Shaken from sleep during the night and bundled off to the Highlands by a burly Scot, Riona is at first terrified, then livid. Hugh McCallum insists they were promised to each other as children to ensure peace between their clans. The stubborn laird refuses to believe he’s kidnapped the wrong Catriona Duff. Instead, he embarks on a campaign of slow-burning seduction.

It has been estimated that only 10 to 15 minutes so that the man is able to perform at his best in lovemaking process in respitecaresa.org order generic cialis this period. We lowest price on cialis all know that dogs often suffer from articular pains. The kamagra oral jelly has been prescribed generic tadalafil canada by many doctors is oral drugs. After a while these symptoms buy levitra look at here could escalate into a major cardiovascular episode. At first, Hugh cares only what their marriage can do for his people. Now he’s starting to crave Riona for her own sake, but her true identity jeopardizes his clan’s contract. And unless she chooses to risk all to be his bride, he’ll lose the only thing he prizes more than the lands he’s fought so hard to save—the passionate marriage they could have together.

Riona is by no means a shrinking violet, but she is also no match for big Hugh McCallum. They don’t meet in a drawing room, but in her bedroom. Their discussion is neither polite nor genteel…

In fact, we readers sympathize with Riona’s fear and desperation. This is not one of those stories where a pre-made match goes awry – but where a woman must tackle life with her own courage and decisiveness. There is indeed a “mistake’ but eventually we know putting it right will end up costing both of them.

The Wrong Bride is unexpectedly unpredictable, with strong characters that evoke some real emotion. The ‘wretched Highlander’ is and is not what Riona fears. There are quite a number of characters actually, (not all human, as I loved little Hamish-the-terrier, and thought the dog a nice touch.) Though there are quite a number of human characters, the book is beautifully written, so there never seems a point where the author is juggling characters in a confusing way.

Ms. Callen offers us a wonderful historic context as the lifestyles and backdrop are simply perfect: both in giving a picture of the times and in contributing to the story-line.

Witty, fun and ultimately satisfying,  The Wrong Bride is everything a historical romance fan expects.

Faye Longchamp-Mantooth has dug herself a deep hole and she can’t make her way out of it. As she struggles to recover from a shattering personal loss, she sees that everyone she loves is trying to reach out to her, but she just can’t manage to reach back. Joe Wolf Mantooth has never felt so alone, despite living in his house with the wife he loves, the son he adores, and the father who hasn’t got around to telling him how long he’s been out of prison or what he did to get sent there. When one of their close friends is brutally murdered, Joe begins to wonder whether Faye will ever be herself again, and he knows he needs to help her. As crimes against women rock Micco County, one after another, he realizes that Faye is in danger from both her inner demons and an outside evil. This evil has intruded on their island home and violated the isolation that they had always believed would protect them. Faye and Joe can only fight this evil if they work together, but first they have to remember how. And all the while, the danger snakes further into their lives, threatening the people they love, the very ground beneath their feet, and even their home and the island where it stands. No man is an island, and no woman. Faye and Joe must break open the isolation that grips them, or they will lose everything.

She’s lost her drive and her ambition. Losing the baby has almost made her lose her mind. But finding an old fuel tank on her island home gets her attention, especially since she has to call the environmentalists in.

Ms. Evans adds a bit of history to her books, writing about often forgotten history trivia that adds an interesting aspect to the tale she’s telling. She mixes past and present and ties it up with a big bow to make it all fit together.

Faye has a husband, a daughter and a son. Her father-in-law is staying with them currently. She has plenty of reason to live if she can just get out of her funk. Joe is trying to be patient but it bothers him.

With inspectors checking out the fuel (which turns out to be kerosene), she meets with a man who searching his ancestors. He uses her great grandmother’s name in connection with a soldier who never came home from the war even though he was married. He thinks she was keeping him captive. She knows that couldn’t be true, but what was the truth?

When the local marina’s diner owner is shot and killed, Faye has something else to interest her. She doesn’t realize how close and personal that death is going to become to her.

My favorite part is watching Faye trying to figure out why the soldier would be there at all and where he might have lived. When she finds arsenic, it’s a clue. But a clue to what?

This is a very good read with exciting parts, some trauma, and family secrets being unearthed. It’s a fascinating read that keeps you glued to the pages. I’m ready to read the next in this series.

