The shy, studious one among the royal Devereaux family of Chantaine, Pippa wasn’t known for controversy.

So her brief romance with Texas tycoon Nic Lafitte—of the detested-by-the-Devereaux Lafittes—had to end. Too bad Pippa couldn’t get the darkly handsome, modern-day outlaw out of her mind!

Given their generations-long family feud, Nic was stunned when the sweet princess secretly defied the Devereaux clan to fulfill a Lafitte’s dying wish. But if Nic gave in to his attraction to Pippa, he’d break her heart—again. He tried to resist her…until a night of passion led to a little Devereaux-Lafitte! Now the royal and the Texan have to somehow bring two worlds, and two families, together.

This tender and poignant romance is a read-in-one-sitting story with elements that might require a box of tissues to be on hand. Ms. Banks put a lot of heart and soul into creating her characters because if she hadn’t, I wouldn’t have cared as much as I did about Nic or Pippa.

Many books are written about feuding families and a child from each growing up and somehow overcoming their differences and fall in love. That’s the basis for this tale but the author put a different spin on what brings the hero and heroine together. In fact it was so effective, it zinged directly to where my heart was softest and my emotions the most vulnerable.

The back cover blurb was a bit misleading. This tale is solidly about the growing relationship between Pippa and Nic. It’s about the hurdles they had to overcome, the preconceived notions of the past and one woman’s kind-hearted, compassionate and strong moral compass. I think Pippa did the most growing and in the process, she taught her own family about forgiveness and redemption. Certainly the power of love cannot be denied. I’m not talking about physical love between the sheets. I mean the love between a son and his mother, the love of family and the love between a wife and her husband. All of those are what makes life worth living and the sacrifices that are made to protect that love is what gives this story the power it has to affect a reader’s emotions.

Pippa was a delight. She’s a bird in a royal gilded cage and she struggled to be what her family wanted and needed her to be. But it wasn’t what she needed. It wasn’t until she met Nic, then his mother, that gave her a better understanding of just how trapped she was, what she was missing and it gave her the inspiration to strike out for independence. It’s not without cost but I admired the heroine’s character because she was willing to pay the price. She didn’t love her family any less, but there’s another kind of love worth fighting for, she just didn’t realize that’s what she was doing in the beginning. A reader can see her love for Nic grow. The author puts hints here and there, little phrases or internal comments from Pippa’s POV that showed the progression of her connection to Nic.

Nic was a surprise. At first, readers are under the same impression as the Devereaux family, that he’s no good, a bad influence and to be avoided. However, once I got to watch him with his mother, watch him as he responded to Pippa, I grew to adore his character. Still waters run deep and what Nic bears on his shoulders is impressive and yet he never made a big deal about it. A lesser man would have buckled and run from such responsibility. Not Nic Lafitte. Towards the end, a reader gets full disclosure and it will simply astound a person that the hero bore what he did. Every mother should be blessed with a son like Nic. It brought tears to my eyes.

The tears really showed up with the introduction of Amelie, Nic’s mom. The strength of her character and its influence fueled the plot’s conflict as it weaved throughout the book. It affected how the hero and heroine came together, and what kept them together. Shared pain tends to be a bonding experience between people and the fact that Pippa ended up loving Nic’s mom as much as he did truly tugged the heartstrings. It was beautiful as it was tragic. Ms. Banks treated Amelie with respect all the way through. Her pain, her hopes, her little joys, all made her character real so when the eventual thing happened, it was all the more powerful. The paragraph with the butterflies was the most stark and heartfelt of the whole book. That’s when I needed the tissues.

I liked the dialogue, the character interaction and the pacing of the story. I enjoyed how the romance grew and matured and I had a lot of fun meeting Goldie, one of Nic’s helpers at the cottage. I liked the family component with all its prickles and spines and I was entertained with the all the little kids running around the palace.

