As a teenager, Addy Monroe had a life-changing experience—although technically the “experience” was happening to someone else in the steamed-up backseat of the taxi stuck in traffic next to him. Six years later, at a club in LA, Addy meets rock singer Zak Roscoe—the man who unwittingly taught him who he is—and gets a shot at experiencing Zak for himself.

A private and guarded person, Zak finds Addy’s determined advances both annoying and intriguing, and he allows himself to be seduced for a night of pleasure. Unfortunately, some old habits die hard: Zak’s postcoital nature leaves something to be desired, and Addy quickly realizes that sometimes fantasy and reality don’t have much in common. If wishes were second chances….

Sometimes getting to really, truly know someone takes a while.  In fact, do we ever?

These thoughts are exactly what go through Addy Monroe’s mind as he falls into a relationship with Zak Roscoe. As a teen he sees Zak by chance, making out in the back of a cab. He’s completely fascinated by the two men, well one of them in particular, so when he encounters Zak several years later, he’s more than happy to jump into the sack with the guy who has become the star of all his fantasies and wet dreams. From there on in the story romps along and I won’t give it away, but I appreciated the fact that the author didn’t throw in lots of external conflicts to the couple; it was all about them.

To start with, if I am honest, I wasn’t sure of this book, but then, once Zak and Addy got chatting I was hooked. Ms Laine is a master of dialogue, it’s snappy, witty, funny, profound and completely moved the story along. The way Addy chats so much, Zak’s frequent closing down, it was a real treat to listen to their banter and conversations. The sex was hot, super hot, but their relationship and the problems Zak in particular had with letting someone close was the theme of this story. A theme that was well handled and didn’t always give me what I expected.

I would have preferred not to have two characters with the same letter for their first name, Zak and Zane. I appreciate they were brothers, but as a reader I had to go back a couple of times to check who was who. But other than that a good read, a length that made it possible to get your teeth into, and really three-dimensional characters, who despite their faults, I was still rooting for to get that HEA. Recommended if you like m/m that doesn’t focus on the gay issue, but instead explores the relationship of two strangers, with baggage, coming together in a physical and emotional way.

When submissive Ann misuses her safe word once too often she is told to attend a retraining program. However, the only Master prepared to train her is hard, inflexible Luke, the man she jilted eight years previously.

Dominated by her parents, shy Ann left home because there was something missing in her life she wasn’t getting from her sweet fiancé, as he was then, and is introduced to BDSM.

Shocked to see each other at the club, but stunned at how they’ve both changed, Ann has to be trained by Luke, or leave. It becomes a battle of wills to see who will lose control—the battle being about trust. Can Ann give up control and trust a Master? Can Luke trust Ann not to run away again? The emotional victory for each battle flies back and forth between them. Who will ultimately win?

Retraining the Sub is fast paced and filled to the brim with bratty sub antics and a Dom that is determined to have the last word.

Stories about Doms and the subs that love them abound. In this story, Ann is a sub with some serious trust issues. Jilting her then fiancé, Luke, at the altar all those years ago has left a few scars. Hanging out at the local BDSM club, Ann cries wolf and overuses her safe word one too many times. The Dungeon Master has little choice but to force Ann into a remedial BDSM class with a new Master. If she refuses, she will be banned from the club. It just so happens that the one Master willing to tangle with this bratty sub is the man she walked out on. Master Lucas has entered the building and all Hell is about to break loose.

The angle of the bratty sub was done pretty well, but I found myself getting annoyed with how mouthy Ann was toward Lucas. Being in a BDSM situation, you must have a certain kind of personality that invites public display of the body and sexual activities. That is why you go to a club. Ann balked at every step and gave absolute Hell to every Master she encountered, including Master Lucas. As the events progressed, you could see she wanted to trust him but the constant whining made me want to stuff a gag in her mouth myself.

The tension in Retraining the Sub was well done. The trust and abandonment issues were prevalent and you could see how early events in the book shaped the character growth of Lucas and Ann. The fact that they both ended up at the same club trying to work out their issues was interesting, as were the exercises Lucas put Ann through to strengthen her skills as a sub. Ann’s overall journey was harrowing, but I wanted to hear less complaining. The dialogue was strong and the sex scenes were terrific. Writer Jennifer Denys did an excellent job of expressing to the reader exactly what was taking place, especially in the ménage scene.

The cover art on this book was absolutely yummy. Master Lucas clad in leather pants, a studded belt and a single tail whip was sexy and made me want to read this book before I even knew what it was about. Sour Cherry Designs did a superb job.

