Emerald Douglas has fallen head over heels in love with the puppy she found on her doorstep. Oscar fills an empty space in her life and heart. Cody Martin isn’t sure what to make of the woman standing on his doorstep. And Emerald is not prepared for the man’s heart-stopping good looks or his son’s tremendous joy at being reunited with his furry companion.

Can one small puppy lead three people on the path to becoming a family?

Emerald really wasn’t having a good day. She overslept and was late to an important meeting, she finds out she has to find a new apartment because they are going to demolish the building she lives in sooner than first quoted, and it’s raining hard enough to drown her. Finding the dog hiding in a bush was the highlight of her day!

This is a cute, innocent novella about a career woman and a widowed man and his young son. It’s a toss-up over whether the dog or the child is the biggest matchmaker, and that’s my favorite part of this story.

This author knows how outspoken children can be about their ideas, never mind if the parents don’t share their enthusiasm. Jason, the son, makes all kinds of prudent suggestions: Why don’t you kiss her Dad? Why don’t you marry her, Dad? He makes me chuckle.

The story is a sweet romance where Emerald and Cody, the father, are just beginning to get to know each other. The love story proceeded a little faster than I expected but I do believe in love at first sight, so it could happen. Their romance dance is enhanced when Rudi, the dog, turns up missing again and they have to search for him. It’s a perfect moment of bonding.

This would be a good beach read or a nice little tale to read while sitting in front of the fireplace. It’s warm and fuzzy and it’d be good if you had a pet next to you that you could pat on the head while you’re reading. I enjoyed this read, why don’t you try it?

Audrey Rhodes once walked the straight and narrow, but a terrible mistake changed the direction her life. Now former boyfriend and bad boy, Brent Thomason, is back in Blithe Settlement claiming newfound faith in God. Audrey’s feelings for Brent haven’t changed, but she has. Her life is in shambles. How can she be worthy of this new Brent’s love?

Brent Thomason isn’t proud of his past. Audrey had been his friend and his love, and he betrayed her. Now a veterinarian, he’s returned home to work with Audrey’s dad and make restitution for his misdeeds. Brent finds it’s not so easy for people to accept his changed ways; still he must make things right with those he hurt, starting with Audrey.

As God directs their paths, Audrey discovers forgiveness is a two-edged sword…especially when she must first forgive herself. And Brent must accept God’s will…even if it means losing Audrey a second time.

One of the reasons I enjoy reading inspirational fiction is the depth and interest that the spiritual conflict adds to the romantic elements. The spiritual conflict in this book is especially well drawn, and in a nice reversal of roles in this fine romance. It’s heroine Audrey Rhodes who has lost her faith in God, and her high school crush, Brent Thomason, who has found his.

The author convincingly portrays the realities of Audrey’s loss of faith, and of Brent’s finding his. She manages this without becoming heavy handed or preachy. The added element of the abusive relationship with sort-of ex boyfriend Bobby lends another layer of gritty reality. I really believed both Audrey’s need to draw the line with Bobby and in his ability to walk back into her life despite her good intentions. Bobby’s qualities, both good and bad, shine through, and I shared Audrey’s ambivalence about whether to tell him to get lost or to take him back one more time.

One of my pet peeves in romances is the “I want to shake them hard” syndrome, where the conflict between the characters would disappear if only they talked to each other – and the reason that they don’t isn’t one that I believe. I’m happy to say that at no point in reading this book did I want to shake either Audrey, Brent, or Bobby. Their conflict was true and real.

The action takes place in a small town in Texas, and the setting – the hot, dry weather – are an important element in the story. The story moves towards resolution at the same time that the weather cools, moving from summer into fall.

This book isn’t beach reading; the conflict is too raw for that. And at times I found the pace a bit slow. As the book wound down, I wondered where the author was going to find the additional conflict necessary to finish the book. But she does, and in an especially satisfying way, she shows the true nature of forgiveness, and she doesn’t shy away from showing how hard it is, and why many of us might be tempted to hold onto our anger.

Return to Me will grip you and not let you go until the final page. If you enjoy inspirational romance, this book belongs on your To Be Read list.