The Princess and the Outlaw is a book about heart, family and love. It illustrates what is really important in life and that historical grudges have no value or power except to hurt and destroy. The strongest characters, and the ones that make the most impact on a reader, are those that stand up for what they believe in and pursue their dreams into the future. That is what Nic and Pippa eventually do and what makes this story work so well. It’s an awesome read and well worth taking the time to spend it getting to know Nic and Pippa. You’ll be glad you did.

Alexander Lorre gives new meaning to the term “tormented teen.” He’s a newly fallen angel, which means he has the self-control of a three-year-old, the hormones of a teenager and the strength of an angel. When he rescues Gaby Moore from drowning, the chemistry between them is undeniable. With a local demon threatening Gaby’s life, he struggles to find a balance between remaining close enough to protect her but distant enough to control his desires.

As danger draws closer, Gaby uncovers shattering secrets that will lead to an ultimate choice. Will she fight alongside her father, an earthbound hunter killing fallen angels and demons, give into the demon blood coursing through her veins and join the demon world, or save the man she loves from both? The first two choices damn her, but the last one could destroy them all.

This story consumed me from the exciting beginning to the very satisfying ending – to the point that I even dreamed about fallen angels and epic battles between good and evil.

Alexander is everything that I typically look for in a hero. He’s arrogant, good looking, and protective to a fault. I immediately knew this story would entertain me when introduced to this character who wants to save everyone. The way he interacts with his not so little sister, Sammy, had me smiling like the Cheshire Cat because it reminded me of so many sibling relationships. When he falls head over heels for Gaby I knew she would have a handful with him.

The plot line of this story is the age-old battle of good versus evil with a twist. You not only have fallen angels, and demons competing but also a hunter looking to destroy them all as well as other creatures, who may not be angels or demons but something entirely different. For someone like me, who enjoys an exciting paranormal element within a story, this book easily kept me captivated. The author also throws in a few other twists that had me on the edge of my seat and engrossed in the action.

The secondary cast of this story are as entertaining as the main characters if not more so at times. Especially Alex’s sister Sammy and one of Forras’s demon flunkies, Boon. Sammy’s bubbly personally is amusing. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud when she turns into the bossy girl who seems to know more than one may think. Sammy could absolutely have her own story that would be just as enjoyable as this one.

This is a story I will gladly recommend to others because I know it will stick with me for a while. I eagerly await the next installment of the Battle of the Souls series.

He loves routine and order…she brings chaos and creativity wherever she goes.

They’re going to balance each other perfectly—or drive each other completely, utterly insane…

On a wild pre-deployment celebration in Las Vegas, Captain Timothy O’Shay encounters free-spirited beauty Skye McDermott, and for once lets down his guard. Now his life is about to take off in directions he never could have imagined…

A Girl’s Night Out (GNO) ends in an “I do”…is it Vegas or is it Fate? Only time will tell.

Lieutenant Timothy O’Shay doesn’t make snap decisions, that could be fatal in his line of work. He certainly doesn’t do it when even a little bit drunk. Well, not normally, anyway. One decision to “let go and live in the moment” will forever change his life in the form of one curvy, nature loving brunette. Sometimes you have to give up control and give fate a hand.

Skye McDermott was not raised in the military. She doesn’t have a clue about rank, the Corps or military protocols. But she does know that what she felt the first time she touched Timothy O’Shay was real and meant something. She’s not sure what it meant but walking away and not giving their marriage (for what it was worth) a fair shot wasn’t an option for her. Her open mind will be tested to its limits when faced with the stricture of the military life. It’ll take more than a stiff shirt CO and his less than welcoming wife to send her packing. Doubts about her ability to be the wife Tim needs…that’s a different story.

