Her normal life changes when she finds a jacket that she just has to own and she collides with a mysterious stranger in the local shop.

This was a well-written story that pulled me in from the very beginning, but I do feel like the subject was only skimmed. I am also hoping this is the first of a series because I am left with some major questions! The characters are all developed nicely and relatable. The pacing was a bit slow in places but then it would speed up again.

All in all, this was a great read with interesting themes, especially when you consider it is based on a real-life program. I just hope there is more to come so I can get some of those questions answered. Plus, I’d love to learn more about the Native American myths and legends that were briefly mentioned. Definitely recommended by me.

A new adventure begins on Harmony…

With its opulent casinos and hotels, the desert city of Illusion Town is totally unique—and will take you on a thrill ride you’ll never forget.

Hannah West isn’t the first woman to wake up in Illusion Town married to a man she barely knows, but she has no memory of the ceremony at all. For that matter, neither does Elias Coppersmith, her new husband. All either can remember is that they were on the run…

If you let your message fall flat viagra 5mg pretty much all you have is a really massive screen with no payoff. Before this wonder blue cheap female viagra pill came out on March 27,1998, millions of men worldwide suffered in silence over their erectile dysfunction (ED) condition as it was only one company that produces Sildenafil citrate. With Hannah’s dubious background and shaky para-psych profile, she could have done much worse. The cooly competent mining heir arouses her curiosity—as well as other parts of her mind and body. And even her dust bunny likes him.

But a honeymoon spent retracing their footsteps leads Hannah and Elias into the twisting underground catacombs, where secrets from both their pasts will come to light—and where the energy of their clashing auras will grow hot enough to burn…

Elias Coppersmith had been interacting online with Finder online for two months. When the dreamlight worker had found his ring – a lost family heirloom – Elias wanted to continue their communication in a far more personal, and less professional, manner. Hannah had gone to great pains to keep her work persona as Finder separate from her real life, but something in her urged the lowering of her guards. Neither Hannah nor Elias expected to wake up the morning after their first dinner date in a seedy hotel room with heavy after-burn amnesia and a licence in Elias’ pocked showing they’d got married the evening before. Is the whole thing an illusion – or is something far more interesting at play?

I have to admit I’m a total sucker for all of Jayne Ann Krentz’s personas and adore her writing. I have a particularly soft spot for her paranormal/sci-fi/fantasy ish series on Harmony with her writings as Jayne Castle. I’d been holding onto this book – apparently her last under this pseudonym for quite some time – because not only did I know it would be a deliciously fun romp through her paranormal world, but the plot holds a throw-back to pretty much every “Vegas” or “hangover” style of plotline going around. I love a good Vegas/hangover/wake up married and lost kind of plotline and so I knew this would be a winner for me.

I was in no way disappointed. This story is pure gold.

It certainly fits all the “Krentz/Castle drinking game” sort of tick boxes. Strong, alpha and powerful hero, strong, intelligent and perfectly capable heroine. A good, solid mystery plot. An adorable and strongly characterized dust bunny companion. Evil henchmen and bad guys roaming around. Add in other well-used Castle elements – strong para-psyche profiles, the horrid ex who ruined the heroine’s reputation and a few mysterious artifact or three – and I can understand why some readers might feel like this is a similar story to many of her others. But when you’ve found a good formula and you can make it work, why mess with it? I loved the Vegas overtones, adored Joe (the Elvis wedding impersonator) and found the plot was well written, well paced and I did enjoy watching Elias and Hannah retrace their steps and try to work out what had happened during their disastrous first date and how they got into the pickle they awoke to find themselves in.

With vibrant characters, a good pace and a really firm, steady plot this was an exceptional book and one I was really sad to finish reading because there doesn’t appear to be more coming down the line soon. I will absolutely be rereading this – and a number of the other Castle books preceding it – and I can strongly recommend this book. It stands perfectly well by itself and can easily be read as a stand-alone book but readers familiar with Castle’s Harmony world and already enjoying the other stories in this setting should not miss this exceptional addition. Highly recommended.

Eighteen-year-old Jory Pike, a half-blood Chippewa, is depending upon her Native ancestry to help her investigate one of the strangest hauntings she’s ever encountered. A 500-plus acre ranch in rural Montana is under psychic and physical attack. The ranch’s owner, the elderly Ambrose Tucker, is determined to hold steadfast and courageously to his beloved property. Answering an ad in Jory’s outfit, The Badlands Paranormal Society, Ambrose hopes to rid his property of evil spirits once and for all.

Jory and her crew of three other teenagers, each of whom bring to the table their own line of skills and expertise, have brought every known piece of hardware and technical equipment to Granite Springs Ranch. Although the assignment seems ordinary at first, and the answer to the haunting seems eminent, everything spirals out of control and leaves the team terrified. The problem is, they have no idea that they’re being outclassed and sabotaged by a malevolent spirit, who seems to know their every move.

