Left to care for his abandoned twin baby nieces, Chase can’t believe his luck when Jessie offers hope of reining in the chaos his life has become. There’s only one problem—the feisty redhead from his past has the potential to break his heart all over again.

Jessie couldn’t believe it when she bumped into her old crush, Chase, at the employment office. Even less could she believe the two adorable twin toddler girls Chase had in tow. Chase has been struggling since his sister decided she couldn’t handle being a mother to her one year old twin girls anymore and left them with Chase. He’s determined to do right by his nieces, but he hardly knows anything about caring for two small children, so meeting Jessie again seemed like sweet serendipity.

I found this to be a lovely, sweet and slow-moving romance. I enjoyed how both Chase and Jessie weren’t simplistic characters, but complicated and had a number of different layers. Even though they had grown up together and knew each other well they’d each continued along their own path – Jessie going into the big city to become a lawyer and Chase taking over his family land – and so there was still plenty the two could learn about each other as adults.

I also found a lot of comfort and enjoyment out of the plot. While not fresh or unique in any way, there’s something lovely about reading a well-known type of tale – childhood friends returning home, re-establishing the connection always burning between them, adapting and embracing the circumstances find each other in. Add in some adorable kids and adjusting to life as responsible adults and there was plenty I found to keep me eagerly turning the pages.

I could understand if some readers might be disappointed that there wasn’t anything particularly new or fresh to this story, but I believe that readers interested in a comfortable, well-written and slow paced sweet romance should find plenty here to enjoy. Even the areas of conflict – Jessie hiding a pretty important secret and the drama of inter-family jealousies – were well-worn plots but didn’t have me too concerned as a reader, knowing everything would settle down and come right. I also found the balance between the plot and conflict, and the slow-burning growth of the romance between Jessie and Chase was handled very well by the author and really sold me on how lovely this story as a whole was.

With interesting, complicated characters, a well-known storyline and plenty of interest from the cast of youngsters I found this to be an enjoyable small-town, family-orientated style of full length story and one I really enjoyed. Recommended.

Gabe Lopez travels to Everness, Texas, to investigate and profile a dangerous group of white supremacists living on the outskirts of the small town. As far as he’s concerned, the assignment can’t end soon enough. When he stops to help Matt York with a flat tire, he anticipates a sexy distraction—nothing more. Matt left a successful life and business back in San Francisco to fulfill a promise to his aunt: find his runaway cousin and bring him home. But Tommy is on a dangerous path, and someone is trying to scare Matt off—or worse.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the first I’ve read by this author, and I read it in one sitting.

This is book 2 in the Texas Heroes series, and I have not read book one, Take Down, but I wasn’t missing anything by not. I would like to go back and read that book, though, because Jake and Danny play a part here, and I want their story. Enough hints were given to have piqued my interest!

There is immediate attraction between the guys, when Gabe rescues Matt at the side of the road, and then when Gabe rescues Matt from the bathroom incident. It burns hot and deep throughout the whole book. Matt surprises Gabe, once Matt decides to jump in with Gabe and I loved that the smaller man was the more dominant.

While it is immediately clear to the reader that Matt’s search for his cousin will merge with Gabe’s reason for being in town, it’s not to Gabe and I really enjoyed that it took time for the two webs to become entangled. I felt the way the guys tried to step back from each other when both Matt and Gabe’s reason for being in town became clear (and they really did try) was right and proper.

There were twists in this story I was NOT expecting, and I loved being kept on my toes right until the end! Some clues were given to how that might go down, but I did not put them together in time! Some clues to the next book, when all that went down, maybe? It will be interesting to see who comes next.

A thoroughly enjoyable 4 star read.

I don’t know what I was expecting when I picked up this book, but I can honestly say that it was not what I wound up getting. The ending completely took me by surprise, I had not even entertained it as a possibility. Now, I can be a rather gullible reader, so that might have something to do with it, but I was completely stunned when I read the final pages.

The Wives was one of the most insane, engrossing books I’ve read all year. I have this weird fascination with polygamy and I’m not even sure where it came from. However, the idea of plural marriage is alluring and therefore, this book was a must read. I’d highly recommend this to anyone who loves a great psychological thriller packed with twists and turns you weren’t expecting. Although I don’t often re-read books, I’d love to read this one again, knowing the things that I know now, and wonder if it would change anything. I will definitely have to pick up more of the author’s books now.

In a page-turning work of narrative non-fiction, Heath Hardage Lee tells the story of these remarkable women for the first time. The League of Wives is certain to be on everyone’s must-read list.

These women had guts. Period.

I can’t imagine being in the shoes of the League of Wives. Each woman’s husband has been captured in Vietnam and the wives don’t know what happened to them. Talk about stress. Like I said, I can’t imagine how they handled it.

