Three photos of three unknown women. Sent to Deputy Chief Jess Harris by the Player, one of the world’s most sadistic killers. The Player is taunting her, and Jess is more than ready to take on his challenge. Only one thing could distract her from the Player’s deadly game: the appearance of a clue to long-unsolved cases. For years Birmingham’s children were vanishing-one per year, always on a full moon-until the disappearances stopped and the Man in the Moon case went cold. No leads on the children were ever found-until now.

Someone is reaching out to her, sending her mementos of the missing children, and the citizens of Birmingham deserve justice. But after years of silence, has the Man in the Moon really resurfaced? Or is he just another pawn in the Player’s game?

A package with pictures of unidentified women arrives bearing Jess’ name, sending all of Birmingham PD on a chase to discover who they are – and just which one The Player has taken for his own game. As if that isn’t enough, a killer long believed to be dormant has started to kill again. Will Jess be able to keep herself safe from the serial killer out to get his hands on her and solve the case of the Man in the Moon at the same time? Only time will tell. But one thing is for certain, Jess Harris had better watch out because The Player has returned and is up to no good!

I’ve mentioned this before but I have a bit of a twisted love for Eric Spears. Yes, he’s the bad guy and yes, he does an awful lot of gory evil. And yet, there’s just something that draws me to him. It might be the way he’s so playful with Jess while he taunts her or it might just be me waiting for him to make that one mistake that gets him caught. Either way, it shows exactly how talented a writer the author is. After all, she did just make me fall a little in love with a sadistic SOB, didn’t she?

This is the book I’ve been waiting for however, and not just because of the return of The Player, Eric Spears. In this sixth installment of the Faces of Evil series, Jess and Dan finally manage to find some common ground on her safety and her independence. The couple makes some real progress in their relationship here and neither really has to give up much of themselves to do so. It gives me great hope for the next novel.

Ruthless gives us the return of Eric Spears as well as another double layered story keeping us on the edge of our seats. I don’t know how the author manages to pile more suspense and tension into each novel, but I love that she’s able to do so. I’m not sure if another series has ever captured me like this one has, they have become an addiction that I’m more than happy to feed and feed often.

Brilliant scholar Genevieve Barrett knows how to keep a secret. Her identity as the author of her father’s academic articles has always been her greatest deception—until a charming housebreaker tries to steal the mysterious Harmsworth Jewel from her. She doesn’t reveal that she recognizes her father’s devastatingly handsome new student as the thief himself. For Genevieve, this will be the most seductive secret of all…

Sir Richard Harmsworth has been living a lie, maintaining a rakish façade to show society that he doesn’t care about his status as a bastard. Yet long haunted by his unknown father’s identity, Richard believes the Harmsworth Jewel will confirm his claim as the rightful heir. But when Richard sets out to seduce the bookworm who possesses the stone, he instead falls for its beautiful owner. But even as she steals Richard’s heart, Genevieve will be in greater danger than her coveted treasure…

The ton is a vicious circle, and Sir Richard Harmsworth would do anything to stop the gossip mill from running. Even if it means seducing an innocent scholar.

Sir Richard decided to obtain a family heirloom at any cost at a time he was in a tizzy over yet another snide comment made about his parentage. He sets forth a plan that requires a disguise and help from a friend after an attempted theft falls through. I think the first scene in which Richard encounters the heroine sets the tone for the entire story.

Genevieve Barrett is not your average country mouse that you’d expect from a vicar’s daughter. Having a father recognized as an acclaimed scholar and historian is frustrating when it’s her mind that is producing the articles that are published under his name. The fact that her father will not share his false credit is starting to press her ire. While working on a coup that will help her break away from her father, a handsome gentleman enters her life as her father’s new student. On edge since the burglary, Genevieve instantly feels unease towards this man even though he’s the most handsome man she’d ever seen.

The banter between the couple was I thought the best part of the story. She tried so hard to be cold and indifferent to him and he just antagonized her to the point of distraction which charmed her even more. The lust she felt for him burned the page when she finally let go of her leash and Richard’s struggle to maintain his goal made him an endearing character. I thought the addition of Richard dog was both adorable and heartwarming in a tale so full of lies and secrets.

Anna Campbell painted a vivid story of love and lies, and I enjoyed this book immensely. I enjoyed the wit and emotions that flowed through the characters. I had not previously read book one of Sons of Sin series, but I didn’t feel as though I missed anything. One of my favorite parts of reviewing is reading a book in a series and finding that I now urgently want to read the entire series. If you’re a historical romance lover as I am, you won’t regret picking up A Rake’s Midnight Kiss.

As Jess fights to keep her former teacher from suspicion-and her relationship with Chief Dan Burnett separate from her work life-she knows she is caught in a vicious cycle of vengeance. And the killer is far from finished . . .

Just when Jess Harris thinks she can take a night off and relax, a new mystery arrives on her doorstep. Then, when five of the most affluent members of Birmingham’s inner circle begin to die off, Jess and her group of officers have more than their hands full. Jess might get that hot bath and glass of wine… eventually.