I can’t get enough of stories that make me proud of our service men and women. The Officer Says I Do introduced me to three honorable men who chose to serve and structure their lives around the military they live and breathe. Ms. Murray doesn’t skimp on the character building. I knew who Tim was before the military and who were his influences. I met his parents, and his sister was a pivotal member of the cast. The same with Skye. Her family is brought into the picture and her background is clearly drawn out. It gave me a solid foundation to watch how she and Tim grew as a couple. It was beautiful and refreshing how honest and open they were with each other. Tim is a bit an alpha but it’s mostly in the bedroom and even the feminist in Skye can’t help but melt when this soldier gives a command.

Book Two in this series is slated for January 2013 but I’m not sure whose story it’ll be. I’m hoping for Jeremy and Jessie since the tension was slowly building as a side story in this book. I think the other friend, Dwayne, is going to be a sweetheart when he finds his match. He’s had some heartbreak in the past so it’s clear it’ll take a special woman to get him to embrace the big C (commitment).

If you crave a genuinely sweet and altogether spicy romance with a military flavor, you NEED to pick up a copy of The Officer Says I Do. The clever dialogue will tickle your funny bone while the characters, the chemistry and sensual love story will have you begging for more. An easy recommend and a new favorite writer for me.

I’ll make a confession up front. I’m a huge fan of anything set during the Regency. I’m also an admirer of anything written by Jane Austen. And well, what can I say about the wonderful Mr. Darcy? Having said that anything written about any of these has to be near perfect. I’m happy to say Pride and Pyramids is pretty close to perfect. In fact, it was a fun and enjoyable read from first to last word.

It’s romance…done Regency style; it’s part mystery, part adventure, part spooky story about a doll that looks like an Egyptian woman who murdered two lovers. The dialogue was perfect and the pacing, so well done that I didn’t realize I’d read so much in one sitting. It’s a book that you find yourself reading even when you only have five minutes to spare.

With anti-cloning fanatics after her, she has only her wits and special ops soldier John White to help protect the child—but her attraction to John is tempting her to break every rule she’s set for herself.

John can’t remember his past. He just knows he must protect the beautiful woman who bursts into his life. But as his memory returns, John realizes he’s not who—or even what—everyone thinks he is. Now he feels unworthy of Fallon, no matter how desperately he wants her.

Pursued by terrorists and bounty hunters, John and Fallon face a terrible decision, and Fallon realizes she will do anything to save the child and the man who have come to mean everything to her.

I’m still trying to catch my breath after reading Last Rights by Pamela Fryer. What a ride! Seriously, this book hits the floor running and never really stops. Even when things slow for a moment, in the background there’s always that knowledge that something is going to happen.

Last Rights tackles an interesting topic, and one that is very relevant: human cloning and organ harvesting. With the advances the scientific and medical communities are making today, this is something I suspect we’ll have to face. Maybe even in my lifetime.

The story follows a woman who is transporting her much-loved nephew’s clone in order to harvest its heart for transplanting. From the start, she’s in trouble—she’s pursued by anti-cloning fanatics, and then eventually by the entire country when she’s accused of breaking the law. Thankfully, although she’s a pretty capable person, she has help from an AWOL soldier, John White.

John’s a great character. He’s conflicted, flawed, strong and full of angst. He’s compelled to help Fallon and the clone and he doesn’t know why, but eventually he stays to help because he’s falling for them. For both of them. And the feeling is mutual.

The love scenes in this book were touching, hot and very appropriate. It reminded me a bit of the first Terminator movie where, with danger only possibly moments away, the need the protagonists had for one another became something they couldn’t resist. Sometimes, in romantic suspense novels, it’s as though the characters forget someone is after them and leap into bed. Not so, here. But their need is great. Desperate and filled with emotion.

I can’t tell you how strongly this book held my attention. The author has serious writing skills, and created real characters I cared about. I was turning pages as quickly as possible fighting the urge to peek at the end because I couldn’t imagine how this could end well.

Truly, my only complaint—and it isn’t much of one—is that, for a story set in the future, few things seemed truly different in the world. For a world who had perfected human cloning, the technology seemed to lag behind in everything else. There were the occasional nods to science fiction: stunners instead of guns, for instance, but even so the story felt as though it were set in today’s world. In some ways, that made it even more horrible. More real. Still, as a sci-fi fan, the lack of differences between the author’s world and ours was a bit frustrating.