The author handles this topic, the POWs and MIA soldiers in Vietnam with a special touch. The writing flows well and I got caught up in the struggle of each woman profiled. I had no idea how much Ross Perot or Bob Dole did for these soldiers and their family. I learned a lot through the reading of this book. A reader who lived through this era might not learn as much, but that shouldn’t be a deterrent.

This isn’t an easy read. Now I know that sounds strange. I just said the writing flows well, but then I said it’s not an easy read? The author shows how these women went through the wringer and how they did (or sometimes didn’t) handle the stress of their situation. It’s hard to read about women struggling to cope. They’ve got kids, family and their determination to get their husbands home. It’s a lot to handle. Some did. Some didn’t.

Give this book a try. It’s worth the read. Recommended.

Peter curates a niche antique shop specializing in sex toys and kink from the past. His extreme neediness has cost him relationships before, and it won’t be easy to open up and reveal the true extent of his desires.

Both Jack and Peter have changed in the past decade, but they’ve only become more compatible, with preferences that complement each other perfectly and chemistry that flares back to life with a speed that amazes them. But Peter fears he’ll drive Jack away as he has so many others, and Jack will have to work hard to earn Peter’s trust.

For a while now Jack has been focused on building up his business and while he has no regrets, he privately can admit to feeling a little lonely. Still, he’s surprised when he says yes and allows his friend, Tide, set up a blind date for Jack with a guy – Peter – who is a friend of Tide’s partner Lance. Both Jack and Peter are shocked when they both get to the restaurant – they dated back in high school and had only broken up because their lives were moving on different paths. Excited to be back in each other’s lives, Jack and Peter are eager to explore the men they’ve both become and see if an old flame can be reignited.

I found this to be a delicious and somewhat sweet full length story. I really loved how realistic the BDSM aspects to both Jack and Peter’s personalities and needs were shown throughout this story. I thought the slow, gradual way they opened to each other helped set a good (and more importantly, realistic) pace to their romance. It didn’t bother me that they were happy to jump into the more intimate side of their relationship early because they’d known each other through high school and that trust and friendship was still present. I thought it added a lot of interest that neither man was the somewhat sweeter and more innocent kid they’d been so that re-learning of each other added to the plot in my opinion. Their more adult tastes and desires – like Peter’s need in the bedroom, or his enjoyment of wearing corsets, or Jack’s hunger to be Dominant – took more time to both explore and for each man to open to the other about. I really enjoyed this realism, but also found it made the pace of the story itself work really well for me. It made me really connect with both men’s characters, but also added a deeper layer of emotion and vulnerability which I enjoyed almost as much as the kink and sexual aspects of the story.

I also really enjoyed how, while much of the story revolved around the sexual and intimate actions between Jack and Peter, there were plenty more “real life” scenes to the story. Jack baking up a childhood treat for himself and Peter, or the two men meeting each other’s dogs – normal, relatable, “easy” scenes that showed me what each man’s character was life outside the bedroom. I found this so refreshing for an intensely erotic story – but also loved seeing that the two men were building a solid, stable relationship which I could so easily identify with. I strongly feel readers who even usually don’t enjoy kinkier stories or elements of BDSM could genuinely enjoy much of this story and would recommend it for readers unsure whether they want to dip a toe into this style of story.

The sex was deliciously explicit and also fairly kinky. While I personally didn’t feel there was anything too hardcore or pushing the envelope it was most certainly flavoured by the BDSM scene. Peter has a number of piercings and enjoys the sensation of being “held” that wearing a corset under his clothes gives him. There’s also plenty of toys and a few scenes of spanking – but I personally felt the clear love and chemistry between the two men lent each of the sex scenes an air more of intimacy and erotic playing – rather than something darker or edgier that BDSM lifestyle stories often portray.

A well rounded, deliciously sexy but still sweetly relatable story – I loved this book. I thoroughly enjoyed Jack and Peter’s characters and firmly believe in both their romance, relationship and compatibility as partners. An excellent story I shall enjoy reading a number of times in the future.

Just as she thinks she’s made a decision, her journey to happiness is waylaid by storms of doubt. But the important thing is that she’s finally figuring out what she truly wants for herself, and she understands that whatever choice she makes must be hers and hers alone.

With plenty of action, this story hits hard and doesn’t stop.

I’m a sucker for a love story. I am. I want to know people are going to make it after all. This story is unique–at least it is to me. This book starts right off with the fact the husband cheated. Right there, that might be a turn off to some readers. So, if it is, beware. Then the heroine decides she might like to have an affair, too. This might be the deal breaker for other readers. Just putting it out there so you know what you might be getting into.

That said, LeBan writes an interesting story that drew me right in. I had to know what would happen. Based on the blurb, I wasn’t sure if I’d like the book. I’m not wild about reading stories with cheaters. But the more I read, the more I had to keep going. Like I said, the author drew me in.