I fall more in love with this series with every book. The relationships between Jess and her detectives, between Jess and Dan, and then her detectives with each other are fleshed out more and more with each installment. It makes me happy when the side characters are as real and as important as the main ones. Debra Webb has a firm grasp on this concept as well because I’m as invested in the relationship between Chet and Lori as I am with Jess and Dan.

Jess and Dan still struggle throughout this novel, partly because they’re still working out all the kinks involved with balancing a working relationship with a romantic one. But the bigger problem is he’s a bit too old fashioned for her tastes and she’s much too hardheaded for his. But it works, despite their arguing and frustration, because that’s real life for you. I think that, while neither will ever completely give in and give the other everything they want, they will eventually figure out what works for them and be happy.

Each novel in the Faces of Evil series ends with a cliffhanger and takes off from the moment you pick up the next. Revenge is no different. It is another action packed, race against time and evil for Jess Harris and her band of detectives. Debra Webb is a master at mixing intense situations, dramatic events and steamy romance into one storyline. I finish each novel begging for the next to arrive as quickly as possible.

Written with the same witty humor as the other novels within the Deep in the Heart of Texas setting, this one lacked the normal three dimensional characterization that I’ve come to know in Ms. Lane’s novels. It still had a lot of fun and humor, but the characters fell just a bit flat for me. The conflicts didn’t feel as strong, and at times, I also found myself skimming some of the pages. I enjoyed the story, loved the attraction between Jenna and Beau, but had hoped for a little more depth to them.

Still, the overall story had my emotions all over the place. I laughed, I got mad, I wanted to tear up a few times, and that’s what kept me rooting for everyone to their HEA. Romantics everywhere have been enthralled by Emily Bronte’s classic novel of the tragic love between beautiful, spirited Catherine Earnshaw and dark, brooding Heathcliff. The restrained desire between these two star-crossed lovers has always smoldered on the page. And now it ignites into an uncontrollable blaze. In WUTHERING NIGHTS, writer I.J. Miller reimagines this timeless story to reveal the passion between Catherine and Heathcliff–in all its forbidden glory.

Set against the stark, raw beauty of the English moors, Heathcliff, an abandoned orphan, recognizes his soulmate in wild, impulsive Catherine, the only woman who can tame his self-destructive nature. And Catherine cannot deny the all-consuming desire she feels for him, despite his low birth. Together they engage in a fiery affair–one that will possess them, enslave them, and change their destinies forever…

Men are likely to lose generic cialis online appalachianmagazine.com sex power due to various reasons like sanitary lifestyle, physical and psychological reasons. Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff are star crossed lovers doomed to collide and drift apart due to their flawed and selfish natures. In reading Wuthering Nights, I was pleasantly surprised to find the original flavor of the book had not changed, but the additional erotic content held true to the time in history and the language used.  I loved Wuthering Heights in high school. I have watched the movies, sang the Kate Bush song over and over until I could recite it in my sleep and have read the book until its pages were worn and dog eared. So when I had the chance to read this new erotic version, I was mightily intrigued.

The spoiled and spirited Catherine was the girl I remembered. As I turned the pages, I had to marvel at just how seamless author I.J. Miller intertwined the erotic nature of this rewrite with the classic version of events. Cathy was a spiteful girl that sprang at bright and shiny new things like a magpie with a new coin. As she chooses Edgar over the brooding Heathcliff and tragedy takes its toll on everyone involved, I marveled at the depths of degradation that found their way into this tale, and that I was as riveted by it as I was.

Not only has I.J. Miller captured the essence of the original heartbreak of this book, he gave me many sleepless nights dreaming about Wuthering Heights and The Grange. Erotic, toe curling action interwoven with the story brought a new vibrancy to this already well loved tale and now I can’t think of one without superimposing the other. This was no meek story that snored along like some erotic classics I have read in the past. Oh no. This one will have you clutching a bottle of ice water and gasping for air. The sex scenes are scorching and offer a deeper insight into the characters and their motivations. It is raw, visceral, full of psychological elements that delve deep into the minds of the characters and make you question your own reactions to what you are reading. Simply put, this is erotica for the intellectual.

Heathcliff’s character is true to form. He is a brute, through and through. I.J. Miller takes it up a notch and makes him a complete sexual dominant with a penchant for cruelty, unrestrained manipulation and dysfunctional lust. His dalliance with Nelly was a sultry awakening. His fixation on Catherine was an epic erotic adventure filled with domination, submission and a passion that would not die. I had always wondered about the things that happened behind the scenes and this novel gives us an unflinching look into the simmering darkness that is Heathcliff.

There are some dark points in the story worth mentioning. Dungeon scenes of questionable consent could be a trigger for some readers. Degradation that goes beyond the safe, sane and consensual BDSM that we see today is part of the dark side of Heathcliff that is both reprehensible and at the same time gave me the same kind of feeling I get when I watch a particularly graphic horror movie. I can’t stop watching, but it raises the hair on my arms. *shiver* There are some anal play scenarios that involve rimming and beyond that may offend some readers.

Romantic as well as cruel, this erotic retelling of Wuthering Heights is a beautiful and scorching hot erotic novel that will haunt my dreams and have me reaching for it again and again.

