Ainsley Moss never thought she’d become a representative for the dead. But as a newbie obituary writer for the Aurora Fall’s Guardian, she gets a sneak peek at her new profession. Her ex-best friend and rival newspaper worker turns up blue and stiff as a board in the women’s bathroom—after they’ve had a less than civil confrontation.

Ainsley’s in the habit of memorializing the dead, not finding them. But now she’s saddled with a motive for murder—killing to drum up obituaries in order to further her career in a dying newspaper business where everything is going digital.
But, they got the medicine without prescription viagra of their desire and need. When another victim meets his maker with a connection to the first victim, Ainsley has to make nice with a hard ass, bombshell Detective who’s dead set on closing the case or risk the calm of their cozy town. Ainsley’s charming, ex-boyfriend turned roommate Gage Sullivan comes to her aid as they throw themselves into deadly research. Every obituary interview brings them that much closer to finding a killer connection. While fighting her new rep as a prime suspect, her matchmaking, Stepford mother is intent on keeping her daughter’s dirty laundry under wraps and her sex addicted wealthy grandparents want to buy her way out of jail. Or at least help her learn how to make a shiv.

None too thrilled with the idea of making friends with a cell mate named Betty the Bruiser, she’ll wade knee deep into a cesspool of the town’s secrets, gossip, and lies. But with a whacky cast of characters hell bent on keeping the peace, no bit of personal information is sacred. They have to find a killer—before Ainsley loses her freedom and her chance to make peace with a fate that scares her more than anything else in life.

Ainsley Moss has returned home after graduation to the small town of Aurora Falls.  Her mother pulls some strings to get her a job at the town’s newspaper as an obituary writer, to replace the one who just died, and a place to live, sharing a home with Gage Sullivan, a guy she’d dumped when they were in school. Coming home isn’t all it’s cracked up to be as Ainsley quickly finds out. Her ex-best friend who now also works at the newspaper attacks her in the ladies room because she doesn’t want Ainsley working at the newspaper. Shortly thereafter, Ainsley finds her dead in a stall in the ladies room and Ainsley is arrested. Now, Ainsley has a real motive to find the actual murderer, while at the same time trying to write two obituaries, for the ex-obituary writer and her ex-best friend.

The town of Aurora Falls is filled with gossip and weird, funky characters. As Ainsley and Gage start gathering information for the obituaries, they also gather clues about the murder, a murder which is quickly followed by a second. As the plot thickens, Ainsley and Gage become more and more tangled in the investigation.

Ainsley is a fun character, who is very scattered. She doesn’t seem to know what she wants, and I’m not at all sure what Gage sees in her. But given the nature of her controlling mother, it’s a wonder Ainsley is able to function at all. I did find a number of characters in the novel to be a bit over-the-top, especially the aunt of the first victim. And the murderer turns out to be someone very unlikely.

Mystery readers in search of some light-hearted fun and a story filled with quirky characters will find all of that in Deadlines, the first in a series. It will be most interesting to see what Ainsley gets up to next.

Who knew pet-sitting could be so dangerous…or so sexy?!

Socially awkward Emma “Spider” Fisher prefers her laptop to people, so she’s more than happy to oblige her boss when he asks her to pet- and housesit while he honeymoons in London.

But it doesn’t take long for accident-prone Spider to lose a dog, get locked out of the house, and set off the house alarm!

So, Kamagra is a fine medicine in exchange of buy cialis viagra. In the late 1990’s George Carlin began collaborating with director Kevin Smith and made cameos and appearances in several of his bulk tadalafil films. Thankfully, her hot new neighbor is more than happy to come to her rescue. But Noah West is a mystery to Spider—and one she intends to solve.

“He thinks you’re an idiot for letting me in. He thinks I’m a thug. Oh wait. Scratch that. He thinks we’re both idiots.”

Emma Fisher or “Spider” as she likes to call herself is given the responsibility of pet-sitting by her boss, Zach, until he and his wife Hannah returns from their honeymoon. Working for her boss as the cyber security specialist allows her to work from home, and she is therefore the best candidate for pet and house sitting, I guess. Before long, she almost loses one of the dogs, gets locked out of the house, and finally meets the hot new neighbor who helps her get back in the house. This is just the beginning. Before long both of their lives gets entangled in a mystery that threatens their past, present and possible future together.

Emma is a beautiful but geeky woman who loves to play games. A confident woman, who develops her own personality a little late in life. She has worked hard to have her own personality, to be an independent working woman and that shows in the book. But during the beginning the book for me it felt like she had a crush on half of the guys she works with. I mean, I can understand, all of the guys she works with are hot guys. Still, it irked me a little because it felt like she couldn’t decide which one she had a crush on when in the rest of the novel it showed a totally different side of her, a confident know-what-she-wants woman. However, even with that it wasn’t difficult to get lost in this book. And I did get lost.

