Nothing could ever ruin this for Ogun.

But with treacherous humans threatening the Orc Nation, magical and cultural landmines to traverse, and a new wife added to the mix, Ogun and Rotic’s lives are changing faster than they can blink. Ogun and Rotic have to learn to adjust and overcome before the differences between them become an insurmountable mountain that will destroy them both.

Don’t fight the mothers, because you won’t win!

Oh, man. I loved this book. For once, the Orcs are an honourable race, honest and to the point, full of integrity. I can’t say how long I’ve wanted a story like this, and Ms. Burke delivered fully.

It is hot and saucy, with the scenes between Ogun full of love and laughter, plus plenty of misunderstandings about how the world goes around. I loved that it was the humans and the Elves – okay, Dark Elves, but you get where I’m coming from – that were the ones causing trouble.

As for the mothers, well. That was love, pure and simple. They loved Rotic and only wanted the best for him. Luckily, that included Ogun. I am hoping to return to this so I can see how they treated his ‘wife’, plus how Meti got on with his consort and wife too.

A brilliant story that was over too soon for my liking. Absolutely recommended by me.

Lionel, a necromancer and consultant for the Brunswick Police Department, wants nothing to do with immortals. Specifically, he wants nothing to do with Lucifer, who shows up on his doorstep one day with a ridiculous proposal. Lucifer, also known as the Devil, wants Lionel to be his pretend boyfriend. Except the pretend part is something the Devil doesn’t really seem to care for.

Lucifer has read enough romance novels to know that a good dose of forced proximity might be just the thing to get the stubborn necromancer he desires into his bed. The Devil’s plans are soon complicated when Lionel proves more uncooperative and oblivious to love than Lucifer could ever anticipate.

While the Devil wants to claim Lionel, all Lionel wants is to get away from Lucifer. Meanwhile, magic users are being murdered in the city. Lionel cannot escape the implications of those murders for long, and the case soon takes a different turn. Will Lionel be able to escape the Devil’s thrall, or will the necromancer fall for the immortal seducer?

Enter a world where magic users, including necromancers, help out the Police Department; where you can find cursed Hellpoodles, and Lucifer prefers to be called Lucy.

The blurb offered me so much, and I was looking forward to reading this. This was good but could have been so much better! Unfortunately for me – and I’ll probably be in the minority here – but it just never felt like it delivered. Lionel is full of snark, but you never get a reason why… unless it’s the old “I really like him, but I don’t” which seems to be the theme of this book. There is a warning about DubCon and I would take note! The mystery side is an afterthought, taking up very little page space.

Neither of the main characters was memorable for me. I much preferred Trony and Tiamet and would like to see more of them in the future. They, plus others, helped move this story along. Christine was fun to read about as she was not prepared to take any sh*t from Lionel.

I’ve read others by this author and enjoyed them more. I feel like this will be a book to split opinions. I think you will either fall in love with it or just find it meh. All in all, a quick, okay read.

Their shared adversity forges a bond between them, but will they be free to acknowledge their love for each other, or will her ruthless father capture her and drag her away from the man she’s coming to love?

What would you do if a ghost is not a ghost and can only remember just who he is by touching you?

This is the dilemma Princess Sabina finds herself in. She has run away from home, determined not to marry the cruel man her father has chosen. Unfortunately, money speaks louder than morals, and she is betrayed and thrown into a haunted cell.

This was a great little coffee-break book. There is a story here, even if it isn’t too deep, and characters you can get behind. It is steamy – once Sabina decides she wants to lose her virginity, and once Killian finds his body and memories! There is also an emotional connection between the two and it could easily be expanded into a full-length novel if so desired, giving more background to the father, cruel prince, and our main characters and Killian’s kingdom. Everything was sorted out just a little too easily but that’s me being picky.

All in all, this is a book that gives you exactly what it offers. Thoroughly enjoyed it and have no hesitation in recommending it.

That’s what happens to Talon when she is mated to a shifter called Parker in her previous pack. He is not her mate but was ‘given’ her as a reward for being loyal. So when that pack is taken over and some of them integrate into a new pack, you can be sure of trouble when her real mate shows up.

This was a quick read with all the parts I love in a shifter story. There are fated mates where the path is anything but smooth, humour, steam, and most importantly for me, a HEA! I just wish there had been more of it!

This is the second book in the Katu Wolves series and although I read this as a standalone, I’m not sure if reading book one would have been more beneficial to me. At least then I would have had some idea about Slade’s pack and how the takeover worked. Still, maybe that’s me wanting more… again!

On the whole, this was a great read for a coffee break. If you like shifter romances, I see no reason why you won’t like this!

Mandy finds this out when she becomes friends with Lena and her brother, Antek. She starts off being envious of Lena and her clothing/life/you name it, but her attention quickly moves onto Antek. He is twice her age and has baggage, more so than some people. Mandy is happy with the way he is and wants him in her life.

Told from the first perspective, this allows you an insight into what Mandy was thinking and feeling. However, I would have liked to have heard from Antek and his past, as it has direct relevance to who he is today. They went through so much together and yet he was voiceless. I was left with questions about this once I had finished, although I did enjoy the story. There was also the relationship with the mother that I needed more about as that was odd from the beginning.

There is on-page rape in this story, so please take notice of the trigger warning.

If you are after a not-to-deep, dark romance with an age gap then this may be the one for you.

A holiday home perched above the town and its breath-taking harbour seems like the perfect place to unwind. Matt can’t wait to explore the beautiful, jagged shorelines and lose himself for a couple of weeks.

