Janice was instantly attracted to him as he was to her, and it was cute to see how Janice tried to overlook the age difference while Antonio didn’t see a problem with it. The characters were engaging but this reader felt that there wasn’t a lot of chemistry between them, there was sex but something was missing. The story moved a little slowly at times, but the interaction between the characters made up for that. The author made sure that the reader saw Janice’s internal struggle of knowing that she was older, while Antonio tried to convince her that it didn’t matter.

Ice Cream Man is a pleasant story and I enjoyed how the author brought the characters to life for you, which helped you as the reader to care that these two people get together.

Instead of convincing her to initiate proceedings, which would award her nothing, he teams up with a man he knows only as “Mr. Smith” to have her disposed of.

This was an interesting short story. The writing was easy to follow, and the points of view, though they shifted very often, were clearly defined. In the end, all questions were answered, and the action was easy to follow.

This book is marketed as erotic romance, but didn’t seem to fit in the erotic category, which is what I would normally expect with an eXstasy published book. There was no love story, besides those that were inferred, and no love scenes at all. The only adult aspects seemed to be a handful of curse words and some description of gore, but nothing over the top. I would have enjoyed the suspense of the story a bit more, but unfortunately the tease printed just before the title page gave away the twist at the end. Because of the frequent point of view shifts, there was little mystery in any character’s actions, since we were able to get into each person’s head as the story unfolded.

Despite its negatives, it’s a quick, clever read. With a change in the opening teaser, and maybe being told from one main point of view rather than many, perhaps the mystery could be played up more. If you have only a few minutes and want a interesting little time killer, this one is an intriguing escape.

I enjoyed the beginning of the book with Jane taking her boss’ car to the meeting but stopping at the Halloween maze. Ms. Pauli did a wonderful job setting the scene for this creepy attraction stuck in the middle of nowhere. When Jane gets lost it in, I felt scared for her and wondered if she’d ever get out of there alive.

When she finally arrives at the meeting, we met her boss. I struggled to like him, and couldn’t really see her attraction to him. Enter the sexy vampire she met at the maze and things go from bad to very good for her.

Despite its fun plot, engaging dialogue and smoking hot sex, the story did have some jarring scenes. For instance, one minute Jane was at the meeting, the next she seemed to be back at the maze and I couldn’t quite follow along. There are some truly funny moments and of course, some very sexy ones too. I also liked the exchanges between Jane and the vampire.

I enjoyed Thrice Shy and recommend it. With the thread of humor throughout, it is a different take on vampire paranormals.

Then Kevin walks into her life. Quinn has been so focused on finding her lost sibling she hasn’t taken the time to consider she might need someone to watch out for her.

Kevin is also at a crossroads in his life. When these two souls meet nothing’s quite the same, which was nicely portrayed by the author. The dialogue is natural sounding and the pacing perfect for making this a quick read on a winter’s night.

This is romance at its finest because you know the characters are going to find their HEA. It’s the journey they take, including the past that brought them to the point of meeting, that will keep you reading. If you’re looking for a feel good story, full of steam, heat and characters you’ll like, I recommend A Snowflake’s Chance in Hell.

One of the hallmarks of Ms. O’Malley’s writing is her stellar characterization. I enjoyed the characters very much. Both Aaron and Bronwyn are likable, if not flawed, main characters. This book runs the gamut of emotions. Love. Lust. Deception. Anger. Bitterness. Forgiveness. I became completely invested in them, and had no problem cheering for their HEA. The general premise of the story was great. While I truly liked this book, there was one issue that kept it from being everything I’ve come to expect from this author. I love Tierney O’Malley’s work and have read a lot of her books but this story too much on the past and not enough on the present story. Usually a book with lots of detail can draw me in, but the characters spent so much time dwelling on the past that the present didn’t stand a chance. I guess what I’m saying is that I’d have liked to have seen a more even distribution of past and present rather than it being so past-heavy.

The thing that keeps bringing me back to Ms. O’Malley’s writing is the way she draws a reader in with her characters and the situations they get into. Investing in her as an author to enjoy is a smart choice and one that I will make again in the future.

Sergei is new to the Hawks. He’s been sent to play for this farm team to escape the abuse and taunting from his previous team, the Cougars. Sergei is an openly gay man and that makes him a target on the ice. He may be small but he is a force to be reckoned with. He’s an extremely good hockey player and doesn’t let others prejudices keep him down. The only thing keeping him off balance is his attraction for the team captain, Kip. As I read, my heart broke for Sergei because he so in love with Kip, but Kip is straight, or so Sergei thinks.

