Karma is a bitch—but then again, so am I.

Ten years ago, a group of men murdered my mother and thought they had killed me. I’ve spent every day since planning revenge against the man behind the attack—my father. As the head of a powerful crime family, he won’t be an easy target, but nothing matters more than making him pay for what he’s done.

Now, I return in disguise, only to end up on the radar of The Quad—the four most dangerous men in the city, men I’ve been desperately in love with since I was a teen. I have no idea if they were in on the plan to have me killed, but I can’t stop myself from craving their taste, their bodies and their rough, domineering touches. Even though I know the risks, I keep falling deeper into our twisted relationship.

My plan is simple—find and get rid of the people who carried out the attack, kill my father…and don’t fall in love with the men who might have betrayed me.

This world already killed me once—let it try again.

Kelsey’s life ended when she was seventeen years old. Now twenty-seven, Nem is determined to put right those who did her and her mother wrong. If she can just accomplish that without her old bodyguards figuring out who she is, that would be great.

As the story moves along, we find out more about Nem’s past and her relationship with the Quad. Their role in what happened is not answered, but it doesn’t look like they had anything to do with it. How they got played when they’re supposed to be the best, I don’t yet know. I’m hoping it will say in the next book.

The four men are all very different and there is never any confusion over which one is speaking or thinking. Their ways of dealing with Nem, however, are pretty much the same, so expect some heat.

The one thing that got me throughout is her eyes. It is mentioned how different they are; how only her father shares them with her. And yet, even though they were like family, no one in the Quad has noticed Nem’s eyes. Don’t get me wrong – I know people can change in ten years, and she’s dyed her hair, etc., but you can’t change your eyes without putting in contacts, of which there is no mention.

This is not a romance in the typically used meaning of the word. It’s about sex, ownership, and vengeance. So, if you are expecting fluffy kittens and rainbows, this is not for you. If you want a raw, gritty, steamy, and action-packed story then I have no hesitation in recommending it to you.

Will this runaway royal ever find her place…and true love?

All Princess Catherine Zara of Lysianna wants to do is attend college like everyone else her age. So she’s a royal and requires a security guard to move about in public, but if she goes to university, she doesn’t have to marry the man chosen for her. He’s not her true love, so why torture herself? All she has to do to get her life started is to run away to the US…

And then she meets Luke.

Luke Cobb wants to survive college with a degree in studio art and guarantees that he can show his paintings in the local galleries. All he needs is the right break to get his work mainstream and the right woman to stoke his dormant muse. When he meets Zara, he’s smitten and his creativity sparks.

Except, she’s a princess and he’s a commoner, which could be a big problem…

Oh, if only my problems were as easily solved as Zara’s! She really is the poor little rich girl who hasn’t been treated very nicely by her suitors and so has trust issues. Of course, she falls for Luke. He’s a ‘peasant’, after all, with a heart of gold and an instant karmic connection.

Part of me wants to dislike this book – simply because it has one pace and that is FAST. Not only that, but issues and problems fade away as though it’s just a story… hold on! And for that reason, part of me thoroughly enjoyed this book. It IS fiction, it is far-fetched, problems ARE solved easily, love is instant, and sex IS on tap whenever you want.

This is a fun, frolicking story that allows you to suspend belief in, well, pretty much anything as you read about love, heartache, betrayal, loyalty. It’s all here and more enjoyable than it has a right to be!

I can’t wait to find out more about Charlie, although he also seems to fall in and out of love just like getting on and off a bus. Still, a fantasy of romance is always good for me, and so I can happily recommend it.

College is all about learning, right?

Most college girls ‘swipe right’ to meet the right guy—Callie meets All-Star pitcher Zade while he’s buying tampons. College is all about learning, right?

How often do you meet your dream guy buying tampons at Target? Never, right? For Callie, a baseball-loving, hardworking college student, it happened just once. The magic was too real, too fast and too much, so she left the store without exchanging names.

But fate works in wonderful ways, right?

Zade Willows, the All-Star pitcher rumored to be drafted his senior year, gets what he wants. He has a fan club who follow his every move, but when he meets Callie, the game changes. She knows all his plays and that the game always ends—in heartbreak. But Zade doesn’t back down and is willing to try anything.

He’ll eventually get the girl, right?

When Zade and Callie meet at Target, they immediately connect. Challenge Accepted is a slow burn college sports romance that is sweet, fun and entertaining.

