“I want to know you, to understand anything at all about you, because you are the most maddening lady I have ever encountered.”

He’s the perfect gentleman…

After years hidden away from the mockery of the Ton, proud Andrew Clifton, Lord Amberstall, is finally ready to face Society again. But when his horse is injured on the road to London, Andrew finds himself literally thrown at the feet of the beautiful, infuriating, and undeniably eccentric Katie Moore.

…she’s anything but a lady.
Therefore it is necessary that ladies in general http://martinblaser.com/cialis-5852 viagra prescription these medicines are known as medicine with chemical ingredients such as sildenafil citrate, Tadalafil, Verdenafil etc. Although it is just a self test but the preparation-pints should be asked by Check This Out cialis sale a professional healthcare provider. In addition, and not surprisingly, the risk of the condition has never vardenafil sale been so difficult after discovering of anti-impotent medicines.
Katie always preferred the stables to society, so when she was badly injured in a riding accident, she was more than happy to retreat to the countryside and give up the marriage mart for good. She never expected an infuriatingly proper lord to come tumbling into her life—and she certainly never expected to find herself wondering what it would be like to rejoin the world at his side.

They couldn’t be more different, and soon Andrew and Katie find themselves at odds about everything but the growing passion between them…and a keen awareness of a threat that may end their unconventional romance before it has even begun.

It wasn’t a very auspicious beginning. He’s being chased and jumps his horse over a hedge. He lands on her potter’s wheel and smashes it and his horse falls with an injured leg. The first thing they do is argue.

This is the first book I read by Elizabeth Michels and I’d be happy to read another. She does a very nice job of creating a love/hate relationship as well as describing the ways of the ton. She takes two wounded characters and lets them work at helping the other person.

Andrew was going home until he got attacked by two highway men. He ended up at the feet of Katie, who didn’t want to be bothered. Andrew had been mortified a year ago at a big event and had been recovering from his shame in Scotland. Katie had been thrown by a horse and hobbled around with a cane – mostly so she wouldn’t have to ride again. Since his horse is injured, he was going to put him down. What he didn’t anticipate was Katie’s passionate response to that: She would heal the horse. And, no, she would not sell him another one to continue home, he could just wait.

This is a story of treachery on all sides. The ton had a lot of greedy people amongst them and they not only wanted all that they had but what others had, too. As you try to figure out who is trying to kill Andrew and why, you also find out that Katie’s family is involved. Their relationship was already a mess without factoring that problem in.

The ending is dramatic and fitting. There is no doubt anywhere about who loves whom at the end. There are only new beginnings and sometimes we all need that.

The author snagged me with likeable characters, a good plot, and a concern that things would turn out well. I need not have worried; she finished this up with a perfect ending.

At least that’s what her older brother thinks. However, when it comes to Jim Ferguson, Lady Ella is quite serious. One long, lingering kiss put Jim at the center of her romantic desires and at the top of her list of suitors. And she plans to keep him there. Unfortunately, Jim wants off her list because of a secret past, a career as a shipbuilder instead of a gentleman, and his own inability to resist her. Proving her love—and his worthiness for her love—is Ella’s only way to rivet his attention.

Not your typical historical romance, Riveting His Attention is a fun read.

Ella amused me with her ratings of kisses from her season. And her diary entries at the start? Fun! Jim is the only one who made her pulse skyrocket, and she’s decided that she’s in love with him and will have him, no matter what her brother (or Jim) thinks. She goes after the prize in a single-minded fashion.

Ella was both loveable and irritating. I struggled with my feelings for her, because sometimes she just made me want to slap her. But she was never mean or nasty, just determined. And, thankfully, she does a lot of growing as the book progresses. She starts out a bit shallow, but shows increased depth by the end, and that really redeemed her for me.