I have to admit, I wasn’t a fan of Joel. I wasn’t entirely sure what made him decide to cheat, but he did. I did like how the characters grew through the story, though. I also wasn’t fond of Hannah at first. She seemed to just crumble. That said, she doesn’t stay crumbly. I liked how she evolved through the story. She’s not perfect, but it works. I could relate to how she felt and could see why she did what she did. Above all, she loved her husband. I get it.

This book might not be for all readers, but if you’re willing to give it a try, then it’s a pleasant, thought-provoking read. Give it a chance. You might be surprised. I was.

Five women wanting to own the sky.

I’ve been on a bender reading historical non-fiction books. I’m in awe of the space program, but this book shows where things all began–flight. When I saw the name Amelia Earhart, I thought, okay, this is about her big flight. But it’s really not. It’s about the women who wanted to learn to fly and were part of the twenty-nine who originally got pilots licenses when it wasn’t considered something women should do. I loved the pioneering spirit of these women and the “never give up” attitude.

The writing flowed well, but there were times when I wasn’t sure who I was reading about. The lead-up to the reveal about which woman was being spotlighted in any given chapter was a tad long. At times it read a bit like a textbook, but I wanted to know about these women, so I kept going.

Madison receives acclaim for running a talent agency for people with disabilities, but she doesn’t know how to take care of herself. He is witty, sexy, and her teacher. That makes him off limits.

After a successful run on a soap opera, Brandon stepped away from empty fame and now focuses on his work as TV’s most noted health teacher. He has one fast rule—never fall for a student. But when he meets Madison, their chemistry is combustible. There’s no hiding their conflict or their attraction, especially when it’s all caught on film.

This was a fun, sweet book full of good times and love… and not just between our H/h.

In addition, DHEA has anti-aging properties purchase levitra and is proven effective in the treatment of ED. Madison was an interesting, realistic character. Honestly, she reminded me a little of me: driven, fueled by caffeine, seldom slowing down to relax and consider life. This catches up to her as the story opens, and we meet her as she’s slowly coming to after fainting. Her rescuer is guru Brandon, there to try to talk her into slowing down before she kills herself.

Through a series of events, Madison (Maddie) is convinced to take part in his reality show and become his next student project. Here’s where things slowed down a little for me. I get that his job is to teach her his life practices, but a lot of the time it read more like a yoga or meditation textbook than a romance. While I understood the point of it, it felt a bit preachy at times. Thankfully, Madison lightened things up with her jokes, cheeseburger references and hidden cell phone.

Over time, they actual ended up teaching each other and learning lessons they didn’t expect. I gotta say, having hidden cameras every freaking place but the bathroom would drive me batty. Madison wasn’t a huge fan either, but she dealt with it better than I would have.

Although the heat level is technically spicy. the presence of cameras everywhere and Brandon’s determination not to get involved with a student means they don’t even kiss for the first couple hundred pages. There’s tension, to be sure, and their attraction is clear, but don’t grab this book expecting lots of smexy times. Even the heat between the sheets is very tastefully described, clear but more emotionally than physically. This is not a complaint from me at all… I tend to skip the sex in books unless it forwards the plot somehow, so I enjoyed it. Give me tension any day!

The secondary characters here were a lot of fun, too, from the folks on Brandon’s crew, to Maddie’s crazy family. The author skillfully created a whole pack of people who were interesting, entertaining and unique. Speaking of the author and her writing, it was smooth, easy to read and I never tripped over anything that made my experience stutter or stopped me in my tracks. Well done!

All in all a pretty solid story. Yes, it’s a romance, but it’s almost more women’s fiction or contemporary fiction with romantic elements. Lots of soul searching and life changes here. A good, solid read with well written characters and a solid, believeable plot. What more could a reader want? Recommended.

While at times I felt the pace between them was a little slow, it was also understandable as Trevor in particular was still not in a good place from his recent breakup. While it made the story a lot more realistic to me, and the connection and emotion between the two men was very well drawn, I did at times feel that there was a little too much hesitancy on each man’s side and this allowed small flutters of doubt creep into my mind.

I really enjoyed the men’s characters. They felt well drawn, emotional and realistically complex. I also was pleased that the author didn’t have Trevor hang around and turn his very brief holiday into a longer-term thing right away. That would have been something very easy for the author to do to push the romance between the men, but I feel the book and the plotline was far stronger for giving Jerome and Trevor a bit of space and time. I feel this “away from each other” section on the book was very well handled.

Readers looking for a deeply emotional book should really love this. I enjoyed reading about Trevor and Jerome as they connected with each other, eased each other’s hurts and most importantly learned about one another’s lives. This book is filled with interesting facts about Ireland and Brussels and I feel the author was really deft handling these facts – not info-dumping on the reader but weaving it skillfully into the story. The connection and emotion between the two men is absolutely the highlight for me of the story and goes a long way to making me want to pick up more stories by this author.

A strongly written, lovely full length story this is a great read.