If Jory and the Badlands Paranormal Society don’t solve the problem in quick fashion, they stand to lose the $50,000 extermination fee, but worst of all, they will allow a dangerous and unmerciful entity to unleash a hoard of vicious mythological creatures that will run rampant over the ranch and surrounding properties. Jory has no idea how she and her teammate’s mettle will be tested, bringing them near the edge of insanity, physical endurance and death.

Jory and her friends made a great team. They were clearly well experienced with inexplicable phenomena, and they always had ideas of what to try next when their original theories about what was happening at Granite Springs Ranch left them with more questions than answers. I also appreciated their generally calm approach to all of the weird stuff happening around them. They leaned on each other and their own previous experiences to figure things out which is exactly what I like to see happen in the paranormal genre.

There were some mild pacing issues. Jory and her friends didn’t discover some of the most important clues about what was really happening until the last couple of chapters. While it was nice to be kept in suspense for so long, this didn’t leave quite enough room to explore all of the logical conclusions of what they discovered. It would have been helpful to have another chapter or two at the ending to wrap everything up a little more clearly.

The supernatural aspects of the storyline were nicely written. Not only did they keep me guessing for multiple chapters, the big reveal was even more interesting than the theories about it I’d come up with. I also enjoyed seeing the four main characters grapple with a case that broke so many of the rules of what unknown entities should and should not be capable of doing. It was somehow even more fun to see the characters discover new clues about it as it was to puzzle over them myself.

This is the third book in a series. It can be read as a standalone work.

Screamcatcher: The Shimmering Eye should be read by anyone who adores paranormal mysteries.

Granted, I came in at book 2 – it’s a bad habit of mine, starting in the middle. But that didn’t take away from the book. Not at all. The writing flowed well and the story was engaging. I liked the characters and I cared about them. I had to know what would happen next for them.

Mallory is strong-willed and determined, which was great. I liked that she wasn’t afraid to use her looks to get what she wanted, but that she also had a brain in her head. She was refreshingly honest and forthright. Evan is just as headstrong and I liked him, even though he could come off a bit abrasive at times. He knew what he wanted and what he had to do. At least he was honest with himself.

The romance portion of the story, the chemistry between the characters was off the charts, too. I loved that.

I have a million reasons for staying away from Cindy Meier. Let’s start with the top three.

One, she’s hot and knows it. She lives in a fantasy world where everyone bows to her wishes and wants.

Two, she’s the sister of my brother’s fiancé. Enough said. We have to organize our sibling’s wedding party weekend. Nothing but planning will happen between us, no matter how much her seductive glances curl around my desires.

Three, I’ve finally crawled out of the hell I created. I’m not about to risk returning to it for a pretty smile and a smart mouth.

I won’t make that mistake again. So, I’m going to ignore her smile that lights me up. Turn from her exuberant laughter that brightens the dead corners of my soul. We’ll do our part for our sibling’s wedding then go our separate ways.

In opposite directions, because that’s what we will always be: opposites.

They say, many people fall in love at weddings and that is exactly what happens to Will and Cindy in D. K. Marie’s newest book, Taste of Passion. The story brings two vulnerable and independent people together who are not looking for love, but find it anyway when their siblings marry each other. It is a sexy and passionate story that had me quickly turning pages to find out what would happen next.

Will and Cindy first meet when they help their siblings prepare for their wedding. Will and Cindy are in the wedding party and are continually thrown together. They fight and disagree over everything, but underneath all their arguments, there are sparks flying between them. Over time, they find it harder and harder to resist each other.

Will and Cindy each have vulnerabilities, even though outwardly they appear confident and successful. Inside they are full of self doubt and insecurities. It was hard for me to believe that Cindy, a beautiful, popular model, feels insecure about her looks, but she does.

Will is a hardworking, successful chef. He made some bad decisions in the past and is afraid to relax and let go. Will is both charming and grumpy and doesn’t think he is good enough.

Will and Cindy have sizzling chemistry sparking between them and share many scorching looks. I found it easy to like and relate to them and I was invested in their story. I enjoyed this sexy, smoothly written story filled with interesting and layered characters.

An unwitting heir to this legacy stumbles onto its dark mysteries, and sets out to solve them – on a quest that ranges from an ancient tower of the Anasazi in the American Southwest, to the streets of Skid Row Los Angeles, and finally into the farthest reaches of time and space.

The Book of the Elder Wisdom renders a faithful account of these events, and the meaning they hold for our own time, as told to R. Walter Dutton.

Some secrets are far older than anyone would have guessed.

Mr. Dutton had a smooth, descriptive writing style that worked perfectly for the tone of this book. I stayed up past my usual bedtime for more than one night so I could finish an extra chapter and see what the characters would discover about the mysteries of ancient tower next among many other compelling scenes. The act of reading felt like watching a movie play out vividly in my imagination. That’s something that only happens occasionally for me, and I relish it every time it does.