If bratty subs and the Doms that tame them are your game, then Retraining the Sub will be right up your alley.

When amateur fetish model and rockabilly princess Adelita “Addie” Sanchez is asked to model for an instructional BDSM book, she turns the offer down—she’s not a porn star. Then she meets the three male Dominants behind the project, including Lane Therres, who convinces her the book is more art than porn, and she’ll be safe in his hands.

The rules of the photo sessions are clear—there’s no sex, and Addie can call a halt to anything she’s uncomfortable with. But self-reliant, strong-willed Addie doesn’t count on liking what the powerful Doms do to her body with their ropes, chains and toys. Enjoying Emory’s touch after falling for Lane, Addie turns away from both men, scared of what they’re making her feel. She’s worried that a relationship built on a BDSM contract can never be anything but whips and chains.

Lane will exchange Dom leather for shining armor to prove to his rockabilly princess that even the most gallant knights sometimes prefer dungeons.

What do you get when you cross a rockabilly chick with a computer geek Dom?

Lots of dirty, dirty sex! Not what you were thinking, was it? Me either, but boy was I glad to be wrong. Here we have Addie, who is a clothes designer, tailor, retail employee and model all rolled into one. During one photo shoot while posing in retro lingerie, she recreated the now famous poses of Betty Page thus thrusting her into the category of “fetish model”. This of course snags the attention of media outlets looking to make a book featuring elements of BDSM.

After being approached she immediately shuts down the idea of posing, calling it porn which was not at all what she was into. But thanks to the negotiating skills of one very sexy Dom, Lane, who shows her the beauty and power in submitting, Addie decides to pose. As the project unfolds, neither were expecting the feelings that followed or that fact that Addie is a submissive. But while Addie fights her submissive nature, she can’t deny her growing feelings for Lane.

This was a really fun story as the idea was unique and interesting. Lane was a great character, sexy, nerdy and just overall yummy. He decided dominating submissives would be a great way to get over his social awkwardness. Really? I loved that idea, even if it seemed far fetched. Addie was a strong character, sexy, classy and original for a romance novel.

But the reason I didn’t rate this five stars was because her immediate dismissal of the BDSM lifestyle, calling it porn. People who live and breathe the “Rockabilly” lifestyle are typically much more open minded then Addie portrayed at first. Also, I felt the blurb for the book was a bit misleading. It lead me to believe there might be a menage element that just wasn’t there. Then again I could just have been hopeful.

Other then that, it was an excellent read and would suggest to anyone who really digs the retro vibe, sexy Dom’s, bratty subs or the dirty, dirty BDSM flavor.

When a D/s virgin with an angel tattoo decides to gatecrash a BDSM party, she gets more than she bargained for. Lexi meets four masked Doms with devilish tattoos who give her pleasure beyond her wildest dreams. But when the scene is interrupted, she flees the club.

“Master Demon” Sam refuses to give up on his angel. He puts away his mask and decides to prove that he can be the perfect vanilla boyfriend. But how long can Sam hide his true nature? Will vanilla be enough for Lexi, now that she’s explored her deepest desires? And when Lexi finds out she’s been deceived, there’s going to be hell to pay!

Angels, Demons and Doms is a book that makes you dream about sinful Doms with wicked talents long after the last page is read.

What would you do if the air conditioning went out at work? What if you were the only one there and you thought you were alone? Would you strip down to your undies to keep cool? What if someone was watching and called you on the phone with suggestive things that curled your toes and left you in a panting heap of naked desire? That is what is in store for our heroine Lexi as she encounters Sam, a Dom at the Hades Club.

This book was a page turner that was riddled with plot twists and some wonderful forays into the BDSM world. We journey with Lexi on her maiden voyage to Hades, a local BDSM club and revel in her first experience. Authors McCall and Gormley do a great job of breathing life into Lexi and her issues with her weight. She takes on “Master Demon” and his fellow Doms at his club, and when things go wrong, you really feel for her as she tries to put her world back together. How do you do that when you have had a brush with the incredible?

Sam is an interesting character. Also known as “Master Demon”, he failed to provide Lexi with a safe virgin D/s experience, so he tries again to stay in her life as plain old Sam, a vanilla style boyfriend. Let’s just say that Lexi isn’t fooled for long and karma can really be a nasty boomerang when you are looking the wrong way.

