A high school art teacher must choose between her students and the artist she never stopped loving.

High school art teacher Julianne Truman’s last chance to save her beloved art department from budget cuts is to sell the old sketches that her former boyfriend—and now famous artist—Zane DeMonde drew for her. But is she prepared to let go of his artwork and the last traces of him in her life?

Desperate to save his artistic reputation from the exposure of his early works, Zane returns to the home town he wanted to forget. He accuses Julianne of profiting from his success and demands she take his art off the market and cancel the auction.

Their high school attraction flares back to life, forcing Julianne to choose between the students who count on her and the man she never stopped loving.

Julianne Truman hadn’t seen Zane DuMonde in over fifteen years – since he’d walked away from her and the future she’d thought they’d share. Zane insists she not sell some old artwork he’d given her, but determined to raise some much-needed funds for her high school art students, Julianne isn’t going to be talked out of it. A steamy kiss gets both their hearts racing – but who will win in the tug of war between Zane and Julianne, and what will happen to the sketches?

This is a spin on the old-style classic “bad boy returns home bigger and better”. I found parts of this story were somewhat clichéd – such as the whole school supported Julianne’s brother and turned their back on Zane for merely defending himself, or his leaving town without a backward glance determined to prove himself and become a great success. Despite this, I thought the chemistry between Julianne and Zane was believable and steamy and the conflict of auctioning off Zane’s art work kept the plot moving and stopped it from becoming too predictable. I got a few snickers from Julianne’s brother, too – and would definitely be interested to read more about that character.

With a smoking hot sex scene you might not want to share with your grandma, this is overall a good, short read. Aside from a few tiny things, I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it for a broad range of readers as this encompasses many tastes. Small towns, returning bad boys, steamy sex and conflict over ownership of some artwork – I expect this to appeal to many various readers, and personally I liked it too. Recommended.

When Jo’s counselor offers her a lifeline, there’s a bunch of other misfits sharing the rope. Group sessions could help them to help each other, but Chris doesn’t like speaking and Alistair’s a self-confessed geek. Like Stevie, the joker, says, “Oh yeah, right bunch of bloody superheroes we are!”

Jo feels like the school counselor, Kirsty, is the only person she can talk to. So when their twelve provided sessions runs out, Jo feel a little like the world is ending. When Kirsty suggests Jo join in a group session on Saturdays at the local Community Center, Jo isn’t sure, but is willing to give it a try. She meets with four other kids from her school and together they can talk about anything and everything, and especially help each other with their problems. They become the Superhero Club.

This is a wonderful tale of a twelve year old learning how to overcome issues such as bullying, her parents’ divorce and her own struggles to grow up. I found it to be warm, inspiring and full of self-confidence boosters for pre-teens. Jo (and her mother) struggle with weight issues and teasing in particular, but deeper problems are also more carefully dealt with and discussed – things like “fake” or fair weather friends, learning to rely on yourself and not be needy, anger management issues and how to balance the desire to grow up but still retain the imagination and joy of being a twelve year old.

I loved how the kids came together, and how by expressing themselves as Superheroes and having special powers they could build themselves and each other up by focusing on their strengths. The kids really become good friends in a realistic fashion, ending up fully supporting each other and sharing their secrets, dreams and experiences. They learn that together they’re far stronger and the fact they’re not alone after all helps them all come to terms with their concerns. I found this to be a warm, wonderfully written story full of positive messages for pre-teens and one that left me with a great, optimistic feeling.

Everyone in town seems to know something Libby and Ethan don’t, but it isn’t them they’re talking about.

After moving from Southern California to a unique, beautiful, and bizarre enclave of Western Washington, recently married Libby and Ethan try settling into a new life in a seemingly ideal home. The couple confronts the difficulties of relocation and the challenges of a young marriage, while strange occurrences in the house gradually become too pronounced to ignore. As their relationship experiences increasing strain, Libby and Ethan begin questioning the influence of the house and discover its shocking past. Shunned by the community as outsiders and finally admitting a supernatural presence in their house, Libby and Ethan must decide what is most important to them.

Every house talks to itself at night. Pipes rattle, duct work expands and contracts with changing temperatures, shutters flap in the wind and sometimes inanimate objects soar across the room.

At least that’s what is happening in Libby and Ethan’s new place.

Moving halfway across the country to start a new job is simultaneously exhilarating and exhausting. I winced in sympathy as Ethan attempts to find a friendly soul to sell him a cord of firewood or give him the inside scoop on the best place in town for a hot cup of coffee as Libby adjusted to her boss and coworkers.

Weird things begin to occur almost as soon as this couple moves into their new rental but Ethan and Libby have an excuse for every one of them. I still wonder why two computer-savvy, intelligent adults wouldn’t have investigated the clues sooner either through a simple Internet search or by visiting the archives at the local library. In their shoes this would have been my first reaction to certain inexplainable events and their passive reactions to the presence in their home and all of the contradictions they encounter distracted me from what was an otherwise good story.

