One of a million statistics in the intergalactic war, Jocelyn St. Germaine is captured, sold as a slave and then forced to fight in the Deg’Nara gladiator games. She’s slated to lose when Kanaan, the most feared warrior of all, claims her as his own.

With his help, Joss’s chances of survival increase, but is it enough?

Even the tadalafil canada online foreplay and your dirty talk won’t be very effective. An otherworldly romance with a world and characters that make me want to read more.

I love the character of Joss and how independent and strong she was. Not just mentally but physically since she had to fight alien fighters twice her size.

When Kanaan claimed her, I thought for sure she would make a scene and deny or say no to that. But that was not what happened. Joss is a lot more self aware than some of the strong independent female characters I read about. She knows her strong and weak qualities; I think she had to learn it to survive in a world dominated by men.

Kanaan is a warrior, through and through. What I did not expect with him was him knowing that Joss was special to him, and in typical male fashion not saying how much he liked her.

The author has built a very interesting and different world. There were words that I only started to understand after I finished reading one third of the book. Though, I was expecting more in terms of explaining what the words meant it in no way hindered my ability to finish reading it.

This is a part of a series and it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. There were a lot of different species and a couple pieces of information that took me so long to understand, it became disconcerting.

Abaddon Rising is set in a futuristic world that ensnared me until the end.

Was she pushed? Or did she take a purposeful step into darkness? Desperate for answers, Marissa digs deep into the events of the party. But what she remembers happening after nightfall now carries sinister implications: the ugly sniping, the clandestine meetings, the drunken flirtations. The more she investigates, the more she questions everything she thought she knew about her friends, the man she once trusted, and even herself.

We all have something we’d rather not tell anyone else. Secrets are the things that make the world go round, it seems, and none of us are immune. While not every secret is bad, sometimes they can be very, very deadly. Just ask anyone who attended dinner for Marissa Parlette’s engagement party. Although, you’d better hurry – one of them won’t make it out alive.

Everything is perfect in Marissa’s world. She’s engaged to the man of her dreams, she’s got a sweet stepdaughter-to-be, and she’s even reconnected with her long-time best friend, Lauren, after a long estrangement. What could possibly destroy her dream life? Although Marissa appears to be happy, she has her problems, too. For the most part, she deals with them well enough and doesn’t let any one thing take over her world. Then Lauren dies and she becomes obsessed with finding the truth at any cost.

After Nightfall is full of complex, suspicious characters, each one hiding something from everyone else. Even young Anna, Marissa’s soon-to-be stepdaughter, has something she’s hiding from everyone. I found myself suspecting everyone but not really having the slightest clue who was actually responsible. The reveal at the end surprised me because I hadn’t even thought that particular person could have been involved. I had believed that it had to be one of the other, more arrogant and obnoxious dinner attendants.

If you’re looking for a page-turning thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat, After Nightfall is an excellent choice. Well-written and told in an easy style that makes it engrossing and engaging, I found myself unable to stop reading, even for the important things like dinner! This was my first book by A. J. Nightmares or waking dreams? Only the keeper of the Legend knows… and it’s up to him to keep them from Harm!

By day, Jeffery is the best friend of Montague the Magician. By night, he’s the powerful warrior, Harm, The Legend, who leads a band of Berserkers—ridding the land of evil while saving villages by the score. Only Montague knows the villagers also have to cough up a hefty pouch of coin for the privilege of being rescued!

The more Jeffery tries to discover his lost memories, the vaguer Montague becomes until it’s too late not to tell the truth—at least part of it. But how could Jeffery ever imagine his entire life may be smoke and mirrors… just ephemeral fragments of dreams?

THE CYCLE OF HARM—enter a world of magic, mayhem, and mystery you may never be able to leave… if the Spirit of Lohocla captures you in its embrace!

I was excited to see this book pop up for review – I had read Ms. Snowy’s previous book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was not at all disappointed with this novel.

Ms. Snowy drops the reader squarely in the story with Montague and Harm imprisoned and Harm unconscious. I found myself wondering if this was the second part of a series and I had somehow missed the first book. Not to fear, though, I soon found myself caught up in the story.

I love these characters… especially Loom, a mute with a talent for communication, and Nolsun, who is caught up in the quest through no fault of his own. Their quest is saving villages… and they wander from village to village completing this task. Harm never remembers what happens once he becomes “the Legend” and Montague has to tell him the next morning. Harm trusts him without question.

There is more to this story that meets the eye and I cannot reveal more without major spoilers. This is a fun book—it’s an easy read and the characters are well worth spending a few hours with. Thanks, Ms. Snowy… I look forward to your next work.

After a period of brutal isolation in a CIA black-site prison, former Marine and gifted hacker Gibson Vaughn is free—but with no idea where he was or how much time he’s lost. Struggling to maintain his grip on reality, he races to return to the life he left behind. Angry and disoriented, his thoughts turn to vengeance and the man responsible for his rendition. But Gibson’s drive for retribution and the ghosts of his violent past plunge him back into a world he wants only to escape.