Kip hides who he really is in fear of being outed. He believes if word got out, any hopes of playing in the NHL would be over. After Sergei is attacked during a game, Kip can’t hold back his emotions or feelings for his little hockey player anymore. What Kip does to prove his love for Sergei was a tear jerking moment.

Hockey is a very aggressive sport and Ms. Hecht did an excellent job describing the sport as well as the violent acts that take place on the ice. The love scenes shared between these two men were very descriptive and explosive. The attraction and love these men have towards one another will suck you in and keep you reading to the very end. I love this series and hope there are more to come. If you’re looking for an energetic and captivating read, I highly recommend Cup Check.

Ms. Xander depicts some of the before and after effects of that abuse quite well, so reader’s should be warned if this is not subject matter they would like to read.

This being the first in a series and my first read by this talented author, I am excited for more. It will be interesting to see who the focus of the next book will be and how the plot will continue to thicken.

She is determined to avoid the man who ‘bought’ her from her father before his death, and when Lord Kalowell and his troops approach, Nasha is at the head of her small group of warriors, defending the keep to the end. When she is captured, she pretends to be a servant, and tries to escape and reach her people.

Thorn Kalowell is determined to find the avatar of Ithena, for it is the only way to satisfy his own inner star, and bring prosperity and peace to the people. He isn’t aware that the servant he has in chains is, in fact, the woman he seeks throughout the land.

When Nasha discovers that things aren’t as she was lead to believe, she gives in to Thorn, in hopes that her passion will draw Ithena to the surface so she can fulfill the promise she made to Eshkar; that when they each had the perfect avatar, they would join to create a child with the power of the stars. And although Ithena is a star, she has the same fears any female has, and isn’t sure she is ready for motherhood. Can Nasha and Thorn work through this, and find passion together? Will Nasha accept her destiny when she finds the truth is better than she could have hoped? Can Thorn break through the walls that Nasha has erected around her heart for a happy ever after?

He is determined to find his destined mate, not knowing he already has her in his home. I enjoyed watching Thorn slowly unravel the mystery, and finally claim his mate once she is revealed.

There are some surprising twists here, especially the one about Ithena. I liked the idea that for once, the star was the one hesitating to join her mate, and that it was up to the avatars to lure her out to her proper place with Eshkar. I look forward to more adventures with Ms. Grace’s wonderful, blue skinned Hashka, and the growth of these worlds of fantasy and imagination.

Venya is skeptical of Morrer’s motives at first, but as she becomes more comfortable with him, she realizes he tells the truth. As they travel, trying to elude the priests, Venya learns that she has been chosen by Searaline as her emissary, to bring the star back to her place in the heavens above Morvigeth alongside her husband Lassing. Together, Morrer/Lassing and Venya/Searaline will heal the planet and bring new life and prosperity to all. Can Venya accept the challenge ahead and stay on Morvigeth with Morrer? Can they stop the priests once and for all? Most important, can Morrer gain the approval of Venya’s parents to be Venya’s mate?

I found this book to be especially satisfying, seeing the retribution visited on the rogue priests by Venya/Searaline as she sought to cleanse the temple on Morvigeth. Although darker than most of Ms. Grace’s stories, this was the only possible conclusion to this chapter of Hashka history.

Yes, there is some very graphic and bloody violence in both books, but it is done to depict what the two emissaries must overcome to save the planet once and for all. These two books are a bit darker in tone than anything I’ve read by Ms. Grace, but they are both riveting reading experiences well worth the time it takes to read them. I recommend both for those who like to see justice triumph over evil, and love shine through to defeat the bad guys.

Trey Canton has experienced more than most men his age: abuse, death, and the loss of an up-and-coming hockey career. Trey and his older twin brothers, Chad and Devon, play for the same rundown hockey farm team, the Hawks. Chad and Devon are the kind of brothers any person would love to have. They sacrificed their professional hockey careers to protect their little brother. Wade is a fan of goalie Trey Canton, but not until he meets him does he start to believe in the old saying love at first sight. Wade knows Trey and his brothers are keeping a secret and he has his suspicions but all in all it doesn’t matter, he knows what he wants, and that’s Trey. As you read you have the hope that Wade can prove to Trey he’s so much more just a pretty face and that he is someone a person can fall completely in love with.

This story deals with some serious issues but also has its funny moments. The dialogue is well written and keeps you glued to the story. Ms. Hecht has put together a very touching love story that shows everyone is worth being loved. This is the second story in the Blue Line Hockey series. This story can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the first in this series Offside Pass. You get more background story on Trey and his brothers. This is a story and series I highly recommend to read, you’ll be happy you did.
