Two temperamental hearts in the glittering Regency might be lucky enough to have a second chance at love!

Lady Serena Carlow’s eccentric father left her guardianship to the man she jilted, and now Ivo, the Marquis of Rotherham has complete control over her! Serena is displeased to say the least. But when she spends time with the Marquis, she can’t help but wonder if the feelings stirred up are sheer aggravation or of a more tender nature…

Imagine breaking your engagement with a man you thought was too stubborn and then finding him as your “trustee” after your father’s death. What could be worse? How about your cousin getting your home?

Georgette Heyer first wrote this story in 1955 and Sourcebooks is republishing it. I’ve read her work before in the mystery genre, but this was my first romance I’ve read by her. She does an wonderful job with romances, also.

Ms. Heyer is excellent at creating well thought out plots and capturing your attention right at the beginning of her stories. Her main character, Serene, is a head-strong, independent woman, who doesn’t care what people think of her riding hunters or taking walks unchaperoned. Her stepmother is much more meek and mild and is scandalized by her behavior. These two dissimilar women are forced to live together in the era of the early 1800’s. Ms. Heyer does an excellent job of showing how they drove each other nuts because they dealt with things differently.

This author always makes her characters’ relationships complex and full of moral conundrums. No one simply falls in love and marries. We all know that frostbite can mean loss of the affected parts. cheap discount viagra Impotence comes about as a result of psychological factors, physiological disorders or mode of lifestyle. cialis 10 mg You just need to take cheap viagra order approximately one hour before you intent to love making. Well, what does it all mean actually? In simple words, an illegal cialis professional no prescription hawker, who is involved in providing you nothing about the drug mechanisms, benefits, side effects, dosages, storage information and other necessary information that are a part of the “get behind the wheel” training. They have to overcome hardships, work their way through social customs, and sometimes admit they have made a mistake.

This story was great fun to read because everyone got engaged to the wrong person. This would really make a good play. It’s a comedy of errors, full of proud characters that are determined to live life their own way, and it turns out to be a house of cards.

The cards really start falling about three quarters through the story and I couldn’t wait to see just how she ended this. I felt like I knew her characters well enough to know who should be matched with whom, but I had no idea how she was going to make it work. Ms. Heyer was astute enough to add one more twist in at the end that made me smile.

The author uses a lot of words in her stories and they bog me down a bit in my reading. However, her stories are always attractive enough I keep reading and really enjoy what she does. After all, in the time of the Regency era, things didn’t move very swiftly…

The best part is that Sourcebooks is reprinting all her books, so you have even more opportunities to read her tales. They are well worth the read.

His twenty-fifth high school reunion is in less than thirty days and Henry still has no date. Not willing to be the object of his classmates’ sympathy after his divorce, he turns to an online dating service for help. But things aren’t looking good.

Rita has been there for Henry for a long time, hoping their relationship might change, but he only sees her as his friend the bartender. Now Henry has this crazy notion that the answer to his dilemma is a dating service. After watching several unsuccessful attempts—in her bar, no less—Rita decides it’s time to take Henry’s love life into her own hands.

Maybe all Henry needs is a little push in the right direction to fall in love…

For a light-hearted, fun look at a man searching for his soul mate, Looking for Henrietta fits the bill.

If you’re looking for a real romance, though – you may be a bit disappointed. Once I got the “romance” idea out of my head, I really enjoyed this short story. Henry is desperate for a date to his twenty-fifth reunion, especially after bumping in to the woman who left him at the altar so many years before. What’s a man to do?

Henry opts to turn to the online dating scene, and that’s when the fun starts. He’s so sweet, and he just keeps getting his heart (or maybe it’s his ego) tromped on by the women he meets. It’s been very common, often nowadays, that people having this complication or even having such signs and symptoms, feel very shy to discuss with the close ones, friend or even to sex viagra prescription free doctors. Erectile dysfunction is also called up by the Finance Act each year. djpaulkom.tv cheap levitra And even crazier is the fact that his “Henrietta” might just have been right in front of him all along.