In the beginning I wished the plot would speed up a little bit as the hints about what was actually happening were punctuated by what I considered to be a few too many subplots. It was rewarding to piece everything together, though, once I realized this book was meant to be a slow, subtle burn. The last few sentences were particularly chilling and begged for a sequel. While I don’t know if the author has any plans to do so I hope to hear from Libby and Ethan again soon!

The Yellow House on Maloney Grove has all the elements of old-fashioned horror. I read it over an exceptionally dreary weekend and jumped out of my skin once or twice when wooden fixtures groaned unexpectantly as they contracted and expanded. While Jake realizes he’s falling in love, he also understands there’s far more to Arthur than the sweet, gentle man he initially thought his host was.

This book is both erotic and quite mysterious. Written equally like an M/M romance and spooky campfire story it’s an awesome blend of both worlds. The author does a great job of giving the reader hints and tidbits of the secrets Arthur holds, and I found myself eagerly reading, wanting to know more. I found the authors style interesting and easy to get into, both Jake and Arthur are well drawn characters. Some of the mysticness around Arthur’s situation remains foggy – but I get the feeling the author did this on purpose. Too much thought or explanation might have left the story feeling clinical – but a part of me would have liked a better-explained solution, nevertheless. The setting of the big old mansion and the snowstorm reminded me vividly of many spooky stories, and the paranormal bent really makes this more than your average M/M erotic piece. I didn’t find the story pushed as far as horror or a graphic, scary tale at all, which really pleased me.

With mystery, hot romance, a hint of ghosts and the paranormal and intriguing characters this is a story that covers many bases. I enjoyed the meshing of these and felt it overall a well written and fulfilling read.

When Carly vowed things would be different, she had no idea how right she was.

Carly’s used to being the new girl in school. She knows how it always goes, but this time, she’s got a plan. Everything’s going to be different here.

But she doesn’t count on falling for Jane. Nor on the fact that Jane hates jocks like Carly. In fact, Jane hates almost everything that interests Carly, especially the quiet, mysterious Tommy Mack.

To make matters worse, she has to figure out where she stands on drugs, alcohol, and a new and different kind of loneliness. She’s spent most of her life passing through, now she has to learn what it takes to belong.

Being the new girl in school sucks, especially when you move around so frequently that you always seem to be the new girl. Carly has tried to make the best out of life, even if what she truly longs for is a stationary home where she can develop real friendships. As she enters Astoria High School she hopes that this will finally be the place she can call home for a while.

Add onto the fact that her father usually contributes or causes mass layoffs and you have a socially awkward life for a young teen girl to deal with. My heart really went out to Carly and her need to fit in. Every teenager wants to fit in and develop solid friendships, sometimes more than they want to breathe. Carly is at an age where relationships play a large role in not only her present life, but also in her future so I kept my
fingers cross that she could find a place where she truly belonged.

The romantic plot in this story is very G rated, as long as you are not squeamish about a gay relationship. I appreciated the fact that the author wrote Carly and Jane’s self discovery so tastefully. I got to experience the confusion a young girl can face when figuring out what she wants in a partner, and that the same issues arise in any relationship whether it be bisexual, straight, gay or anything in between.

While the relationship does play a role in the story it is not the main plotline. This story is really just about a girl trying to fit in and discovering who she is. I found it inspirational for young girls and boys who just want to know that they are not alone during this confusion time in life. As an adult it helped to remind me about what life was like at that age, and think about what my own children or either experiencing or may experience in the future, and think of ways it can help make it easier on them.

I found some of the relationships and connecions within this story a bit frail and confusing at times. While I do understand that Carly herself was also confused due to her lack of experience and age, I would like to have seen a bit more conviction in the development. For example, some of her friendships even in the end of the story were a bit undefined for me. Just a bit more understanding on where everyone stood would have been appreciated.

This story would not be appropriate for younger children because it does involve drugs. While they are not being used by any of the characters, it does discuss the usage and distribution of illegal drug use. Again, the author does this in a very tasteful manner and actually teaches a lesson about not only the use and selling of drugs but even about associating with
individuals who are involved in drugs. This would be a great story to open up a communication between parents and teens about drugs as well as peer-pressure. With so many life lessons this would be a great story for teens and parents to read together or separately.

What’s worse, to my surprise, I actually like Lady DuMond. Should I warn her about the fact Baron Charles Azul has a reputation as a lady killer, figuratively and literally?

And why are we only traveling at night?

Between the beast behind us and the one waiting for us, I don’t see how we’re getting out of this situation. But, I’m not going down without a fight.

How do you outrun a beast that never gives up?

The unnamed narrator of this book certainly has his hands full! It’s difficult enough to travel on horseback over rough roads with a stranger when you’re not worried about her safety. He comes across as a man with little to no experience communicating with members of the opposite sex who come from his social class much less a noblewoman. I imagine that he’d much rather protect someone who doesn’t have such strong opinions about life.