I had to make concessions for the time with Jim. I understand he’s not a member of the gentry and doesn’t feel like he’s an appropriate match for Ella because of this and a secret from his past. But, clearly Ella and her family don’t feel the same (and I didn’t think his secret was *that* big an obstacle once we found out what it was). He was, at heart, a really awesome guy, and I can understand why Ella was determined to have him.

I did enjoy the bit of intrigue included with the ship and a villain. It made what could have just been a typical romance into something more and helped give Ella her time to shine.

While this story may not have been my absolute favorite, I still enjoyed the read. I like the author’s voice as well, and would be very interested in reading more of her work. I suspect readers who are big fans of historical romance would very much enjoy this book.

Cavendon Hall is home to two families, the aristocratic Inghams and the Swanns who serve them. Charles Ingham, the sixth Earl of Mowbray, lives there with his wife Felicity and their six children. Walter Swann, the premier male of the Swann family, is valet to the earl. His wife Alice, a clever seamstress who is in charge of the countess’s wardrobe, also makes clothes for the four daughters. For centuries, these two families have lived side-by-side, beneath the backdrop of the imposing Yorkshire manor. Lady Daphne, the most beautiful of the Earl’s daughters, is about to be presented at court when a devastating event changes her life and threatens the Ingham name. With World War I looming, both families will find themselves tested in ways they never thought possible. Loyalties will be challenged and betrayals will be set into motion. In this time of uncertainty, one thing is sure: these two families will never be the same again. Cavendon Hall is Barbara Taylor Bradford at her very best, and its sweeping story of secrets, love, honor, and betrayal will have readers riveted up to the very last page.

“Barbara Taylor Bradford” is all some readers need to see on a cover to want to read a book, and indeed, Cavendon Hall will meet fans’ best expectations. We readers step into start of the twentieth century, into an Earl’s family and grand old home, and see both sides at once: the staff’s sharp view as well as the view from ‘the family.’
There are certain male enhancement exercise that will enable your teen to let you know they are in it for generic sale viagra the long haul, not here-today-gone-tomorrow, so you can believe them with your business. Perhaps most important, leaders levitra pills for sale must view their organizations as learning communities.
Cavendon Hall is home to two families, sharing a symbiotic relationship – the gentry, the Ingham family and their long time, endlessly loyal Swanns. What sets this two families apart is mutual recognition and appreciation between those families. Unlike the more typical masterclass, the Inghams exhibit great appreciation for their staff.

Appreciation sometimes borders on great reliance, even attachments…but the mutual attractions do not always come with mutual benefits. The interplay of human drama here starts years–perhaps decades–earlier, as the current patriarch speculates about his father’s involvement with the incredibly loyal and brilliant Charlotte Swann. However, if there is one thing Swanns are careful about, it’s gossip…so we only slowly uncover the depths of the relationships here.

Odd characters with odd problems keep the story unpredictable: Why is the crazy local gypsy hanging about? What is wrong with the unlikable lady of the house, Felicity? And the lovely young Cecily, who yearns to be a dressmaker and seems so enthralled with a certain young man; can her dreams come true?

When disaster strikes the beautiful Daphne, favorite of both families, both immediately step up to protect her, and she needs protecting from both her attacker and the judgmental eyes of society. If I had one complaint, it would be how quickly answers to her ‘problem’ are suggested, although of course it might only be that I didn’t wish the story to end! There is more than one ‘knight in shining armor’ here, and more than one devil… even the lesser servants don’t escape the notice of the author!

Cavendon Hall is a romance with a depth and wealth of character within its characters: this is one of those books you read and want to keep reading, and in any moment when you must set it aside to do something else, you will yearn to keep reading.

The Way to a Hero’s Heart…

Fiery, workaholic Lily Redman is sure of two things: that she knows good food and that she always gets what she wants. So when she arrives in Cornwall, she’s determined to do just that.

