be honorable even if it killed him. Because of his determination to do the right thing, I respected the heck out of his character. A man like Magus is perfect husband material and I’d marry him myself if I could.

I could talk about how wonderful and adorable I thought Liam’s character was, how happy the happy ever after epilogue is, or about the great dialogue and supporting secondary characters woven throughout the novel, but I won’t. I will wrap this up by saying that Immortal Born is my new favorite romance in the series and that any fan who hasn’t bought the book yet needs to so they can add it to the rest of their Argeneau family keepers. It’s a great read.

When these ties are made throughout the book, the result is delightful. Having love stories decorated with the theme of seasons is a winner as well and is pulled off convincingly. The seasonal details mixed into the stories are perfect and add not only to the setting but the storylines as well.

In Spring’s Promise, young Felicia’s love disappointed her and proposed to another. How will her parents help her with this broken heart? There’s a mystery as to why Jeremy did this to her. Her reaction will make all the difference.

The language is flowery and helps to set the mood of the era. An interesting character comes onto the scene, and suspense is created. The innocent Felicia sees a piece of reality to open her eyes. She meets a man who makes her see the world differently and he her. The ending is charming.

Summer’s Fruit introduces us to Adela and Euan. He comes back from war with a new title and his new very pregnant wife. His reaction to her size hurts her, and their troubles begin. The internal conflicts experienced by both tug a reader into their personal pain. Unfortunately, they have a misunderstanding that builds to epic levels. The author does well showing their feelings. Too bad the couple didn’t speak honestly earlier though. This story is about learning to love again (the same person). Because it’s nicely tied into the first story, it gives the reader a great glance into the lives of the earlier couple.

In Autumn Leaves readers get a peek into the lives of Bronwen and Miss Mayhew, governesses. Bronwen reads a fairytale to the children under her care that holds parallels to what is happening in her life. She has an old friend from her past, the handsome Nick, that she runs into in the park. There are dashes of humor that inspire smiles. Nick is now living in a different world then Bronwen. Should she dare hope anyway? And what about Miss Mayhew? The author does some clever maneuvering to give these ladies their happy endings.

Snow Broth is the winter story of Marjorie, who makes new friends in an interesting and unexpected way. She falls for one in the group then discovers he’s engaged to another of her new friends. She is a young lady with old-fashioned morals, from the country, and is intrigued with her city friends, until they do something to offend her sense of right and wrong. Marjorie, due to her morality, fights her feelings for Beau, a promised man. The ending of this tale offers a surprise, and the tender emotions are written by the hand of an expert.

A Love for All Seasons is a great way to tie up the loose ends while adding new insights into the love of an established couple. There is a wonderful tie-in to the other stories and characters in this last story, and readers get treated to another point-of-view, seeing incidents they saw before but through another’s eyes. All in all, this is a novel well worth the read, a fun and fast-paced book.

There’s no resisting a desire like this…

MMA fighter Miles Dartman’s casual arrangement with personal shopper Maxi Nevar would be many men’s fantasy. She seeks him out, they have mindblowing sex, she leaves. Rinse, repeat. Yet lately, Miles wants more. And when Maxi requests his services via the Body Armor security agency, he’s ready to finally break through her defenses—and protect her day and night.

Her ex has resurfaced, along with lots of former “friends,” and someone is making mysterious threats. Then there’s Miles, who doesn’t ask for anything…except her trust. Pleasure is easy. Now Maxi has to give her heart as well as her body…or risk losing a man who could be everything she needs.

I have some catching up to do because I enjoyed Close Contact so much, I have to go and find the first two books in the Body Armor series. I didn’t need to have read the first two to enjoy this novel which I greatly appreciated. It’s because the characters from the first two showed up to help out Miles and Maxi that piqued my interest. Even as secondary characters, they were delish. This book had a lot of pages but I whipped through the book because the pace, the action, the romance, the intrigue, and the suspense and mystery of who was behind Maxi’s harassment kept me glued to its pages. What a great read!

My favorite aspects of this story are the cats and how Miles interacted with them. They play important roles in a few pivotal scenes. I adore a big, tough hero getting purrs from a kitty so that right there makes Miles the perfect hero. I have a hard time describing Maxi because she’s many things – confident and vulnerable, sweet yet determined, and loyal to a fault. It’s her loyalty and gumption that put her in harm’s way. It seems an odd reason to put her in the cross hairs of criminal intent, especially because she is so nice and caring to everybody she meets, but since when do criminals make sense?

