When a Djinn is discovered inside an author’s computer, it’s only the beginning of the strange twist Coriander’s life has taken. Now she’s on the cusp of an out-of-this-world adventure with an exotic, beautiful woman that’s stolen her heart, and is offering to show her not just the stars, but other worlds as well! But trust doesn’t come easily to Coriander. If she opens her heart again, will she be hurt or find the love she craves?

The story starts out with intrigue as Coriander, a writer, and Piri, a female Djinn, are talking through Coriander’s computer. Piri promises her a happy ending, which she doesn’t believe. Then Cori meets the fascinating Devi at a bonfire party, and things heat up, with the promise of not-so-everyday adventure and romance. The two women become closer, and readers can feel the sensuality between them, with the author’s skillful words. It’s classy and sincere, a developing relationship encapsulated within the framework of a short story, and done well.

Cori has doubts though, and talking to Piri creates suspense. It seems Cori is damaged from past betrayal. Devi attempts to break through the walls Cori put up, and their interaction is tender and real. They bring up some interesting questions, ensconced in the mystical. Dashes of visual imagery enhance the story.

Unusual characteristics of both women are quite extraordinary, and this makes for a thoughtful tale. It’s a sweet romance between women who are also friends and well worth the read. I recommend the story for a quick and satisfying venture into romantic territory between characters who truly respect each other.

Soulmates across time. Two hearts that were meant to be together.

In present day, Zach takes a road trip to Trinidad to find information on a missing friend.

In 1892, Layton Blue, outlaw, longs for hearth and home even as he treasures his life of freedom.

A freak rainstorm washes Zach’s car into a ditch, sending him back to the year 1892. Searching for help, alone and on foot in the middle of the nowhere, he crosses paths with the famous Ketchum Gang. Now the gang’s prisoner, Zach’s fate is to be sold at a seedy auction for whores.

Layton is put in charge of making sure Zach does not escape, but as the chemistry between them grows, Layton finds himself wanting to help Zach.

Gupta, who is a trusted sexologist in cialis price India. When cheapest cialis online should one take kamagra? Generally, erectile dysfunction is by consuming herbal pills and healthy diet regularly. If the improper tadalafil generic cialis position or any error condition is occurs in this neural system, it may bring bad effects to control our working mechanism. Can Layton overcome years of being on the run? Can Zach accept help from an outlaw?

A male/male time travel romance complete with fast rides across the desert, campfires beneath the stars, cool water in the desert, wild rescues, and true love across time.

This is a wonderful book full of great characterization and wonderfully detailed scenery. Zach is incredibly strong, although he is on the smallish size. On the first night, Zach learns how Tom controls his gang: through fear and violence. It was fun to see Zach stand up and he does not stand bullies. He lets Tom know what he thinks of him and as a punishment Tom held him underwater until he was half-drowned. That is why Layton is so drawn to him and wishes he could do what Zach does. From the beginning you can see the connection between the two of them. Zach sees the kindness and he can see the sadness in his eyes.

Layton is such a sweet character, he tries his best to protect Zach. I enjoy him learning from Zach that love can happen and dreams can come true. His only comfort was his horse Tam. Their interaction is so sweet, it shows how much love Layton has to offer. He makes sure that she is cared for before himself. He also taught her tricks and she will do anything for him.

Zach gets to see this side of Layton when they are forced to stay the Bell farm because Zach had gotten sick. The interaction of the three can’t help but warm you heart. My favorite scene is when they ride out to get purple thistle flowers just because Tam loves them. Layton learns from Zach how to love, how to pleasure another man, how to be brave.

Their relationship is a slow burn, each day they get to know each other and love a little more. Then there is the taboo of being gay back in that time. Layton is afraid for Tom or anyone else at the farm to find out how much he loves Zach.

One of my favorite scenes is when they are on the road to the inn where Zach will be sold, and Zach lets Tom know what he really thinks about him, telling him that he is a bully and that he is heartless. You can tell that nobody has done this to Tom before. He knocks Zach around and then Tom pulls out his belt to whip him. Yet Layton takes the punishment instead. This is the first times he goes against Tom’s wishes.