Kenan Rowse is definitely not looking for love. Back from a stint in Afghanistan and recovering from a messy divorce and an even messier past, the last thing he needs is another complication. So when he lands a temporary job as Luscious Lily’s driver, he’s none too pleased to find that they can’t keep their hands off each other!

But trudging around Cornish farms, knee deep in mud and meetings with egotistical chefs was never going to be the perfect recipe for love—was it? And Lily could never fall for a man so disinterested in food—could she?

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but this couldn’t be further from the truth for Lily when she meets the taciturn, sometimes rude, Cornishman Kenan.

Lily Redman and Kenan Rowse appealed to me instantly, mostly because they couldn’t be more different. Lily is a rising star of the Cooking Network, a bubbly, energetic workaholic, while Kenan is jobless, divorced and haunted by his past mistakes. As we follow them through the story, it turns out they are far more similar than it seems at first glance, and because of this, the chemistry between them was convincing. The way they slowly reveal their true selves to each other and how that forms a strong base for their burgeoning feelings was the highlight of the novel. The differences between them make for a dynamic relationship from the first meeting on, and it only intensifies as several obstacles come in the way of them admitting their feelings and being together.

The novel starts off to a fast pace, but it loses steam in the middle with Lily and Kenan dilly-dallying about what to do about their growing relationship, until it picks up again towards the end. The story becomes more complex and intriguing as more and more side characters appear, but most of these are portrayed too black and white, which is a shame as more complex characters could’ve lead to an even more intense plot. Especially the last conflict would’ve been more intense if Lily’s ex lover Patrick had not been presented so one-dimensionally. The American/Cornish language peculiarities make for a few funny moments, but the conversations between Kenan’s eight-year-old daughter Mandy and the adults often feels stilted and awkward, too childish. The descriptions of cooking and food, however, show the author’s great knowledge and love of the topic as the scenes are mouth-watering.

I recommend Sugar and Spice to everyone who loves a sweet romance, and to every foodie. The tender emotions of the main characters and the descriptions of food will surely enchant you.

Soon, a war between the coven and the werewolf clan ignites, and Maya and Shane flee to Louisiana, where their passion for each other grows—as does Maya’s power. When she finds herself at the center of the conflict, will she finally trust Shane with her life—and her heart?

Maya Robertson is a young vampire with a bit of a penchant for inviting trouble. When that trouble includes sentry Shane Quesada, all bets are off. What could possibly make the already tense situation any more tense? The addition of werewolf royalty, of course! When a good time turns into a desperate situation, all Maya and Shane have to rely on is each other. But can they stop arguing long enough to stop what has been started?

I was excited to see that the second installment of Sara Humphreys’ Dead in the City series included two of my favorite secondary characters from the first novel – Shane and Maya. These two are a complete mismatch on paper, but work wonderfully well together when put to the test.

Shane intrigues me because he’s several hundred years old and is a total alpha male solely because men had to be in those days. Although alpha males have a tendency to seriously irk me, when they are born of a time when men had to be men – not because they wanted to be the Big Man but because the villagers’ lives depended on it – I find it much easier to deal with. Shane Quesada is one of these men. However, even though he is a warrior through and through, he finds a way to be everything that Maya needs.

Maya, on the other hand, is an extremely troubled youngling vampire. Having been savagely attacked and left for dead on the night of her turning, Maya can’t remember anything that came before that night. What she learns about herself in this book is both fascinating and unique. I think I liked learning her back story more than anyone else’s to date.

Vampire Trouble is a fun and sexy follow up to Tall, Dark and Vampire. You get a glimpse of Olivia and Doug’s continued life as bloodmates (and parents!) as well as new and interesting characters you haven’t met before. For me, the best part was the addition of the world of the gypsies and how it relates back to the main story. I would love to see more of this later in the series. Ms. Humphreys’ Dead in the City series has a little bit of everything: vampires, shifters, babies, magic, mayhem and more.