Noah West is the hot and sexy new neighbor. He is an insurance claims investigator who has retired but is doing one last job for a very insistent client who wants him to investigate Zach and Hannah. He meets Spider when she gets locked out of the house. From then on, their lives and problems get entwined with each other.

Noah and Emma are very much attracted to each other even from the beginning. It is fun to see the development of their relationship from neighbors, to lovers, to a couple.

One other thing I absolutely loved is the humor in it. The pets’ antics towards their pet-sitter had me laughing out loud, very, very loud, in the middle of the night to say the least.

This is the third book in The Psychic Detectives Series. I haven’t read the first two books of this series. I didn’t have any problem understanding what was happening. This book can work as a stand-alone but I would urge the readers to read from the start to better understand.

Haunted houses, Hilarious pets, romance, a mystery waiting to be solved. What more could I ask for?

The Countess of Aberford is determined to make a match for her sister, Lady Alice Emerson, but each man she brings to Thornbrook Park only inflames Alice’s improper interest in unsuitable Logan Winthrop, a rugged man once accused of murdering his great rival.

Logan’s determined to shelter himself from the pain of unrequited love—he knows the feeling all too well—but something about Alice stirs his desire to start living again. Though they fight their urges, the pair can only resist for so long; eventually they must choose between bowing to society’s rules or breaking them…

An Affair Downstairs is surprisingly, delightfully, unpredictable. Between the cover and the title, one might well be forgiven for suspecting the storyline, but this is not the case.

England 1907: and Miss Alice Emerson is not quietly going along with family efforts to marry her off: oh, no. Alice has her own list of things she wants out of life, and marrying successfully is not one of them. She’s a very singular character for her time period. Loads of leading ladies long to marry the wrong fellow, while Alice really just wants a lover and a life of adventure.

Of course, she’s not worried about falling in love, is she?

Her family wants no part in that plan. Her Countess sister is hell-bent to be a successful matchmaker. Logan, the rather ‘fallen’ son of a baron is both not-suitable and (although interested) not the sort to ruin someone’s chances to make a good marriage. He might be attractive for a host of physical reasons, but he’s not going to allow himself to give in to simple attraction. He’s a thoughtful man, and is acutely aware of his own reduced circumstances, regardless of his heritage.

Then there is always the good man; dutiful, reliable… still not what Alice wanted.

An Affair Downstairs is warm; in fact, its surprisingly heartfelt. Readers will sympathize with Alice, but truly fall, head-over-heels, for Logan. All the characters seem very real. Each has goals, expectations and disappointments.

There is a rather steamy moment in this, but well-suits the plot and there is more sexual tension than activity.

Fans of historical romance will find An Affair Downstairs entirely satisfying.

Cousins Shorty Davis and Booker T Brooks grew up in pretty much the same circumstances: single mother, too many siblings crowded into a small ghetto apartment. So what makes one kid choose violence as his method to survive living on the streets and the other choose education? Chicago reporter Jo Sullivan doesn’t know or have time to worry about it. When a severed head turns up in an alley dumpster, she’s too busy trying to find out why all the evidence seems to point to the one kid least likely to have committed the crime.

Nevertheless, they care about each other, although in different ways. They get caught up in violence that is not of their making and Booker’s chance at an education is threatened when he is framed for a brutal murder.

The characters in this novel are incredibly real. Thankfully, I’ve never been in a situation such as Shorty’s and Booker’s, but I felt as if I were an integral part of it. Jo Sullivan, a reporter, is the third main character, and certainly her personal life is not much easier psychologically than the boys’. She may not be living on the street, but the drama in her family life is more than sufficient to cause her to take up Booker’s cause not only as a distraction from her own problems but also as a way of gaining clarity for herself.

The pacing is excellent. There are surprises around every corner and I tried so hard to help Booker find a way out of his situation. He wants so much to do the right thing, but he is also loyal to Shorty and Irma Cochran, or Mrs. C as the boys call her, who has fostered both of them in the past.

Solving the mystery is complex. Without giving away any spoilers, I found it difficult to sort out a real motive and the crimes turn out to cover a lot of years. But why would anyone want to frame Booker, a young man who is doing everything he can to get out of his homeless situation?

Mystery lovers are certain to find Box of Rain to be a gripping story, not only filled with excitement, but one which deals with some very real current issues.

Someone is stalking women and murdering them in Key West.