I can’t tell you about how beautiful the scenery is. It makes you want to go back in time just to see the wild west. The stars so clear that you can see them easily, and fresh water in beautiful rivers. Layton is the one to show how hard but beautiful the wild west can be.

There is one thing that I could change. I believe it could have been a little shorter. The scenes at the farm are wonderful but it does slow the story and lost my attention at times.

A lovely western novel with a sweet love story. The characters are well developed and the wonder of the west lays before you. A fun book and a great read.

He’d been sent to escort her to safety, but the man drove her nuts with his arrogant, annoying, sexist attitude. She was torn between kicking his shins and running her nails down his back, tracing that delicious tattoo.

She was relieved when they picked up more winners, and his attention shifted away from her. But the more time the group spent together; the more she got to know Nix… she began to suspect that the lottery wasn’t all that random after all.

It was nice to read a different idea of an “end of the world” scenario. I enjoyed all the characters, all of whom have their strengths and weaknesses. Tory is compassionate, stubborn, and highly intelligent. It’s interesting watching her as she figures out the puzzle of the lottery. The government had pre-selected those who have a high IQ and then those who would be happy to be a servant. The relationship between Nix and Tory is hot and troubled. Tory fights the attraction because her ex-husband had been verbally abusive to her. She does not trust men easily. Nix also has to fight his attraction, because it is against the rules to have a relationship between the military personnel and any of the civilians. Yet as much as they try, they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Tory is an incredibly compassionate women and takes the children they find under her wing. A perfect scene is when Victoria watches as Emma is forcibly taken from her mother. She fights Nix to see the girl and assures her mother that she would be taken care of. We also get to see the kindness of people, such as an elderly woman who gives out free coffee and doughnuts at Dunkin Donuts. Then there are the men who take advantage of the chaos, as she experiences. They are tasked to keep an eye on everyone, to make sure that no one fulminates rebellion, especially the lower class.

There is one thing that I think should have been changed. I don’t like the way the book ended. It was very abrupt, although I can see why that might have been done. It was to leave the reader in suspense and want to read the next book. To me, it was a little jarring.

All in all, a wonderful book full of great charters and an original plot. There is a hint of a mystery that needs to be solved and you are left wondering what will happen next.

Fatma el-Sha’arawi was an incredible likeable character. She was the sort of person I’d want to have with me on any sort of trip that might have the slightest whiff of danger attached to it. I’d be much more likely to survive such things if Fatma was around!

It would have been helpful to have a bit more world building in general. The narrator made references to certain social customs and other things about the place where Fatma lived without fully explaining them to the audience. Since this doesn’t appear to be a later installment in a series and the narrator did explain the monsters in more detail, I do wish they’d done the same for the setting. It would have lead me to choose a five-star review if this had happened.

All of the dangerous creatures in this book were described in vivid detail. I knew what a djinn was already, but I hadn’t heard of the other monsters that Fatma ran across as she attempted to find out why a djinn had died. It was nice to have such a clear understanding of what kinds of beings this character was dealing with and why most other humans stayed far away from them.

A Dead Djinn in Cairo should be read by anyone who loves a little adventure in their science fiction.

Jayden isn’t interested in working with a team who really wants nothing more than to kick his butt. As a cougar shifter, he’s perfectly happy to work alone. So why does Tuck make him want to stay? The two of them have to find a way to work out their issues, or the team may never get another job. Good thing they have enough attraction to keep them going, even when everything else is going off the tracks.

After losing his brother in their last mission, Tuck and his team of shifters have been unwillingly put on a leave of absence and tension is running high in them all. When Tuck discovers that he’s been given a new team-member and things begin to go balls up from the very beginning he and Jayden are going to have to learn very quickly to trust each other. Can they each survive what lies ahead?

I found this to be a really fresh and interesting story. With a small group of complicated and unique shifter characters making up the team and all of them having big personalities I found this story engrossing almost from the very beginning. With far more action and intrigue than I’m used to in my erotic romance stories I also deeply appreciated the complicated plot and was eagerly turning the pages way past my bed-time wanting to know what happened next. The classic “just a few more pages” turned into a very early morning because I simply couldn’t put it down.

