Dr. Jared Fields spurned the love of an evil witch ten years ago. In retribution, she cast a spell on him that only true love can break. Now, he lives in solitude deep in the Smokey Mountains as a disfigured man by day and shape shifter by night. His only reprieve is the few hours between dusk and dawn when he shifts into a jaguar to forget that no woman could ever love him now.

Anna Stodger is lucky to be alive. As the sole survivor of a tragic plane crash, she is left blind and broken-spirited until a kind stranger takes her in and nurses her back to health. With Jared's tender touch and heart of gold, Anna soon realizes that she is falling in love with the enigmatic doctor. But, will her love survive when she regains her sight and realizes the man she loves is really a beast of the night?

“Blind Love” is a retelling of the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ tale with a twist. Instead of escaping from his beastly self at night as his true self, Jared escapes his disfigurement as a jaguar. But, the spell of a witch is just as long-lasting...until the beast can find someone who will truly love him.

Ms. Tumlin does an excellent job at bringing us the tortured hero of Jared Fields—a man resigned to living alone. That is until fate brings Anna Stodger into his life...and into his heart. The pain he goes through when he realizes he is falling in love with her and fears she will leave him as so many others have done touches the heart of the reader.

The only weakness I saw in this charming story was I didn’t feel I had enough time in Anna’s point of view. Jared...I knew from the inside out. Anna, only in bits and pieces. What I saw of her, I liked. She showed courage when faced with the possible permanent loss of her sight and the knowledge she had lost everyone she cared about. I only wish I could have known her better.

Even with that, “Blind Love” is a story you can sit and enjoy...with the knowledge that true love is not dead, even with evil witches and spells trying to destroy it.