Frankie’s got to get her act together. Her anything-goes behavior is leading nowhere fast. She’s hopeful that her latest hobby will be a building block for the future. But when a stranger appears on the other end of her camera, looking as complex as he is handsome, Frankie thinks this might be just the change she needs.

This story shook me to the core. It is so emotional and so layered. It is so much more than just another New adult novel.

Shatterproof starts slow but once it gets its momentum is absolutely amazing. Griffin Stone and Frankie Moore met at the shelter for battered women where Frankie lives after she went homeless and where Griffin is helping battered women by doing the sculptures for them. At first Griffin thinks that Frankie is also a victim of abuse, but when she tells him a truth (which is that she was never a victim, but almost become one) he is already too much into her to stop their relationship.

Griffin is a son of abuse and his mother never left his abusive father. He thinks that he will also become abusive and that’s why he doesn’t want a serious relationship. Frankie is a college graduate and she is “jump first, think later” kind of person. She knows that she would like to become a professional photographer, but does not pursue this goal very diligently. Their worlds, but especially Griffin’s, are completely changed when they meet and fall in love,.

Although Frankie is not sure what to do with her life, she is strong girl and she is the one who helps Griffin to cast away his demons. She does not take any stupidity from him and she pushes him out of his comfort zone. Griffin is a dark and complex character. At the beginning of the story he is full of rage. He resents his father and has strong mixed feelings about his mother.

The topic of Shatterproof goes beyond a love story. The author deals with issue of domestic violence, children who are witnessing it and the question why victims stay in abusive relationship. But it also demystifies the idea that domestic violence is related to poverty or particular social status, because Griffin parents are neither poor nor his father is alcoholic.

Shatterproof is a great story written from a dual POV that deals realistically with the issue of domestic violence. Readers should be warned that the story contains scenes of violence without which the story would not be authentic. So if one does not have problem with it, read this story, it is truly magnificent.

Unfortunately for Jack, citizens of the Blue States are no longer allowed to cross Red America. He is faced with an impossible choice: ignore his lover’s peril or risk his own life and sanity by venturing into the dark heart of The Red States. When the armies of the Mexican Reconquista come marching into Los Angeles, Jack’s hand is forced and he heads east in an old-fashioned gas guzzling car. Stephen Kozeniewski, writer of Braineater Jones, The Ghoul Archipelago and Billy and The Cloneasaurus, brings an epic future adventure.

How far would you go to save someone you loved?

What I found most interesting about the science fiction elements of the plot was how subtle they were at first. This wasn’t at all what I was expecting to find in the first few chapters, so I was really interested to see how and when they would show up in more obvious ways. Writing it this way was the perfect fit for all of the action scenes, though, as they didn’t leave a lot of room for much else until the pace slowed down a little bit. This story was clearly meant to be fast-paced and full of adventure. I quickly grew to appreciate why it was written the way it was.

The world building was extremely well done. The Red States and the Blue States had unique cultures that were instantly recognizable and full of little details that made them three dimensional and unforgettable. Either one would have been a wonderful backdrop for everything that happened to these characters. Including both of them made it impossible for me to stop reading. I simply had to know everything about them and how they’d affect the main character.

Jack’s trek kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. It was such a dangerous mission that there were several times when I honestly couldn’t see how he’d survive his latest conflict. The word intense doesn’t even begin to describe some of the predicaments he got into while attempting to cross enemy territory. There was so much adrenaline running through my veins that I had to force myself to stop reading an hour before bedtime so that I could actually relax and go to sleep at the right time. To me, this is a sign of a fantastic book as well as a reminder of why I’m such a huge fan of Mr. Kozeniewski’s work.

Every Kingdom Divided was incredible. I’d whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone who enjoys science fiction as well as to anyone who is curious to give this genre a try. It’s a great choice for hardcore and brand new fans alike!

Josie Freeman can’t remember the last time she felt safe. Even though she and her family are freed, they’re being pursued by slave hunters hired by their former owner. When their ship is damaged on the way to Nova Scotia, Josie is thrown into contact with the one man she never expected…the very man she had wanted to see. But will her past catch up with her before Douglas can free her heart?

They met under undesirable circumstances. Josie Freeman is a house slave raised on a plantation, on the run chained to others and finds herself in the helpful hands of Douglas Grier, a local blacksmith. This chance meeting was so brief neither were able to exchange names, but as fate would see to it their paths would surely cross again.