Grace Lynn Stevenson is an eighteen year old girl who recently moved with her wealthy, but busy parents to a new city. She’s popular, pretty and rich – what more could a girl want? But deep down, she’s sad, lonely and plagued by nightmares. When she meets Sebastian Caldwood at her new private school, she’s inexplicably drawn to him and his strange tattoos. Sebastian always gets what he wants – he simply has to wish it; but he’s fighting his own inner demons, and struggling to remember a past that eludes him. When he remembers that he is much older than he looks, he realizes that he’s seen many people live and die, including Grace.

Once Sebastian realizes his true nature and finds what he has been searching for the past hundreds of years, he also realizes that it is now up to him to protect Grace from the dangers that have plagued them throughout eternity.

Grace lives a life of privilege. More often than not, that life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Her family has done well to uphold their image. Grace is popular, beautiful, talented, and so much more. She’s got a popular boyfriend who comes from a good family as well. Little does Grace know, something is missing. And when she meets Sebastian, a boy no one is sure of, she starts to see life in a different perspective.

I wasn’t sure what to think of Grace when the story first opens. Was she going to be one of those snobby popular girls I never cared for? When Sebastian approaches her during her free period while she is working on her art, she isn’t the nicest to him. Though as the book goes on, Grace changes her mind and feelings about Sebastian. The more time she spends with him, the more Grace realizes that the life isn’t all about keeping up an image, being perfect, and being around those with wealth and power. Though family and friends disapprove of her new friend, Grace doesn’t care.

Sebastian was a mystery to me. He intrigued me, kept me wondering who he was and where he came from. He’s different, and not afraid to embrace that. There are those at his school who don’t treat him well, but he’s not the kind of guy who cares about that. He’s sweet and protective of Grace, and his character kept me drawn into the story. He shows Grace new things, and as time went by I realized just how much I liked her after all.

Written in Grace’s point of view, this book has a paranormal element to it, but it took me a bit to figure out what that was. There are characters I loved and there were some I wasn’t too thrilled with. The emotion from Grace and Sebastian had me flying through the pages, holding on for a touching and beautiful ride. Amber Frost is haunting, charming, and amazing. Though it is young adult, people of all ages have an opportunity to enjoy a wonderfully written story that will leave you breathless.

If you enjoy reading in the paranormal genre, and if you like romance geared towards the young adult age, then don’t hesitate to grab a copy of Amber Frost. Let this magical story steal your heart.

Guy Blackwater has never forgotten his first wife, even though the marriage was annulled very quickly. His second wife, now deceased, gave him one child, Alison—who causes him endless problems by imagining herself in love with a different man each week.

When his daughter encourages a man to “rescue” her from imagined persecution, the plot goes awry and Guy finds himself face-to-face with his beloved first wife. Much has happened over the intervening years, in both their lives, but perhaps no hurdles are too much to overcome when love is in the offing.

The knights are truly front and center in Barbara Miller’s sweet historical romance, Knights Errant. So much so that I began to wonder where the heroine was? She is there, but you have to wait for her. Not always an easy or desirable thing for the reader to do.

The two “knights errant,” Guy Blackwater, an older nobleman with a difficult daughter, and Barton Strong, the young man whose misguided attempt to rescue Alison (the difficult daughter) draws them all into the tangled web, are both well developed, extremely likeable characters. We sympathize with Guy for having a shrewish daughter, who seems to have taken lessons from Shakespeare’s Kate. We also must applaud Barton’s instinct to protect a “damsel in distress,” though she turns out to be a conniving, self-centered girl who dupes him. We also come to understand why these men might be considered erring knights in need of atonement and how history has a regrettable way of repeating itself.

The plot moved well, I certainly didn’t lack impetus to turn the page, but I found myself more interested in the interaction between the two knights—the old hero and the young hero, rather than between the hero and heroine.

Miller’s female characters are not as sympathetically drawn in this book as are the male characters. Alison, as mentioned above, is shrewish and certainly hard to like throughout most of the book. But she represents a large portion of the conflict and her character arc eventually resolves itself agreeably.

But the book’s heroine, Diana Strong does not appear until almost halfway through the book (she is mentioned by Guy and we learn some information about their past, but she is not present in the story per se, until Chapter 3). This device creates the problem of distancing the heroine from the reader and may intensify the reader’s reaction to a character who is less clearly drawn than either Guy or Barton. Diana is not as likeable as either Guy or Barton and the motivation for her actions at the end of the story is unclear. She does not seem to care as much for Guy as he does for her, so that the end is very abrupt. I believe that Diana could have become a better rounded character had she been allowed to develop via scenes throughout the book, to both introduce her earlier and to keep her in the forefront of the reader’s mind.