Zade and Callie meet when they are busy working on their college degrees. Neither one of them has any plans of settling down with one person. However, once they meet, it is impossible for them to fight their sizzling attraction. I thought Zade and Callie were perfect for each other. I loved these two together and enjoyed all their interactions; they have great dynamics and the bantering easily flows between them.

I loved Callie, she is smart and sassy and gives Zade a run for his money. I thought her confidence was her best attribute. Callie can’t help being attracted to Zade, a hot college baseball pitcher, but she treats him differently than the other girls on campus. She constantly keeps Zade on his toes. She sees him as a person not as a future pro baseball player, who will make a lot of money.

I liked Zade and I could understand why Callie was so attracted to him. On campus Zade has a reputation as a womanizer and it never bothered him, until he met Callie, the woman of his dreams. Zade likes everything about Callie, he has never met anyone like her, with Callie he has finally met his match. Zade wants more with Callie but he has to work hard before she trusts him. As they spend time together and the sparks fly, they slowly get to know each other and move toward a future together.

This is a slow burning and beautiful story. It has realistic character development and is easy to read, while being upbeat and tender. The characters are fun and likable and the story flows nicely. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, they are entertaining and add another dimension to the story. I highly recommend this sparkling and uplifting story.

I have many thoughts about One Motion More and the first thought that comes to mind is A+ for originality. I genuinely appreciate a book that includes social inclusion. I’ve never read a story where the main character, who in this case is the heroine, Natalie, is disabled. She can’t speak. I was intrigued to find out how Natalie and the hero, Xander, overcome the language barrier. Especially considering Xander is a rock star. I agree with the synopsis when it says they make an unlikely couple. That is why I needed to find out how they’d find their Happily Ever After.

I am familiar with the deaf culture after living near the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) in St. Augustine, FL for several years. I appreciate how the author accurately described Natalie’s world.

One Motion More started off capturing my attention immediately and held my interest throughout the well-paced book. I felt the characters were well developed and I enjoyed meeting each one. I am looking forward to book two being released.

Regarding the relationship and chemistry between Xander and Natalie, I had moments of joy and frustration. Xander was a bit too selfish for my taste and Natalie was a bit too forgiving for me. However, it all worked out in the end. They definitely were attracted to each other and I was pleased with the epilogue. It left me satisfied with their Happily Ever After.

One Motion More was a good read for me.

As for the three alphas, well, they are all different, yet complementary to each other. Ms. Carter got the voices exactly right as I was never in doubt over who was speaking.

This was a fast-paced read that kept my attention throughout. With some angst, plus suspense, this was a brilliant story that I have no hesitation in recommending.

The title was the first thing that drew me in. Then the story did. The question I had going in was; will she be able to convince him?

Devin and Jessica are so different. Devin is this tattooed, mechanic with a hard exterior and Jessica is so sweet and bubbly. I loved reading the battle of wills between both of them. If the preserves shop goes under, she and her gran are ruined.

But it’s scary how many suspects her poking around turns up—the sheriff’s jealous deputy, his pissed-off wife, the girlfriend he was about to dump his wife for, or even the handsome new deputy, Gus Haywood, whose city ways riled the stuffy sheriff. Belle can’t let this handsome stranger distract her, not when she has to clear her name and protect the town she loves, despite its people.

Well, maybe he can distract her a little…

Small towns can be quiet, but they’re not always necessarily peaceful.

There was so much care and attention put into the mystery elements of the plot. It was a great deal of fun to try to figure out who killed the sheriff, how they did it, and why they did it. I thought the number of clues was perfect, and I enjoyed the couple of red herrings the author threw in there was well to keep the audience on our toes.

One thing I would have liked to see more time spent on was the character development. Since this is the first instalment in a series, my hope is that the sequels will give the recurring characters a chance to show off sides of their personalities the audience hasn’t seen yet and grow as individuals as a result of their experiences in life. There is so much room for growth here. It makes me excited to see what comes next!

The world building was well done. Sweet Grove felt like many of the small towns I’ve lived in. It had a strong sense of community that supported every member when they needed it. This was also a place where gossip travelled at the speed of light and where having any semblance of a private life was all but impossible. I enjoyed seeing the characters navigate the benefits and drawbacks of living in a place where everyone knows their neighbors so intimately.

Everyone who enjoys small town mysteries should give The Mint Julep Murder a try.