The very first chapter sets up the mystery. It starts off with one puzzle but things quickly heat up to the point that Miles calls in his buddies to help out. I love that part of Ms. Foster’s novels. There’s the sense of friends becoming family, of caring, loyalty and a great sense of fun and camaraderie. It always makes me happy to be a reader during those times because I feel like I’m right there, part of the community. I also like watching Maxi be overwhelmed by how many people actually show up to help out. She’s totally bemused because everyone accepts her for who she is and they do not doubt that she’s in danger. That has to be the best feeling ever – acceptance.

It’s not that the heroine has no family, she does but there’s significant tension and some bad juju in the past. So much so that I was ready to write them off as completely unlikable. Ms. Foster had a different goal in mind and I reluctantly concede that she made the right choice. I still think they need an attitude adjustment and they don’t deserve the wonderfulness that is Maxi, and that’s all I’ll say.

The good stuff is when Maxi and Miles get together in the carnal way. Ooh la la, was that spicy! They are so good together and I think they fell in love more and more every time they fell into each other’s arms. In the beginning, the words were hard for either one to say, but they showed it with their actions and how they treated each other. I liked that too.

The villain was hard to figure out until one of the internal dialogue scenes. The book is mostly told in third person for both the hero and heroine, but I was able to peek into the villain’s thought process from time to time. It was one sentence that made me shift from one possible culprit to another. I was right! But the reasoning and the motive behind it was actually kind of sad.

Close Contact is awesome. I had so much fun. It was a great weekend read and I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan but haven’t read it yet, romantic suspense lovers, and even first time readers because it’s a solid standalone read. Anyone who hasn’t read a Lori Foster book is missing out on some great writing and awesome heroes and heroines. This author does romance right.

Clark’s account emphasizes the social and political factors that influenced the responses of the workers, managers, government officials, medical specialists, and legal authorities involved in the case. She enriches the story by exploring contemporary disputes over workplace control, government intervention, and industry-backed medical research. Finally, in appraising the dialpainters’ campaign to secure compensation and prevention of further incidents–efforts launched with the help of the reform-minded, middle-class women of the Consumers’ League–Clark is able to evaluate the achievements and shortcomings of the industrial health movement as a whole.

Whatever happened to the Radium Girls? Read this book and find out.

I’ve been interested in the world of the radium girls for quite a while. I found this book and knew I had to read it. The information in this book is all there. The author digs deep to make the reader feel like he or she is right in the world of the girls. The good, the bad, the really bad…you’re there. For a story that has such a terrible ending, this book certainly captures all of the details.

The thing is, this book reads like a textbook. If it’s supposed to be one, then fabulous. If it’s not, then it can get a bit tedious. The writing is reminiscent of a textbook, which might not appeal to many readers. Then again, if you’re doing a paper about the radium girls, then this is exactly the book needed.

If you’re interested in learning about the radium girls, then try this book. It might be the one you’re looking for.

Love stories with strong female lead, mythology and siren lore, atmospheric settings, and all the feels? Siren’s Call: Cursed Seas doesn’t disappoint!

I picked this one up without having seen or heard any mention of it, but suddenly many of the people I follow in the book community started talking about it, and I could wait to start reading. They were right! I loved reading Nerissa’s story, which is well written, and impossible to put down!

Mrs. McKinley really knows how to hook a reader, and even from the first page, I found I wanted to know more, and couldn’t get enough! I flew through this one, and loved every minute, from the witty dialogue to the suspense and surprises, this book has a little of everything, and the romance added an interesting balance to all the chaos.

When I found this one, I was wanting a story that combined mythology, romance, and plenty of emotions to pull on my heart-strings, boy did Siren’s Call: Cursed Seas deliver! It also introduced my to a new author, and as mentioned, was a title I hadn’t heard of before, so it was extra exciting how much I enjoyed it!

This story is perfect for fans of paranormal/fantasy romances written for upper YA readers who enjoy siren/mermaid lore, and stories set on or near the sea! I loved reading this one, and highly recommend it to readers who are looking for their next read! You know a book is good when it has both characters you can’t help but love, and those you love to hate! With complex personalities, and some well placed snark, these characters take on a life of their own, and I’d love to see similar stories from Mrs. Amy McKinley in the future!