This story was a rollercoaster ride that had me turning the pages and rooting for Lexi and Sam to get together and make it a go. The stick insect friend and Sam’s ex-wife make a great foil for this story. So do the three delicious Doms that pal around with Sam at the Hades Club. The dialogue is natural, the sex scenes are hot enough to scorch my fingers as I turned the pages and I loved the way the book began.

If you want to fall in love with an angel, and read about some hot phone sex and a few doms with demon tattoos, give this hot read a try.

Pride goeth before his fall.

A Cougar Falls story

Dean Chastell has a reputation for being a troublemaker and something of a lady’s man. It’s not his fault he’s attractive, funny and hell on wheels between the sheets…or that his pranks often leave his victims smarting. But not even he deserves to get saddled with Stacey Bermin for his sins. There’s no denying the woman is gorgeous. She’s sexy as hell and aggravating in the extreme. She’s also prideful, pampered, calls him hillbilly and needs a swift kiss…err, kick, in the pants.

And she’s in grave danger.

He never thought they’d manage to spend a few hours, much less a few days, alone without going for each other’s throats, but when trouble comes calling, Dean finds he’ll do anything to keep her safe. She’s not nearly as cold as she seems. In fact, the princess brings out the prince in him he never knew existed. And he’ll move heaven and earth to keep her safe, out of danger…and in his arms, no matter the cost.

Dean Chastell and Stacey Bermin might be the same species, but that’s about all the resident pride prankster and the ice princess appear to have in common. This is the fifth installment in Marie Harte’s Cougar Falls series and while it has enough of the right background information to be read as a standalone, the real richness of the world comes from having read the preceeding four books.

With that in mind I easily found myself wondering what Dean, a character I’ve come to love, did to deserve the abuse of the lady who by his own admission was too good for him. Through Dean’s eyes I began to see the real Stacey and found myself not hating her too much, I even loved her by the end. I attribute that to the way Ms. Harte let me inside Stacey’s head so that I knew what she was actually thinking because her outward actions alone would have left me hating her. The play by play in Dean’s head as he starts to realize that she might not be as frozen as she appears also went a long way to my loving her.

The relationship between Dean and Stacey was hot and exciting and believable. The events that throw these two together and the banter just made the quick bonding perfectly plausible for two people who’ve known each other for years and have been harboring secret feelings for each other. I found myself caught between laughing and sighing every time he called her “princess”, because who doesn’t want to find the man who treats them like a princess. I look forward to updates on the princess and the prankster in future books.

I definitely give Ms. Harte credit, she’s built an amazing world in Cougar Falls Montana, I want to hike those woods and see if I can find the mysterious Ac-taws myself, and I’m not a huge outdoors person. So if you haven’t discovered the wonderful town of Cougar Falls, feel free to explore it with this hot and funny addition, you won’t be disappointed.

Tallulah Murphy is a busy woman. As the newly appointed Director of Education for the Atlanta Art Museum, she has a thousand and one things to do on any given day. Dating is not high on that list; in fact, it’s not even on the radar.

Three hundred miles away in Charleston, South Carolina, Lieutenant Mitchell Weaver is gearing up for his promotion to be the youngest police chief in the city’s history. And unfortunately, as a prominent city official with all eyes watching his every move, a quality date seems untenable. But when good friends and good fortune set Tallulah and Mitch on a fateful adventure with Madame Evangeline’s high-end dating service, 1Night Stand, they may find a little matchmaking magic can reset their spirits of adventure and open their hearts and minds to the possibility of love.

Finding that right person to spend your life with sounds like an insurmountable task, but sign up with Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service, and that task can become effortless!

In this tale, we meet Tallulah (Lou) Murphy, a beautiful young woman from Atlanta who has spent the better part of a year piecing her life back together after her ex broke off their relationship and did his best to ruin her career. A good friend signs her up for Madame Eve’s service, and Lou, who’s ready to find someone who makes her smile again, anxiously answers the multitude of questions and then waits to find her ideal match.

Mitch Weaver has just received a promotion to the Chief of the Charleston, South Carolina Police Department, making him the youngest chief in history. Just when his professional life was seemingly in place, however, his personal life has stagnated. Divorced for three years after finding out his wife had slept her way around the department, he’s mailed his last alimony check and is ready to move on. Thankfully, his good friend has signed him up for the 1NS service in hopes that his life can change.

As always, Madame Eve made a great match in Lou and Mitch. They both love the outdoors, have been burned by past relationships, and each want a family. A long term relationship is a definite for these two, and there is little doubt it would work.

