At first glance, this world was very similar to our own. The differences between them were important, though, and they did give important hints about the science fiction elements of the plot. I was fascinated by this alternate version of history and how a small tweak to the flow of time could have such big impacts on the lives of certain people.

It would have been nice to have a bit more information about why history played out differently in this world than it did in our own. Everything after that small change was described beautifully, but the reasons why the change happened in the first place weren’t given the same treatment. I would have liked to have a few words added to explain what happened there, but this is a minor criticism of something I absolutely loved otherwise.

Anne’s character development was wonderful. She’d reached a point in her life when she had plenty of time to reflect on everything that happened to her over the last eighty years. Her personality had clearly been shaped by those experiences, so it was interesting to see how events from many years ago were still echoing through to the present day. Some memories never fade no matter how much time passes.

The Eight-Grade History Class Visits the Hebrew Home for the Aging is a must- read for anyone who loves to imagine how history might have turned out differently if one little thing had been changed at the right moment.

This is the first novel by Julie Valerie, but it reads as if she’s been writing for a while. The novel flows well and the characters are intriguing. I read this book in one afternoon. I had to put it down, but I didn’t want to. I enjoyed the time reading it and would pick up others by this author.

The thing about this story? Holly Banks thinks she’s in the middle of a perfect world and has to be perfect, too. Except she’s not. Has she come to accept that? No. That’s what makes her relatable. This is a novella in the Marks Mercenaries series and, although this can be read as a standalone, reading it after the others makes it better. Abigail (Abby) Marks is hiding from Jasper Freeman, the leader of the Simplistics who caused a mine explosion to kill her brothers so he could kidnap her to become his wife when she matured. Talk about starting with a bang!

The characters are well developed with a fun plot. Abby has been on her own since she escaped from Jasper, which made her grow up faster than if the mines had not been sabotaged. I had to admire her strength, tenacity, and stubbornness. I could tell how much she missed her brothers and how their death affected her, causing her to have horrible nightmares of the explosion and knowing her brothers could not have survived.

Her loneliness and fear of someone figuring out she is a woman rules her life. This drastically changes when she meets Vaden. He also has a stubborn streak a mile long and immediately figured out she is a woman and her identity. I loved how the characters evolved through the story. Truly, I loved it.

I enjoyed the sex scenes as they are hot, but well done. The author used them to show how much they love each other and how strong their relationship is. There is one thing that I think could have been changed. They end up in bed almost as soon as they meet. I thought it would have been a good idea for them to get to know each other a little before they jumped into bed together.

I enjoyed reading this book and I recommend reading the others in the series as they are just as well-written. This is a wonderful love story that shows that although you can be strong, having a soft place to land is wonderful. It also shows family is everything.

Successful relationship columnist Max Sawyers has lived life in the fast lane andenjoyed every second of it, but with a cranky rescue dog named Cleo now ruling his lifeinstead of casual temptation, he’s decided it’s time to change his ways and find a wife.Between his own high standards and his new dog’s dislike of anything female, this is noeasy feat—especially when the worst possible candidate comes crashing into his life, andshe’s the only woman the capricious Cleo can stand.

Maddie Montgomery refused to take to heart the nasty things her ex-fiancé said aftershe caught him cheating, but perhaps he had a point about her naiveté with men. Shecertainly hasn’t ruled out marriage in the (very distant) future, but for now, she’s goingto go all out in the name of fun. Who better to practice with than the gorgeous Max?Problem is, he’s beginning to think he’s met The One, and she isn’t going to like findingout it’s her…

The chances can never be far cheapest cialis 20mg away from splitting. This is a perfect book for new readers of Ms. Foster. This story is incredibly romantic, lighthearted and delightful. Most of her recent series feature tough heroes and feisty heroines with serious conflicts to battle and overcome. Messing Around With Max is one of those rare treats that focuses on two people falling in love with lots of humor and madcap hijinks. It even starts in the very first paragraph. The initial meeting between Max, his dog Cleo, and Maddie is quite memorable for many reasons not the least of which is the dialogue. What a reader experiences in those beginning scenes is what they can expect throughout the book – adorable, cheeky and seductive fun. Maddie alternately confuses, confounds and seduces Max just by being herself. It’s a forgone conclusion that the hero is a goner.

I think what made this story work for me was Cleo. She’s a dog with attitude and she’s a little hard to love. The love she does receive is part of what made Max such a perfect hero. How he obtained his pet, how he takes care of her and his goal for her future well-being is the driving force behind a lot of his decisions when it comes to his relationship with Maddie.