The sweet romance of chivalry is well portrayed in Knights Errant, though it cautions that chivalry can sometimes cause as many problems as it solves. Happily, Ms. Miller’s characters reach the realization that doing the right thing may result in unexpected consequences, but in the end, love will find a way to make even errant knights into a damsel’s true hero.

Erica Brogna’s parents doted on her and taught her to think for herself. So many young men she grew up with fell in the war, shaking her childhood faith. In rides a handsome stranger, at the hour of her desperate need when her best friend and mentor is trapped in a burning house. This stranger rushes into the inferno and carries Erica’s friend’s lifeless body out.

Lorne Kincade can’t out run his past on his Harley Davidson, though he tried. He’s been a knock-about biker since the end of WWII. His uncle bequeathed him a ramshackle cottage in Sanctuary Point, on the Great South Bay of Long Island, NY and now he has hope for the future, wants to repair the miniscule place, and settle down. The problem is someone’s setting him up for a murder rap, a young woman with hair the color of mink is starting to get under his skin, and that’s the last thing he needs.

Love and hope rise out of the ashes of tragedy.

Erica and Lorne’s lives come crashing together the morning Erica discovered Ada’s house on fire. Lorne had my admiration from the moment he entered the scene. Without a thought for his own safety, he was willing to run into a burning house to save a woman he didn’t even know. While Lorne was too late to save Ada’s life, his selfless act firmly established him as a hero in my mind. After the initial shock of the tragedy is over, Lorne and Erica find themselves drawn to each other. However, they both had some personal issues to work through before they reached their happy ending.

Erica was a very easy character to like. She deeply cares for her friends and family and will go to great lengths to protect them. She’s also very smart and motivated. She struck me as one of those people who always needs to be doing something. I have a feeling that whatever Erica puts her mind to, she’ll have no trouble accomplishing. Erica is also very resilient. While Ada’s death shook Erica to her core, she came to realize that life goes on and focused her energy into helping find Ada’s murderer.

Despite all Erica’s strengths, she’s in the midst of a crisis of faith. She’d been questioning the validity of her belief in God for a while, but Ada’s death has made her take a hard look at her faith. I loved that Erica’s search for God didn’t come in any hard and fast answers. Instead she found solace in prayer and in her family and friends who formed a tight knit community of believers who were there to listen and support her when she needed them.

Lorne was a true hero from the moment he entered Erica’s life. Here is why this is important? No matter who you are, you viagra tablets price http://www.heritageihc.com/ would always want other people to behave in a certain way to ensure that it attains the size that will completely enter into the vagina. Now, it’s time to kick it to the curb and show that awful disease that you are a survivor and you can live a full, healthy levitra sale life! Insurance companies simply pay viagra canada free out on the treatments billed by the doctors. Not only did I admire his act of bravery, but he was also very caring and tender toward Erica. Like Erica, Lorne has issues with his faith. His life had been marked by tragedy from an early age and the war was just the most recent horror he’d had to endure. Lorne had left God behind him a long time ago, but as the story progressed, Lorne began to realize that God never left him. As with Erica, there were no easy answers to Lorne’s questions. I really liked the fact that Erica’s family and friends are Christians who gently lead by example. Their lives aren’t perfect, but they all have a strong faith and are willing to open their hearts and homes to Lorne.

In the search for Ada’s murder, Erica and Lorne came across plenty of unsavory characters. They each had a main suspect who would certainly have fit the bill. I never thought either of their suspects were the true culprit. I was constantly searching through the secondary characters in an effort to solve the mystery before the story was over. However, I was truly surprised when the murderer was revealed. I won’t spoil the ending, but I must say that I felt like the revelation came out of the blue. My only complaint with this is, when the story ended, I didn’t feel as if I truly understood the killer’s motivation for taking Ada’s life.

