First-time explorations won’t come easy. But they just might be deliciously worth it.

The hardest part of living in a small town is being forced to hide who you truly are.

The setting was nicely written. As someone who has lived in a small town before, I thought the author did a good job of capturing what that experience is like for people who don’t fit the mold in some way. It can be a lonely way to live, so I appreciated the fact that Camille and Kayla talked about this and compared notes in the first couple of scenes. It made their later interactions even more meaningful than they might have otherwise been.

I would have liked to see a little more attention paid to developing the beginning of this tale. Everything moved so quickly then that I didn’t feel like I’d gotten to know the characters as well as I would have preferred to by the time the plot picked up. With that being said, this is a minor criticism of something I otherwise liked reading quite a bit.

Kayla and Camille has fantastic chemistry. I could feel the sparks igniting between them from the very first scene, and it only made me more curious to see how they’d react to each other once they were able to finally spend some time alone together. The build up in tension between them couldn’t have been handled better, and it is one of the many things that’s going to make me want to read more from this author in the future.

Louisiana Heat was a short, steamy read that should be checked out by anyone who is intrigued by the blurb.