Psychics Levi Wolfe and Trudy Tucker join forces to help identify the murderer and stop him. Levi can channel the deceased victims and Trudy can tap into the mind of the killer. As a psychic detective team, they’re formidable. As lovers, they discover that they’re insatiable.

Levi struggles with his new, tender feelings toward Trudy and worries that she might be in over her head with him and with the case they’re working on.

Because if Trudy can see through the killer’s eyes, can the killer see her?

I really loved the premise of this story! I’m a huge sucker for psychic detectives, so I grabbed this immediately and couldn’t wait to dive in.

I liked our main characters well enough as the book progressed, though they weren’t easy to like right off the bat. Trudy seemed a little uptight at first. She has a lot of responsibility and reasons to be the way she is, so it made sense the more I got to know her and she really dislikes Levi from the get go. Levi was your typical alpha male: arrogant, so hot women from miles around wanted to rip of their clothes for him, confident and occasionally irritating but in a manner that mostly came across as charming.

The mystery was decent, though I did figure out the villain who was creepy enough to be satisfying in this type of book. Along with loving psychic detectives, I adore creepy serial killers in my books. This one fits the bill and then some, and I loved being able to climb instead his crazy head via his connection with Trudy.

The only real draw back for me was the constant sex. From the start the characters are thinking about sex, talking about sex or having sex constantly. I have no issue with sex in books, but in a romantic suspense, the romance and suspense should be more evenly balanced, and here the sex frequently completely smothered the mystery. I wouldn’t call this erotic romance as the sex is all pretty kink-free (the descriptions don’t lack, though, and there’s plenty of dirty talk), so if you’re a fan of sweeter romance, this won’t be for you.

Also, be prepared–this is book one of a series, and this book does not wrap up the relationship between Trudy and Levi. Good thing there’s another book in the series!

All in all, though, I really did enjoy the book. Had the sex been a little less plentiful and the mystery given a little more page time, the rating for this book would have been higher.

300 years ago, in a nameless world, a prophecy passed unfulfilled. A secret society that formed to prevent its occurrence believed it was their doing, while the secret society created to ensure that the prophecy came to pass wasn’t certain it had been stopped at all. Eventually, along with the mythology of time prior to the great Lizard Queen’s expansion of this world, the prophecy of Lacáruna fell into legend.

Split among three nations, nine ancient books hold the key to this world’s creation but no one has the ability to read them. And many have come to believe the world is shrinking. The indications are there—nations’ leaders falling ill, swamps drying, militaries gathering—that is, if those signs are being interpreted correctly. No one knows because the prophesied Lacáruna, a female from another realm and the only being who can read the Lizard Queen’s language, never arrived.

While on a morning jog she crosses paths with an orange lizard and, on a whim, chases it into a field. Suddenly, she finds herself under a starless sky confronted by oddly marked and strangely colored people who claim she’s there to rescue the world from evil’s grasp and expand it once again. But not everyone wants that to happen so there’s a price on her head.

This is far from the relaxing weekend Amy had intended.

Amy Darlidale is looking for a quiet weekend after a stressful week. Instead, as she takes off after an orange lizard she spots on a morning jog, she finds herself transported into another world, a world where there are no stars and the moon is always full.

Amy is a recently divorced CEO who is extremely smart and totally driven. She is always in control, but now, she is in a world she doesn’t understand at all. She is lucky to be found by those who want her to fulfill an ancient prophecy, but soon she and her new friends are being pursued by those who will stop at nothing to keep that from happening.

This novel is the first in a planned nine part series, and as such, it does an excellent job of setting up the entire world. I was amazed at the depth of the details, from geography to flora and fauna which are radically different from anything Amy has ever experienced, to the social and religious beliefs of the land.

I found the language of the land, the variety of names, to be a hindrance to my keeping everything in order. Amy says that many of the words seem to be a form of Spanish, and that may be the case, but unfortunately, I know no Spanish, so I found that the multitude of new terms for everything in this world tangled me in a bewildering maze. While I’m sure my bewilderment matched Amy’s, I still found them daunting, and they frequently pulled me out of the story.

The plot has a number of exciting and tense scenes, with near escapes, and Amy is lucky to find true believers to help her, even if she herself doesn’t think she can fulfill a prophesy. There is also a lot of history that needs to be taught to Amy (and the reader) so that she can fully understand this world, and I was amazed at the depth of the descriptions. Truly this novel has set up a fantastic and wondrous world filled with new adventures.

Fantasy lovers who are looking for a new, rich, world to explore are sure to find that in The Lizard Queen.

All of these are extremely precarious viagra in the uk to the body and can lead to severe health hazards. Kait’s attraction to Ryu grows, but can it survive the secrets he’s hiding? Like the fire with which he plays, this man is dangerous.