I enjoyed Forged by Love and found it to be an inspiring heart warming book. Josie and Douglas are two people left by blood family in a world that could only see and judge them by the color of their skin. Or so they thought. Love of family doesn’t always have to be from blood kin. Josie and Douglas both were fortunate to have love and a family bond from others that have claimed them as family. Being left by his birth mother Douglas thinks that he is alone with no family. Josie is the daughter of a heartless man that sold her mother. Josie finds her way into Douglas’ heart and by the end of the story they both have more loved ones than they realized. It was so refreshing and really touched my heart the pure love that they had for each other and also how the town stood behind them when they were threaten.

The connection between Douglas and Josie was a pleasure to read. Seeing them build and grow from less fortunate circumstances gave their story a honest, and innocent love that is inspiring to read about. I liked that the author showed them in such innocence and that they waited until they were married to have relations. That made their relationship so much stronger and better that they had self-control.

I didn’t want to stop reading until I knew how their story would end. Close to the end of the book, 91% read my Kindle gave me the battery low alert. I was so caught up and excited to find out the out come, but still a part of me didn’t want the story to end. The author has a talent for writing and telling a story that is sure to capture readers. The plot, the characters are realistic and likable and the time in history just makes the story come together in a perfect formula. My favorite character is Dorothea. She is a young woman that is not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what is right and good.

I would like to read more of the characters on Lobster Cove. This is a book that I would highly recommend for readers that enjoy characters that are against all odds yet they stand forged by love.

This is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed. The description of the neighborhood and characters were so real it is easy to picture the scenes as they are playing out. The plot is one that could be related to true life events. This is an extremely well-written novel which will tug at the conscience of readers as it takes a hard look at the environmental damage of poorly dispose chemical waste. While reading I couldn’t help but think of the water problems that are affecting Flint, Michigan now.

I like how the author set up the plot that parallels to a normal day’s setting; the characters going about their daily routine set the events in motion and helped the events play out as a movie script. The fear of bad weather and how the news casters were broadcasting the threat of bad weather was played out with details that made the threat seem real. The suspense and circumstances of the storm was enjoyable and had me on the edge of my seat and not wanting to put the book down. I like the quick scene changes because it made the book move even faster and I didn’t have to wait long to catch the events for the characters next few moments.

The author’s grim and brooding novel explores the lives of the people of Niagara Falls during a storm as creatures use this time to hunt prey. The characters were true to life. They were funny and the setting for them is real. Poor Paul Goodman, he was the father of the neighborhood being set out to help and look out for all in the neighborhood. A few times I felt sorry for him and if something did happen to him how would his wife feel? They were a close and caring neighborhood that looked out for each other.

Though I enjoyed the story I was left with a question of why the monster kept some humans alive and why others were killed quickly. Their animalistic instincts and traits were those of hunters. I also wondered why at this particular time during the snow storm did they choose to come out and hunt. Either way, the monster were scary to me with their human like characteristics and features and how they moved about the city.

I enjoyed the author’s writing style so much that I will look to see what other books he has published. The writing was clear, descriptive and easy to picture the characters and the scenes. The strong characters made the storyline that much more interesting and there is always something different happening that had me at the edge of my seat.

This is a highly recommended read for those that enjoy a well written suspense that has lively characters, and a great plot.

Todd McCray, hero of A Dog Named Christmas, is now twenty-four years old and working at a local animal shelter, where he meets and quickly becomes best friends with Laura, a young volunteer. Laura, like Todd, has disabilities of her own, but her struggles are more physical than developmental. Their friendship is sealed when Todd — with the help of his trusted companion, the tenacious Labrador retriever named Christmas — trains a beautiful dog named Gracie to help Laura with the day-to-day life tasks that are difficult for her.

Life seems good for Todd, but all is not well in his hometown. Struggling families unable to make ends meet are abandoning more and more dogs, and the shelter is swelling to capacity. The local government is struggling to meet its obligations too, and in early December, on the cusp of another holiday season, Todd’s boss delivers the bad news. Due to funding problems, the shelter will close its doors before the end of the year. But what will happen to all the animals?

All this seems overwhelming unless you’ve got a loving family, dedicated friends, and a couple of very special dogs behind you. In which case, nothing is impossible.

I know this is a little late to be reviewing a holiday themed story, but A Christmas Home is such an uplifting and heartwarming read, I think it’s the perfect read any time of the year.

