From the bestselling author of the Henry Parker series comes a page-turning thriller about a vigilante who’s desperate to protect her secrets—and bring a killer to justice.

On the surface, Rachel Marin is an ordinary single mother; on the inside, she’s a fierce, brilliant vigilante. After an unspeakable crime shatters her life, she changes her identity and moves to a small town in Illinois, hoping to spare her children from further trauma…or worse. But crime follows her everywhere.

When the former mayor winds up dead, Rachel can’t help but get involved. Where local detectives see suicide, she sees murder. They resent her for butting in—especially since she’s always one step ahead. But her investigative genius may be her undoing: the deeper she digs, the harder it is to keep her own secrets buried.

Her persistence makes her the target of both the cops and a killer. Meanwhile, the terrifying truth about her past threatens to come to light, and Rachel learns the hard way that she can’t trust anyone. Surrounded by danger, she must keep her steely resolve, protect her family, and stay one step ahead, or else she may become the next victim.

One night, Rachel Marin’s life is unexpectedly turned upside down. Left alone with her young son and infant daughter, she changes their names and moves to Illinois, hoping to escape her past and the darkness that is searching for her. Until her life is yet again rattled and she begins to believe all she’s created is about to cave in on top of her.

Rachel Marin is an intense and complicated character. Since her husband’s murder, she’s forced to completely reinvent herself. She becomes both physically and emotionally strong and resilient, being the best mom and protector she can be to her kids. That said, she has difficulty allowing people to help her, which is understandable considering her past. However, if she trusted those trying to help her a little more, things might be a little less stressful for her. All in all, I was impressed with the lengths she went to in order to keep her past secret and her family secure.

Detective John Serrano I liked from the very beginning. It might have been his obsession with the Lord of the Rings series that did it, but there was something very homey about him. He became even more engaging as his own history came out little by little. His partner, Leslie Tally, was an interesting character as well, but I don’t feel like I got to know her as well as I did John. I do hope that we get more of her backstory in the next book, I’d love to know more about her wife and kids. They work well together though, despite being such polar opposites. These two are the kind of detectives that make me want to read police procedurals, honestly, and I would have enjoyed this just as much if it was focused on them and not Rachel.

From the very first pages, Hide Away grabbed my attention and held it. Chock full of intense, crazy action, I was never bored and eager to get to the next page. It seemed like every time I had it somewhat figured out, some new bit of information was added that changed my whole perspective. My only complaint was that it took so long to get to the meat of Rachel’s backstory. Although necessary, to a point, I was anxious to find out what happened to make her take such drastic steps. I’m excited to see what the next installment in this series brings us.

Revenge is best served cold.

When Shona Williams returns to her hometown, Ironash, as an experienced DI, she has scores to settle. Justice will be delivered. What they did to her was evil.

Trouble is, she’s been thrown into the middle of a serial killer’s spree. Barely catching a breath between murders, he’s rampant, merciless, twisted, and preys on the weak.
Beside the heavy cost, the medicine also shows up at a very cheapest tadalafil online cheaper cost and so you need not worry about it and if not then you must have detailed information on it. Will her new partner, Earle Montague, be a hindrance or a help? Will she have time to work on her very personal case? And will the murderer slip up so they can swoop in?

Only God knows.

Shona Williams returned to Ironash for a number of reasons, but a quieter pace of life – and far fewer homicides to investigate – were two of the major draws to smaller town living. But on her first day back at work a suspicious house fire reveals a dead body. Not from smoke-inhalation or natural causes, but bludgeoning. And with a major festival only a week away, the police Chief is determined Shona and her new partner Earle solve the case in a hurry.

I frequently enjoy British crime stories, particularly those set in the smaller towns where everyone knows everyone. I also really liked how most of the various character’s actions weren’t just straight-forward. I thought the plotting was really strong – layered and slotting together like a jigsaw with many little pieces forming a larger whole.

This story was a delight, not only because I managed to find an excellent, character-driven crime-mystery story, but also because a number of aspects to the story were fresh and unique to me. The “who” aspect to the mystery was shown very early on, but with multiple layers and complexities behind the “why” I found myself deeply involved in the story and eagerly turning the pages. I’ve never read a story with this particular pathology and twists to the plot and I found the story as a whole both refreshingly different and yet still comfortable enough that it was like a pair of well-worn jeans. Exciting and yet still familiar.

I thought the characters were very well drawn. Shona and Earle in particular were revealed to me as the reader at a good pace, slow enough I could savour and enjoy learning about them both, but quickly enough the story didn’t drag. There were an excellent cast of strong secondary characters, many of whom were important in helping to make the small town of Ironash feel both realistic and relatable to me. I also absolutely loved the almost timeless feel of the story too. While clearly modern, I had a strong sense throughout the whole story that if a few aspects of modern technology were removed from being referenced, this could easily have been an Agatha Christie-esque story. I loved the reminder that despite the keen edge of technology and progress, at heart small towns – and people, in particular – remain largely the same as they always have. I adored this reminder and found it added to my enjoyment of the story greatly.