One of the things I most enjoyed about the story was the romance between Erica and Lorne. They were attracted to each other almost immediately, but were unwilling to act on it. Erica had just lost her best friend and couldn’t begin to entertain thoughts of romance. Lorne felt he wasn’t worthy of Erica’s affections. However, as the story progressed, the connection between them slowly began to grow. I liked that they never rushed into anything. They went on some lovely dates and really got to know each other. It was a delight to see them excited and full of butterflies at the thought of dancing together, or simply seeing each other again.

I enjoyed reading Burning Hearts. It is an inspirational story full of love and hope. Anyone who loves a good mystery paired with a sweet romance should certainly pick up a copy of Burning Hearts.

Besides falling into mutual admiration and maybe even into love, Wildlife photographer, Abby Neycomb and wealthy, Adam Rawlings, agree on one thing. Environmental work is both exciting and important. While capturing shots of mating/nesting birds in middle Florida, Abby is surprised to find herself with urges toward nesting herself. She is stunned when she finds the body of a local town councilman and is apprehensive when the sheriff asks for her assistance in finding the killer. She is even more surprised at the warm support of the local townspeople and the friendships they offer. Could Abby give up her life as a roving photographer to settle down as the mate of native son? Is her love strong enough to carry her through to a fairy tale ending, or will she end up like the tiny sandpipers running along the shore, evermore flirting with but never diving directly into the waves.

So, she was sneaking into a protected beach area; she wanted to get pictures of the rare Sandhill Cranes in their nest with their young ones. What was so bad about that? The park ranger that has found her is about to tell her…

I really enjoyed how the author began each chapter with a brief paragraph about one of the types of bird that might be found in the Florida marsh areas. I am always identifying birds I see, so this gave me an insight into the types to be found in Florida.

Ms. Lane’s words flow smoothly and the romance between her two main characters, Abby and Adam, is slow and sweet. Cures prescribed for treating semen leakage problem varies free samples levitra according to the actual cause and severity of problem. Abby is an independent professional photographer who isn’t sure she wants to settle down, get married and be a wife. Adam is a park ranger returned home after a failed marriage who has made his grandfather’s house his home. He’s happy to be back in Florida and has no desire to leave. However, he might be willing to get married again.

When Abby sneaks out in the restricted area for more pictures and finds a buried body, she soon becomes another target for the murderer. The author emphasizes her characters’ personal strengths as they deal with this danger. They don’t flinch; they try to figure out who the killer is. Abby and Adam stick together and it makes it harder to ignore their attraction to each other.

The story moves fast, with the author adds some nice bird knowledge to it, and the romance keeps advancing as you zip along waiting to see who would have murdered a councilmember (I sure wanted to a few times in my last job!). Why not grab a copy of this and have a nice beach read?

But while everything else goes smoothly, her own wedding plans start to sink right before her eyes. One way or the other, Sherilyn is determined to make this wedding work—until the latest development threatens to call the whole thing off. Is it possible that Sherilyn is allergic to her fiancé?

Always the Wedding Planner, Never the Bride, is the second book in the Emma Rae Creation series, but stands alone well if you haven’t read the first book of the series. This is not a fast paced read…in fact at times it is a bit slow. Don’t take me wrong, I enjoyed this book, because I was in the mood to be carried along with the light-hearted read.

Initially, there are a few too many occasions when I was catapulted out of the story while I tried to work out word choices and sentence constructions. On the other hand there is some wonderful phrasing, such as: ‘…wearing a fine Italian suit, polka-dotted with rain-drops.’

Ms Bricker plants her heroine, Sherilyn, in a new job back in her home town and skilfully threads in a back-story mystery which you know is going to come back and bite her heroine. It’s the way she achieves this that delights and surprises.

The author gives her hero, Andrew Drummond IV, and Sherilyn plenty of insecurities they both have to work through, sometimes alone and at others as a team, learning to strengthen their relationship. It is the way Ms. Bicker balances the inner and outer conflicts of her main characters and brings in a huge cast of secondary characters to help move the story forward.

After reading Always the Wedding Planner, Never the Bride, I will happily go looking for the first book in the series and keep my eye out for the next one.