From the breakthrough international bestselling author of The Girl in the Ice, a breathtaking, page-turning novel about a disgraced female detective’s fight for redemption. And survival…

Kate Marshall was a promising young police detective when she caught the notorious Nine Elms serial killer. But her greatest victory suddenly turned into a nightmare. Traumatized, betrayed, and publicly vilified for the shocking circumstances surrounding the cannibal murder case, Kate could only watch as her career ended in scandal.

Now a lecturer at a small coastal English university, she finally has a chance to face them. A copycat killer has taken up the Nine Elms mantle, continuing the ghastly work of his idol.

Enlisting her brilliant research assistant, Tristan Harper, Kate draws on her prodigious and long-neglected skills as an investigator to catch a new monster. Success promises redemption, but there’s much more on the line: Kate was the original killer’s intended fifth victim…and his successor means to finish the job.

Digging into the past unearths more than Kate bargained for.

Kate is a complicated heroine with an intense past. When she caught the Nine Elms serial killer, it should have been the crowning achievement in her budding career. Instead, certain personal decisions were made public forcing Kate to leave her career as a detective far behind. I do think the combination of events in Kate’s past struck me as a little over the top. I can’t give details without spoiling the plot, but I will say that while none of the things that happen to her are completely implausible, together it did seem to be a bit of a stretch. However, because Kate is such a down to earth character, I was able to put my doubts aside and enjoy the story.

Kate is easy to admire. She is smart, caring, courageous, and has a strong sense of honor. Despite all that has happened to her, she never plays the victim. She doesn’t make excuses for her mistakes nor does she take pleasure in the mistakes of others. There was a moment when she could have easily lashed out at others who were at fault, but Kate chooses to take the high road. In that moment, she more than earned my respect.

As compelling as the plot and characters of Nine Elms are, I could not read this book straight through. Some of the characters and their actions made my skin crawl. The serial killer’s victims are murdered in a particularly disturbing way. As the layers of this mystery are peeled back and connections between various characters are made, the tone becomes even darker. I had to put the book aside periodically because I needed a break before diving back into that world. Despite this issue, I enjoyed getting to know Kate and found the conclusion to be satisfying.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to read Nine Elms. I recommend it to anyone looking for a dark thriller with a compelling heroine.

When Jonathan Deverill promised a dying friend he’d be guardian to the man’s daughter, he envisioned a girl in pigtails and pinafores, a child he could leave behind in some finishing school. Problem is, his ward is actually a fully-grown, defiant beauty whose longing for romance threatens to make his guardianship a living hell.

New York heiress Marjorie McGann wants a London season and a titled husband who can help her spend the Yankee millions she’s inherited, and she thinks her new British guardian is the perfect person to help her find him. But Jonathan has no intention of letting his friend’s fortune be squandered. Under his watchful, protective eye, Marjorie finds romance hard to come by . . . until one fateful night when her own guardian’s devastating kisses makes her wonder if the greatest romance of all might be right in front of her.

This is a perfect story for romance fans that enjoy the chase, the gradual build-up of yearning and desire, of watching a hero and heroine deal with the pitfalls and frustrations of navigating society’s rules and propriety, and relish the explosion of passion when it becomes impossible to resist. Jonathan and Marjorie’s initial meeting was tame which led the hero into a complacent frame of mind. Imagine his shock when he discovers that the heroine is a woman with her own opinions, goals and dreams, and has the gumption to make things happen. Plans go awry for both of them and the challenge they face is figuring out what they really want out of life, and what they’re willing to do to make it happen. The journey is fascinating.

Marjorie’s character starts out like fresh taffy, easy to pull and stretch, is moldable yet sweet. Once she figures things out, she ends up being a woman who knows her own mind and goes after what she wants. Jonathan is a man torn between duty and desire, old dreams and an uncertain future. What does he really want? His trying to figure it out is why I liked him. Life is like that – throws curve-balls at plans and all a person can do is stand there, twisting in the breeze with no true path until something seems ‘right’. What he chooses as ‘right’ ends up being his downfall and his saving grace. I didn’t expect it to work out like that but I am glad it did. It contributed to a nice wrap-up for their happy ever after. The author chose the right scenario for her characters and I liked the circular nod to their interesting beginnings.