Lady Daphne’s astute description of her impending arranged marriage made me instantly like her. She is understandably wary of marrying a stranger based on what he’s told her about his life in a letter before but is determined to give it her best shot. At times I wished I could view certain scenes from her point of view as she was such an intriguing character. As interesting as the narrator was I actually found myself spending more time wondering about Lady Daphne’s thoughts.

The metaphors were also quite memorable. The most vivid example of the care Mr. White took in painting unforgettable scenes involved a ship called The Alexander violently crashing into a dock in one of the first scenes. I shuddered in sympathy as he described the hull being torn apart by the terrible collision as if it was a living entity.

Despite clocking in at 20 pages Shades of Blue feels like a full length novel. I finished it wishing there could be more to this tale and hoping that Mr. White gives readers another opportunity to get to know these characters better in the future.

Shades of Blue is the perfect choice for anyone who loves surprises. I had a tentative theory about what might happen to Lady Daphne and the narrator early on but learning the truth was as entertaining as revising my predictions along the way!

In order for Mack’s plan to work, he needed someone’s help, so he went to Delivery by Cupid and enlisted the help of Damios Persis who upon hearing what Mack had planned decided to get to know Mack’s target which was Rori.

Cupid Only Rings Twice was a very cute story that was short but entertaining. The developing relationship between Rori and Damios was fun to watch and when they finally got together it was worth the wait. The premise of the story was interesting and the introduction of Damios’ competitor Zach who operated a similar business called Love Demon was a nice twist.

The competition between Damios and Zach, one trying to protect Rori and the other not caring about protecting her helped broaden the story. I’ve read quite a few books by Sam Cheever and I have not been disappointed, her style of writing and the way she introduces her characters always makes for a good reading experience.

Fifteen-year-old Stacy questions the strange world of high school, love, her role in a harsh universe, and life, in Normalish.

People tell you high school’s so great and wonderful, but they’re lying. It’s mostly horrible and full of disappointment. It sucks. Your best friend abandons you. The jerk you’re in love with pretends to be into you, and then the big dump. The boy you’ve really clicked with as a friend decides to go all crushy over you, so you break his heart just like yours was — smashed into little pieces. Your sister goes mental, and you get involved with a guy who’s even crazier than she is (who you know is a very bad idea, but you do it anyway). Math only adds another stink of failure to the whole thing.

High school blows. Just ask freshman Stacy. She’d want you to know.

In Normalish reader is following the ups (toward the end) and downs (at the beginning) of the 15 year old Stacy through her freshmen year in high school. And she is facing some tough challenges and choices, and she is dealing with lot of not so nice things. The main problems in Stacy life are:

– her father is dead
– her older sister starts to act strange and end up institutionalized

Penegra 100mg with sildenafil tablets india discount comes in oral form to make the intake more easy and convenient. – her middle school best friend is best friend no more
– she has neither a boyfriend nor money, nor new clothes
– she hates math

Throughout the course of the story many things on this list will change for the worst in order to get finally better. Stacy’s heart will be broken, but she will also break someone else’s, and she will find a love only to lose it. She will lose the best friend, get a new friend, got a job. She will grow up and realize that thing cannot be normal, because no one can actually define what normal means and that she should be happy and enjoy life instead of feeling guilty because she is happy.

Margaret Lesh’s writing is great because, let’s be honest, often in the YA novels the voice of the main character can be either too childish, or too mature for the character age. But here Stacy’s voice is kept on her age level through whole story. Furthermore Stacy is a great character; on one hand she is vulnerable, while on the other is brave, outspoken and she knows how to stand up for herself.

But Stacy’s character is not the only one that makes this story so good. The secondary characters are well defined and they bring a whole new juiciness to the story. I particularly like Stacy’s sister’s boyfriend and Bobby (the boy Stacy meets while visiting her sister in the mental facility), because they are different, quirky, nice, and warm at the same time. I also like the family dynamics between Stacy, her sisters and mom. These girls really care for one another and they lean on each other and there is special bond between them that is so well described in the story. All in all, Normalish is great heartwarming story with the beautiful characters that I enjoyed tremendously.

Normalish is contemporary Young Adult novel. It is not Young Adult romance novel, although it has romantic elements. It is a good story that I recommend to readers of all ages who like to read Young Adult/ Middle grade genre.

I’m finishing this review with one of my favorite quote from the book:

“Normal” is all about perception. I mean, isn’t “normal” what the majority of people do? So what if suddenly ninety-nine people out of a hundred decide to walk their iguanas down the street while wearing a tutu? Wouldn’t the one guy who didn’t own an iguana and wear a tutu be the freak? And isn’t it the ones who seem normal on the outside who, in actuality, know where the bodies are buried in the backyard or are secretly in love with their toaster?