Jake has made a home in Nyemouth. After growing up in the city, living on the coast is everything to him. Running a business with his sister and volunteering on the crew of the local lifeboat, he is exactly where he wants to be. But Jake’s life is far from peaceful. Though he left his domineering husband Vince a year ago, Vince refuses to consent to a divorce or loosen his controlling hold on Jake.

On Matt’s first night in town, he encounters the couple having a blazing row. When Vince turns violent, Matt intervenes and takes Jake inside to escape his angry ex. Despite what happened, Matt feels a powerful attraction to the younger man. Jake is bright, endearing and unbelievably attractive, but the young man’s life is complicated. Matt already has enough problems of his own. He came away looking for an escape, not a starry-eyed distraction. As Matt and Jake get to know each other better, the gamble on a holiday romance becomes hard for either of them to resist. They have both been unlucky in love before. Maybe this time will be different.

Vince will not be shaken off so easily. He has no intention of letting Jake go…ever. As Matt’s and Jake’s emotions deepen, they do not understand how far Vince will take things to keep his husband. As far as Vince is concerned, they made a vow to each other… “till death do us part.”

A holiday romance by the sea. How wonderful – but what happens when you throw in some danger too?

This was a great read from Thom Collins. It is sweet and sexy, with just the right pace to keep the story moving along without it being at breakneck speed. Matt and Jake are brilliant characters and have their own posse of supporting characters to ably assist them. Vince and Clinton are the crazy ex’s, although one is just a tad crazier than the other!

This is book two in the Jagged Shores series but I haven’t read book one and this in no way impacted my enjoyment of this story.

The settings and descriptions are all gorgeous and immediately make me want to visit these fantastic areas of Northumberland. Plus, some of the food descriptions made my mouth water!

A wonderful summer read that is both lighthearted and has a touch of danger. I thoroughly enjoyed every word and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Nathan Pratt doesn’t want much from life except to raise his son and be happy. Dating isn’t on this single father’s radar until he sees Charles in the castle solarium and his heart goes out to the sad-looking man. Once he meets Charles, he starts to think love might be possible. There’s just the small issue of Charles being the king…

Will Nathan be able to handle the glare of the spotlight with Charles beside him, or will the notoriety that comes with dating a royal be too much?

Just when you think you’re in the clear, the wicked stepmother throws another spanner in the works.

Although you could read this as a standalone, I would recommend you read it after Runaway Royal by Wendi Zwaduk. It features the same characters and places as in that one, so it will help give you more of an idea of what’s going on.

Now, Charlie helped Zara in that book, but now it’s his turn. And due to his stepmother’s decree, he has to marry someone by the end of the year or give his crown away to someone who is unscrupulous, devious, and just plain nasty. Luckily for Charlie, he meets the new Royal Archivist, Nathan, who is about to make everything better.

Just as before, this moves at supersonic pace, but it still seems to work. Insta-love all around, in fact, this time it’s insta-family too as little baby River is also involved. The openings are there for many more stories in this series. There are a couple of plot-holes that weren’t explained, and then other times when things go almost unrealistically smoothly.

Still, if you can suspend belief, you will enjoy this contemporary fairy tale, as recommended by me.

And then she meets Luke.

Luke Cobb wants to survive college with a degree in studio art and guarantees that he can show his paintings in the local galleries. All he needs is the right break to get his work mainstream and the right woman to stoke his dormant muse. When he meets Zara, he’s smitten and his creativity sparks.

Except, she’s a princess and he’s a commoner, which could be a big problem…

Oh, if only my problems were as easily solved as Zara’s! She really is the poor little rich girl who hasn’t been treated very nicely by her suitors and so has trust issues. Of course, she falls for Luke. He’s a ‘peasant’, after all, with a heart of gold and an instant karmic connection.

Part of me wants to dislike this book – simply because it has one pace and that is FAST. Not only that, but issues and problems fade away as though it’s just a story… hold on! And for that reason, part of me thoroughly enjoyed this book. It IS fiction, it is far-fetched, problems ARE solved easily, love is instant, and sex IS on tap whenever you want.

This is a fun, frolicking story that allows you to suspend belief in, well, pretty much anything as you read about love, heartache, betrayal, loyalty. It’s all here and more enjoyable than it has a right to be!

I can’t wait to find out more about Charlie, although he also seems to fall in and out of love just like getting on and off a bus. Still, a fantasy of romance is always good for me, and so I can happily recommend it.

She falls foul of trouble and a big rescue attempt is undertaken.

There’s a lot to this story. Lots of sex (obviously – it’s erotica) but also love, romance, torture, the old Wild West that feels like it shouldn’t fit in with the Sci-Fi theme but somehow does, in love with the wrong person, you name it.

I loved the difference in characters and the fact that we have not one, not two, but three couples in this story that are all searching for love, four if you count Secondary. The world-building was clear and, although I didn’t quite get on with Mardeath, he and his gang did help move the story along.

This was a quick, hot read that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

With the help of the hunky godling across the street, Maddy must learn to set aside her family traditions and work with another before the poltergeist destroys her.

A witch, a poltergeist, and a godling are all in a park – sounds like the start of a joke. It’s not! What it is, is a great short story about a poltergeist who has haunted the witch’s family for generations, and a godling who may be related to it. As this is a short story, the focus is on them and their sexy times, rather than them getting to know each other.

There is a story to it though, and you stay with Maddy and Cedric as they help heal each other after a bout with the poltergeist, plus how they work together to find more out about him, and figure out what to do with him.

This is an easy read, with plenty of steam. A perfect coffee break book. Definitely recommended by me.
