I really enjoyed the characters of the story and the chemistry that exists between them as their sex scenes steam up the pages. Great sexual chemistry isn’t the only thing that exists between Dean and Veronica. Both able to give the other what they need and have longed for their entire life: unconditional love and acceptance. But Veronica is reluctant to open herself up to hurt again and to risk losing her newfound independence. Her past relationships with her parents and her husband still haunt her. I felt the author handled the relationship and its difficulties very well.

In addition to Dean and Veronica, we are also introduced to a few other fascinating characters. Two of Dean’s fellow firefighters in this story, Tripp and Bailey, intrigued me and I longed to know more.

If Caught off Guard is anything to go by, I look forward to reading more in this great series.
