I always try and find new authors every year. Some years, I do better than others, but 2024 was a great year for finding new favorite authors. Over the year, I read 15 new authors, and that’s with having read approximately 110 books total.
Here are a few of my new-to-me authors and the books that got me hooked on them:
Travis Baldree – Legends & Lattes
Cait Nary – Lucky Bounce
Agatha Christie – The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
Sarah Beth Durst – The Lies Among Us
Christina Estes – Off the Air
Sally Rigby – Deadly Games
Holly Gramazio – The Husbands
Ngozi Ukazu – Check Please! Volume 1
J. Penner – Bakers & Magic
V. E. Schwab – A Darker Shade of Magic
Have you read any of these authors? And yes, I know, at my age, I should not only just now be reading Agatha Christie…
Glad you found Christie! I’ve enjoyed quite a few of hers over the years.
Me, too! And I’ve been wanting to read her for years and just never managed.
Currently re-reading Schwab’s Shades of Magic Trilogy, and enjoying it all over again!
I was really taken in by the first book and cannot wait to continue the series! Started to buddy read it with a friend last year, and she loved it as much as I did.
Legends & Lattes is so cute! It was definitely a comfort read for me. Kind of jealous of you for getting to read all the Agatha Christie books for the first time… you’re in for a treat!
Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂 Have a lovely week!
I’m so eager for the next in the Legends & Lattes series this November! Haha, thank you – I’ve loved what I’ve read so far.
Oddly, or not, Legends and Lattes has been on so many lists today!
I noticed that, too! If you like fantasy without all the action, it’s a super cute book with lots of coffee and pastries.
If it makes you feel any better I’ve never read anything by Agatha Christie, maybe I should try sometime though as I’ve really enjoyed the adaptations that I’ve seen. I loved ADSOM and was really intrigued by the concept of The Husbands. Sarah Beth Durst is on my must read authors list for this year. It looks like you found some fantastic new authors last year. Hopefully 2025 will bring even more your way.
If you enjoy mysteries, I highly recommend Agatha Christie! The Husbands was such a strange premise, but it’s really well done in my opinion.
15 new authors is great! I have read Agatha Christie, but that’s it from your list. Have a great week!
Thanks! Hoping you find some other new authors in your blog hopping today!
This is a great list! I love Baldree and Schwab!!
Thank you! They’re both two of my favorites now.
Baldree is fun!
He really is! And he seems to be a pretty nice guy, too. Didn’t even flinch when I randomly emailed him. Hahaha.
Love love love V.E. Schwab! If you haven’t read The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue I HIGHLY recommend it!
I’ll have to add that one to my list!
Legends & Lattes is such a good read!
It was! There’s a third coming in November, too!
I’ve read a handful of Christie novels, mostly her most famous ones, but this year, I’m going to start the Hercules Poirot series from the beginning. Should be fun!
Happy TTT!

I hope you enjoy them! The two that I’ve read have both been Poirot and I love him!
Yay for Travis Baldree! He made my list too. I really like V.E. Schwab’s work an Agatha Christie is an old favorite of mine. This is a great list. I will have to check out the other authors you mention.
Yes! We could be friends, I think. Hahaha. Hoping you find a new author you love!
I’ve read some Agatha Christie, but not that particular one. I need to check out your links. There are some interesting titles here.
Wonderful! I hope you find something you love. 🙂
I was late coming to Agatha Christie as well, and now I love her stories on audio!
That’s how I’ve been doing them as well. The ones narrated by Richard Armitage are wonderful.
Cait Nary was on my 2023 list for that exact book. I loved it!
God, that book got me! So glad you loved it, too!
OOh nice! I read a Sarah Beth Durst book last year as well, but I am pretty sure I read the author prior to that! I did love her thriller that I read and would so read another if she wrote it!
Thanks for visiting my TTT!
She’s a fantastic writer, I definitely need to find more of her work soon.
I have now added that Travis Baltree book to my Kindle. And I hope to read The Husbands by Gramazion this year.
I read a lot of Agatha Christie books when I was young, but then I returned to her books about ten years ago and liked them even better this time.
Thanks for stopping by my Top Ten Post.

I hope you enjoy them both! Something in the cozy fantasy genre really calls to me. And The Husbands was so unusual, but I enjoyed it.
I can definitely see why Christie might be even more enjoyable as an adult. My daughter had to read one in high school and it was the first book I’d seen her devour in some time.
Hahah don’t feel bad I’ve never read Christie either 😂 thanks for dropping by my post!
Whew! 😂 But if you’re into mysteries, I definitely recommend her.
I loved Legends and Lattes – and also discovered them “late”
Same, but such great books.
I’ve read a few… loved the Travis Baldree books!
I love how many people have said they loved Travis Baldree. 😀
Schwab is such a great writer. Glad you discovered her.
She really is. I got sucked into that book fast!
I had Legends & Lattes on my list this week as well – what a wonderful and surprising book that was! I didn’t even know cosy fantasy was a thing until this book, but now I’m a devoted fan of the genre. I’m glad you found some great books last year!
This was me, too. I’d never heard of it before and can’t even remember how I found it now. If you haven’t read it yet, you might try A Fellowship of Bakers & Magic by J. Penner. It’s fantasy + a bake off.
Sarah Beth Durst was a new one for me too.
I am gradually working through Agatha Christie. It is going very slowly, she was prolific!
Have a great week!
I was mad I had slept on Sarah Beth Durst for so long!
Man, was she ever! But that means we have a long time before we run out, which is a good thing.
I also read J. Penner for the first time, I want to continue with her books soon.
Great list, I’ve had my eye on Legends & Lattes!
So cool you discovered Agatha Christie, and now you have zillions by her to read: mysteries, supernatural, novels, plays, short stories, essays, the list goes on!
Many of her books in audio format are fabulous – I love Hugh Fraser as her narrator
I discovered Travis Baldree last year and loved him!
Love that you read a completely different book by Sarah Beth Durst than the rest of us 😀
I love that you have Agatha Christie on your list!
Great list! I fell in love with Travis Baldree’s writing after one book, and haven’t been let down so far. I haven’t read any books by Sarah Beth Durst, but plan to change that soon. Here’s to discovering more great authors this year!