The sex between Tuck and Jayden was hot and steamy – but I really loved the build up and chemistry/tension between them that happened before they hit the sheets. While the whole “hearing each other’s thoughts” thing seemed fairly straightforward and obvious to me, I understood pretty quickly that it wasn’t common – indeed was thought of as a bit of a joke/legend – in the paranormal world within this story. So that helped me understand why Tuck and Jayden were so puzzled.

With steamy chemistry, quite a bit of action and adventure and a whole group of new and interesting characters I am definitely looking forward to more stories in this series. I can’t recall the last time I stayed up well into the early morning with a book, and this is definitely one I will be re-reading in the near future. Action, sexy shenanigans and loads of fun characters, this was a great short story and I am eager for more.

Does a ghost from the past want the man of her future?

Callie is thrilled when she inherits a house in the small town of Shadow Valley. The house is old and creaky, but she’s not afraid of hard work. Unfortunately, no matter how many repairs she makes, the strange noises won’t go away. Cold spots appear. Lights flicker. Footsteps sound down the hallway. Her nerves are soon so frayed that she resorts to calling the one person in town she hasn’t been able to get along with, bullheaded police chief Carter Landry.

Carter doesn’t have time to investigate things that go bump in the night—although, with Callie, the idea is tempting. He’s busy working with the governor’s task force on a major case and dealing with a rash of petty Halloween crimes. He knows that Callie’s house isn’t haunted… no matter what town legend says.

Still, when her distress call comes in, Carter is quick to respond. He may not believe in ghosts, but someone is intentionally scaring the sassy blonde. And he doesn’t like it. As he investigates, the friction between the two of them ignites into passion… and the strange occurrences in the house subside. But could Carter’s presence be the reason? Callie fears that her sexy cop may be the one the ghost has wanted all along.

She’s on her way to see her inherited house. She’s excited to have her own home and doesn’t want to see a cop car behind her. She stops, he tickets her for driving over the speed limit. He’s not excited to see her coming to town. She’s pretty, blonde, and looks like trouble. And she drives like a demon. She gets another ticket the next day when she parks next to hydrant. She’s really beginning to dislike the police chief…

This author writes a good ghost story. She makes it sound reasonable and even gives the ghost a motive for her actions. She also adds some danger to the story to keep you reading. Her writing style is smooth and easy to read. I enjoyed this read.

The first thing that Callie discovers is that there’s something odd about the house. Not just the fact that it’s run down and needs repair, it seems to have a reputation. But no one wants to tell about it. That is, no one until she goes to lunch and the two old ladies working there are happy to share the gossip. The house has a ghost. A ghost from long ago. Callie decides if there’s a ghost there, she’ll try to befriend it.

With a boy the police chief doesn’t like helping her, she starts to put the place back together again. She thinks the boy is OK. The chief just sees all the trouble he’s been in. He is a good kid, he just experiences things he can’t understand or explain. He sees ghosts…

With a creaking rocker, a bedroom door that locks itself, and other oddities, Callie begins to feel afraid in the house herself. There’s a good reason for that. There’s one more secret about the house and it’s become the most dangerous thing in town.

The antagonism between the chief and Callie suddenly disappears and they realize they are attracted to each other. Is that a good or a bad thing? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

In a world where vampires exist, you would imagine they are at the top of the food chain. In Blood Vigilance though, it is the opposite. Humans know vampires exist, but vampires are under strict conditions and laws to ensure they are ‘harmless’… inasmuch as a vampire can be. This puts them at a serious disadvantage from angry and violent humans who disapprove of their differences!

This is a book in a series (which I was unaware of when I started reading it) and as such, it did have a slight impact upon my enjoyment of the story. It’s not so much the couples who are already together, but the stories and the situations mentioned that failed to have much meaning to me. I would recommend you read this as a series, rather than a standalone.

However, saying that, I thoroughly enjoyed the world-building, and the fantastic set of characters that either starred, or were supporting members, of this story. The pacing was smooth, with tension in all the right places. I noticed no editing or grammatical errors, and found this book to be an intriguing piece of work from beginning to end. Definitely recommended by me.