I stumbled upon this book by accident and didn’t realize there was a previous book called A Dog Named Christmas published prior to this one. This book also features two reoccurring characters, Todd McCray and the Labrador named Christmas. You’ll have no problem getting into the story, if you hadn’t read the first one.

I liked every single character in this book. The author did a wonderful job making them three dimensional. Todd came across as a real life character and I loved his interaction with Laura who begins working with him at the animal shelter. They both have issues and needs. I felt myself being pulled more into the story the further I got into it.

I also loved the setting, and who doesn’t love an animal shelter and all the furry creatures? However, when the shelter’s in danger of being closed down, I really started turning the pages, somehow knowing that Todd’s going to come to the rescue but wondering if this is going to have a happy ending.

This story made me laugh, brought me close to tears at times, but most of all, like all good books should, it tugged at my heart strings and made me want more as I finished reading the last word.

I’ll definitely be going back to read A Dog Named Christmas and be on the lookout for more books by this author. This is one I highly recommend you put on your to read list.

My name is Octavius Septimus Stalk, but my friends call me Oss. I live in the City of Keys, a town of gears, keys, locks, and wonder. Our forefathers banished magic long ago, bolted the doors and locked everything up tight to keep people out and the town’s secrets in. Four Lock Lords control what information is left, and everyone else is left struggling to survive.

Despite what Thorne, my naïve lover, thinks, I was an orphan, but not a victim. When I walked the streets at the age of twelve, I learned fast where to steal the best food, how to use my daggers, and where to hide my would-be attackers’ bodies. No one suspected me of such violence. No one knew then or now that I have magic inside me.

Now, power hungry men intend to release the magic for their own benefit—at the expense of the rest of the city. We will stop them, even if Thorne must battle his own kin, even if I must reveal my hidden talents and the role I seem destined to play.

A mage in hiding becomes embroiled in a conspiracy of evil men who wish to release magic into a steampunk world for their own nefarious reasons.

This story is told in first person from Oss’s point of view. He’s a former street urchin and a thief who keeps his magical abilities secret because those who have it tend to vanish in the dead of night, as magic is banned and tightly locked away. Oss is now one of the city’s key keepers and also in an established relationship with Thorne, a city guard who comes from wealth and nobility (he’s related to one of the four Lock Lords!) and whose star is on the rise. The plot moves at a quick pace, so we’re mostly not bogged down, and there’s a good balance between witty dialogue, fast-packed action, tense and thrilling moments, and sensual scenes.

The characters, especially the main heroes, are three-dimensional, smart and fun. Oss is more of an anti-hero, reluctant to be cast in a heroic role to save the world, and he hasn’t told anyone how his magic allows him unlock any locks he comes into contact with. Oss’s boyfriend Thorne is more attractive, suave, and outgoing. He’s warm and kind and a bit naive but he doesn’t retreat from dangers or challenges, and he never abandons Oss which I really appreciated. Their scenes together range from warm friendship to hot and heavy. In fact, this starts out pretty sexy and sensuous, but beyond that there’s a good story to be told. The relationship conflict is pretty mild, mainly Thorne wishing for them to be a couple, and Oss doubting true love could exist in a dystopian world. But… there’s also the fact that both men harbor a big secret from one another, so the prophecy coming to pass forces them to be honest, which creates a schism they must resolve together.

Though there’s sex in this book, this is more an adventure in a steampunk and fantasy setting than a romance. The world-building is done extremely well, it’s detailed and intricate without being overrun by useless info or smothered with info dumps. The story’s background is set by a prophecy that speaks of magic being released into the City of Locks, magic and gears colliding, and our heroes end up caught in the middle of that strife. This is something of a genre mashup, so if that’s not your thing…. For myself, I thought the mix of genres–adventure, fantasy, steampunk, fairytales, and erotic romance–was intriguing and certainly unique. I will definitely be checking out the next in the series (hoping there is one to be had!). In short, the City of Keys comes to life like one of the characters, and I longed to know more, see and hear and feel more.

You get a complete story here, but this being only the opening salvo for a new series, several things are left in the air. Yet none of that hampered my enjoyment and satisfaction of reading this tale of a fascinating world and its people. I highly recommend this for everyone who likes their established couples sassy and super-sexy, their adventures thrilling and dangerous, and their fantasy world well crafted and full of delicious details and coloring outside the lines.

I’ve just discovered another world that is so amazing and intricate that it’s created a new addiction. Ms. Ivy’s When Darkness Comes delivers a hard to resist hook, a premise that is unique and fascinating and characters that come alive between the pages. I’m a happy reader.

