This is the cutest, sweetest story that I’ve read in a very long time. I loved it. I was smitten from the beginning to the end which made it impossible to put down. I adored all the characters especially the hero, Kurt, and the heroine, Mary. Of course they had some issues to work through but that just made the book all the more riveting. I have a soft spot for the stories similar to The City Mouse, Country Mouse.

This book was the perfect get-away filled with Christmas magic, first love, and landscape so breathtaking I didn’t want to leave. I didn’t know it was a prequel to a series when I started reading it. I definitely suggest that this book be given a chance.

This book is actually book #9 in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. There are hints along the way about stories that have gone on before, but nothing too bad to disrupt your reading.

The characters are fully dimensional, the contemporary world is familiar. The pace of this story is very smooth, and flows exceedingly well. With low-level angst, there is enough to keep you on your toes, whilst appreciating just how the characters feel.

This was a fantastic read from start to finish. I have loved this series, and I love this book. A jewel in the crown of Morticia Knight, by my reckoning. Most definitely recommended by me.

Kensington always picks authors who write a good story and make you care about their characters.

This author gives you plenty of challenges in finding the bad guy. There’s a variety of shady deals. Her lawyer has documents she hasn’t seen before that give her some clues. She tries to work with the police chief but he doesn’t want her involved in the case. He’s afraid the killer might come after her.

Ms. Goldstein dishes out clues slowly, gives you a lot of variables to consider, and there’s plenty of tension. The best part is that no one surfaces as the murderer until the very end and the reveal is most unexpected. It’s a very suspenseful story.

A peculiar explorer and downtrodden acrobat span the globe on a building-sized hot air balloon, in search of a precious artifact and the murderous treasure hunter who seeks it.

WINNER: Pinnacle Book Achievement Award – Summer 2018 – Best Adventure

Beatrix, a spirited but abused acrobat in a traveling circus, seeks more than her prison-like employment offers. More than anything, she wants to know her place in the world of the halcyon 19th century, a time when the last dark corners of the map were being sketched out and travel still possessed a kind of magic.

One night in Switzerland, the mysterious Colonel James Bacchus attends Beatrix’s show. This larger-than-life English gentleman, reputed to have a voracious appetite for female conquests, is most notable for traveling the world in a four-story hot air balloon called The Ox.

Beatrix, feeling the Colonel may have the answers to her problems, pledges to help him catch the criminal he seeks in exchange for passage on his magnificent balloon.

The criminal seeks a precious figurine, The Blue Star Sphinx, but he’s not alone. The Sphinx’s immense value has also drawn the attention of the world’s most deadly treasure hunters. A murder in Antwerp begins a path of mystery that leads all the way to the most isolated island on Earth.

What dangers await the Colonel and the acrobat?

Beatrix is an orphan who works as a trapeze artist in the circus. She performs over bare ground to make it more dangerous. Her boss uses a whip to punish any employee that acts out or gets mouthy. She gets her fair share of correction because she talks back to him. But one night she sees an Englishman at the show and finds out he rides around in a hot air balloon. She likes the trapeze because it reminds her of flying. Imagine what it would be like to ride in a hot air balloon!

Beatrix begs to ride on the hot air balloon. She wants to escape the circus. The Colonel refuses but when she offers to help him find the criminal he’s hunting he finally decides he’ll take her. He doesn’t intend to keep her long.

It’s a four-story hot air balloon. He soon teaches her how to fly and manipulate the balloon. She’s not real good at it, but she learns to stay afloat. The only thing she doesn’t like about the Colonel is that he’s a womanizer. Every time they stop somewhere he’s out looking for a woman.

She meets the other members of his team and they all become friends. They’re looking for the mysterious Christopher and he’s hard to find. Bee doesn’t know but the Colonel has more secrets. It’s a good thing she had acrobat training. It’s the only thing that keeps her alive…

Mr. Canning writes a very good story. It starts with a fast pace and that lasts the whole story. There’s plenty of danger, lots of excitement, and two unlikely characters become a team. There’s not a boring part in this story. The story flows well and you almost think you’re losing a character or two but not to worry. It ends unusually but happily.

Aidan steps in to rescue her, but secrets from his past threaten to bogey their newfound relationship.

I didn’t read book one or book two in the Cinderella Romance series but I plan to remedy that as soon as possible. Book three, Par for Cinderella, was a hole in one for me. I loved it and felt it could be read as a stand alone.

Aidan was swoon worthy. He was more than just a handsome man. He was generous, kind and thoughtful. Beautiful on the inside and outside. I felt if the other leading characters in the previous books in this series are anything like Aidan then I need and want to read them just for more swooning possibilities.

Casey, the heroine, was loved by her townsfolk. It was easy to see why. She had the matching characteristics of Aidan, therefore they were made for each other. Unfortunately her past broken relationships made her not trust handsome men and Aidan had secrets of his own that made their budding romance that much sweeter to read. I couldn’t put the book down. When they interacted I could feel the chemistry and often their banter made me seriously laugh out loud.

