Things couldn’t get worse. It was bad enough that Maggie had to spend the days with her boss and nemesis. Now to find out he’s a Dom at her favourite place to play?

Maggie Carpenter needs an escape from her everyday life and her overbearing boss. David Tomlinson has ruined her life and career by acquiring her family’s business and tying her to an untenable employment contract.

So she and her friend head for an evening at the Den to explore their wildest fantasies…only to find David there looking ridiculously sexy with a bare chest and a set of handcuffs attached to his belt loop.

David is just as shocked to find his spitfire employee at the Den. He leans against the wall, watching, unable to wrap his mind around the idea that the woman who constantly challenges him might be a sub. But when another Dom approaches her and she casts her gaze down, he sees another side of her.

His reaction to the submissive Maggie is immediate and sizzling hot and so is the unwelcome jealousy he experiences. He’s always had a strict no-fraternisation rule, but he’s determined to have her in his cuffs before the evening is out, despite the dozens of reasons he shouldn’t. He wants Maggie surrendered to him, in his cuffs, literally as well as figuratively.

Maggie is constantly at odds with her boss and longs for her escapes to the Den. When she finds David at the Den she is taken aback and annoyed. First he has intruded on her job and now he is in her personal life. Yet when David approaches Maggie with a mutual proposition she cannot pass it up. Can she keep her private life and her work life separate? Does she really want to?

I am a big fan of this author and series but found that this book did not draw me in like the others. While their story is hot I did not really connect with Maggie or David. I found David a bit too arrogant for me, even when he is trying to compromise. Maggie was just kind of there for me she really did not stand out. I did however like her best friend, now she has a strong personality. The relationship builds slowly between Maggie and David, which was good but it always seemed to be Maggie’s fault when something goes wrong. Just about everything that was wrong was because of her and she said as much herself. David barely agrees to ever being wrong and it makes Maggie seem too complacent in always taking the blame.

I did enjoy watching Maggie grow and open up. Seeing her realize her wrongs was a nice read. She has grown up one way and must learn to do things differently now with David around. The scenes that they have are intense and hot and the love that they develop begins to shine through in all that they do. While this story was not my favorite from this author this story was well written and I am excited to see what happens next in this series.