The sex is hot, and definitely helps to strengthen the connection between Mitch and Lou. Their immediate physical attraction is enhanced when they realize they share similar interests and each is so different from the people that have hurt them in the past. Their only stumbling block? They live in different cities and different states. They quickly realize the obstacle they need to overcome, but refuse to allow it to overshadow their short time together.

I loved both characters and in a short few pages, the author conveys their past hurts, the way they overcame them, and their desire for new partners. In such a situation, a rebound is a natural assumption, but not for these two, and I credit that to the talent of the author.

As always, I’m left wanting more, but that’s because these characters are so likable. It’s hard not to root for them! If you want a quick, hot, and enjoyable read, definitely check this one out!

The editor is always right… Katia Lane, a down on her luck writer, finds this out the hard way. When she submits an erotic tale to Daring Desires Publishing, one head strong woman meets another as an author/editor war ensues. There’s no room for a diva in the publishing industry…and Sylvia L. Avers means to demonstrate this to the fledging writer. When you submit a manuscript to Daring Desires, you submit more than a book…you submit yourself.

As a BDSM conference nears, both women prepare to face off. Which one is going to be on top?

Give me an erotic romance with characters that leap off the page and have me snorting into my coffee and you have made me a reader that will not stop flicking the pages until the last scorch marks are cooled on my e-reader.

A story about a struggling author trying to change her genre from pirate romances into erotica should sound boring, right? Sure, it could but not in this book. From the first sentence, I wanted to know why Katia was slinging her coffee cup in frustration and cursing like a sailor. Her daily grind of balancing her waitress job and passion for writing really hit home for me. As a writer, I understood her irritation when her romance editor told her the newest book she had slaved over was crap. Can you say furious and heartbroken? Oh yes. You feel everything that Kat feels as she experiences it and I love books like that. Her awkward foray into the world of BDSM authorship is a bumpy journey that was joy to read about.

The second main character in the book is Sylvia, the editor at the erotica house that Katia submits her new BDSM story to. Little does Katia know, she will be submitting to more than just a copy edit. Sylvia is a force of nature with a dominant streak a mile wide. Right away, fiery emails banter back and forth between the two women. There were moments when I burst into abject laughter at the battle going on between author and editor as Katia’s education into the world of BDSM takes off in directions I just don’t see coming. The steam heats up as the tension between the two women mounts and flairs into an all-out fire storm. These two ladies are matched for a battle of the wills that will have you thinking about it for days after you finish reading the last page.

The plot development in this story was spot on. It was not predictable and each chapter was separated by character, so no issues of head hopping arose. The sex scenes were scorching and left me wanting this book to last for way more than fifty seven pages. The thing I enjoyed the most was the acerbic wit and the all-out real reactions from the characters. This was a one sit read that actually had me going right back to the beginning to start reading it again, I loved it so much. Authors Hightower and Kreiger have done an outstanding job of creating a character dynamic with a flair that really stood out as one of the best books I have read lately.

If you want an original story with a BDSM theme that will have you laughing out loud while simultaneously reaching for a pitcher of ice water, then The Submission is the book for you.

Carly Penn is thrilled when her older brother, Joe, marries her dear friend, Kaylee, with the help of the 1Night Stand service. Now, looking for a final bout of passion to carry her through as terminal cancer steals her life, she’s turned to Madame Eve for herself. She doesn’t expect a happy ending, just a single night to remember as she faces the end of her days.

Vampire Agoston Barabás was forced to watch his true love, Dorika, murdered two hundred earlier, and clings to her dying promise to return to him. He takes one night at a time, never loving or becoming involved with another as he waits for his lover to find him. When he meets his date from 1Night Stand, he’s shocked to discover she carries the soul of his Dorika and the heart of a woman he could love.

As their fates collide in passionate lovemaking, Agoston offers Carly an unexpected option—live or die together. Dare she risk eternity with a vampire, even if his tender touch brings her a greater joy than she has ever known?

Madame Eve strikes again. This time she fixes up a mourning vampire with a terminally ill woman looking for one last fling. What neither could possibly know, however, was that this woman is the reincarnation of his long lost love. Did Madame Eve know? I guess only she can answer that.

Carly Penn has just happily witnessed the marriage between her best friend and her brother, the two of whom were set up by the 1Night Stand service. Carly is very close to her brother Joe, a werewolf, and is happy now that he has someone to care for him once she succumbs to the untreatable cancer she knows will soon take her life. Her final wish? To spend one night of passion with a sexy stranger before the pain of her illness takes over.