For the heroine’s part, she has some ulterior motives, unusual friends, a heart of gold and a very healthy libido. Actually, it became clear that they both have healthy appetites in that area, which made for some very steamy, spicy and entertaining reading.

The pace is brisk, the entertainment solid and the love scenes are very well written. The secondary characters bring charm, insight and a few laughs. They are warm, wonderful and full of surprises.

The scenes with the most humor that really had me laughing out loud is when Max followed Maddie on the sly and saw her going into a specialized store. He jumped to conclusions, which I’ll admit were perfectly logical, and when the big reveal came about the true purpose, it completely threw me. Max’s reaction was priceless. It was awesome.

Messing Around With Max is a must read. For fans that might have missed it, check it out because it’s a gem. For new fans, it’s a great intro to Ms. Foster’s brilliant writing. For readers who are in the mood for a feel-good read after a stressful day, this is the perfect cure. This book pushes all my happy buttons and I guarantee it’s on my keeper shelf.

This was one of the most creative children’s stories I’ve read in a long time. The thought of that there could be a special type of hero that fights boogers never occurred to me. I was as amused by this idea as I was by how Flin Flon reacted to the idea of becoming a brave booger hunter herself. While I can’t go into detail about that part of the plot without stepping into spoiler territory, it was filled with twists and turns that made me smile.

There was only one small thing I would have liked to see changed about the storyline, and it had to do with what booger hunters do with their catch after they’ve gathered everything they could for the night. Everything else in the story was described in such great detail that I was a little surprised to see this part overlooked. It would have been nice to have at least one line describing what happened there.

One of my favorite things about this book was that none of the monsters in it were at all scary. Their relationships with Mrs. Bird were surprisingly warm and friendly. This was a major reason why I set the age recommendation so low. Flin Flon and Mrs. Bird covered a lot of ground on the first night of her apprenticeship, but all of it was rather wholesome stuff that I thought preschoolers would appreciate just as much as older kids would.

The Booger Hunter’s Apprentice was a delightful adventure that I’d recommend to anyone who has ever had their nose wiped or needed to wipe a little nose clean.

Ollie Tomilson had gotten used to being the odd one out—a kid in the system, a lone human in the werewolf pack and a man who is always just temporarily visiting in a town where people put down deep roots.

While Patrick and Ollie seem different in many ways, what unites them is that neither fits into the Harrington Hills mold. But maybe—just maybe—they can find what they are searching for in each other.

If you are an Alpha shifter, then being thrown out of your own pack and going to a new one, even if choosing that pack was your choice, it’s still going to sting a bit! This is Patrick’s story and it gives you a more in-depth look into his past and how that affects his current behavior towards certain members of the pack. And then there is Ollie. He is human and had his own issues growing up among shifters. Together, these two need to figure out just what is going on, and if they can move forward or not.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Harrington Hills series so far, this book included. The characters are all wonderful, with their own foibles and idiosyncrasies that keep it interesting. I did find I missed the wisdom of the Alpha Pair this time around though. Patrick and Ollie were sorting things out by themselves, and that was fine. I just missed the warmth and comfort the Alpha Pair provide, but that’s just me.

The pacing of this book was smooth, and there were no errors that I noticed. Harrington Hills is a cozy place, and nothing in this book jarred from that. There is character development both individually and together. With small cameos from previous characters, this was a welcomed addition to the series and definitely recommended by me.

To lay bare the ugly truths, they form the protest group Fuada’s Kids. Their righteous transgressions have made them targets of both Sunni and Shi’a extremists. They’ve also elicited the concern of Fahd’s grandmother, Mama Hissa, a story-spinning font of piety, wisdom, superstition, and dire warnings, who cautions them that should they anger God, the sky will surely fall.

Inundated with memories of his past, Katkout begins a search for them in a world that has become unrecognizable but not forsaken.

Snaking through decades of Kuwaiti history well into a cataclysmic twenty-first century, Mama Hissa’s Mice is a harrowing, emotional, and caustic novel of rebellion. It also speaks to the universal struggle of finding one’s identity and a reason to go on, even after the sky has fallen.

Three long-time friends with different backgrounds have to find a way to survive in a war-torn world. Kuwait is filled with risk, everywhere one looks, and people must either choose sides or bravely face the consequences. Katkouk, Sadiq, and Fahd—the three friends in the story—dare to protest. Readers will follow them along their journey, seeing their courage, and facing the all-too-human decisions they will make. Everyone around them will try to pull them in different directions.

Mama Hissa offers her grandmotherly wisdom, and the brave characters will recall happier times as well as more troubled ones, and the advice she had for them.