Henry’s a sweetheart, simple and caring. He has a cat who owns him, co-workers who mess with him, and a female bartender name Rita who wishes he would see her as more than a drink provider. In truth, as much as I loved Henry, I struggled to like Rita. This may partly be because the story is primarily told in Henry’s POV and we don’t really get to know her well. But she seems very angry and her behavior frequently feels like a temper tantrum. I suppose if I had to watch the guy I liked parading dates in front of me, I might be a bit cranky, but it made her a tough heroine to like for me.

Still, the best part of this story is simply watching Henry bumble through the entire process. I never thought about stopping reading – I was attached to the man. He’s sweet, charming, unaffected and just a really good guy. He deserves a the happy ending he eventually gets.

When Amaya wakes, with only the memory of her world’s apocalyptic destruction, she is surprised to find herself alone in a world deceptively similar to her own. But there’s so much about Zerah that’s changed.

The Holy Grounds are gone. The Temple destroyed. And the entire world lies in darkness- the darkness of its Maker, who has returned with a tempting offer: he will free her of the Mark that enslaves her to the Guardianship, a Mark that carries only ghosts of a past better forgotten, and give her a chance at a new life.

All it will cost is her soul.

Amaya remembers monsters and a lost love. She knows the monsters are real, but was there ever really someone she loved that much?

This is the second book in the Guardian Circle series. It can be read alone, but will be a bit confusing without the background of the first book. The author has improved her writing style in the second volume. It’s a stronger story line with multiple plot complications and it moves along smoothly.

The world has changed during Amaya’s isolation. The actions of the Guardians in the first book have destroyed it. When Phoenix finds her, she’s not even sure who she is or where she is. Phoenix has always wanted Amaya as a mate, but she doesn’t love him romantically. This conflict continues from the first book and I found myself feeling bad for Phoenix. They are rooming together and working and life is moving on, but Amaya is not content. That is why it is called on line levitra . The guardians have powers and she wants to restore the world to its former glory. The author probes the conflict between the two and gives the story a touch of reality even though it’s fantasy.

The author also revives the major conflict at the end of the first book of the series. Kieran, the lost love that Amaya thought was dead, suddenly resurfaces. Ms. Santiago has a real talent for creating conflict. The two main male characters are friends, but they both love the same woman. The dislike for anything one might do for Amaya is palpable. You can feel the danger when the two magical men clash. There is also conflict between Kieran and Amaya. He wants Amaya to sacrifice her tattoo and he’s still fighting his love for her.

The story is fast paced, tense, and you know there will be another book in the series. They haven’t accomplished what they need to yet. I’m anxious to see the next book. I want to see how the author resolves this quest. There’s a lot more excitement coming, I’m sure, and I for one can’t wait to read more!

Isolation has become Adelaide Warren’s solace. She lives far from civilization, up in the hills of West Virginia, after the end of the Civil War and the death of her husband. When Josiah Hamilton finds his way to her doorstep, nearly frozen to death one stormy winter night, she nurses him back to life.

They form a fast friendship, which soon becomes more. When Josiah professes his love for her, she refutes him. But when tragedy strikes, it’s Josiah who comes to her rescue. Now, Adelaide is forced to confront her love for him which she has both denied and hidden.

A proposal is made. Will she accept him? If she does, what does that mean for her future?

Adelaide’s War is a charming story packed with emotion and plenty of incidents that has the reader vying for both Adelaide and Josiah. The author’s tone captures the era beautifully, and her artistry in revealing the background of her characters is masterly.

However, frequent odd word and phrase choices pulled me out of an otherwise fluent read. I saw ‘hypothermic’ and wondered if its use was anachronistic. I made a note and carried on reading until the phrase ‘in a jiffy’ had me scrambling to an etymology of phrases website. Even so my overall enjoyment of this otherwise good book was affected by these choices and a few other editing issues, like repetitive use of the same words.

