Ava Delany’s work is always hot and fast paced. This book is no exception. It’s spicy and delivers the right amount of kink to keep the reader happy. It’s a short story, so the plot happens fast—almost too fast in spots. I wanted to know more about the characters and what happened after the story. I love seeing how things work out after the last page.
I liked Mandy and Peter. In their respective ways, they are two repressed people. He’s a workaholic who wants a woman into kink. She’s in deathly fear that if she let’s go and lives a little, bad things will happen. It was easy to feel for her because she’s got issues that would be hard for lots of people to deal with. I wanted to see her get her happy ending, even if it meant coming at the end of a spanking session. Peter on the other hand, was a bit harder to come to like. He likes a woman who can handle a bit of spanking, a little anal sex, and come back for more. I liked his honesty, but I wanted to see more out of him. We get a tantalizing taste of him and it’s nice. But I wanted the full bite.
The sex scenes certainly scorch. I needed a fan and a cool drink with this one, but it was worth it.
