In the books I’ve read about abusive relationships they aren’t in the sibling arena. It’s not that I’ve avoided the familial abusive relationship, it’s just I haven’t read any. This being my first experience, it was definitely intense.

Emily has a very unpredictable relationship with her brother. She’s always on edge when he’s around, not knowing what kind of mood he will be in. Chris immediately becomes the villain of this story since he’s supposed to be protecting and caring for Emily, not abusing her. Although Chris’ character doesn’t interact a lot with the others, his scenes are intense and emotionally challenging for the reader to witness. His presence is felt throughout the rest of the story because of the deep rooted abuse his encounters with his sister have left behind.

Cole and Adam McCade have always felt protective of Emily since she first came to their ranch. The title of the book is quite appropriate to the story since Emily does get ‘saved’ in more ways than one. The sex was beyond stimulating and very refreshing in that it didn’t seem redundant. It’s an unfortunate thing for men in the real world because the men in this tale have definitely raised the bar. I would love to know what’s next on the horizon for this talented author.

I would’ve liked to have seen things through Dave’s eyes, though. I get that this was an journey for Nancy, but I wanted to get his side of things – how did he feel? Why keep the club a secret? I just wanted more of him since he seemed so yummy in the descriptions. I also didn’t see his need to keep the secret, but everyone has those things they don’t really want to share, so the reader can identify with his reluctance.

Nancy is interesting in her own right. At times she came across as a tad horny, but after the series of events, it was expected. I laughed as she got the waxing. Not having the stamina or the threshold for pain to try it, it was hilarious to live vicariously through her. I liked how she grew through the story as well. Where at first she seemed naive, the transformation is nice to read about. I loved the person she became because she could show more of her chutzpah.

If you want a story that has a little spice, a little mystery and a lot of personal experience, then you need to read Dave and Nancy’s Story. I give it three cherries.