The story presents a first-hand account of what it was like to live in Kuwait during the time Iraq came over to make this land one of their provinces. We get the fascinating peek into not only the thoughts and feelings of Kuwaitis on the matter, but also those of a woman who was Iraqi-born and living there now. The suspense runs high, the characterization is realistic and fitting to the cultures represented, and important questions are presented. Prejudices are shown as they are. Readers will become immersed in the tale as it unfolds. For those interested in the Middle East, this would be a good book to check out.

Many years ago, the storytellers say, the great King Arthur brought justice to England with the help of his gallant Knights of the Round Table. Of these worthy knights, there was never one so fearless, so chivalrous, so honorable, so…shiny as the dashing Sir Lancelot, who was quite good at defending the helpless and protecting the weak, just as long as he’d had his afternoon nap. Behold the very exciting and very funny adventures of Lancelot the Great, as only acclaimed Arthurian author Gerald Morris can tell them.

Prepare to meet Lancelot, the greatest (and shiniest) knight of them all!

Lancelot is a flawed, but very lovable character. He is vain, and his motivation for becoming a knight has more to do with fame and shiny armor rather than helping others. However, Lancelot is also brave, courageous, and always willing to rescue a damsel in distress. Unfortunately, being the greatest knight in Camelot comes with some serious drawbacks. Lancelot becomes disillusioned with being a knight and walks away from King Arthur and Camelot. However, about a year after Lancelot leaves, King Arthur finds himself in desperate need of his greatest knight. I’m pleased to say Lancelot is more than up to the challenge. In this moment, Lancelot realizes what it truly means to be a knight.

The Adventures of Sir Lancelot the Great is such an entertaining tale! Mr. Morris brings out themes of loyalty, chivalry, and helping others in a fun and easy way for children to understand. The book is filled with clean, goofy humor sure to bring on the giggles, but the humor is never overdone. I particularly enjoyed reading Lancelot’s encounter with a “recreant” knight named Sir Phelot. This story is perfect for reading aloud to younger children, and the short, fast paced chapters make it a good stepping stone toward longer chapter books for readers. The illustrations add to the fun as well. Mr. Morris does take some liberties with Lancelot’s story. For example, Lancelot’s affair with Guinevere is not mentioned. While this might upset some, I was not bothered. In fact, I feel this omission serves to make the tale more accessible to a younger audience.

I had so much fun reading The Adventures of Sir Lancelot the Great! I highly recommend this adventure to young fans of Arthur and his knights.

Fancy holiday meals and children don’t always mix well together.

The rhymes in this picture book were so much fun to read. Not only did they make me chuckle, they captured the feeling of sitting at the kids’ table perfectly. While the characters enjoyed having their own separate table from the grownups, I think their descriptions of what it was like to eat a holiday meal with their siblings and cousins just out of earshot of the grown-ups can be appreciated by people who didn’t like that experience so much. Their enthusiasm was contagious, but they were also honest about the drawbacks of separating kids from adults as well.

There was only one scene I wished had been written differently, and it had to do with the young characters purposefully messing around with the food on the plates of other children who left their table. Due to how many kids have food allergies or are on strict diets for other medical reasons these days, I’m not personally comfortable spreading the message that it’s acceptable to pull this kind of prank. While I definitely do see the humor in that from a storytellers point of view, I’d want to make it clear to the children I love that actually adding spoonfuls of other dishes to someone else’s plate can make some people very sick.

The ending of this tale was heartwarming. All of the characters came from a huge, boisterous family, so getting everyone to sit down and eat together was no easy task. After being reminded over and over again to mind their manners and at least try some of the stinky vegetables on the menu, it was nice to see how the adults reacted once the meal was more or less finished and everyone gathered together again.

The Little Kids’ Table is the perfect thing to read right before heading off for a big holiday meal no matter which table you might end up sitting at.

Rachel is suffering from PTSD, not helped by the fact she is certain someone is watching her. Knox joined the hunters before he knew who they really were, and it’s a decision he has regretted ever since. This is book ten in the series although you can read it as a standalone, as I have. Yes, there were times when I would have liked more information, but that is the risk you take when you read a book in a series you haven’t read from the beginning. On the whole, though, I found this to be engrossing and would certainly say it stood on its own feet.

The story itself is well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that I noticed. Some of it was clear to see, other parts were shrouded in mystery, keeping me on my toes as I read. There was also plenty of anticipation and build-up between our two main characters which only added to the story, in my opinion.

A brilliant read and the series is now on my TBR pile! Absolutely recommended by me.