The story is well written with something consistently going on that left me riveted. There were a few plot threads that intertwined to keep the reader in suspense. The characters were well developed. Some I adored and others I was happy to see their demise.

There was some back story shared for some of the characters that had their own book prior to this one but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment at all. It only made me want to read the previous books to learn more about their story. I found the back stories to be intriguing not distracting or confusing.

There were some misunderstandings between Aidan and Casey that made for a book glow at the culmination of the story. I found Par for Cinderella to be a refreshing contemporary romance story with unexpected surprises through out the plot.

A fun fact is I dragged my feet to read it because I was afraid it was going to be “golf-ish”. I made that word up. I hate golf with a passion because it takes my husband away from his family. I have to say that I regret feeling like that now. Par for Cinderella was an awesome book!

Three festive romances: Christmas in the Wild West!

In Christmas Day Wedding Bells by Lynna Banning, buttoned-up librarian Alice is swept away by US marshal Rand Logan on a new adventure.

Then, Welles is Snowbound in Big Springs in this novella by Lauri Robinson, where he must confront Sophie and their undeclared feelings…

Finally, rugged outlaw Russ rescues Abigail from spending the festive season alone in Christmas with the Outlaw by Kathryn Albright!

Christmas Day Wedding Bells by Lynna Banning

Alice is a librarian who enjoys her job and her life. When the sheriff sends a deputy to ask her if she will come and see him, she has no idea what news he has for her. Her sister who lives in a mining is dead. And she was murdered.

This story moves along well and it’s fun to watch a romance develop between Alice and the US Marshall Rand. The author uses her imagination and has him ask Alice to go undercover and talk to the miners. That means singing in a saloon and wearing a daring dress. Alice is game and even almost enjoys it.

The mystery is hard to break, there’s an unusual killer, and justice finally prevails. This was a good read.

Welles has decided to come home and check on his grandfather. He left town in disgrace and confusion and nobody is more surprised to find him at the door than Sophie who’s been taking care of Chester. He’s been in love with her for years but he’s gambler and she wants to do with them. He doesn’t want to talk about what made him leave and she’s trying to pretend they’re just friends but Chester has some ideas about what’s going on.

There’s a lot of soul searching and explaining to be done and the author does a good job of making it sound realistic and honest. At least this time Sophie doesn’t get her heart broken…

The story is enjoyable, well written and fun to read. The old west was tough but so are the people who live there.

Christmas with the Outlaw by Kathryn Albright

He’s in a bind. He witnessed a murder, has been shot himself and he’s also being framed for the murder. His plan is to go to Denver to get an attorney he knows to defend him. He can’t make it that far, though, and stops at the business office of a childhood friend.

Since Abigail is a journalist at her brother’s paper, she always meets with the sheriff for information. She doesn’t like hearing there may be a killer headed their way. Then she finds out who has been accused.

This story is well paced and seems real. Small towns usually had people in power who pushed other around and it’s Russ’ partner that threatens everyone in town. He was also the one who shot him. How do you overcome lies when no one saw what happened? The townsfolk think he’s guilty.

When Abigail finds him in the storeroom, she thinks he’s a vagrant. Then she finds his wound and gets a doctor to treat him. Now there are four people in town who know he’s there.

The romance between them started long ago and that’s why he left town. Now it’s beginning again. He thinks he’s too old for her but he wants her. She’s always loved him but she also knows what he’s like and doesn’t know if she can trust him.

Watching this love grow and how they interact is fun. It looks like it’s hopeless but they still love each other. Then the sheriff finds him…

The author keeps your interest and makes you care about her characters. This western romance is a good read even if you have to worry about one of the main characters.

When famed attorney Bradley Hudson learns of his youngest son Langston’s arrest for drug trafficking, he immediately assembles a team of lawyers and investigators, including members of his own family, to build a defense. With his reputation for being a shark in the courtroom, Bradley is confident he will get justice for his son—until he realizes he will be going up against an old foe, Assistant District Attorney James Brown. Is the ADA allowing his personal history with the Hudsons to influence his handling of the prosecution?

To complicate matters, Bradley discovers that his older son, Lamont, a young lawyer and Bradley’s right-hand man, has secretly been planning his exit from the family law firm to get out from under his father’s shadow.

It may include simple education and counseling, the use of medications like cialis 100mg canada. As a result, there are many options that cheap viagra sales can help them as well. Before you take levitra professional make sure that you are not allergic to any of the component of the medicine. Desiree, Bradley’s only daughter, is fresh out of law school and quite reserved compared to her siblings. She’s the good girl who doesn’t normally like to rock the boat, but in what could be considered the worst of all timing, she is secretly dating a man and a woman, and both relationships are on a collision course. Given the problems her family is facing, now is not the right time for Desiree to introduce more drama to the mix, but she just can’t seem to help herself.