There were times when the pacing was a bit uneven. This was something I noticed the most in the last third of this tale. It was distracting for me as a reader to move between the quicker pace of the beginning and middle to the slower pacing later on. Either of the speeds would have been fine. I simply would have preferred that the storyline stuck to one or the other.

The protagonist’s character development was excellent. I really questioned his judgement in the beginning due to his decision to investigate a case without having any training in how the authorities collect evidence or what steps they take to preserve a crime scene. Without giving away too many details, I can say that I was quite pleased with how the plot twists not only acknowledged the danger of doing these things but gave good explanations for why the main character made those choices. I walked away feeling satisfied with what I’d learned about them as well as with how much they’d changed as a result of their determination to get to the truth.

Book of the Elder Wisdom was a thought-provoking read that I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys metaphysics or archeology.

As Vice President of the Fallen Saints MC, Devil could – and did – have any woman, any time he wanted. Rules never applied to him. But while in the middle of negotiating a deal with another MC Devil lays eyes on Destiny and instantly something different happened, Devil found himself burning for her as no other. Unable to resist, he agrees when she’s offered to sweeten the pot. Will Devil regret his bargain?

Fun and sexy, I found this to be a deliciously hot short story. While the plot isn’t anything intriguing or new, I really enjoyed Devil’s strong and confidant personality. And Destiny was a vulnerable heroine who I easily related to and I adored her resilience. Having borrowed money she knew she’d struggle to repay she didn’t cave in when the situation turned nasty on her, she held her spirit and strength close to her and continued to always look for a way out, an opportunity. This fire inside her was what first drew Devil and admittedly it’s the main aspect of Destiny’s character I really related to and loved. The chemistry between them smouldered from the beginning but I also really appreciated how the author didn’t stint on the “getting to know you” time between our two main characters. This helped make the whole story – the romance and sex in particular – feel a lot more realistic and relatable to me.

I really enjoyed how the author managed to balance the usual darker, slight edginess of a usual MC story with hope and some light. Often I find MC stories a bit too dangerous or violent for my personal tastes but I found this story really balanced well between the grittier aspects of real life – poor decisions, imperfect families and facing realities – with the more romantic hope that with trust and the right people life can be a dream and beautiful. I really enjoyed the slow dance between Devil and Destiny and how they came not only to know each other but trust and deeply love one another. The slow, steady building of their relationship was a real pleasure to watch unfold and I know I’ll enjoy this book again in the future.

The first in a new MC series I’ll be keeping an eye out for future installments and can strongly recommend this story to others, particularly those who often don’t enjoy the darker or more violent MC romances.

Dagobert’s character development was well done. To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t quite sure what I thought of him at first because of his willingness to sweep certain facts under the rug in order to prevent the people he was investigating from being socially embarrassed. It was rewarding to get to know him better and understand why he made these allowances for certain people as he investigated various cases. He had excellent reasons for the decisions he made.

This was such an introspective book. While I did need a little bit of time to adjust to its somewhat slow but always steady pace in the beginning, the reward for doing so was well worth my effort. Dagobert and the many interesting people he knew lived in a society that valued taking one’s time and thinking about a problem from every angle before coming to any conclusions about it.

The world building made it hard for me to stop reading. There were so many nuances to the social interactions in Dagobert’s society that even the briefest conversation could reveal things about his era to me that I hadn’t picked up on before. For example, showing gratitude needed to be done in subtle ways in certain instances due to the social pecking order and what business and personal relationships were like between the upper and middle classes. This is an interesting new novel about Morgaine Le Fay and the life decisions she made. The worst one was falling for the light Sidhe Fergus Archer, yet you have to feel sorry for her. Fergus was an expert seducer and Morgaine was still naïve. It didn’t help that he spiked her drink. It was horrible to watch him rape her and then allowed every member of his family to draw upon her magic. She vows revenge.

Morgaine’s life becomes extremely difficult and at the same time becomes the best it ever has since she was young and still with her parents. I could feel her confusion when her prison is suddenly destroyed, and she was thrust into the 21st century with nothing to her name.

Draco has an interesting sense of humor and I love how confused he is of everything that is the 21st century. It was a great amount of fun (with some LOL moments, like when he commented on the band, Korn) and I love how the author made their relationship change over time. Trust slowly building until lust takes over and then over protectiveness. One of the first kind things Morgaine finally receives is a good meal, a bath, and clean clothes making her finally feel like a real person. Draco doesn’t know how to deal with her emotions, though, or how they make him feel. There’s a lot of growing and changing both characters have to do.

I did think the ending was rather rushed. But I adored this plot and the twists and turns that make it an interesting read. So many different relationships and watching them change and develop is a real pleasure. So, the only things I would like to see change is the beginning take off a little faster and the ending not to be quite so quick. A great read especially for those that love the old legends of Britain.