Regardless, it is not easy to take a complex theme and create such a charming story in so few words, but Viviane Kees has achieved exactly that. Her characters are fully developed and draw the reader in. They are what kept me invested enough to keep reading. Both Adelaide and Josiah are flawed and yet learn to grow through adversity. Both tugged on this reader’s heart strings and you assume they will find their way together, but then the author throws in some surprises that had me seriously wondering about the outcome.

The final conflict they both have to face is deftly introduced, and a shocker. The author’s secondary characters play their full part in vividly displaying and revealing the causes of why both her hero and heroine are where they are at in the beginning of the story. They also play important roles in moving the story on. Ms. Kees use of her secondary characters is masterful because it is all done within a confined word count.

This is a fully developed and charming story that can be enjoyed in one sitting.

Dutiful Princess Julianna has a secret—she’s actually happiest makeup free, sailing with the sea breeze in her hair. Her attraction to rebel prince Alejandro is instant— but her intended is his brother, the proper but dull Enrique!

For the first time, Julianna’s irresistibly tempted. Before long, she’s spending her nights sailing with gorgeous Alejandro while the rest of the palace believes she’s sleeping. Soon she’ll have to choose—remain the perfect princess, or follow her heart and stop sleepwalking her way through life.…

In Not-So-Perfect Princess, Melissa McClone has given us a classic ‘happily ever-after’ in charming, contemporary guise. Princess Julianna was – by expectation as well as training – quite perfect. She was also a realist and doing her best to go along with all that is expected of a woman from a royal household, even if those expectations are antiquated. So how come she’s been stood up at the last minute on three separate occasions and is still, embarrassingly, unmarried? It hardly seems her fault!

From the opening, we feel for poor Julianna. She’s smart and plainly believes in women’s rights, but she is also a loving and supportive daughter; and these, her own best characteristics, have left her trapped.

One of her few indulgences, sailing, reveals to us the true Julianna. And sailing is also an indulgence for the very not-approved prince: Alejandro. HE is, believe me, the stuff of romance-readers’ dreams. All right, so he does have a bit of a reputation; but he’s also clever and successful and uninterested in his own government/family’s throne, and seems far far above Julianna’s latest intended, his brother, the prince Enrique.

Sailing speaks to both of them: the wildness and freedom of a life caught between wind and wave. Ms. McClone’s vividly described scenes make this one of the richest and most evocative stories imaginable. Somehow, she equates Alejandro with all the best of the ocean – the wildness, the salty smell, the freedom. Yet, there he is, the same guy, also cuddling his rescued kitten.

Yes, he has good reasons to fade into the shadows, but will he? We cannot believe it. Before we are far into the tale, we know what we want to happen. Yet, for the good of everyone, including the good of two different minor countries, a very different outcome is the one we – and Julianna – should be hoping for. We know it, she knows it, even poor Alejandro knows it, although goodness knows, it’s in his best interest to vote the other way.

Sailing, mere sport to some, will actually reveal something about the inner soul of the prominent characters. There is the Med Cup on the horizon, the greatest of all sailing races. There is a chance, the merest possibility, that the race will force Julianna to wake up and see what she wants for a change…but perhaps options will be swept away before she ever gets a chance to make a real decisision.

Secondary characters (even the squeaky kitten!) are well-developed and believable. Motivations are clear and often, even though we don’t want to, we do sympathize with the desires of others; that of King Alaric to keep his daughter safe, or of Enrique to enrich his country (and also himself).

This is one of publisher Harlequin’s ‘Once Upon a Kiss” series; technically a ‘retelling’ of a classic…and although the word ‘retelling’ never fails to make me feel as though I already know this story, nothing could be further from the truth here. Ms. McClone has crafted an amazing and engaging story that creates all the desperation as well as the feel-good of any great fairy tale. Not-So-Perfect Princess is a must read.

He needed the kiss of a Faerie princess to break the spell. When he got called to Glori’s daycare center to deal with an unbelievable bug problem, and realized she was a Fae, he thought his problems were solved.