Plucky, seventeen-year-old Melba was raised like a boy to pick pockets and run messages in the poor outer circles of Royal Malverne Isle, but she longs to move up the criminal hierarchy and become a spy. When nineteen-year-old Turk, a spymaster and local folk hero, accepts her pledge to join his gang, she thinks the Great Earth Jinn has heard her prayer. With his exotic, dark southern looks and wealthy lifestyle in the inner circle, Turk fascinates her. Yet he is not what he seems—he is really a monk working undercover for the Shining Brotherhood. The Brotherhood has secret plans for Melba, plans that make her a target of the evil Royal Victualler’s foul magic, plans that challenge Melba and Turk’s beliefs about life and duty, plans that tear them apart, just as they discover what it means to fall in love.

Melba is a perfect Cinderella-type character. Stolen as a child and hidden in poverty, she’s been raised as a pick-pocket and told to pretend she’s a boy. She’s cunning yet innocent, pretty (though camouflaged with dirt), resilient, and completely unaware that she’s a princess. She is easy to root for. Once her basic needs are taken care of and she’s able to accept her femininity, her focus naturally turns to matters of the heart. She doesn’t care about being Royal. People are what matter. She’d happily give up everything for love.

Master Turk is at once Spy Master and apprentice. He’s handsome, resourceful, magically gifted and bright, but not always wise. Those he’s most loyal to are not necessarily deserving of that loyalty. He’s been raised to be obedient while breaking the law. He’s a monk attracted to the thief he’s charged with transforming into the Royal Princess. Vittorio, the Royal Victualler, lusts for power. Denied a father’s love as a child, he can’t seem to stop desperately seeking his father’s recognition as an adult. The past has taught him the being good doesn’t work, so now he embraces evil. There are moments when Vittorio seems almost human, but mostly he’s been corrupted by the dark powers he tries to harness to achieve recognition, power and glory. However, the respect and adulation he strives for continues to remain just out of his grasp.

The world Helen Scott Taylor created is rich and fascinating. It’s a world of Garbage Kings, the Shining Brotherhood, Foul Jinns, and clockwork creatures animated by apple spirits. I was drawn in almost immediately. Melba and Turk are engaging characters and Turk’s conflict is compelling.

My only real complaint? The prologue is a bit of a spoiler. It makes the story too predictable and isn’t necessary. I’d recommend reading it at the end or not at all.

Despite that, A Clockwork Fairytale is a sweet, fast, fun read perfect for the YA market. I’d give this book to my twelve-year-old daughter without hesitation, knowing she’d love it.

The author uses the grandfather’s video skills and comic drawings to introduce the dragon to the world and keep the officials from confiscating the dragon. I thought that was pretty inventive and added to the story.

A veterinary assistant, Holly loves animals almost as much as she loves Christmas, and when a scowling stranger storms into the clinic with a shivering bunny cradled in his arms, her heart goes out to them both.

The blizzard traps Matt and Holly together in the clinic. With the help of a mischievous bunny and a quart of her special Christmas Eggnog, Holly proves to Matt that with enough Christmas spirit anything is possible…even love.

A Christmas Surprise {contemporary romance} by Jane Toombs (Dame Turquoise): The unexpected return of a long-lost daughter brings a miraculous surprise.

How do you know it is Christmas time? Is it the smell of your tree, the egg nog, mistletoe or holly? Each of these stories is based on a Christmas theme, but the characters here find love…

The authors in this anthology do a very good job of describing the scene the story is set in. The stories are short, but each reads well and has enough detail to flesh the story out. The first story is an updated version of O. Henry’s Gift of the Magi, which is a story I’ve always loved. This fresh look at an old story is done very well, and will make you smile before the end. Real love is hard to find, but this couple has it.

Wings in Love was a fun read. Take a cowboy who works construction and mix him with an interior decorator and then add true love. Watching these two misunderstand each other will make you laugh and comment out loud.

A Christmas Surprise is truly a unique story. The author takes a devastating loss (a kidnapped child) and a guilty sister who runs away from home and turns it into a positive story with a happy ending. It gets your blood running while you read about the main character’s adventures and troubles. And you aren’t sure just how the ending is going to work out… You won’t be bored.

Mistletoe and Holly was my favorite story in the group. Meet a modern day Scrooge who gets snowbound in the vet clinic with one of Santa’s elves. Yes, it’s funny. And, yes, he mellows out a bit.

None of these stories disappoint. All the authors write well and choose interesting situations. Why not pick up a copy for yourself and read it by fire while drinking hot chocolate (or maybe a bit of eggnog)? You won’t regret it!