As if fighting for one son’s freedom and fending off the other’s betrayal isn’t enough pressure, Bradley is also in the middle of his own love triangle between his ex-wife, federal judge Jacqueline Hudson, and his current wife and jury consultant, Carla. He knows how much is at stake if his family’s drama spirals out of control, so he’ll do everything within his power to keep it all together and prevent his son from landing behind bars. With his trademark dramatic style, Carl Weber introduces readers to the Hudsons. Only time will tell if they can stand united, or if the legal dynasty of Bradley Hudson is about to come crashing down.

If I ever find myself needing a lawyer I can only hope to fine someone as famed and dependable as attorney Bradley Hudson. Not only is the Hudson family a family of attorneys but they each add in their own individual drama.

Carl Weber is well known for his writing about strong family units and this book is no exception. As always I enjoyed the author’s writing style and the plot is well developed and something fresh. It exemplifies strong personalities and a memorable family with plenty of trials. The characters are lively and bring a lot to the story. I get the feeling this was just a glimpse of their development and there will be more to come in future books.

This is not only a story of family but the bond and fight for one of their own. Young son Langston and three of his fraternal brothers are arrested for drug trafficking. The bond of brotherly love is tested and this story shows that under pressure that bond can unravel. The four young men endured a lot and their lives will forever be changed. Age old hurt and rivalry weigh heavy on Assistant District Attorney James Brown. He has it out for Bradley and will stop at nothing to hurt him and all that he loves. The secret that is being carried threatens to ruin a lot for a lot of people. I felt sorry for James to a point but at the same time think that he needs to be the bigger man and let the past hurts go and live his life.

The story is suspenseful. It’s a quick moving read but it doesn’t wrap up so nicely. The ending closed the case but left several relationships open and unanswered. Jacqueline, James, Perk, Desiree…all of the character pretty much didn’t have closure to their story. I’ve noticed a few editing issues in previous books by this author and this book has the same trouble. As a true fan I am still not disappointed. In my opinion the story is well executed, entertaining and has piqued my interest in future books.

This is a remarkable novel from a best selling author who knows how to give testament to a strong family bond. Highly recommended!

If adventure has a name…it must be Lady India Rochester. The intrepid archaeologist possesses a sharp blade and an even sharper knack for uncovering history’s forgotten women. Unfortunately, she has one annoying weakness: the dangerously handsome Duke of Ravenwood. Former best friend. Current enemy. And the man who dared to break her heart.

Daniel Bonds, the Duke of Ravenwood, is a thrill-seeking antiquities hunter who only plays by one rule: Never fall in love. He’s in it for the fortune and glory. At least that’s what he wants the world to think. He’s sworn to hide his tangled web of secrets, especially from the one woman he cares about and will protect at any cost.

But when a priceless relic is stolen from the British Museum, the rivals must align forces. Racing to recover the stolen antiquity and avert an international disaster? All in a day’s work. The grand adventure begins…now!

Fire and ice? In Lenora Bell’s For the Duke’s Eyes Only (part of Bell’s School for Dukes series) we find ourselves immediately wondering if two such different characters can possibly be meant-to-be.

Lady India and the Duke are quite well known to one another. In fact, they’ve known each other since childhood. They are about to share a quest, however, their goals are anything but the same. Their world is not just the ‘much loved’ realm of the London set, as in so many such romances, but the world of nineteenth century archeology. The lady is, unexpectedly, an archeologist. She is a scientist at heart and has lofty goals… but will she be undone by a certain measure of chemistry?

For Daniel, the very much titled ‘Duke of Ravenwood’ is a magnificent and engaging fellow and stalks the same world as she–but for gain. It seems anything personal between them would be utterly unwise, but each are drawn to the other. And, each believe they know better. Their interactions are a matter of slash and parry…and keeping a lid on their mutual attraction. The both have their own reasons, too.

The characters make this story; India is more than strong-minded (and progressive for her time) but also clever and insightful. There is more to Raven, the Duke, than one might guess, too. His goals might not be so self-serving…but no spoilers here!

The characters themselves will keep readers glued, but truly, the plot itself is riveting, the place perfect, and there is enough unexpected to keep readers guessing.

For the Duke’s Eyes Only is all its very compelling cover promises. I’ve put another by Lenora Bell right at the top of my reading list! Do read.

The heroine, Shaylee, pulled me into the story from the start. The chemistry and the developing relationship between Shaylee and Wrylack kept me enthralled until the end.

The Science Fiction was fascinating at certain parts of the story. It was the perfect mix of romance and Science Fiction for me. Though this is the second book in the series, the story was not all difficult to understand and is a great candidate for a stand alone.

Shaylee was a slave and the Alien was a healer. Not the usual combo but definitely something the book a great read.  Not your usual Alpha Male Alien & human story. Add Shaylee’s babies and I wanted an HEA real bad.