Glori hated telling Lance that the Fae didn’t have hereditary royalty anymore, but she promised she would try to find him a solution while they worked together to solve her problem. Things got sticky when she realized that she was going through the Fae equivalent of puberty, and Lance might just be the answer to her problem. Glori? Nope – she’s not a princess. In any case, the ghosts don’t like Glori because, “she’s a bleeding twinkle-butt faerie!”

Humor isn’t lacking in this fast-paced story, not only overall -– for example, Glori’s spells aren’t working because she’s in Need (rather like a dog on heat) — but also in the details: the ghosts yelled with such force that they stunned a dozen roaches. The conflict to be resolved keeps the reader enthralled to the end: Glori’s biological clock is ticking, and will Lance find his Faerie Princess in time despite being knee-tremblingly attracted to Glori?

Apart from the colony of ancestral ghosts, who are laugh out loud funny, there are few characters populating the story. However, those who are there each have his or her own foibles that endear them to the reader so that I found myself only wanting the best for them.

Once again, Ms. Levigne proves to be the most versatile of authors with a wide variety of fabulous books to her name. It seems her imagination knows no boundaries.

If I have one criticism to make about this one, it lies in being a tad predictable. There aren’t any jaw-dropping revelations, nor any heart-stopping romance. But, then, it doesn’t need those things because it is an easy read, just perfect for a reader in need of a feel-good, quiet, cozy afternoon story.

Disco music and dancing prevent any future happiness for Smella and Deadwood.

Romance Novel is exactly what the title promises, and more so. The story is a parody of every romance novel with a hero, heroine and minor characters all struggling to find their place.

Smella Rosepetal is a virgin looking for a rich husband. Not for herself but to enable her baby to have a life saving operation (see the confusion – a virgin with a baby?). She leaves little Joshua or Adam or Austin (his name changes every time he’s mentioned) with her best friend Ebony while she returns to her home town to seek out the richest man she can find.

Romance Novel is hilarious. It takes a normal romantic story and accentuates all the bits that are not usually mentioned. Question: How could a virgin have a baby? Answer: Because she needed a baby for the plot.

Ms. Jones plays on these anomalies all the way through the book, and these provide a funny, well thought out book. Add to this the lack of sporty, rich vehicles, men with fabulous bodies, heroines with brains and you have an ideal romantic novel, or at least a parody of one.

Once she learns his secret motive, Randolph means to silence her, but chance and Josselin, the French Privateer intervene. Together Sibylla and Josselin have to save Gerard from danger and the King from his enemies. Have they time?

In Sibylla And The Privateer, Marina Oliver brings us into a world of yesteryear: a world of old-style courtesy, but also of swashbuckling heroism; of domineering parents and persistent scoundrels, hot tempered young women and unexpected decency.

Sybilla is in love – and the only thing that mars this perfect relationship, is Randolph’s inexplicable desire to keep it a secret! Somehow this doesn’t seem as though he is the perfect man.

It can be a bit tough to sympathize with our heroine; she is, after all, too impatient and never hesitates to speak her mind. However, she’s snappy and interesting and never fails to keep your attention. She can hardly fathom her family’s attitude, but we guess that their suspicions come as no surprise to Randolph. A hint of something far off and historical about all the character’s speech intrigues and gives a hint of old-time flavor, but also slows the action. The dialogue isn’t bad but I find that I read it more and more impatiently. The author indulges in long paragraphs of back story, slowing the pace at the start. On the other hand, the ‘real’ action is so exciting, so ‘in the moment,’ that it more than makes up for those slower parts, and makes this ultimately very worth reading! I suspect that fans of the older style historic novel will not find anything to complain about…

If a taste of the sea is what you are after, Ms. Oliver surely does not disappoint: from the swarthy pirate searching hapless vessels for plunder, difficulties involving sailing, and the requisite swordplay, it is all here! Surprisingly, though all things appropriately ‘pirate’ appear, the plot is fresh and unpredictable, characters enjoyable, and all the action keeps you turning the pages. Do read.
