When Aden, Leo and Cassie start to loosen up, the fun really begins. I loved that none of these three were what they appeared to be. I loved how Ms. Armstrong managed to break the stereotypes and made these people just plain people, with fears and insecurities just like all of us. When things didn’t seem to be working out, I was a bit disappointed. I wasn’t sure how it would end. But the twist at the end made it all worthwhile. Although this is the first in the series I have read, I didn’t have any problems getting acquainted with the characters or absorbing their history. Marie Harte has done an excellent job filling in any potential blanks without padding the story. So if you dive in like I did – in the middle – don’t worry. A previous understanding or back history isn’t absolutely necessary. Just be prepared. If you like Derrick as much as I did, you’re likely to buy the first two anyway, and might as well enjoy the set from start to finish.

All of the characters are wonderfully presented, but the focus remains centered on the main protagonists: the powerful and intimidating Circ, Derrick Packard, and the woman that may not be wholly human, Sabrina Torrence. The interactions between them are combustive and scorching, creating some of the most sizzling pages you’re likely to read. They are both incredibly memorable, and will remain on the brain long after you’ve finished reading.

Another aspect of this series I admired was Marie’s ability to bring additional sexual partners into pivotal scenes without making it feel forced or awkward. I’ve read material in the past in which similar circumstances tear the newly formed foundation of the protagonists apart. In this, it brings them closer together. You get the whole Alpha male, Alpha female scenario here, but you also get a bigger vision of the unit they create as a whole.

A thoroughly enjoyable read, Circe’s Recruits: Derrick is something I’d recommend to those that like a slathering of sci-fi combined with intrigue and suspense, intense and memorable men, feisty and kick-ass women, and tons of heat!

Willing though I was, I could not suspend sufficient disbelief to accept that a research university would permit such a heavy-handed and lascivious board of directors to behave as Ms. Rylon would have us believe. The regular intrusion of this “no way” reaction was the only detraction from an otherwise steamy and charming plot, and is the only thing keeping this reviewer from finding this a 5-book read. The notion of the “experiment” might have worked better in a different context – perhaps aliens studying humans – than with a modern professor and female graduate student.

Dr. Luke Malone, the only other character with a meaningful role in this story, was attractive and likeable, and I hope we get to see his story someday. Dream Machine kept me reading late into the night and Ms. Rylon is now an autobuy for me. If you like hot sex, handsome men and feisty heroines, Dream Machine is the book for you!

Lost and alone, she suffers through a Halloween party thrown by Eve and her fiancé, Stephen. Just when she thinks Halloween is going to be a bust, Marcus Moravius appears. She’s a broken and defeated woman while he’s a man out of time and place. Together, they begin to mend their emotional wounds while sparking more than a few fireworks of their own. They’re my favorite couple because they’re probably the closest to what I can relate to. His family was destroyed by a madman; hers by her ex. They are proof that time and love can heal all wounds.

Vampire Kisses is an outrageously steamy and fun collection of short vampire stories. Probably the best part of these holiday-themed stories is that they are all interconnected with one another and follow a timeline that parallels the holidays being celebrated. It makes for a cohesive and enjoyable read. An added benefit is that it seems more like you’re reading three chapters of one story instead of three separate pieces. So, if you’re in the mood for a sexy and fun vampire short, this collection of shorts will certainly satisfy your cravings.

Two men were so similar, yet so different at the same time and very intriguing. I liked the curse and the means by which to extinguish it. The story kept me on the edge of my seat until the last page because of the crafty way that the author wove the plot.

On top of that, twin werewolves Jarod and Ronan Dakota are coming along to protect her back so getting in and out should be a breeze. If she just stays focused on her mission, she won’t have to acknowledge the attraction she feels for the brothers and try to to pick one over the other.

Only Jarod and Ronan have no intention of making her choose. Where one werewolf is nice, two are so much better.

Liana Everton is one of the strongest witches in the coven. She is trying to convince the leaders to allow her to travel to the demon realm, to find the Book of Shadows that was stolen from Ava, the princess, and granddaughter of the high priestess Mayda, to aid them in the battle ahead, and give them the edge they so sorely need. She feels she should go, because it was Ava’s cousin Dina who stole the book, and Dina has joined the demons in the battle between good and evil. Ava is too important to the cause to be risked, and Liana is the most powerful after Ava. Once the decision is made to allow Liana to go, twin werewolves Jarod and Ronan Dakota are chosen to accompany her on the crossover as bodyguards.

Liana knows she needs to focus on the task ahead, because it will be dangerous to become distracted in the demon realm. She also doesn’t want to think about the twins, as she is attracted to them, and doesn’t want to choose between them. What she doesn’t realize is that the choice is out of her hands: she will be theirs-both of theirs. I love her sense of humor, and I thank her on behalf of all of the readers of romance who are less than perfect. Liana is a plus sized heroine, and makes few apologies for it. And the fact that she decides to go in spite of the “yellow streak that ran all the way down her back” is just great. This is not a brave and invincible heroine, but one who knows she must do what is needed in spite of her fears. And once the twins claim Liana, the heat kicks up to blazing hot. I wouldn’t mind a set of werewolf twins in my bed, either.

I loved this book, and can’t wait for the next installment to see whose story is told next.