As old enemies and once-trusted allies resurface, the architects of a murderous conspiracy will beat a sinister path to Gibson’s doorstep. In discovering the shocking truth about those he thought he knew best, only one thing is certain: those responsible must be made to answer…and pay.

Gibson Vaughn’s having a rough day. After months in solitary confinement, Gibson’s released and dumped into a world he no longer recognizes. Things have changed and not all for the best. Will he be able to put the missing pieces back together before he goes completely off the deep end? Or with the long days in solitary win out in the end?

Gibson is an unusual sort of character. He’s very likable in that you can relate to his struggles with his ex-wife and daughter, plus all the loss he’s suffered prior to the story starting. You can also tell that, despite the fact he’s been used and abused by the government, he wants to do the right thing. However, sometimes he doesn’t always take the best course of action, or even the legal one. But it all factors into his complex personality. His hallucinations of his father and Bear only endeared him to me more. All of his good qualities work together to balance out some of the underhanded and illegal choices he makes during the course of the story. In some situations, he has no other choice.

Cold Harbor was an engaging and exciting thriller. Although I tend to shy away from such overly political and military based novels, the author did an excellent job of balancing out the technical with the rest of the story. I never felt bogged down by things I didn’t understand or didn’t care to know. I did feel lost for most of the novel, however, since I hadn’t read the two in the series beforehand. If you are planning on reading Cold Harbor, I definitely suggest you start at the beginning with The Short Drop. I’m planning on rereading this as soon as I’ve read the others in the series.

Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that was written with such up to date current events and current famous people. It will be clear to future readers what time era this book was written.

I have to note that this contemporary plot was quite original. I am an experienced reader and this plot was a refreshing read. I really enjoyed the entire book from beginning to end.

I never read a Nicola M. Cameron book before therefore I Googled to see what other books she has written since this one was such a pleasant surprise. I discovered that I’m not a candidate to read her other works. I only read historical romance, contemporary romance and a few suspense/mystery romance books. If she writes another contemporary I’d definitely give it a try.

To My Muse had me laughing quite a few times. The heroine, Lily, is quite funny. She was smart, down to earth and completely relatable. I liked all the characters but Lily’s best friend, Theresa, was the perfect BFF. Together they had me giggling. Then when you add Lily’s family into the mix, I was laughing more. Just when I didn’t think the book could make me crack up anymore I found myself laughing at the humorous conversations between Lily and the hero, Tom. I don’t understand why the author doesn’t write more contemporary stories; it’s obvious that she’s a talented writer. It got to the point that my face hurt from smiling so much.

I loved the chemistry between Lily and Tom. It felt real and full of promise. Tom was a kind, handsome and respectful leading man. Tom and Lily made a great team.

The plot made for a consistent quick paced, fun-filled read which was entertaining from beginning to end. There were several twists that made the book hard to put down. All the characters were well developed. I gave three characters the stink eye for their interference. Lily’s brother, her ex-boyfriend and Tom’s lady actress friend all made entertaining conflict between Lily and Tom. It was gut wrenching to endure but made for a book glow at the end.

I’m thankful that I got to read and review this story. I’d encourage others to read To My Muse. I enjoyed everything about it.

Another enjoyable story about a hard-working female P. I. with lots of smarts, lots of spunk and not always a lot of common sense. Addie Gorsky, or more formally Adelajda Gorsky, reminds me of Jack Reacher. She’s a former Homicide Detective and she tends to just go in head first and think later. She’s also fun, humorous and has some quirky acquaintances. Addie just lost her dad, also a long-time cop and she’s having a hard time adjusting. It isn’t that she didn’t have siblings, it’s just that she and her dad were very close and that’s who she talked things over with. We’ve all been there in one way or another. This was a great Private Investigator/cop story. Had all the necessary ingredients…an angry cop and a helpful cop, lots of twists and turns, a psychiatric hospital and a body or two. Anderson’s characters are defined so well that you want some to become your friends and some you hope you’ll only read about in a book. Although there were a lot of scenes involved, the China Rose, the police station, the psych ward, etc., I was never once confused. Everything in this story was clear, interesting and fun to read.

Looks like Daryl Anderson has 2 or 3 other mysteries that have great reviews. They all look like standalones as is this one. Maybe we can talk her into starting a series. I sure liked this spunky P. I.

Their paths cross at a speed dating event and sparks fly. But is five minutes long enough to determine a future together?

I really related to this book on more than one level. Sometimes I’ll read a book and wonder how realistic that plot or scene was. This story was as contemporary as contemporary can get. It couldn’t get any more realistic than it was. As it’s stated in the synopsis, the hero, Jacob Black is “a third-year law student focused on studying and getting a high-paying job with a top-notch law firm.” We all know someone who values their high-powered career over their wife and family. Aviva, the heroine, lived with her father who valued his career above all else. In fact, her father was a lawyer. Therefore you’d think that Aviva would never give Jacob a second look. She wasn’t going to marry anyone like her father. I know what it’s like to grow up and not be a priority in my parent’s eyes. Or at least the priority I felt I should have been.