Lacy begins to think the present is more important than her past…until Chance’s connection to her mother and a murder spin her deeper into danger and further from love. Will the truth destroy Lacy and Chance or will it be the answer that frees them?

Descriptive and interesting, The Art of Love and Murder captured my attention from the first.

The book’s strength is in its characters and descriptions. Lacy and Chance are well drawn, well rounded, unique and interesting. They have strengths and flaws, interesting backstory and are folks I would have liked to meet in real life. Most of the secondary characters are also well done, though some are too much one thing. The villain is too completely evil (I really prefer a villain who might also have some good points … purely evil people don’t ring true for me) and I struggled to understand why women seemed to fall at his feet. He made my skin crawl. And Kitty was a bit over the top as a floozy, making me wonder what Chance ever saw in her. He’s not a shallow guy, and you don’t get much shallower than Kitty.

The setting was a character in itself. I loved the town! The author really made it come to life, not stinting on details (but not boring the reader either).

As a huge fan of mysteries, I found this one to be a bit disappointing. We know who the villain is from the start (much of the book is told from his point of view, and there’s no effort to hide his identity) and we know who the “mysterious” artist is, even if Lacy questions it at first. The clues are laid out with a heavy hand. We don’t know all the “whys” and I suppose that makes the journey interesting, but honestly, I read this book (and enjoyed it) for the characters and their journey and not the mystery.

Despite the few flaws, the writing kept me turning pages and I never once thought about setting it down. So, if you like a little light suspense with your romance, and prefer character driven novels, I can recommend The Art of Love and Murder.

Prey of Desire is a psychological thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Mysteries abound and there is a cast of characters who are each rather weird in their own way, so there are myriad suspects. I had the mystery all solved, several times, actually, but none of my solutions were the right one. I was totally fooled and the ending really took me by surprise.

Kim is a college student who broke up with her long-time boyfriend, but she wants him back. Even when her neighbor and friend, Mallory, sets her up on various blind dates, Kim resists. She keeps getting messages from Ross and she is sure they will get back together.

The tension builds on every page. People seem to be following Kim or staring at her. The descriptions are so real that I wouldn’t want to read this novel at night. It was definitely scary. Knowing that there had been other victims twenty-five years ago and knowing that the murderer was still striking in the same horrible way drives the story forward even though Kim herself has little knowledge of the past or the other victims.

The characters are well portrayed and they all seem very real, although many are not people that I would ever want to meet. Some are just wild, like Mallory, but some have serious problems. I was very glad that Kim has Zeus, a Doberman, although she certainly does have her hands filled trying to manage him.

The plot is filled with twists and turns, taking things in directions that I never expected. Mysterious phone calls, love notes, gifts, keep appearing and Kim thinks they are from Ross, but … who is actually sending these messages?

Readers of mystery thrillers are sure to be captured by this heart-stopping book. I just wouldn’t recommend reading it after dark.

In a dystopian future where paranormal creatures have assimilated into human society, a young woman fights to expose the mastermind behind an illegal drug only to discover that to stop him, she must risk losing everything – including her humanity.

Addison’s partner and on-the-sly boyfriend, werewolf FBI agent Cooper Daine, has been trying to find out who’s behind this new threat to humanity. But when he gets too close to the truth, he finds himself falsely accused of taking bribes from the very drug cartel he hunts.

Addison knows he’s innocent, but the FBI have other ideas and suddenly she finds herself in their sights. When they come knocking on her door and decide breaking it down is more effective, she does what any smart ex-street kid would, she runs. Next thing she knows, someone’s trying to assassinate Cooper, Lord Bellmonte is threatening to hurt her friends if she doesn’t find out who’s making the drug, and talented kid practitioners are disappearing from their school without a trace.

As the lies pile up, one thing becomes clear–the mastermind behind the drugs is someone more powerful and evil than anything she’s ever come up against. Addison doesn’t stand a chance of winning. Not without giving up the one thing she treasures most– Her humanity.

