Luke Hanson burned for only one thing—Merryn Porter. Beautiful, smart, and totally off-limits. Determined to do the right thing, he rejects her love and ends up dead. Now Fate has cut him a deal, and he has one shot at making things right.

For Merryn, the pain of Luke’s rejection left her with an empty heart—until a freak accident on her best friends’ wedding day leaves her in a limbo she can’t escape. Confronted with the love of her life, she has to choose between redemption and temptation.

With the clock ticking, the past meets the present and never-forgotten desire threatens to consume them. Now Merryn must decide if she can trust Luke again before it’s too late.

Fate has a way of playing with people’s lives and it turns out she plays with a readers’ mind too.

This tale of love recaptured is at times sensual, sad, hopeful and perplexing. It’s the tale of Merryn and Luke, two best friends with a passion for each other. One is hiding it and the other is seeking it.

Merryn reaches deep within herself for courage and goes for what she wants and believes in. Luke on the other hand, even if he is older, is not quite as brave and does the wrong thing for the right reasons. Or so he’s convinced. This story reminds me a bit of It’s a Wonderful Life except on a grander, longer term scale. I have to give the author credit for coming up with a mind-bender of a story. How she wove the present time-frame and then tweaked it for other possibilities is astounding. The book also showcases the power of love over time and other seemingly unalterable events. The passion between the two main characters is clear and vivid. The writing is tight and the dialogue pretty much on target with their personalities. Secondary characters are minimal with only her best friend showing up and setting Luke straight about some things.

All in all, I have to say I’m glad I read Seducing Fate. It’s not your typical love story because it doesn’t tell the tale in the usual way. It was refreshing and different and the happily ever after was satisfying and sweet. I’d recommend this short read to any romance reader who is looking for something different, and enjoys a character driven plot. It makes you wonder.