Agoston “Gus” Barabas is a 200 year old vampire who has spent the majority of his time searching for the soul of his deceased love, Dorika. His special skill as a vampire is the ability to see the essence, the aura, of each human being, and with every person he meets, he desperately hopes to find a match to the woman he lost so many years ago, but who promised to return to him one day. Urges and needs being what they are, he occasionally allows himself a fling, and thus as agreed to a 1NS hookup arranged by Madame Eve.

When the two meet, Gus knows she’s the one he’s been searching for, but Carly needs time to adjust, although she does know there’s something incredibly familiar about this man…

I don’t read a lot of paranormal stories, but I’m a fan of the 1Night Stand series, so I gave this a try. The premise of this story was quite good, and I was able to follow the paranormal aspects, given that I have little previous knowledge of werewolves or vampires. What seemed lacking, however was the emotional connection. Ms. Royce is very good at telling a story, but there wasn’t much feeling there. I didn’t sense the emotions of the characters, and although I knew why they belonged together, and was glad to see the happily ever after, I didn’t have much of an emotional investment.

That said, it’s not badly written. It’s a quick, entertaining read, as are many of the 1Night Stand series. If you like to dabble in the paranormal and believe in true and everlasting love, you may enjoy this one!

So when her new boss suggest she ‘get laid’ Melody makes the rather rash decision to get set up with a Dominant for the night in a plush hotel.

I enjoyed Night with a Dom for several reasons. The characters were likeable, the sex scenes hotter than hot and it had several nice little twists, a few of which I pre-empted, others I did not. I did find Melody a bit of a whiner in the first chapter, some of the introspection a little too self-pitying, but I guess that needed to be the case for her to take the drastic step of paying to get laid. But by the end of the story I was rooting for her with a ‘you go girl’ flag waving in my hand. She proved herself stronger than I thought she was going to be, both emotionally and sexually and that gathered the story up for me again and left me with a ‘ah, that was good’ feeling.

If you enjoy a seriously sexy read with a bit of light BDSM Night with a Dom is a good short story that is nicely written and could give inspiration to anyone who’s had a New Year’s Eve alone.

Jessica is one step away from the big promotion she’s worked for all her professional life, and now everything rides on her ability to keep Dr. Perfect—aka handsome, heroic Ben—on a short leash until the potential lawsuit blows over. And to keep her raging crush on him under wraps.

First order of business is to pry her knight in shining scrubs’ perfect ass off a bar stool. Except he refuses to move until she agrees to—and then loses—a bet for 48 hours of her undivided attention.

It’s all downhill from there. And despite herself, Jessica can’t help but give in to the temptation to go down with him…

Expectations usually cause people to rise to the occasion. Too many expectations coming from everyone and too many negative situations cause Ben Torres, surgeon extraordinaire, to do some wildly unexpected things. Ogling the resident nurse for starters, during off-duty time of course…

Ben Torres grew up living the values of his father who gave of himself and his time to the African people. Ben watched his father sacrifice so much to others, learning that enjoying himself was frowned upon. So he encouraged his friends to join in sacrificing of themselves also. As an ER surgeon, Ben is known for making the right decisions and helping to heal various people who happen to end up in the ER sometimes due to their own bad choices in life.

Jessica Bradford is the nurse who Ben ogled after he makes himself unavailable for ER duty. She is dependable, reliable, and conservative in all that she does because she wants to be a good role model for her younger brother and sister who she has been looking after since she was twenty. Jessica also grew up with a father who constantly promoted giving of things, time, and self to others.

When Sam, Jessica’s brother, asks her to help him with his friend, Ben, she goes willingly without question to help him out. Ben of course does not want any help, since he realizes that they all want him to go back to being the selfless, giving person they thought he should still be. Ben and Jessica’s tug of war with each other’s lives and emotions is thoroughly examined. Their escapades are sometimes comical, with a generous helping of brotherly, sisterly, and friendly love from supporting characters.

I enjoyed reading this first installment of the Bradford series. The main characters and supporting characters are very likable. The story seemed a bit long in parts, but it was necessary for including all the scenes that built up the characters and the supporting characters who will probably be getting their own stories told in separate books. Ms. Nicholas’ writing is a pleasure to read as she makes it easy for me to vicariously enjoy what the characters are going through.

I highly recommend reading Just Right for those who are questioning “what is the world coming to” and “where is the good in the world”. I also recommend this story for its sexy story line, with great reading about falling in love and dealing with life as a whole.