The basic gist is the age old battle between good and evil. In this case, vampires and all sorts of paranormal folk are just variations of demons. I’m not into reading about demons per se, but Ms. Ivy has a clever twist that makes them not as one would expect. Like the heroine found out, demons can be beautiful and harmless as much as they can be harbingers of the end of the world. Sometimes humans can be just as bad, if not worse, than the worst demon. The heroine sure found out about that, too.

The very first chapter was intriguing. I met Abby, a sort of klutzy, sweet but very responsible woman who has had to struggle to survive. She’s got this great gig going on that is finally paying the bills. One day she breaks a priceless vase and she thought that was the absolutely most horrifying thing that could happen to her. Call it the calm before the storm. What happens after neatly and efficiently captured my interest, imagination and garnered desperation to read every page, chapter and scene where Abby and Dante try to not only stay alive but save the world from overambitious zealots. This book is a page flipper.

In between all the suspense and drama, Ms. Ivy has Abby and Dante falling in love. It’s rocky, passionate and hot. They are wonderful together and their chemistry is off the charts.

Secondary characters are not only important, they are vital. Every single one plays a role and they contributed to the feel of the community, the friendships and the sense of being players on a very large stage. A lot goes on in this book but it’s the hints of what is to come that tease the mind and senses.

When Darkness Comes is a must read. It’s on my keeper shelf and it’s a book that I can’t wait to read again. It’s infused me with the need to know more about Viper and just what kind of woman will be his downfall so I’m already primed to read the next adventure. I found this novel to be as gripping, exciting and fun as anything I’ve read in a long time. Not only that but I checked into the next book and was astounded to find out that there are a lot of books in the series. My bank account is going to scream but if they are as astounding and solidly well written as When Darkness Comes then it’s going to be money well spent. This book has made me an instant fan. I really, really count myself fortunate that I discovered this series especially because, with so many already written, I don’t have to wait. How awesome is that?!?

One touch. One taste. That’s all it takes. The newly formed Shifter Coalition have solved murders, stopped a bombing and rescued troubled teens. Now working as a joint task force with the ATF and FBI they have the biggest hurdle ahead of them. Luca Perez is enjoying his time with the Coalition. He feels at home with the other shifters. Being so far from his close-knit parents and siblings he’s pleased to have a replacement family. He loves the training exercises they’ve been organizing, but when the FBI joins the fray all the agents will be in a fight for their lives. Jade Adams is a human assigned to a shifter partner. The FBI isn’t known for being accepting of the shifters, so when the chance to join the task force with the Coalition comes up she jumps at it. She’s curious to learn more about the unique people who make up the new agency. During the first mission between the three agencies, Luca learns more about the ins and outs of the FBI and worries that the shifters there are in danger unnecessarily. With missing agents, it will take the combined strength of all of the others to make it out alive.

Luca clearly enjoys getting to know the other shifters he now has the pleasure of working with, but working closely with one of the only humans who are part of the new founded group is proving to be even more delightful.

Luca is a character I was already familiar with having just read the 3rd installment of this serious so I knew to expect his quick wit, but overall good guy vibe. He is one of the few shifters in the serious I just could not imagine pulling off dark and menacing very well. He loves his job, loves his partner and is clearly growing to love those around him. He one of those guys you just know is the life of the party and attracts women no matter the situation. Jade is no exception to this, but this time around Luca can actually see himself spending more than a few nights with her.

Jade is clearly a very passionate woman from the very beginning. She protects her partner even when she herself is the one who needs protecting. She fights for others who are wronged as if they were her on injustices, which is a quality you just have to love in any character. I can easily see her being the glue to any group she is in because her passion is very contagious. Its why everyone around her almost immediately accepts her when the other humans are a little standoffish. It’s also why Luca wants to find out if that passion is still there in the bedroom.

This story was once again what I came to expect from this author. I feel like I am always saying that, because she never disappoints. The storyline is one that captures me as the reader from the first chapter and does not let go. Not only the romantic interest but the other plots. Jades need to protect her partner and other shifters from being mistreated, the growing threat to the coalition and those associated with it and much more. While this story can certainly be read as a standalone, if you have read the previous stories the author always makes sure to include some of the previous characters you came to love. I would recommend every story in The Shifter Chronicles series, including this story of course.