I also know what it’s like to grow up poor. I could understand why Jacob felt he needed that top-notch law firm to pay off his college loans and help his mother. I understand the agonizing decision Jacob felt between fulfilling his life dream of becoming a lawyer in a top-notch law firm or choosing the temptation of working for a smaller law firm. The larger firm would force him to neglect those who love him. Whereas a smaller law firm would pay less but give him more time to have a balanced life. I could understand and relate to both the heroine and the hero. Their conflict was real and raw. If he loved her he’d choose the smaller firm. Sometimes love isn’t enough or sometimes you have to learn the hard way in life.

My husband and I were once in Jacob and Aviva’s shoes. We met in college with big dreams. My husband got that high paying job. He’s missed birthdays and anniversaries. He was gone more than he was ever home. He missed many of our sons’ early milestones and later he missed seeing their extracurricular activities. It’s a choice you have to live with. It’s not easy being the wife getting the left overs.

I could feel the love and hurt feelings between Jacob and Aviva. I wanted to scream at Jacob for his decisions. Thank God for his mother who held him accountable. Marriage isn’t easy and it’s more difficult if you and your spouse aren’t on the same page. It’s hard sometimes to get on the same page. Sometimes we need a life crisis to fix our perspective. Jacob and Aviva had a plot twist that pulled at my heart strings. It’s emotional and gut wrenching to have to go through a hardship that is a life changer, but hopefully it’s for the better. I’m just thankful that Jacob and Aviva learned what is important early in life. It’s miserable to reach midlife and realize the regrets you have that can’t be undone.

I’m confident that Jacob and Aviva are going to live a happy well balanced life. It was a very interesting plot thread how they met. I have never heard of such a speed dating event. It was clear they were attracted to each other and shared a chemistry that turned into a true love story. Five Minutes to Love caught my interest right away and kept me captivated until the end. I felt it was written very well and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The characters were well developed and relatable. I have to recommend others to read this story especially if the reader loves to read contemporary real life romance.

Bastian is an Alpha bear who has just found his mate when she signs up for one of his tours. The major one being – will she stay with him in Alaska?

When Cassie sees Bastian, there is an instant attraction and an urge to be with him. The plot was simple and not overly complicated. The climax for me was the highlight.

The plot evolves quickly since it is a short book, but even in that short amount of time there was a solid story. It was not all sex.

When August learns the handsome inspector is concealing a personal involvement, and the death of her great-grandfather is somehow connected, she takes the investigation into her own hands. The outcome could be the death of both of them.

August and her mother uncover more than family history on their trip to Austria.

August and her mother, Lacy, had high hopes for their trip to Austria. It was a chance to connect with long lost relatives and take in the beauty and history of the estate. Unfortunately, they don’t receive the warm welcome they were hoping for. August’s great-grandfather is dead and his widow, Eike, and nephew, Fabian, make it clear they see August and Lacy as intruders. In spite of it all, August and Lacy stay in the castle, but are they living with a murderer?

August is a fun character. She is spunky and certainly not afraid to speak her mind. She isn’t ruffled by Eike and Fabian’s chilly attitude. Her enjoyment of history and art leaps off the pages, and it was a joy to watch her explore the castle. August and Tobias have great chemistry from the start. Even though their personalities are very different, I think they make an interesting pair. August is a take action sort of woman, and I admire that about her. However, she does have a tendency to be impulsive and jump to conclusions. Tobias is more of a planner. He likes to gather as much information as he can before he makes a move. I think their skills complement each other nicely, and I enjoyed watching them work together.

The culprit of the crime is revealed well before the book ends. The suspense comes from watching August and Tobias solve the puzzle piece by piece. The tension is further increased as the murderer becomes increasingly bold in their efforts to prevent August from solving the mystery. I was on the edge of my seat wondering how far the villain would go!

I really enjoyed reading A Legacy of Love and Murder. The pacing and suspense are very well done, and Tobias and August make a great couple. While this is book three in the series, it stands alone very well. Fans of romantic suspense would do well to pick up a copy today.

Lake, the main character, had a complicated relationship with her young son. She cared about him quite a bit, but she also had unreasonably rigid expectations of what sort of child he should be. Every time he failed to live up to her expectations, I wondered how she was going to react to that and if she’d learn how to accept him for who he was instead of pushing him to be someone he wasn’t. There were times when it was difficult to see her project her desires onto him so relentlessly, but I was always intrigued by the justifications she came up with for her behavior.

It would have been nice to have a few more details about the setting. For example, it was never quite clear to me how the virtual world that Lake wanted to spend all of her time in made enough money to stay viable. Characters who lived in the real world had to work for a living, so I could only assume there’d need to be some sort of virtual economy as well to pay for things like electricity and upkeep of the highly sophisticated computer programs that people lived in.

One of the other things that Ms. Prell excelled at in this tale was describing how mental illness can affect every facet of someone’s life. Lake’s diagnosis was never entirely clear, but she was obviously struggling with the conflict between the parent she wished she could be and the parent she actually was to her kid. These struggles extended to other parts of this character’s life as well, from her occupation to her relationship with the father of her son.

I’d recommend The Need for Air to anyone who has ever had mixed emotions about someone or something that they loved.