I liked the fact that the characters in this tale were only identified by the initials of their first name. For example, the protagonist was J. and hir best friend was called C. Only having that one initial to identify these characters by made me pay close attention to every detail about their lives to see what clues I could discover about who they were and what their personalities were like. Knowing less about them than I normally might was a great incentive to come up with my own theories about all of the things the narrator didn’t say about them, so I’m glad this was written this way.

It would have been helpful to have more dialogue, either internal or external. Since J. was the only living human character, hir was the only one who could keep the plot chugging along when it wanted to slow down. I totally understood why J. didn’t want to speak at all in certain scenes, but it would have been nice for hir to give the audience just a few more clues about what was going on. If not for this, I would have chosen a perfect rating.

The paranormal elements of the plot were handled beautifully. This was no simple haunting, and scaring the audience definitely wasn’t the point of J.’s ghostly encounters. While I can’t say what the purpose of this plot line was without giving away spoilers, I will say that I loved it’s refreshing take on the afterlife and on the many different ways a person can be haunted.

I’d recommend The Pigeon Summer to anyone who is in the mood for a paranormal story that isn’t frightening in the least.

It’s not often you get a chance at a fresh start and that’s why Zoe Maisey is doing everything she can to be the perfect girl. She doesn’t want to be the one who destroys the second chance family after all. But what do you do when your past catches up to you?

Zoe was definitely my favorite character. She made a horrible mistake – one that cost three teens their lives – but she was young and I honestly think she was drugged or given alcohol she wasn’t aware of drinking. Despite all that, she really does feel guilty and has made solid efforts to become a better person. She knows that, even if she’s not at fault, she’s going to always be the first suspect due to her history.

The others didn’t make as much of an impression on me. Sam seemed to be a bit of an afterthought as he never really gets involved in Maria’s death. Tess isn’t too bad and I did like her more as we moved through the story, but she does make some questionable choices. Lucas’ relationship with Zoe is better than most step-siblings. You know he’s been through some tough things with how well he and Zoe get along, and it’s great that they had the support of the other in this. Chris bugged me from the very beginning, but I think a lot of that had to do with the way Maria was constantly micromanaging Zoe so that Chris wasn’t put out.

The idea of a second chance family – one where everyone gets a fresh start – is a good one. Maria and Zoe want to move past Zoe’s accident. Chris and Lucas want to move on from the death of Lucas’ mom. But what wasn’t great was Maria’s pushing Zoe to hide everything and maintain this ideal of the perfect family. Families aren’t perfect. Even the best ones are messy at times.

While I’m not generally a fan of novels told in the first person point of view, in an audiobook it seems to work better for me. Although, I did find myself talking back to the car stereo more often but I’m not sure if that’s because of the characters or the POV. The male narrator, Dugald Bruce-Lockhart, had a soothing, pleasant voice and the way he voiced both Sam and Lucas was enjoyable. The female narrator, Penelope Rawlins, however, did a much better job of making you think that there were two separate narrators. It actually took me several alternating points of view before I realized there was one person for both Zoe and her aunt, Tess.

The Perfect Girl is an engaging story full of hidden secrets and lies of omission. Although it has a bit of a slow start, once the author gets the ball rolling, it doesn’t stop until the end. The ending was a bit of a cliché, but for once, I fully agreed with its use. Seemed like the perfect way to end it, in my opinion. I’ll be anxious to check out other books by this author soon.

Each of these characters is well-written and unique. Readers can clearly hear their individual and quirky voices. There is levity throughout the story—not an easy task, given the seriousness of the situation.

At times the story is silly and youthful, with young humor—as it could have in a YA story—and at other times, the ticking clock makes for a suspenseful mood. Things escalate, and readers will worry about the protagonists, for they are going up against a profound threat.

The setting is detailed, and readers are brought into this fictional world, but they also get a taste of the real Comic-Con world and its not so awesome darker side.

The Sci-Fi aspect was written with a talented hand, and it overlapped with the mystical seamlessly.