Embraced by Fire is a book which draws on the hypnotism of flame and the heat of sexual attraction. Ryu and Kait – the main characters – are drawn to each other physically and thrown together through dangerous circumstances.

This is a romance which revolves around a secret dealer in Kait’s company. The stakes get higher as the lust between the main characters blossoms into romance. The kisses are hot but I found the sexual scenes were downplayed and not as satisfying as I would have wanted due to sex scenes being fully played out in dreams as well as reality.

I also felt the beginning was cliché and ineffective – “Today was just like yesterday, and like yesterday’s yesterday”. The depression from the first line doesn’t draw me into the sparky and lively romance this turns into and it doesn’t put me on the character’s side from the beginning. “The only place anything exciting happened was in her dreams” was also not particularly promising for the rest of the book. Grammatically, there were a fair number of comma splices throughout but not many typos.

Ryu, as the love interest, is introduced quickly and described in great detail. I found this to be too much too quick and more of an info dump than a brilliant illustration of the character. Kait obviously finds Ryu to be incredibly attractive but I didn’t pick up on what made this man so special until much later in the story, when he’s playing with fire (literally). The descriptions of characters in movement were much better, more alive on the page.

That said, the book did turn out pretty good and I enjoyed reading it. Kait is a logical character who comes undone under Ryu’s skilled hands, developing her into a much more emotional and sexual person. I did feel at times her logical actions did not fit with her overly emotional thoughts but that may just be me and those only looking for romance could overlook these small inconsistencies.

On the whole, I found the book an enjoyable romance read, as long as I did not look too closely at the plot (which I found a little predictable). The characters are strong in dialogue and individuality and don’t match any stereotypes I’ve found to be worn out in romance fiction. Kait is an ambitious businesswoman undone by a fire eating god of a man and Ryu is a man who realises commitment isn’t such a bad thing.

It’s bitter cold in Rosedale, Tennessee, the most frigid January in decades. The kind of chill they used to describe as requiring sleeping with three dogs just to make it through the night. Mae December has found yet another body, this one on the banks of the Little Harpeth River. It’s another murder for her boyfriend, Sheriff Ben Bradley, to investigate. Only Mae’s broken her wrist, which makes helping out with the case difficult. That’s okay, because the murdered man was found near a puppy mill, and all evidence points to the owner as the killer. Surely the case will be a slam dunk. Mae’s injury also hampers her ability to run her dog boarding business and care for the three pit bull puppies she’s fostering, so she hires Ray Fenton, the kid who blew the whistle on the now-shuttered puppy mill. Meanwhile, Sheriff Bradley’s office manager, Dory Clarkson, struggles to pass the physical tests that will allow her to fulfill her dream of becoming a deputy, Mae and her friend Tammy are busy planning Tammy’s Valentine’s Day wedding to the brother of Mae’s deceased fiancé, and Detective Wayne Nichols must revisit his painful past as he fights to free his foster mother from prison. Rosedale is the last place you’d expect to harbor a killer. Now the sheriff’s department must solve its third murder in a year.

Mae December has found another body. She is out walking Lulu, one of the dogs in her boarding kennels, along a trail that a friend had recommended when Lulu finds a body at the edge of the river. As Mae and Lulu make their way back up the bank to get back on the trail, Mae slips in icy mud, breaking her left wrist as she falls.

Thus begins the third Mae December mystery, and while Mae is slowed by a broken wrist, she is not stopped. She is soon involved in investigating a puppy mill as well as the murder.

Mae is a wonderful main character, well-developed with both strengths and weaknesses, so that she seems very real. She is supported by a host of characters, including her boyfriend, Sheriff Ben Bradley, her best friend Tammy, and one of my favorites, Dory Clarkson, who runs the sheriff’s office and aspires to become a detective.

The plot has several different threads, some closely linked and one, more distantly. The story does stand alone, in that the reader doesn’t need to have read the first two books in the series. However, the plot thread that revolves around Detective Wayne Nichols might be a bit difficult to get into right away if you haven’t read the first two. While there are a few references to Wayne early in the novel, we don’t actually meet him until Chapter Nine, and the transition to his story seemed a bit abrupt. That being said, Wayne’s case is one of deep complexity, concerning issues of social justice, so I found it to be compelling.

The chapters are titled by the date and the name of the person from whose perspective the chapter is told and this allows for a variety of perspectives without any confusion on the reader’s part. The different points of view allows for a greater depth to the plot, and I enjoyed that aspect of this novel.

Three Dog Day is a wonderful cozy mystery, and a great addition to a lovely series. It is sure to offer a lot of entertainment for mystery fans.