With many layers and aspects to the plot, and a number of them being completely unique and fresh to me, at least, this was a wonderful story and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved this exciting new mystery and am thrilled to find two more follow on books will be released in the coming month. Readers who love a good British crime/mystery story should definitely check this out.

Trevor

I planned to destroy Brooklyn because someone had to pay for the sins of her father. Instead, her touch healed everything that was broken inside me, and I fell hopelessly in love with my enemy’s daughter.

Brooklyn thinks she can end us, but I’m not spending another day without her by my side. Give up on love? Never, even if it kills me.

I wanted to read and review this book after reading the blurb. The line, “… healed everything that was broken inside me” made me think that Trevor would be a little bit broody. When I see “broken” in a book’s blurb I always want to find out why the character is described/labeled that way. I couldn’t wait to dive into the story.

I wanted to love this book. However, I had to re-read a few parts before I fully understood what was happening. Granted, that may just have been my issue. I had slight difficulty keeping track of the characters’ interactions with each other. Also this is a very hot book. I suspected this would be a spicy read from the blurb, but it’s exceptionally so. However, it didn’t affect my enjoyment of this book.

Trevor initially didn’t care for Brooklyn, but that all changed. This was an “enemies-to-lovers” story and thanks to Olivia Peters and her well-written story, “Sweet Redemption”, I am now a fan of that trope.

Forced to share a stateroom with her ex-fiancé, Caitlyn fakes amnesia to stay on board her dream Alaskan cruise. Torn over deciding his future, Cruise Director Gregory tumbles into helping her. As they grow closer, unspoken secrets threaten to rip them apart, for good.

If these were changed into rentals then additional drag on the housing segment daveywavey.tv purchase cialis would be avoided. The commander viagra drug is a blue colored tablet, which is a medicine used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (impotence). Initial studies show low price cialis daveywavey.tv a decrease in pain and an improvement in function for people with various types of arthritis, and the benefits lasted anywhere from three to twelve months. But people who can take up higher dose can go for effective and safe alternatives such commander viagra as kamagra, which is again a sildenafil medicine with better work mechanism and lower prices. Caitlyn hadn’t planned on travelling alone on the Alaskan cruise and she certainly hadn’t planned on being bumped into on her entrance into the cruise ship and having her phone drop into the sea. Even though Caitlyn didn’t believe in mystical powers like her sister did, she had to admit to an odd sense of having known Greg – one of the ships senior crewmembers – before. With complications arising all around on the cruise – including the unexpected problem of her ex-fiance turning up – Caitlyn isn’t sure whether she should trust her instincts and rely on Greg or whether she’s bitten off more than she can chew.

I really enjoyed this full length story. With a deliciously slow pace – much like a cruise itself – I loved the vibrant and well drawn characters, Caitlyn and Greg in particular. The recognition between the two – even though they’d never met before – was interesting and captured my attention. I also could appreciate the added complication of Caitlyn’s ex, Adam, and the holes Caitlyn kept on unintentionally digging for herself. With a slow, sweet pace to the story I feel this should appeal to a wide variety of readers.

I enjoyed the plot – finding it both refreshingly different and complicated enough to maintain my interest. Greg has a few unresolved issues with his family and Caitlyn’s character came across to me as a little adrift. I was pleased that they both found ways to help each other – and thus stay in each other’s orbit – as they slowly got to know one other. This helped the story roll along at a good – albeit slow – pace and I really enjoyed watching everything unfurl as the story progressed.

I don’t feel that readers looking for an intense or action-packed story will find this here, but I am certain that anyone looking for a lovely, sweet and character-driven ship-board romance style of story should definitely check this out. There is just the one chaste kiss right at the very end of the story – but I feel this style of slow romance will make the story more suitable to a wider range of readers.

With interesting and complicated characters, a strong off-ship presence of both plot and characters and plenty of conflict with the third-wheel-ex-fiance I found this to be a well written, interesting and lovely full length story.

Sometimes, the things you want in life just seem too far out of reach. That’s the case for Nikki. She wants to run her own vintage shop and she wants a boyfriend. Neither of those things seems possible until she hears about the SASS. Then she gets more than she bargained for.

This is a sweet but steamy contemporary romance, with characters to make you smile. Gabe and Nikki both have their own quirks, concerns, and foibles, but together, they support and help each other. Seeing Nikki regain her self-esteem was a delight to read, as well as Gabe’s reactions to when she was being ‘naughty’. Both of them have serious issues to contend with though and it is done in such a way to make them ‘nice’ people without giving the reader tooth decay.

There was also one scene where it looked like communication had faltered but Nikki decided not to be a pushover and to find out what had happened. For me, this was the turning point of the book as it could have gone oh so very differently without them talking to each other. I like a bit of angst but not when it’s completely unnecessary.