Jake Conway is good with his hands. A veterinarian known for his gentle touch, he’s also the most eligible bachelor in Wyoming. But like any wild animal, Jake longs to roam free . . . until a sultry redhead with a smile from here to heaven turns up in town.

When her estranged father dies, Meg Stanford inherits his rustic ranch-and all the painful memories that come with it. She’s determined to settle the estate and face down the ghosts of her past. But a series of midnight break-ins have Meg running from the ranch-and into the arms of the sexy cowboy next door. As their passion grows hotter, the attacks grow bolder. Can Jake keep her safe, or will he lose the only woman he’s ever loved?

Engaging from the start, Jake is an altogether satisfying contemporary romance, especially if you like your heroes in cowboy boots.

First, I have to say that I haven’t read the other books in the series, and though I was aware as I read that there was backstory I was missing (mostly about a long missing family member), I never felt lost. Jake very strongly stands on its own, though I have every intention of going back and reading the others now.

Our hero, Jake, was just swoonworthy. Hunky, thoughtful, caring, insightful … oh, I definitely fell just as much in love with him as Meg ends up doing. He’s not perfect, he certainly has flaws, but they’re easily overlooked when he helps a dog have her puppies, cares for an ill horse or takes a small, lost boy under his wing.

Meg starts out a bit harsh, but it’s understandable from the position she finds herself forced into. She’s a little lost, sad and angry and finds herself bother sister and surrogate mother to a brother she didn’t know she had when her estranged father dies.

The large secondary cast of characters is just as memorable. I loved Jake’s family and wish I could have been there for a hearty meal at least once. They’re fun, real, loud and crazy — just the way I like family. So well done!

The romance is just as touching, with plenty of smoldering tension throughout. Jake is hot, hot, hot and how Meg was able to resist for so long, I have no idea.

While they mystery may not have been as strong as the rest, I honestly didn’t care. I was so completely enthralled with the superb characters, I would have continued reading no matter what.

If you’re looking for a romance with a sexy, sweet cowboy who loves his family, animals and his woman — who happens to be an intelligent, competent feisty thing, and if you’re fond of books that have large casts of well drawn characters, I highly recommend Jake. The title “cowboy” is bantered about rather loosely and some of the characters are stereotyped, but their actions pull the reader into the tangles of the past, troubles in the present, and plans for the future. Just about every character is on a mission of one kind or the other with few in agreement about desired outcomes.

When thirty-seven year old Elizabeth Murphy, librarian in Bramble, Texas inherits Miss Hattie’s Henhouse, a dilapidated place that was once the infamous Texas bordello, her life takes a hundred and eighty degree turn. By the time Minnie, Baby, Sunshine, and even Starlet work their wiles, not only Elizabeth but also Brandston Cates, a man who feels cursed and wants answers, are seduced.

If you’ve read previous books in the series, you will recognize many of the secondary characters, but Trouble In Texas stands alone very well. It is about two people who need love so very much. How a man afraid to love because of a curse he believes in and a no-nonsense spinster get together to enjoy sizzling sex, feel a soul mate connection, and survive the meddling of the citizens of Bramble, Texas makes delightful reading.

The acceptance of human flaws and foibles reveals the uniqueness of individuals and showcase a love for life. The redemption that comes is most rewarding.

With whiskey-colored eyes and a killer smile, James is one gorgeous hunk who really knows how to fill out a tuxedo. He charms everyone, including Cassie. And when the night ends, the party doesn’t stop. As Cassie falls, literally, into his bed, James falls head over heels in love. Now he has to figure out a way to tell her the truth: he’s not an escort. He’s her family’s fiercest business rival. But all he wants for Christmas is her . . .

Cassie pays good money for the male escorts she hires and while she doesn’t ask for sex she does require total submission. This holiday’s male attraction doesn’t have a submissive bone in his body and tests Cassie’s limits with his male arrogance and looks that leave all the women trailing after him like stray cats. James may not be what she wants, but he is most certainly what she needs.

Cassie is what I would expect in a successful business woman, smart and determined.  While these qualities make her the right hand woman in the family business it leaves her little room for a personal life. Top that with her no nonsense attitude and need for control and there are more than a few lonely nights for her. That is until she meets James, who seems to challenge her at every available moment which both irritates her and turns her on. I really enjoyed watching her grow as an individual and to realize how important a personal life is to accompany her business success.

James seems to have found the balance that Cassie is lacking to a certain extent. He knows that Cassie is a find and is willing to take the time out to focus on developing the relationship. I also appreciated that while he may have mislead Cassie he did it with good intentions. As many of us know however, sometimes the worst actions come out of the best of intentions. Let’s just hope that his good intentions don’t turn out to be the largest mistake in his life.

The author drew out some real emotions from me when reading this story. There are some parts when I felt frustrated with Cassie’s inability to accept what was in front of her. Then I may find myself laughing out loud at the antics of the characters while trying to fix the relationship or at Cassie’s families humor. I even got angry at other characters such as Cassie’s father. It made the story much more enjoyable and keep the pages turning. I would recommend this story to anyone during the holidays or any other time in the year.