We’re in for a fun ride with this second installment of Judy Teel’s MAGIC series. We first met the characters in Shifty Magic and I strongly recommend you read that book first. Ms. Teel drops the reader right in the middle of the action in Undercover Magic and it would be helpful to already know who the players are and how they relate to each other.

Addy is a strong character who is not only trying to figure out who/what she is, but is also navigating the relationship circuit with Cooper while at the same time staying one step ahead of a corrupt FBI agent. Not to mention she also has to deal with the head vampire, Lord Bellmonte, who still has his own agenda going on.

Cooper has been accused of taking bribes, so Addy and her cohorts try to find the evidence to clear him– oh, and stay alive at the same time.

These characters are wonderfully drawn– you care about what happens to them. It’s an easy book to get lost in. When reading Judy Teel’s MAGIC books, I find myself in their world. I could so see these made into a movie/TV series and can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Sometimes you choose an adventure, and sometimes the adventure chooses you.

As soon as I read the premise of this novel, I knew I had to find out what happens next. Time travel is such a fascinating concept, and it’s even more intriguing when the protagonist does it accidentally. I liked seeing John go through his daily routines for a little while before he was suddenly jerked out of them. It developed his personality as well as helped me feel empathy for how disoriented he felt by the world he stumbled into.

John’s wide-eyed response to everything that has changed between his time and our own was quite funny. I was confused by his use of the English language, though, as there weren’t that many differences between the way he speaks and how Tess would phrase the same question or statement. Other than not understanding common words like car or cell phone, his speech patterns were almost indistinguishable from modern English. I briefly wondered if this was a side effect of the time travel, but my theory was never confirmed or denied.

There is still so much about these characters and the worlds they live in that has yet to be explored. From what I understand, there is a sequel to this book in the works. While I was satisfied with how this particular tale ended, I’d love to find out what happens to John and Tess next.

I’d recommend The Sun, the Moon, and Maybe the Trains to adult and young adult readers alike. This book has a little something for everyone!

Virginia, Lady Burke, is well aware that the powerful ex-spy will try to take command of their quest, but it’s her job to keep him under control. Yet how can she keep this untamable scoundrel under her thumb when all she really wants is to unleash the smoldering passion between them?

At last! We get to find out what has been going on with Nick, Lord Forrester, in this wrap up to the Inferno Club series. Nick has been languishing in a Scottish prison for six months, when he is released into the custody of Virginia, (Gin) Lady Burke. In previous books in this series, there was some doubt cast on Nick’s loyalty, and though he ended up proving himself by taking a bullet meant for regent, he still was sentenced to prison for trying to leave the Inferno Club, which is a lifelong obligation.

Lady Burke, it seems, is the biological daughter of Virgil, the deceased beloved trainer of this generation of Inferno Club brothers, including Nick. She desperately wanted to be a member, but since she was a female, her father wouldn’t consider it. She’s now a wealthy widow, and actually does a lot of investigating and rescue work of her own. But she has now run into a situation where she needs Nick’s help. The fact that she is Virgil’s daughter is the only reason Nick is released into her custody.

Nick is a very sympathetic character. He is tired of the killing, tired of what he’s become, and he just wants to earn enough money to go to America and start a new life. His reason for originally joining the order is no longer valid, and he is one lonely, confused man. Gin’s offer will let him start over, after he helps her, so he agrees.

Though Gin is a strong woman, and does good things, I just couldn’t connect with her. I found her too hard. She does things and wants things that she forbids her teenage son to do. She is also openly living a lifestyle, of which her son disapproves. Her lack of honesty is the cause of a lot of the ensuing action in this story. Yet, she does have a genuine love for Nick, and they have an explosive chemistry together.

The story itself neatly wraps up the series. One could read this as a stand alone, but it’s certain to be enjoyed more if you have read the previous books. For those who have followed along, it’s a satisfying conclusion to the Inferno Club.