This is the third book in the series and yet I would definitely say you can read it as a standalone, as I have. Following on from this one, I would love to read the others. Absolutely recommended by me.

By turns hilarious, dark, and uplifting, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes reveals how the fear of dying warps our society and “will make you reconsider how our culture treats the dead” (San Francisco Chronicle).

Want to get real about death? Read this book.

I’ve read other books by Caitlin Doughty and enjoyed them quite a bit. I realize that sounds strange since this book, like her others, is about death. Most people think it’s morbid or yucky to consider death. It’s even yuckier to think about what happens to us when we die. This book treats the subject head-on and it’s rather refreshing.

This book isn’t all death, doom and gloom. There is a bit of introspection, a lot of details about her life and work at the crematorium, plus people and death. The author discusses how some people simply accept the death of loved ones, others write the loved ones off and still more can’t quite let go. The stories of the bodies coming in are somewhat gross. There are moments that made me cry, too, like with the babies. But this isn’t the story of the babies or the bodies. It’s how the author grows and changes through her work at the crematorium. From her insistent desire not to be cremated and how she’ll handle the death of her loved ones, to acceptance of the course of life.

It’s an eye-opening book, filled with anecdotes, love, trials and facts about death. If you’re interested, scared, or think this sounds like a good book, give it a try. It’s well worth the read.

I had a crystal clear picture in my mind of what everyone looked and sounded like. That’s always something I appreciate in a story, especially when it involves as many different folks as this one did. It made me want to keep reading until I learned what everyone’s fate was!

I would have liked to see a little more attention paid to wrapping up the ending, especially when it came to the health of Jarrod’s dad. Philosophy isn’t a topic that is usually discussed deeply in science fiction stories. I was intrigued by the thought of combining these two things and pleased with how Mr. Garland mixed them together. This is something that’s mean to be read slowly and thoughtfully. Some of its messages about the nature of time and how humans experience it require work on the part of the audience in order to understand them, but I appreciated the challenge.

There were times when I wished that the paranormal themes were explained a little more clearly. Peter had an experience in one particular scene involving an animal that was beautifully described without giving the audience any hints about what it meant. As much as I enjoyed the process of putting clues together in general, I did need more help figuring this one out.

The horror themes were subtle but incredibly well done. I’m a huge fan of being scared by psychological means, so I was quite happy to see this included in the plot. Peter had good reason to be frightened in certain scenes. While there were plenty of other things going in, including those moments was critical to explaining what was happening and why it was happening. Unfortunately, it may cause allergies to purchase cheap viagra some people. Hence, one of browse to find out more now viagra on line the consequences of pollution is low sperm count. When they are done well, I adore Cinderella themed stories. There’s something about a sweet person refusing to turn into a bitter, twisted person by life’s injustices, and a hero to swoop in to save the day by appreciating the person she really is. It’s even better when the hero isn’t two-dimensional, not prince-like at all. Giannis is far from a perfect hero which is why I felt he fit. Call him rich, powerful, assured … and broken.

The initial meeting between the two is magical, as it was meant to be. Then real life comes along and throws the hero a curveball. Tabitha is not who he thought and of course he’s furious. No alpha male takes being duped lying down. Even though lying down was sort of the catalyst for what happens in the story.

Tabitha was an interesting Cinderella-like heroine. She’s sweet and beaten down but unlike the fairy tale, she has the capacity to save herself. She just doesn’t know it. I have no idea what a ‘twonk’ is but I grinned when the heroine used the word. Actually, she let loose some really great lines of dialogue throughout the novel and I enjoyed that tremendously.

I also liked reading about the few times Giannis’s heart experienced a wrenching feeling because I knew what that meant. The romance had begun and Tabitha was getting under his thick hide. Corporate movers and shakers who think they have life figured out, and everything in life is going to be on their terms because they have money and power, well, let’s just say they don’t handle things well when they discover they’ve been lying to themselves. Giannis most definitely didn’t handle it well. Being able to see inside his head was interesting because he was so torn! He beat himself up for wanting Tabitha but for some reason he just couldn’t resist her. It was driving him nuts. I knew what was going on and I thought his fractious behavior highly entertaining. This was so much fun!

The plot really took off when Niki, Giannis’s sister, pops in. The love game was afoot and perceptions started to get blown to pieces. I really liked the hero’s sister. She was fun.

The passion between the two is off the charts and a reader is treated to detailed, spicy/hot shenanigans leaving no doubt they are highly compatible. Volatile, but compatible.

When I finally got to the good stuff, when Tabitha reveals who she really is, what she’s been through and how pragmatic and sweet she still was, Giannis’s reaction was all I could hope for in a hero. Okay, he did make a few stupid ‘man’ decisions but once again Niki took him to task as only a sister could. I really, really liked his sister.

There’s actually a lot more I can say about this story but I’ll end here by saying that I absolutely enjoyed reading The Greek’s Pregnant Cinderella. For fans of the fairy tale trope, this is excellent brain candy and I definitely recommend reading this one.
