Can a ruined wedding cake lead to true love? Wedding planner Lanie Malone has caught the eye, and more, of hotel owner Jason Henley, and has no idea what to do about it. And Jason is busy trying to convince himself he is only interested in a one-night stand with Lanie. Lanie has her hands full with the weddings, and thinks she has no time for romance. And she has to be on her toes, because her boss has a strict rule of three strikes and you’re out. Moira McTark has written a witty romantic comedy with enough twists and turns to make a person just a little dizzy. The heat between Lanie and Jason is almost instantaneous, and the relationship has all of the tension found when the couple tries to outguess each other. She makes Jason and Lanie human and fallible, and both have combustible tempers that get out of hand. She gives us the sexiest food fight I have ever read, and I love the interaction in the elevator, too. Lanie’s hard driving boss Connie is a character as well, and accounts for much of the discord between Lanie and Jason. There were two brief views into why Lanie and Jason are both a bit “gun shy” when it comes to love and relationships, and they take steps to correct the problems in their respective pasts. I enjoyed this story a lot, and would like to visit Lanie and Jason a few years down the road to see what they have been up to.

This is fun to read, but beware: laughter could erupt spontaneously along with the heat.