Still, this is a book I loved. A book I’ve been blabbing about to anyone who will listen. It’s a book that will stay with me and one I’m so glad I read. I can’t recommend it enough. It was amazing.

How would you react if no one heeded to your warning? Balsa knows the beemen are coming again but cannot get anyone in the hive to listen to her.

As a child I spent many lazy summer afternoons observing ants, butterflies and other insects as they crawled around on the ground or zipped through the air. It never occurred me to wonder what they were thinking, though. Legend of the Beemen draws the reader into, what for many of us may be, unfamiliar territory with ease. No sooner does the plot begin than you’ll begin thinking like a bug. I did finish this story wishing we could know more about what happened earlier in the timeline. Ms. Tarvin gives the reader more than enough information to explain why Balsa fears the beemen so fiercely but Juniper’s resistance to this threat is never really explored. Is she too afraid to consider the possibility that her cousin is correct? Does she think the beemen’s destruction has been exaggerated? Hopefully these questions will be answered in a sequel one day as there is still material here that hasn’t been fully explored.

A Surefire Way to Jinx Your Future…

…is to perfectly map it out and then expect your journey to go as planned. Twenty-six year old home builder, Matthew Huntz, is on his way to making his dreams a reality—gorgeous fiancée, perfect job, and the house he’s always wanted. Until the accident. Paralyzed from the chest down, with his life’s GPS offline, Matt is forced to recalculate his path in life.

In A Life Worth Living, Lorrie Kruse shares a look at an ordinary man becoming exceptional – not because of injury, but largely through deciding on who and what he values most.

Matthew wakes to a different world…or perhaps, more correctly, as a different person, in a world he will see forever from a different perspective.

Matthew’s sweet, strong personality is evident at the outset. Any reader will quickly feel an emotional attachment to him. We soon grasp details of his history and understand him to be a good person… and yet, we are there at the start of his personal journey. His growth is partly from needing to cope, but also, from rising to meet challenges. His spinal cord injury changes his choices, but not who he is.

This story isn’t what you might expect; not at all. I set off, I admit, with trepidation because of the title. I thought this would be a story about disability, about heart-tugging yet predictable struggles and overcoming. Yet, it’s not: it’s neither predictable nor precious. In case, you are depressed, seek medical help and advice from a fertility doctor and IVF speonline viagra pills http://cute-n-tiny.com/tag/cheerios/t in Goa. Matthew’s injury doesn’t change the people around him: for example, it doesn’t make his girlfriend a better or more genuine person. He still has to work, and must cope with people who antagonize him, (in fact, the believability of characters, in general, contributes enormously to this work). Quality conversations move the story along and reveal a lot about various individuals. If I had one complaint, it’s about the total number of characters – some lesser players contribute little and might have been omitted.

Life and its various incidences are what change Matt, not his disability. It never forces him to become a different person, he decides that himself… and his choices bring him to second chances. Abby is a woman who understands disabilities — but more importantly, about the need for two people to be sincere.

This is Matthew’s story. It’s about his family and his dreams and his love. Ultimately, this is a wonderful and moving story that shares both disappointment and achievement, joy and pain.

Ms. Kruse has a straightforward writing style that makes for comfortable reading. She presents injury and life struggle details in a realistic (and perhaps uncompromising) manner. Do read.

Sara is having a love affair with books. But, since books can’t make love to you, it means she’s in the middle of a very long dry spell. Until a sexy Brit shows up. Suddenly she’s learning just how stimulating a library can be—up against a bookcase, behind the card catalog, on the circulation desk . . .

Meanwhile, Veronica is incredibly frustrated. While Sara and her new man are using the library as their personal adult playground, she’s stuck with only her thesis and her sexual fantasies. But Andrew, her crush, isn’t above using his . . . assets to get Veronica right where he wants her: alone, in a darkened corner of the stacks.

