Usually when reading these types of books I can pick what influenced the author’s plotline whether it be a movie or another author. I can actually say I did not see that here, which I have not been able to say in a long time. The author’s plot is genuinely her own brain at work. Let me tell you it was great work.

This is the first of the Wolf Creek Series I have read. And I most definitely plan on going back and getting the others. So if you are looking for a werewolf story refreshingly different from the others you would enjoy this story.

Lina is a strong woman and at times overpowers her dragon mates’ characters. At one point I even imagined them looking like reprimanded children, relegated to the third row of seats while she and Zack were sitting in the front, rather than Fire and Ice breathing Alpha shifters. I found myself wanting them to be more assertive when dealing with Lina’s mood swings and outbursts rather than deferring to Zack as her “Princess Prozac”. At the same time her history with Zack does lend itself to giving him insight into dealing with Lina.

Ms. Dalton states at the front of the book that Steam is a stand alone story, and she’s correct, but you get a better understanding of the main characters if you start with Boiling Point (available in the Tasty Treats Vol. 3 Anthology). As a single story I would give Steam 3 Cherries.

Although the paranormal elements were odd (I wasn’t expecting them in a cowboy romance), and there is a lot of tragedy that occurs to our protagonists along the journey (to the point you wonder how much more they can possibly bear), it is definitely something different, so I can attest that this isn’t something you’d expect by the cover or blurb.

Cowboy fans who like a lot of emotion and a dash of the paranormal, pencil Wild Rodeo Nights onto your TBR list. This is one of those stories that are more than what they seem, on the surface and inside the pages.

There were moments when the characters replayed the same emotional-angst scenes that it started to feel repetitive, almost obsessive. I hate filler-just-to-reach-word-count. If the story works better tighter, albeit shorter, then do it.

That being said, the chemistry was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the interactions between Nico and Danni and felt that the statues were a cool twist. While, I still don’t get the dragon in the title I do recommend this book and give it a solid 4 cherries.

The reader plunges head first into this story and it does not let go until the end. The dialogue is fast-paced from the beginning. This is a book I highly recommend you read. I just can’t wait to go back and read the first book, as well as any new additions that may come along.

Ms. Glenn does a wonderful job telling the story of the love between Zac and Devlin and the obstacles they face. It isn’t easy, but it’s beautiful and worth it. The scenes between these men are so loving and tender that you fall in love with them just as they fall for each other. I love how they start calling each other “my prince” and “my darling” so early in the story. Despite the misunderstandings and miscommunications they truly do care for each… they just have to work their way back to it.

This is my first Wolf Creek Pack book and I will definitely be picking up the rest of them as soon as possible. You cannot go wrong with this book.
