FBI agents Candice Fox and James Feral have served together for five years, using their genetically enhanced abilities to save hostages and fight a war. But as they’ve tempted death, an intense desire has grown between them — which they’ve carefully ignored. They’ve had to. She’s his superior officer, and love between them is strictly against regulation. But when a brush with death triggers a frenzied hour of passion, will their surrender to need destroy their lives?

Fox and Feral starts off with a bang and doesn’t stop, keeping a reader on the edge of their seat from the first adrenaline pumping action scenes until the very romantic bed flipping moment towards the end.

As soon as I saw that Ms. Knight wrote a Protect and Serve installment, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and I am excited to say that the story is even better than I’d hoped.

The author imbued this book with a gritty and emotionally charged venue to showcase two very unique and gifted characters. It’s hard to believe that such a short story could pack such a powerful romance but Ms. Knight’s excellent command of the written word ensured a stellar reading experience. The descriptions were visually stunning and the action hard core. The dialogue kept pace with the plot and it all came together seamlessly. The story is told in first person point of view through the heroine, Candace Fox.

Agent Fox is a tough cookie. She’s been in the military and has made hard choices. What I discovered is that underneath all that no nonsense commanding presence is a passionate woman who only knows one way to keep the man she loves by her side. And in this story, it’s all about to unravel. Before it does, it’s a wild and woolly ride that readers are going to enjoy. I know I did.

Agent Jim Feral is a bit of a time bomb. He has the potential to be a very dangerous person and yet what I found so wonderful and endearing is Fox’s ability to be the only one to calm Feral down. There’s a good reason for that and it makes for a great romantic read. I was completely entertained when he did the only thing he could do to instigate a change in their relationship. That was a heady bit of writing on Ms. Knight’s part and it was thrilling.

The happily ever after includes more of Ms. Knight’s signature writing skills. From the confrontation in the SAC’s office – which caused me to laugh a few times – to the pivotal decisive moment when their future changed until the moment Fox walked the path set down by Feral, all of it was gripping, fascinating and it all added up to one heck of a well told story.

Protect and Serve: Fox and Feral is an exciting and romantic read that wowed me with its tight writing, great character development and a happily ever after that satisfied me on every level. I couldn’t stop reading until I got to the very end because it was that good. I loved the passionate chemistry between Fox and Feral and I wouldn’t mind seeing them again as they embark on a new chapter in their lives. One thing’s for sure, it won’t be boring. Hear me chuckling.