Who knew reading could be this pleasurable?

Libraries are usually boring and quiet, right? Not in this story!!! The librarian gets some action in the stacks and elsewhere in the library. Even her assistant squeezes in some extracurricular time.

Sara Owens is the youngest assistant head librarian of special collections at the university library; she’s only in her mid-twenties. She’s a hard working, follow-the-rules type of person. Sara does has moments of doubt when her sense of duty is at war with her desire for the handsome William, but he convinces her to fall for him.

Veronica’s job is not clearly stated, but she appears to work as a circulations clerk, checking books in and out. She’s a college senior, working on her thesis in the library during her off-duty time. She aspires to be a librarian, hoping to go into the library sciences program as a grad student. Veronica has recently broken up with her boyfriend, Andrew, because she saw him kissing her roommate. Little did she know that it was a misunderstanding since Andrew had a very good reason for what he did. Andrew had to work hard to convince Veronica of the truth, so he used all of his manly talents to win her back.

The narrative is very descriptive and does not disappoint. Down time barely exists in this novella as we go from one sexy scene to the next. I was a bit concerned that Sara doesn’t know much about William before they get together, but this is an erotic novella after all. In real life, how many librarians would actually risk their jobs to have sex with a patron in the library while it’s open for business? This novella is in two parts, with Sara and William’s story in Part One and Veronica and Andrew’s story in Part Two. Both parts are full of hot scenes in the library, fulfilling the title of the book.

Lust in the Library is an erotic escapade sure to increase the temperature in any room you read it in. Be sure to have something or someone nearby to help you out when it gets too hot.

‘My Monster Burrufu’ is a story of fear overcome, a curse, and a most unusual monster who learns from a little girl how to trust his heart.

Olivia and her father are moving to the country so he’ll have a quiet place to write. Olivia wasn’t sure if she wanted to live in the country, but then she saw the house. It was a big old Victorian type with lots of rooms to snoop in and all kinds of things to discover. She just didn’t expect to discover a monster…

This author does a very nice job of creating a young girl character who never knew her mother, has a busy father, and is a lot braver than I was at her age! Mr. Corral and Ms. Sorrentino’s collaboration on this book has produced a wonderful fantasy for children to read and smile over. The ending was a surprise, but it’s most appropriate. The Planetary Pirate is full of twists and turns. Just when you think you know how it will end the plot spins in yet another unexpected direction. Typically, I can figure out how a story will end fairly early on in the plot so it was wonderful to be surprised so many times by this one.

The sociological commentary was one of my favorite aspects of this story.

For example, a Saturnian named Chalter says:“A civilization which advances a part of the race at the expense of the remainder, Mr. She can’t reach orgasm viagra australia price and she doesn’t want to disappoint her husband. Before you have to prove that you are a man and levitra pills for sale have the full potentiality to satisfy her, never delay. How To Acquire Kamagra Tablets For Healthy Treatment? Buy Kamagra online brought an effective approach to order cheap viagra get the best source. women viagra australia The very private and delicate memories are those which you have with your partner. President, is surely as yet in its infancy!”

Not all books can get away with this sort of thing but in this case it really works well. As an extra-terrestrial Chalter is able to get away with criticizing the unequal social and economic development on Earth. From what we learn of his character and the planetary culture in which he was raised Chalter is the perfect individual to bring up these inequalities.

I finished the final page wishing there was more to read. It felt like the first chapter of a much longer novel in the best possible sense of the term. Some of the characters reminded me of people I know in real life and I really wished I could spend more time with them. Even though everything was wrapped up nicely in the end the setting and plot were also constructed in such a way that they felt like an introduction to a complex universe that should have included many more adventures.

If you’re in the market for a thought-provoking story that will keep you up at night wondering what happens go pick up a copy of The Planetary Pirate. You will not be disappointed!
