Review by Tiger Lily
In the local pub on a Friday night with her friends, Carol meets Kevin. He is the kind of guy she can easily fall for: wealthy, articulate, good humored, and attractive. They date for a while, but then the relationship cools off.
Suspicious that he’s seeing someone else, she asks her brother, a police officer, to tail Kevin. Her brother discovers he’s seeing a dominatrix.
Rather than give up, Carol decides to explore Kevin’s sexual foibles. However, she is not alone. Three other equally determined women have their eye on him, and Carol realizes she must delve deeply into his wildest fantasies in order to gain his confidence.
Will she win him over, or lose to one of the other women? It cannot be a tie. Or can it?

Readers will find this work very relatable. Who doesn’t know someone who has a tiny secret? Who hasn’t tried to pick someone up at the bar? Although set in the U.K., Win, Lose, or Tie could take place anywhere. The plot is a bit complicated, but that merely serves to keep the reader on her toes. Kevin’s character comes across as rather bullish in the beginning, but his desire for honest love redeems him. Carol’s need to win over the man she loves and her resolve to find out who she really is easily garnered the reader’s respect. Many scenes in this short story were hot. My favorite included the romp in Carol’s bedroom in the early pages of the story because I felt every ounce of love he felt for her.
Win, Lose, or Tie isn’t for the faint of heart. If you want a sexy read with a twist ending, then this is the book for you. I give it 4 enthusiastic cherries.
