Ms. Wildes writes a steamy novella, packed with action and intrigue. I liked that the hero, Devon, had a rough exterior hiding his kind heart. I also liked that Isabelle wasn’t afraid to explore her sensual side with him. The addition of Thomas, the best friend, was a nice touch that added an extra measure of humanity to Devon’s rakish character. My favorite part was the moment she told him that his rakish behavior didn’t mask his civility. I gave her a lot of credit for being comfortably blunt with him. The secondary story of the murder kept the romance moving a swift clip and kept the reader engaged throughout.