The most profound and pivotal moment was when Marjorie realized that she won’t settle for what’s expected. She had a ton of examples of that life starting with Lady Stansbury, the epitome of proper. The author did such a great job of detailing the acceptable activities for a lady, I groaned when everyone else did at the mention of her name. Marjorie’s “Aha!” moment was precipitated by her interaction with her old friend, Jenna. That whole scene painted a crystal clear picture of her future if she let it. What follows can be called a classic coalesced romantic HEA – satisfying and complete.

My pace of reading was moderate at best. The author is a master at description to set a scene, with details that painted clear pictures for a reader so that the tone, emotion and environment could come alive. I’m not patient with that type of writing so I was chomping at the bit to get to the good stuff – when Jonathan finally acknowledged to himself that he couldn’t deny himself any longer, that he had to have her, and Marjorie would finally be awakened to the joys of being a woman in all its glory. Finally! It was worth waiting for. I enjoyed watching Marjorie grow as a person and as a woman and I was so happy to see Jonathan finally getting everything he ever dreamed of – even though his dream changed a bit, for the better.

Heiress Gone Wild follows the traditional style for historical romance. It’s a well written character driven story with secondary characters that contribute significant assistance to both the hero and heroine when they need it most. I especially liked Jonathan’s sisters. Oh, and their husbands too. I can easily recommend this book to historical romance fans. This novel is delightful and I am happy I read it.

This was a great story, with Lee meeting up with his boyhood crush, and Saul being everything Lee could possibly wish for. I completely understood where Lee was coming from, and like the others in the book, sometimes I thought Saul deserved a clip on the back of his head, however well-meaning his intentions were.

This is a romance and suspense wrapped up together. It has a perfect cast of characters (I’m looking at you, Gracie!) and some heart-rending moments too. The conversation with Sam just about killed me, but I won’t go into any more detail than that!

With a smooth pace, a great storyline, and that fantastic cast of characters, this was a book I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this book, and I look forward to reading more in this series.

This story continued the trend – I’m adding this one to my keeper shelf too. After reading the synopsis I was worried it would be too busy for me to follow. I can confidently assure readers that if I can follow and connect with four leading men and their prospective others during a chaotic Valentine’s Day weekend, it’s safe to say anyone can.

Not only do I consider this a contemporary romance book, I consider it a fun comedy. I genuinely laughed out loud quite a few times while reading the story. The plot was creative and written well. There were some predictable parts but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. The attention to detail sparked my curiosity enough to consider visiting a B&B for a weekend. I’ve never been to a B&B before and while I know it couldn’t possibly be as wonderful as the Lonesome Buzzard Ranch, I’d still like to try staying at one.

Cupid Comes to the Lonesome Buzzard Ranch was basically four romances going on at the same time, like a soap opera, all in one book. I honestly can’t say which leading character I preferred since I loved them all. They all received their happily ever after and I couldn’t think of a better way to pass a few hours. I’m so thankful I was the one that got to review this book.

Lydia is thrilled to join the working girls in the factory, where they paint luminous watch dials for the soldiers fighting in World War I. One hundred years later, Julie, whose life is on hold after high school, becomes intrigued by a series of mysterious antique paintings she finds in a thrift store. When she discovers their hidden-and increasingly nightmarish-glowing images, Julie is determined to learn more about them. As Julie’s obsession mounts, truths about the Radium Girls-and her own complicated relationships-are revealed. Can she uncover the secrets behind the paintings before she puts herself and everyone she loves at risk?

A special painting that changes when the lights go out and a girl with a complicated life. This book packs a punch.

The author has created a story that captivated me from the first page. The writing flowed well and I had to know what would happen next. I also got emotionally invested in Charlotte, Liza and Lydia. I liked them, even when I wanted to shout, don’t eat that paint!

The characters of Lydia, Liza and Charlotte were well-planned and made the most of the situation the Radium Girls went through–they tipped their brushes to paint watch dials with paint that glowed in the dark. They also painted their jewelry, painted their teeth and as a bi-product, ate the paint. I liked these characters and would’ve loved to have read more about them.

Julie, the modern day character, had her issues. Now, she’s a young adult who didn’t get the chance to go to college because she got her mother’s house out of foreclosure. So, yes, she’s got some issues. She’s a older teen, she’s the bread-winner in the family and she has some communication issues common with teens – she thinks everyone knows what she means and she knows everything. The author created the character in an interesting manner, but there were a few things that happened to her that seemed a bit cliche.

Still, I liked this book, and while I don’t read much YA, I recommend this one. Give it a try.
